Hi Gurus of this forum, I need your help (again)!
I just did a stupid thing. I flashed MIUI directly over CM10, which now puts me into boot loop (Samsung Vibrant logo ... CM10 logo ... install & fail ... Samsung Vibrant logo ... CM10 logo ... install & fail ...).
I already tried the following tricks with no luck (keeps rebooting):
1. Remove & insert battery, then Vol Up + Vol Dn + Power Btn (recovery mode expected).
2. Vol Up + Vol Dn + plug USB cable (download mode expected).
3. adb reboot recovery (of course it doesn't work - cannot even connect to the phone while it keeps rebooting).
I am not new to flashing & have done Odin before. But right now I have no idea what to do next? Any suggestion?
BTW I would prefer not to format/re-partition my internal SD 'coz I have tons of photos on it!

Wow it worked like magic! Why haven't I heard about this combo before?
This combo is used with Gingerbread Bootloaders
For Recovery - Lower Volume Key + Power Button
For Download - Upper Volume Key + Power Button

I'm confused! Cuz I cannot find anything on the web, how to get my phone into fastboot and/or bootloader.
I tried this methods, and the phone ignored it, and just booted up normal:
Hold Vol-Down + Power
Hold Vol-Up + Power
Hold Vol-Down + Vol-Up + Power
I removed the battery and tried again. Nothing works
I want to unlock the bootloader, access fastboot, etc.
How to??? please help me

to access fastboot/bootloader u have to use ADB
2 questions:
1. What is soft brick phone?
2. How to access the bootloader via adb?
i tried: adb reboot bootloader
result=complete fail! the phone normally boots the system, instead of showing the bootloader
but how to access fastboot on my device?
any tricks or hacks? can i force fastboot on my phone?

If you can't find it on the internet and a search on XDA leads you to nothing then maybe it hasn't been done yet. You stated you wanted to unlock your bootloader so I assume you already found a how to on this? If you did then it should tell you how to get into bootloader as well.
i don't get bootloader/fastboot
but i have done something else
i installed windows guest in vmware workstation 8
downloaded odin and flashed a cwm tar to the PDA section
than i finally had cwm v4 on my device
than with cwm, i felled free to install cyanogen mod 7.1 unofficial fro galaxy gio
and it works like a charm
Mod version says "CyanogenMod 7.1 gio RC1"
it's awesome, i don't need fastboot anymore, when odin can do the job
NOTE: i know about heimdall (open-source odin alternative for linux) but it doesn't work so i have to use a win vmware guest to use odin
but it would be to see bootloader on my device, maybe soon

how can i get a original stock rom? my samsung galaxy gio is rooted but its now its wifi error
i have a vibrant that now shows vibrant screen then cyanogen screen then some files running and then agfain the same process.
i am afraid . it was a new phone how to recover i was flashing the ics passion.
and when i keep pressing thr volume less and power key it just flashes vibrant on screen.
Bootloop!!!!!

NOTE: If you get in boot loop during first install, DONT panic.
Remove battery. Hold Vol Down + Home + Power Key. You will enter new recovery mode. Flash the ROM again.
Some users (having Froyo Bootloader) need to press Vol Up Key instead of Home Key to get in Recovery.

Try a few combos. You ultimately want to get back into recovery mode to reflash.

Combos to get into recovery:
1. Gingerbread Boot loader: Vol Down + Home + Power Key (That's what neo's OP says) or Volume Down + Power Button (Elsewhere I've heard that combo, so try both. Can't test myself because I have Froyo Boot loader and running MIUI)
2. Froyo Boot loader: Both Volume Keys + Power Button
Ultimately you can enter download mode and use Odin to flash to stock. You can enter download mode using Power+Vol.Up

or as soon as the loop shuts off screen and is about to start again ( black screen followed by vibrant) quickly press up and down volume and hook usb cable up...( you can be already pressing up and down) works like a charm for me....have fallen into that boot loop thing once to many times....but theres always time for once more lol...
Hi all
I have used search and I can find results that pertain to other devices but not specifically Galaxy S3 (I9300).
I've been trying to flash a new ROM onto my phone.
To do this:
- I rooted the phone using Odin and installed CF Root + CWM package.
- After doing this, I did the 3 button reset to enter Recovery mode. However, the phone always entered into Download Mode (Odin Mode / "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!"). I was never able to enter Recovery mode.
- So I couldn't use the Recovery mode to install the ROM.
- Instead, I used ROM Manager to do the install (Cyanogen 9) but I did this without clearing the cache.
The result:
- Now if I leave the phone to boot, it enters Cyanogen 9 boot screen but stuck here looping.
- if I try to enter recovery mode to clear the cache, it only gives me download screen.
I've tried a few different uploads to get recovery mode (and it successfully uploads the files I send using Odin) however the phone still enters download mode after the flash.
I'm worried about doing the wrong steps if I follow advice from other sub-forums relating to other devices.
Any tips?

The three button reset is power button + Home + Volume up to enter into recovery..
You are going to Download mode because you are pressing Power button + Home + Volume down key ...
Read this guide
Recovery mode is volume up while pressing home and then power.
Try this first and see if you can access recovery, if not then flash Philz recovery via odin and then boot into it to clear data, cache etc.
Make sure you read and understand how to use both odin and recovery before you start, otherwise you can brick your phone.

Funnily, I was pressing power + home + volume down to get download mode.
I tried pressing power + home + volume up, which successfully got me into recovery mode.
Strangely reversed.
This seems to have resolved the problem.

i have e.dots tablet 4GB now it is frozen on boot state it shows e.dots logo and never start ... i want to know how to install fresh software on it ... i tried to go to download mode but this tablet doesn't have home button ( how i can entre to download mode ?? ) please help me to find the software for this tablet and howa i can install it and finally what prog i need to install it .... thanx

What are the buttons you have in there?
First try to power off the device completely, then try any combo button (power button + vol up) or (power button + vol down)

yes i tried (power button + vol up) and it show logo e.dots and after that show andriod symbol but as adead body

But cant enter in download mode
I pres vol down +home+power also vol up
Strange is this that on both way there is recovery menu
Then i install mtktool
And try to install recovery img
But now stock recovery not opening screen is black and reboot
And also now no sim means insert sim opetion
Well now what should i have to do
Plz hlp

When i pres there are some other options like
Test
Automatic test
Manul test
Clear emmc
Reboot
Etc
These are still available when i try to go download mode

.
In the galaxy quattro / win, press Vol + home + power, vibrating release power button keep the Vol + home
To enter in download Vol - home + power, vibrating release power button keep the Vol + home
Trick: , i briked my download mod leave odin prepared with the stock(samfirm), remove the battery, insert the battery and make the combo button(at the same time) download works.
I recommend this ( i used terminal emulator)

depending on the level of brick, it is only with zex box, as already happened to me with other devices
