Lags in the beginning. - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Guys I'm an Xperia U user for the past 4 months. I've been running GB for 2 months and then upgraded to official Indian ICS via SUS. I didn't have any problem for a week and ICS was so smooth and a delight indeed. But after the first week the phone was lagging especially when I received a call in between running an app. I had to wait like 10s so that the accept button comes up and another 10s to actually start talking. And sometimes it froze. So I had to remove the battery to reboot.
So I reinstalled the OS again and again it was smooth for a week and the same problem started. I always keep my internal memory free for atlast 1GB.
Now I've put a new copy of OS again via SUS last day so it's smooth now.
I've something to clarify,if I root my device and put the French ICS will it make any changes and how does OS gets aged every time after a week. I've reset my phone and I restart my phone everyday.

Currently m on french ics
Nd I have no issues in a month
Though sometimes it too gets unresponsive during attending a call bt only for a single second
Bt before that -
I suggest u to limit the background process in developer options to 2
It will certainly help on ur stock ics

I dont have the xperia U, but did you ever try doing a factory reset? Might solve your problem

If that doesnt work use binary v9 to root and delete some stock apps, ive had the same problem until I deleted a few apps. Theres a list of apps you can safely remove somewhere in this forum. Under general I think....
found the link and I've only removed a few:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939918&highlight=system+apps
or

DEV Device: MB511 (deodexed)
Current System: MT27i
Long Live: V9 Ferrari Rom

If you do root then clean dalvik cache every now and then just to keep things running smoothly

Neo V Official Sony ICS 4.1.A.0.562 fw bug report thread

First of all I know there is a thread for feed back of new ICS fw,but instead bug reporting that thread contains more pleas, hatred towards Sony doubt devs from Sony will keep on reading it.
So in this thread please post the bugs you've found so far with the fw.So we can direct this to Sony devs & if they care(they did asked opinions, bug reposrts about fw in Sony forums so I assume they do care) they will try to fix them
So I'll start
+.Very choppy video recording.
+.Big battery drains
+.Loads of older games crash after 30 seconds
+.No wifi direct
+.System is kinda slow and lag comparing to ginger bread
+.Not great ram management, phone sort of freezes when using more than few apps at the same time.
+.Home launcher lags comparing to ginger bread ones
+.It takes 3-4 seconds for Dialer to load :/
+.Didn't had face unlock after the update.Had to flash gapps to get it
+.Keyboard's keys are kinda smaller and not that easy to type
+.All the setted contact pictures are gone from contacts and only thumbnails are left :/
So far I've found.please post the bugs you found and help to get a better ICS fw
you will get face unlock when you open google play.
it's silently updating.
no need to flash gapps.

Games are rather matter of game developers not compatible with ICS I think.
this my problem :
1. Battery drain. If i used wifi, and switch it off...battery more faster decreased, have to reboot phone for make battery back to normal...
2. Dialer slow loading... am i used phone with 600Mhz???
I wonder, why there is no power notification widget in this update...
My issues:
A little battery drain, but ROM is recently installed so I will give time to stabilize.
Wifi is buggy. Takes ten minutes connecting one meter from the router. Wpa.
Any times takes half hour... And in other routers connects instantly.
Can be night elf kernel?
Notification led doesn't work for missed calls! I searched in the phone's menu but there is no option to enable it!

In GB there was an additional option to completely disable USB action. MTP/Mass storage + "Disable usb".
Browser kept crashing and crashing.
Problems with Google Picasa Web synchronization. The albums from my picasa account just don't appear when I want to upload new files. There's a problem with facebook-google accounts synchro.
Some apps shows 'segmentation error' when trying to move them to the phone (system apps2sd). Cleaning data, uninstalling and installing back doesn't help. Link2SD or other App2SD from the market does not help - a little strange problem, probably new installation could help
Sometimes app drawer seems laggy - in comparison to GB, which had quicker response
Poor memory management - GB seemed to run more user apps at the same time quite smoothly
That is all after one day of heavy exploring by my daugther
Hmm how its possible that the ics not running smooth by all??
Mine is ok, no lag in menu and homescreen scrolling (i use the xperia s home now) no lag when i open settings etc, app2sd is working fine on ics no problems (i use app2sd pro 2.50 the newest one) no camera problems no fc's or anything else, its all f*cking amezing and fast

I don't know if this is a bug or something... but the widget for favorite contacts is missing. I kinda like that widget...
I am not experiencing the camera, gps, and wifi problems that is posted here.

When you install it as a clean install it is faster, but when u update it via pc companion or flash without flashing user data it tends to get slower. So best way to move to ICS(or any other rom in that manner) is to do a fresh clean install

This is true people. YOU HAVE TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL FOR IT TO WORK PROPERLY!
The first time I updated it, it was buggy as hell!
I then did a clean install (repair phone on pc companion) then it was smooth running since then. Memory management is amazing, no scroll lag, UI is great, multi tasking is better... I dont know about u guys but im likin it!
OT: is the UI on this is different drom nordic? It seems that they aee hating the UI but I see no fault on mine.

I did a fresh with pc companion twice a time, 1st time i had the modded music player from xperia s, and i know that was tiving me fc's so i repair my Neo V with pcc and that was the 2nd time, so you are right bro a fresh brand new install is better !!!!

Official ICS Bug Report
Using this firmware for past 3 days now,
1. A little laggy Interface than GB, but using a third party Launcher fixes it till some extend.
2. Video recording quality is not as in GB. Also is choppy.
3. Gyroscope doesnt work in Maps. Checked with Compass Application works flawlessly, not in Maps.
I might switch back to GB soon...
Its not as if im not fond of ICS... But for me, its still a bit RAW. I really like the UI, functions, etc however its a bit buggy on the 3 main tasks wich I use my phone(Wifi, camera and temple run)... Untl these can be fixed, I thnk im staying with gb first. Btw, I find ics not to be laggy on its stock state however, once u install mods fr system ui and others, it kinda lags a bit. Too bad.

[Q] HELP

Hi,
i downloaded the new Android 4 Update for
my sony ericsson xperia arc S and ive had nothing but trouble with my phone
since. It freezes all the time, cuts off when im on facebook, wont let me set a facebook status, just stops running etc.
Can anyone help me out
What do i do?
Do i remove it?
HELP PLEASE!!
Thanks
Jacqui
xx
Did you download the alpha-builds of these ROMs? If yes, then that may be the cause of your problems as these alpha-builds are not much stable, buggy of-course and not meant for everyday usage. You should better download a stable release of the ICS ROMs for these devices, when made available by Sony.
Hope that helps, thanks
Everything you just said went straight over my head!! lol
*Technophobe* lol
It came through as a notification to my phone saying new updates available so i downloaded it and had problems ever since. Can it be removed?? x
Well, you could download previous stock rom ( your previous android version ), and try to flash it.

which version are you using indian or world ??
i have many bugs ...
i am an indian and updated using pc companion but service menu says the version WORLD_6.1.xxxxx
are the bugs because of the world version instead of the indian keeping in mind pc companion did everything..
i bought the phone via online indian site and it had gingerbread now updated to ics via pcc .
i am hating ICS overall , full bugs ..
i did pc companion update then factory reset ..
1. WIFI bugs , keeps on reconnecting , sometimes restarting the phone keeping wifi on fixes it for some hours, then the time i off it , next time again keeps on reconnecting ......NOW today 3 restarts still not even the reconnecting problem solved..
2. Battery drains like hell ..and sometimes shows even charge increase like 30% went to 33% LOL .. calibration issues.
3. USB mode doesn't works until i change it to debug mode .....even then the charging % is buggy ..also screen senstitvity decreases while charging ..
4. Click on any menu settings , and it will take .5 sec just to highlight the text (like lag) then go to the required next menu ..
5. Phone call and receive is laggy .
6. Wifi hotspot and sometimes usb tethering doesn't work says "Network error" WTF.....
7. Screen flickering issue sometimes when on low light .....
8. People also reporting reboot loop while using SD card until u format the card , i dont whether i should buy what i wanted to buy the 32 gb sd card ..
9. Can't run more than 3-4 apps at a time , it closes or crashes the apps ..
10. Poor ram management , very poor !!
11. what is wrong with the battery config , gsmarena shows battery is li-ion , but u do *#*#4636#*#* and battery info shows li-poly , WTF ??
and best of all
Gingerbread (the .184) had none of these problems (updating to .184 even made battery last longer)..
guys whats the problem , is sony gonna fix it ?? i cant use the internet at all because wifi bugs !!
also what do you think , is it because of the ICS or because sony guys didn't tested ICS well on SOLA....come on
the whole official sola forum is full of above complaints , how can one cannot notice these when they put ICS on sola..come on bad testers at sony ..
this was my first sony phone as well as my first android phone and now i think WASTAGE !! will never buy it again if sony doesn't fixes it soon !!
now for the meantime , any good custom roms available ??
also since my first android phone i need all the info from basic to advance regarding flashing , etc
also how can one use reverse usb tether without rooting and reverse bluetooth tether at all ??

[Q] My Xperia Sola remembers missed calls from a deccade ago!!!

Hi,
My xperia sola is on stock GB v2.3.7 + DoomLord kernel (for rooting purposes, this is supposed to be a very conservative kernel)
Almost since I bought it, the lock screen announces every "unread" message or "missed" calls I've had since it began to remember.
In other words, it doesn't notice that I've already read those SMS or checked the call log or even called back the person.
Right now my lock screen tells me that I have X missed calls and Y unread messages.
Any way to fix this?
PS: What I've tried so far: settings-->screen-->lock screen settings: unticking everything (later: ticking everything). Doesn't help.
Odp: [Q] My Xperia Sola remembers missed calls from a deccade ago!!!

why waste your time when you don't have the slightest hint to my answer?
In any case, some would argue exactly the opposite (GB vs ICS), including Sony, so no thanks.
Try deleted cache from CWM. I'm not really sure, if it'll work.

Almost the same behaviour with different ROMs: I'm not able to keep my Sola continuously on for more than 2-3 days because after a while it becomes unstable.
Force Closes happen mainly with Opera Mini and then with other apps until the phone freezes or reboot itself.
Up to now the more stable and fast ROM for my Sola is FXP CM (from 210 to 212), but also in this case no more than 3 days before a reboot.
I'm a bit frustrated because I'm not able to find out the solution: I'm considering also to move to stock Gingerbread hoping that my Sola will work better.
For our Sola, I have read suggestions to reboot the phone once a day and probably it could be a "solution", but I don't agree: I remember that my old HTC Wildfire was able to work stable for weeks of quite intensive use without any reboot.

but a second problem when i open an app and force close because its bot for my phone all apps force close :crying:

Hmm, interesting.
Maybe it's a problem with ram, I guess.
Go to Settings>Developer options>Background process limit - set this to "2" then tell if there is still a problem.

I have already tried with 1, 2 and 3 without any good result.
I don't understand why the phone works very good for almost one day and then start having some force closes and bad behaviour: for a low RAM problem, I expect issues also at the beginning.
Furthermore, when my Sola starts having force closes, the situation becomes worst and worst without any possibility of recovering: at the end, I have to reboot if the phone is too unstable or freezes otherwise it reboots itself.
