In my x10 mini I've seen a blue led blinking when I started LED/Illumination test. There is nothing about blue led in manual. Is blue led unused in this device?
as i know none standart app that use it
but when you backgrounded ebuddy and you get a message
your led will blink blue
so i think 3rd party software uses it
There is an App for that: "Blink"
Handcent - user configured
You can practically set any color for the LED (I think) am I correct?

correct you can use the app called 'led tester' from the market test all colors (switch off the screen in order to see the led blinking)
one of my favourite things about my mini is having different coloured leds and blinking patterns for different contact messages. i use handcent to configure this i dont believe the stock app can do it.
Surprising!!
Handcent doesnt seem to work on my mini pro LED..
i use tasker 2 change and use the LED
I'm coming from a BB world. Is there a way to specify a certain led for a certain type of call/msg. example...green for missed calls, yellow for mms, orange for yahoo, purple for gmail, etc?
TIA

I just noticed we don't have a light for notifications. We should so I'm not sure what is going on.
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using Tapatalk!
There is 1 notification light that i know off... The original 4g had 2 lights which was nice. The only phones I've seen like that though are bberries - I'm guessing rim does it due to phones being silenced during meetings etc but still being able too get good clear notifications. I wish they had better though on the 3d

Hey guys I had an idea and so far have no idea how I would come about doing this. Would it be possible to have a led light hooked up to a bluetooth adapter and then connected to the phone so whenever you get a message notification on your phone then the led light would light up a certain color? We could have a light box like this with multiple colored leds' in it http://www.instructables.com/id/Twitter-Mood-Light-The-Worlds-Mood-in-a-Box/ but instead of twitter it'd be specific color coded notifications! Maybe green for messages, blue for gmail, and so on so on! Right now it's just an idea as I have no idea how to do this... The light box in the link also has a wifly module in it so maybe we could switch it out with a bluetooth module instead? Any help would be amazing!
Have you done this i am also planning to do the same on my galaxy s

I had the hardest time getting the WhatsApp notifications to work using Light Flow on my Note 3, but I finally figured it out. Here is the solution.
Normally you need to turn on Light Flow in the Accessibility settings on the phone. But not for Android 4.3 and above. There is a note when you turn Light Flow Accessibility on and off saying such. So leave Accessibility off for Light Flow. Instead go to Phone Settings/Security/Notification access and check the box after Light Flow. And now it should work.
Hope that helps you.

not worth using light flow on 4.3 and above since there is a persistent notification when you pull down the status bar. i use led blinker pro now. does the same thing pretty much.

I don't have an issue with the notification lights in 4.3. The reason I use Light Flow is because WhatsApp doesn't use alerts for contacts propertly. When you tell it to use Contact specific notifications in WhatsApp it uses the Contact's Ringtone instead of the Message Alert. Light Flow handles this properly and in addition it allows a different notification for WhatsApp and Handcent (or your SMS App). I don't know of any other App that will do that. I would be ok with WhatsApp using the Message Alert and having the same alert for a text messages as WhatsApp messages. But I'm not OK with using a phone Ringtone for a text/WhatsApp message.
I should also mention that I set Light Flow Setting for "Select the type of control" to "No Control - Default device behavior." This allowed me to use the Handcent notification settings which turned out to be better than Light Flow.
thank you for this! i love lightflow!

Has anyone got a picture or video of the P780 notification LED? What colour does the light flash and is it big and bright like a Samsung Galaxy Note II or small and tiny like a Huawei Ascend P6?
Looked on YouTube and lots of reviews but nobody showing the notification light.
Also, does anyone have a link to the full user manual? Can only find the basic one on the Lenovo website.

Thanks Jackal331. Does the LED work for email and WhatsApp? I have stock ROW_119 installed and the LED only lights for missed calls and sms. Can't get it to light with anything else and no apps (like Lightflow) work with it either.

So far, I tested the LED, it only works for Calls, SMS, WeChat, Charging mode, all other else doesn't lit up. (Facebook, LINE, KakaoTalk, WhatsApp, Gmail etc...)

Thanks Soralz. Which ROM are you using? Don't know why Lenovo disable WhatsApp and Email LED notification
Maybe notification LED is fixed in S123 ROM or future KitKat 4.4 upgrade.
I will test this and let you know, I don't make use of the led very much. Will test FB and Gmail, I'm on SLX rom, it has many tweaks also GravityBox maybe it works there dunno.
is the notification led really very dim? is there any 3rd party app that can control it?

The LED is not so dim but it is inside the earpiece so angles are not as good as a BlackBerry or Galaxy Note 2 which you can see from across the room. However, the P780 LED is bigger than the one in the HTC One which has a tiny LED like a speck of dust which is pretty much useless.
Because the LED is inside the earpiece, you can put a case on and still see notifications which is good. I think the LED is fine for brightness but the big problem is that it only lights up for missed calls and sms and charging. It doesn't light for emails or facebook or whatsapp and I haven't found any app that can even lit up the LED let alone control it.
There are some custom ROMs that can control the LED using Light Flow such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/aosp-rom-lenovo-p780-t2722977 and http://www.needrom.com/mobile/lenovo-p780-6/.
I will try Light Flow again tonight using the settings in those ROM, the LED must be controllable somehow, it's stupid having LED with no email or facebook or whatsapp notification
yes, email notification is a must for the led,
also notice it doesn't blink, just light up, what a waste

Don't mind if it doesn't blink, as long as it comes on, thats fine.
Ok, I downloaded Lightflow Lite from the Play Store to test and this works if you use the HTC direct mode in Lightflow settings. This makes the LED blink in test mode BUT if you switch the screen off, it stops flashing. I think there is a power setting somewhere to keep Lightflow active when the screen is locked but the app doesn't show in the Lenovo power app whitelist.
Also, with HTC direct mode, there is no choice of colours for the LED, you are limited to just green which is fine by me but definitely need to have the LED lighting up when the screen is off. Will continue playing around with it to see if I can get it working.
Just updated to stock 124 and the LED still doesn't work
Why don't Lenovo fix this simple thing? Samsung, LG, HTC, everyone lese has the LED lighting up on all events and Lenovo have to ruin a great phone by buggy implementation
Have been messing around the Lightflow and can confirm that Gmail works if you have root and HTC Direct mode enabled. Doesn't work at all with standard Lenovo Email app though.
is it possible to enable the light if a whatsapp message has arrived

The light is not bright like a Blackberry and has no viewing angles but it's not at all bad, the good thing is that it is in the earpiece so you can still see it even with a cover on. I prefer a proper LED to something like NoLed which will switch on the whole screen to make a notification and drain the battery.

After upgraded to KK S221, led notification is malfunction when screen is off. After receiving sms, missed call, led blink normally until screen is off, it will be light or off or blink with abnormal frequency...
