how do i restore a nandroid backup with Amon Ra recovery
Easiest way is to download Con's nandroid recovery helper. Flash the zip in recovery, it will run and take you to bootloader. Press power, to flash the ph98 file. It will bring you back go recovery, just choose backup/restore..then nandroid restore..finally just select the backup you want to restore..then reboot...using con's file let's you restore the entire nandroid including Kernel. Otherwise, restore nandroid then flash the right kernel in bootloader.

[Help] Nandroid backup

Hi! I accidentally replaced nandroid with TeamWin Recovery Project. The problem is that TWRP wont let me flash anything as it always gives an error saying no md5 file found or something on the lines of that. So I was just wondering if theres any way I can go back to nandroid or reinstall it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Do you have CWM recovery installed? If so, boot into CWM and choose restore from backup...

I can't use CWM anymore because i accidentally installed TWRP. When I boot into recovery it goes to TWRP and not CWM.

Go to the Play Store, download Rom Manager. Open it up, it will prompt you through reflashing CWM Recovery again. It will basically do it for you.
Install the rom manager, reboot the phone in recovery mod and select backup and restore, go vth advance restore, and more over don't rename or move the folder to different directory , make sure u keep the backup in ur PC ...

He can't do that till he installs CWM. Which is what he must do if he wants to use a Nandroid Backup he did in CWM Recovery. He currently has TWRP Recovery installed. The Backups made on one Recovery, or the other are not interchangable. So if you made a Nand while having CWM Recovery installed, it will not work with TWRP Recovery. Or vise versa.

Help building a clockwork mod recovery!

I have a chinaphone and I'm trying to install a custom recovery so I can make/restore backups if anything messes up the phone, but it hasn't got an official clockwork mod recovery.
I've read that you can build a custom recovery using the ClockworkMod Builder website with the original recovery img extracted from the device,
I tried using this method to extract the recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771347 with no success.
Then I used an App called Online Nandroid Backup which has successfully created a recovery img for me, I ran it through the ClockworkMod Builder website but it says no changes were made.
Help please?
Why using cwm if u can using flashing app on your pc... i think thats good ways to restore or flashing your devices

[Q] Is it possible to preserver stock recovery and install twrp?

Greetings-
Seems most flash instructions use TWRP or CW. The one I am looking at calls for doing a Nandroid backup, which as I understand, is done via stock recovery. Right? Well how do I install TWRP without messing up my stock recovery?
A nandroid is just a back up done with twrp ....really u may think hard about doing this with your phone because you will be asking us how to fix your brick soon

From what I understand and have experienced, you can't create or restore a nandroid backup with the stock recovery. That's one of the main reasons I rooted and installed TWRP.

Dont need an nandroid backup
just flash twrp from adb on recovery partition, and it will write over previous recovery i.e. cwm. this is what you do when u flash over stock recovery as u would have done while flashing cwm, NO? and a nandroid backup wont backup your recovery partition as far as i know.
