I know I somewhere read about it, but I don't remember exactly what it said. I know there are some issues with restoring app data from Ics roms on Jelly Bean. I want to bring my new RR up to full 'functionality' with all my apps and data without any issues...

Nevermind. I started restoring apps and data and nothing bad happened.
But I have another question: which Cpu governor (which isn't Conservative) would most battery preserving?

Anyone?

Okay, I have the Samsung Captivate and anytime I flash a new ROM I install everything from scratch. I recently upgraded to ICS... now my wife wants it on her i9100. Installing from scratch wouldn't normally be an issue but she has like 100+ apps, most of them games and such and I don't care to go through and write them all down to re-install and also hope that they don't need saved information. If anyone has any (free) backup tools that can do what I need, please let me know. The only I've ever heard of is Titanium and when I used it once on my Captivate it didn't work with restoring everything.
hey there,
you tried Titanium before ... it´s the one solution I would use for this task; as you know it will show you the apps it wasn´t able to restore and you can install them from the market after that.
normaly I use MIUI Backup for this, but since you want stock ICS you have to use another app.
Yep use titanium backup, if you flash cm9, it might be a bit tricky, I had to use the free version of titanium backup, the pro didn't work, also it sometimes freezed sobi had to reboot, also ics rom's for sgs2 have lots of bugs

ICS issues eh? Then maybe I'll wait a month or so, she's just anxious to get the same capabilities that I do, because on the Captivate ICS has made it so smooth I feel like it's a brand new phone.
Our ics roms are not something I would subject a spouse to unless they are a fan of Android tweaking, there not really stable and likely to cause problems, only really for advanced users.

Followed instructions exactly (phone originally on dag 0.2 and I TB backuped):
1. Flashed rom and attfix and restored to factory.
2. Restored missing apps and data using TB.
3. Restored sms using backup and restore.
The phone then will freeze and reboot on certain tasks, like when I enter setcpu... Is the processor the problem? After rebooting the problem remain and I decided to restore nandroid.
Is it something to do with conflicts after restoring through TB?? Will I avoid this mess if I do only step 1 and 3 annually reinstall apps myself?
Note: I think this happened when I installed TPCv2 also.. Decided to revert to stock rooted with dag... I really want to maximize the speed of this phone, so please let me know!

What overlook settings were you trying to use and did you have set on boot selected

Overclocked smartassv2, 1.83 max, and also added 700max on calls and standby.

I'm on the same rom but using lagfree governor set at 1728 and my Bluetooth will drop and do the media scan thing but I'm not set to to set on boot. Is yours doing that a well?

Haven't paid attention to bluetooth etc, sorry..
Somebody please answer: is setcpu somehow causing this problem? or is it some kind of conflict from restoring TB after installation?
Came up with an idea--I didn't wipe the cache/dalvik cache (I'm actually new android and have no idea what these are). Is it necessary to wipe these caches before or after flashing new roms??
Thanks!
Its usually necessary but I did read another member was having the same problem narrowing it down to smart a$$ v2 as the problem.I use on demand it keeps the clock really low and deep sleeps when not in use.

I have an issue with the X10S ROM by championswimmer when restarting. I've synced my Google account with my phone before, but after restarting the phone sometimes, all my synced data is wiped (calendar, contacts, etc.) and only the stuff I've not backed up (e.g. new messages and contacts) gets saved, everything else from Google and Facebook accounts are wiped. It's not a massive issue, just a bit irritating having to resync everything every once in a while, but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen similar issues with this ROM or if mine's just a unique case, and if someone knows a fix for it.
Otherwise, this is a brilliant ROM and I love it, especially seeing how I'm not in the right financial situation to be able to afford the Xperia S, but I can still experience it on my X10. Thanks in advance
Maybe try fresh install?

Backup the ROM with xRecovery and do a fresh install. I have restarting issues with mine too and fresh install didnt help so Im going to get it repaired.
Maybe go back to stock CPU freq if overclocked.
It may be the motherboard if everything above fails.

I wouldnt back up as it is defected and it will make copy of defect. Just start agaim (go back to stock to b sure) and go from root right through to fresh install.

Hello,
since a few days my Xperia S acts really weird. For example when typing right now it will freeze from time to time and i will have to wait 5 seconds to type.. Or when going back from an app to the Homescreen it will sometimes vibrate twice and open the taskmanager.. I already tried a factory reset but that doesnt help.. Any suggestions?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
I have never seen this issue before, but i'm thinking in the lines of some kind of app that is using your cpu for the full 100% or so.
Does it perhaps occur after you have installed a specific app?
I'm not sure about this at all, but i'm just trying to eliminate all possibilities.
Ive installed 2 apps after the factory reset, XDA app and whatsapp.. :/
Those apps shouldn't really give any issues.
Are you running the stock GB/ICS firmware and a stock kernel as well?
yeah everything's on stock. nothing modifyed.
I think what you could try is to flash a stock GB/ICS firmware through the flashtool with a full data wipe and all that.
Perhaps it's useful to format the storage memory of your phone too, just to be sure.
Again, i'm not sure if any of this will work but it's worth a try.
If this doesn't help, i think it's best for you to return the handset to the shop.
Hey there!
Im looking for a new rom for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Preferably one where i don't have to do a wipe. And one which is one fast and good with battery.
Im currently running on Galaxy Task 3.2 Slim....
Kind regards!
Bump?

for all roms youll have to wipe unless you want to risk instability.
And why do you not want to wipe. It takes like 2 minutes to restore everything with tibu
Tibu?
The only reason i dont want to wipe. Is because there are apps on the tablet from my mom and sister. They get mad if i lose their apps... i will back them up before wiping and stuff. I just hate that. Cuz it always gets messed up...
Thats why i was looking for a rom without
Kind regards

Yup. Or "My Backup Root", which is great. It'll backup and restore all of your apps, photos, videos, music, SMS/MMS, and/or Data + more.

In this case you should use some backup tool as when upgrading to android 4.0.4 or even 4.1.2 all apps will be erased unfortunately.
Any one knows a good fast and most of all rom with good battery? Because compared to the ipad 2. Galaxy tab battery sucks.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I like both the aokp and cm10 jelly bean roms. They are fast, but won't keep up with the iPad on battery. If you under clock it, it might.
there are several points to consider:
1. you want only the apps or also their data? if only the apps, the task is much easier, just check on the market for apps that can do backup.
2. if you also need data, than you must be careful. search deeply and choose wisely, especially if you plan big move (GB to ICS, ICS to JB). I found out that some apps don't work very good in cases like this to restore data. personally, I would backup with several apps, to be sure (and avoid your getting 'killed').
3. I think, but not 100% sure, that also the Samsung PC sw (Kies) can make backup and restore of apps and data.
