First of all you need to ditch twrp and flash 4ext recovery, especially if u are s-on. Then reflash the custom Rom of your choice, not an ruu.
I'm guessing u meant to say RUU where u said RRI files. To flash an ruu u would flash it through bootloader and would have to have a locked bootloader to do it.

here's a way to return to stock RUU, you need the all-in-one toolkit from hasoon2000
download this file Here and rename it to PH85IMG.zip (this file is for ICS) the older one for GB didnt work for me
use the "Relock Bootloader" command on hasoon's toolkit to relock your bootloader (i received a security warning when doing so, but still worked)
place the PH85IMG.zip file on the root of your SD Card
turn off device and remove the battery. Reinsert the battery then simultaneously hold the volume down and power buttons (to boot fastboot)
Fastboot will detect the image file on your external storage. After it loads, accept the "update" - this will revert you to stock (including recovery and radio).

simple solution
Step 1: Boot phone into bootloader by removing battery then placing battery back in phone then turning phone on by holding VOL down and Power button
Step 2: use hansoons AIO toolkit while in bootloader to flash 4EXT recovery
Step 3: boot into recovery and use 4EXT's to mount your phone to the PC using their "toggle USB storage" feature which lets you access your SD card while in recovery
Step 4: place another ROM on your phone, and then disconnect phone from PC
Step 5: do a full system wipe before you flash new rom, Format DATA SYSTEM CACHE+DELVIK
Step 6: FLASH Rom you placed on SD CARD previously
Step 7: After flashing rom successfully go back into 4ext recovery or download 4ext recovery control, and make a NANDROID backup in-case you fk **** up later or again
STEP 8 ( HIT THAT THANKS )

Well since u are already unlocked and have a custom recovery u may as well try and get a custom Rom flashed since flashing an RUU will require u to relock your bootloader.
So start out by using hasoons toolkit and flash 4ext.

yes you can flash any custom ICS/JB rom as long as your using 4EXT recovery with smart flash enabled with S-ON.. but i'm not sure if there's any JB rom's for the amaze with DATA working, CM9/10 AOKP all have problems with the data , if you want JB you might have to go with JB ICS themed rom.. like Fourth Bar Infusion.. i think Speed Rom also..

This is if your S-on
1. Get AMAZE A I O tool 2. get the RUU of the ICS release from somewhere on these forums 3. from AIO TOOL Flash Stock Recovery, 4. from AIO tooLLS Commands - relock BOOTLOADER 5. Make sure you have the PH85IMG_RUBY_ICS_35_S_Sjust PH85IMG.zip and it's on the ROOT of your SD CARD 6. Reboot into BOOTLOADER and it will load this file, it will reboot 2X and you will boot into normal ICS 7. Unlock bootloader again from AIO Tools 8. install 4EXT recovery from AIO Tools 9. BOOT INTO recovery now, which is 4ext 10. factory reset, delete devik / cache and install

Hello, this is my second time trying to flash a custom rom on my HTC Amaze.
S-On
The last working rom on my HTC Amaze was Fourth Bar 3.0. The battery life was very poor so I have been trying to install a different rom ever since.
The last rom I have installed is, Engergy_8.1.2012.Amaze.Sense.3.6_ICS_STOCK_LOOK which is giving me my reason to post.
I am using 4ext Recovery. It installed the rom and also flashed the kernel (faux) and stock on the second install attempt. I also wiped everything before each install and also had the aroma installer wipe everything as well.
After install, it said it needed to reboot. Now it's stuck on bootloop. I can access recovery. But I am not sure what to do now. I have re-installed it twice with the same result.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

Flash the ICS RUU thread first. You can't just flash an ICS Rom coming from GB. It needs to be updated first.

I tried the 2nd link.
I did not get any icon. Went straight to 4ext.
["3. Reboot into bootloader and select recovery, it's gonna show the update icon then show you the icon some of you have been getting with the red triangle and exclamation mark, ignore this."]
So, I did not have this option,
["4. Hold your volume up button and press the power button, it's gonna say "can't open command/cache" then give you the default recovery menu."]
Tried installing in 4ext, I got an error message. Installation aborted.
Also tried this option,
["Note to users, if you're getting an error when you try to select the update file as instructed, simply rename the OTA file to update, then try applying update from sd card, let me know if that works for you instead, so I can edit this tutorial accordingly."]
Also did not work. Error message, installation aborted.

Ok, I gave that a shot, didn't work. It loaded the .zip and said, "parsing" that was it. So then I went to recovery and tried installing Energy_8.1.2012.Amaze.Sense.3.6.

Also, 4ext always says there is a pending update to my boot partition after every rom install, what is this?
Still stuck in bootloop. Now I will try a gb rom...

It is Rooted and running the Sprint 2.17 odex ROM 2.3.4 Gingerbread
With TWRP Recovery.
I've been reading forums for three weeks. No one has given me a clear answer.
What I want to do is get ICS. Now before you all facepalm and say "Use the wire trick noob" It's not that simple.
My phone was flashed to Boost Mobile. I didn't flash it and I have not the slightest Idea how to flash and according to support at http://www.unlimited.io The wire trick will clear my flash. So the wire trick is a no no.
Now there was a method where you flash the boot.img using fastboot
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"
It pushes it and says success.
Then I reboot into recovery (vol down and power button)
and flash the ROM. It bootloops every single time.
I've been looking for a way to S-Off safely with no luck, so now I'm determined to master the flash process. All i want is One working ICS ROM for my device.
Thanks in advance for the help, Nova.

Why don't you just flash a stock gingerbread ROM them stock recovery and relock your bootloader then take the ota update , let it install then unlock via HTC Dev again...
from what I learned from being S-ON with 1.5 unlocked, you have to:
flash the boot.img file BEFORE flashing the ROM. extract it from the ROM push it via fastboot, enter recovery via fastboot then wipe wipe WIPE everything except your SD card 3X, flash ROM, enjoy ICS goodness

If you are booting recovery via fast boot and then flashing a ROM, there is no need to flash boot.img separately. The recovery will work as if you are s-off. And there is no logic in wiping partitions 3x.....
Or you can directly flash a ROM from recovery without booting recovery via fast boot, and then flash boot.img via fast boot.
Or use 4ext recovery and turn smart flash on, and flash ROMs directly without using fast boot.

As far as I know, both unknownforce's, and the wire trick to downgrade the bootloader to hboot 1.4 will erase your flash to boost... Ask me how I know...lol!
Have you tried the app flash image GUI? When I was s on, I used this app to flash the kernel, then I went to recovery, and flashed the Rom, and all worked as long as the kernel was compatible with the specific Rom I was flashing, maybe you can try flashing the VM leak kernel, then an ics Rom

That's just the way its ever worked for me so I found it was worth giving out my way at least as an opinion I know once you boot into recovery via fastboot is SUPPOSED to work that way, never did for me hence my weird method. Wiping partitions may not have any logic to you sir, but to some of us it does back from the OG EVO days, that's what devs there used to post, that's what I've gone with as a routine for myself.
I've known peeps who attempt the ROM first boot then reflash boot.img after- endless powercycle. Never happened when I tried it but eh
4EXT wasn't always around so I guess I'm still trying to get used to easier flashin on this phone. I enver used smart flash on this one because when I was S-ON I did it the fastboot method, then the Unknown Force method came to be and I never had a need for it.
Evo 3D on Boost S-off but problems with ICS ROMs
Background:
EVO 3D (CDMA) flashed to Boost Mobile. Sept 2011
Rooted HTC Method Oct 2011
ROMs ROMs ROMs until about 6 months ago (currently using Eternity Infected Rom 1.4.2)
Tried to go to ICS and had problems so did S-off wire trick Aug 2012 (Lost Boost Mobile flash) Had to reflash to Boost.
Now:
****Unlocked****
Shooter XC Ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.50.0000
baseband 97.10.0808
I'm in a quandry at this point of what to do next.
I'm not able to successfully load any of the new ROMs. I tried just upgrading to Infected ROM 2.0 but it also always has issues like it forces me to use skype or email won't open. I'm guessing it is because I load my old data from Titanium backup and it isn't compatible. I tried Mean ROM and it works and changes my kernel but I don't like it as it is full of Sprint Bloatware which does me no good on Boost. I've tried to load the latest Viper ICS ROM and it just stays stuck on the HTC screen.
So, a few minutes ago, I come to XDA and decided it was time for me to flash CyanogenMod onto my already rooted HTC Amaze 4g. I searched "How to install CM10 on Amaze 4g using TWRP 2.3.3.0" and found " genius-tips[dot]com/update-htc-amaze-4g-to-android-4-1-1-cm10-official-rom/ ", so I decided i was going to go try it anyway. I took a video of me doing it just in case I messed up (Glad I did).
Well, here's the video:
youtube[.com]/watch?v=Lg0zCH22hDc
If anyone can help me install CM10 onto my Amaze 4g, please do. I also need someone to explain how I could go about restoring my phone (Sadly, I didn't backup my ****) to Stock. All, and any help is appreciated. I'm currently stuck in a boot loop
Sorry, but I can't post any links just yet
What OS were you using before you tried to flash CM10?
And are you S-Off?
And did you flash the boot.img?
The reason is...
1. You need to be on ICS Firmware first to flash anything ICS or higher
2. S-off allows you to flash the kernel at the same time after flashing.
3. If you're not s-off then flashing the kernel [boot.img] is necessary.

Then its because you are s-on. You need to ditch twrp and flash 4ext recovery, then enable smartflash in the settings in 4ext. Then flash the Rom. Use hasoon's toolkit to flash 4ext to your phone

Thanks guys! I Flashed 4Ext (Connect phone to computer, and run hasoon2000 program, and just flash it), then flashed the zip, and it works great now
Hey Guys,
I just bought a brand new HTC Amaze unbranded (without any carrier branding). Now I tried updating the phone to ICS but unfortunately no official ICS update is available. I have a version where I get to choose south asian languages at start up, I don't know if this would help.
Anyways, I tired rooting my phone through the following method:
1- Unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev method.
2- Flashed the 4eXT recovery via Hasoon2000 tool kit, after which I had the SuperSU app on my phone.
3- Flashed Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly ROM (Latest available on their website).
The installation was successful, however when the phone boots up to the Home screen it works fine for precisely 10secs and then it freezes and reboots and this happens until I remove the battery. However if the phone boots up to the Home page and I do not unlock the phone it would not go off, but will freeze and reboot once I unlock!!. My phone is still S-ON. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix it.
Thanks

OK there is one more thing that I tried while I was waiting for a solution, I downloaded a Stock ICS RUU and renamed it to PH85IMG.zip and then boot it to HBOOT where it picked up the file and started installing, after install it was stuck on the HTC logo. Now as per your suggestion I suggestion I should simply download a GB Stock and flash it the same way I did with the ICS RUU correct?....and would you have a recommendation which one should I flash?

now listen to me very carefully since you've made things complicated..1st flash 4ext into your phone then go to 4ext recovery>>wipe and format>>format all partitions except memory card...once you've done it put that GB rom to your external sd and go to tools and enable smart flash ON then flash your GB rom once it's done yay you got GB rom if you want to go further follow this if there's anything your not clear of feel free to ask me through a pm or by posting cheers :good: btw if your thinking of S-OFF and stuff don't do it right away read it till you get the idea of what your doing..and then your good to go also there's a lil more easy way to do the super cid than how it explain you can execute the bat file on your root folder without going through all the typing stuff

Just a FYI ravike14, I already have the 4EXT recovery on my phone, if you refer to my previous post....should I install the recovery once again and then go with the method described?
Oh and I even downloaded a Shipped GB ROM for Amaze which was in a .exe format and try to flash it, but it gave me an error 107 USB something error.
