[Q] How to set CSC by default on Custom ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to know if someone here know how to set default CSC on JB custom ROM.
I know this can be done by changing the CSC sales code by keypad.
Normally on custom ROM after flash from CMW we see the JB startup wizard to guide first time boot the phone.
My question is how do I change selectable by default? on language and location and press next to continue?
On build.prop it self I already change
ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=GB
But it seem doesn't work, it always pointed to different language & region.
Any particular files need to change on this?

Their is no default CSC there are multiple CSC.
CSC is not a sales code and it has nothing to do with language or setup .
If you mean the CSC that came with your original firmware then just change the CSC in the custom rom with your original one .
Build prop must have matching language in the rom etc .

[Q]How to add locale from one rom to another?

I got official carriar rom with some language that I want to add to other roms like cognition or just stock deodoxed roms
what is the best way to do that?
Use the CSC from the carrier rom in the custom rom .
or find matching CSC in stock rom thread .
Or on a rooted phone using a file explorer find and copy from system .
CSC folder
CSCfiles text
CSC Version text
SW_Configuration XML file
Either by the same method replace once installed custom rom or open custom rom and swop files .

I found the language files in framework-res.apk
I extract them to the cognition framework-res.apk but there is no option to select the language that i extract in language settings

Role of CSC

Hi
i am using different custom rom in s 3. some roms like Foxhod and dragon rebirth give options of selecting CSC. i am from Pakistan but usually
CSC is of differnt country. is it really necessary to select CSC of my country?
if yes then what is its significance and what ll happen if i keep the same CSC of custom rom?

Not really necessary afaik , it says samsung (the phone) what country you are in to get specific samsung software/apps for that country.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.

[Q] CSC/Modem backup & Firmware versions

Hey guys,
I've been doing some reading and trying to work out the best way to dump a copy of my CSC so that if I flash in a new custom rom from another country that has JB that I can then load in my original CSC to get the settings back.
I've seen this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106502
But one of the first things it says to look for CSCFiles.txt doesn't exist on my S3.
Is there a better method for backing this up? Additionally would like to backup my modem just to be 100% sure so ran through another thread to backup the modem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705650) but the backup image came out significantly larger than the other modem files I have downloaded and the MD5 doesn't match what is supposedly the same version modem.
And one more question, I found some time ago a really good thread explaining the firmware versions as there is B firmware and C if I recall correctly and the relation of these to the modems and why flashing the wrong one can have issues. I haven't been able to locate that thread again to bookmark it, if anyone can point me in the direction of this it'd be awesome.
Beacuse there is none..all the Firmwares are more or less same with little region specific customizations..
You can flash any firmware if you are okay with the region specific changes..
There is no need to backup your modem you can get it easily from here..just note which modem you are using currently..
CSC again does not make much of a difference other then providing you with region specific customization and updates.....you dont need to back it up ..you can change you CSC using dialer or CSC changer from the market..

I understand I can flash any firmware, hence asking about the CSC's to be able to retain my regional customization's.
Modem was more a paranoia of making sure what I have is exactly what is available on here. E.g. pull it out MD5 and compare. I'd rather be sure and pull the modem out myself and confirm.
I had seen references to B type firmwares and about using specific modems with certain firmwares for compatibility.. Hence the question regarding this.
I've got the CSC changer but isn't that only able to change the CSC to the ones in that firmware? From looking at the firmware list in some of the reference threads that listed the CSC's they came with they didn't list my region.
Basically I want to know that when I flash in another firmware, in this case the 4.1.1 from the UK that I can load in the CSC and get the region specific customization's back and at the same time have a route back to the original modem and firmware that I have taken backups of myself.
With that all said the modem issue is sorted but still need to confirm I can migrate the CSC from my current firmware to the new.

Yes copy your original CSC folder and files to the new rom then flash it .

[Poll] Do you switch CSC after a fresh ROM install or stick with default?

Samsung Firmwares comes out for different regions, and each region has a set of CSC (Customer Customization Code), which contains additional settings for tuning phone features and additional settings like keyboard localisations, internet settings.
Many ROMs come out with the default set of CSC codes that were present in the base, some add extra collection (Wanam, a set of 130+ CSC codes for countries all over the world).
When the ROM is first installed, it will be using a default CSC set (defined by the base or the ROM dev), and this can be changed with CSC Selector, but executing this will reset the ROM to factory settings, losing all user settings.
TL;DR
My question is, do you care about CSC? do you ever change the default?

My ROM (in my signature), since version B3 come with a base CSC set that was in the Base Samsung ROM XXELLC, 6 CSC for some European countries, But I want to remove that too leaving just 1 single country neutral CSC.
nop, i am using default csc
csc is the last thing that i wanna change after i flashed a rom
Never ever use a CSC its deleted from the firmware always .
Or i would change the base CSC in the rom if so required .

[Q] Changing CSC ?

Hi guys.
I flashed a new ROM on my SIII, the stock Vodafone PT rom.
But in a certain moment, I have to change the CSC, and for that I need the app CSC Changer.
I installed CSC Changer, but in the app, it appears many CSC's, but not the one I want (TCL).
How can I sucessfully change my CSC to TCL?
It's the ROM's fault?
Sorry for my bad english.
Cheers

*#272*IMEI# (eg. *#272*16546845451#)
to see your IMEI see your settings or dial *#06#
NOTE: Changing your CSC will factory reset your device.
App from market doesn't include any CSC code. It's simply using Stock CSC changer called Preconfig.apk and your ROM must be MultiCSC in order to change it.
We have new ***Sticky - CSC Collection*** Check it out
Hi.
Using the *# code shows exactly the same CSC's.
I don't have my phone rooted, how can I do ?
Cheers.

To be clear, you want to change your CSC to TCL but you don't want to root your phone and your CSC is not included in ROM you're using at the moment? Correct? If so, you need to get yourself right ROM from www.samsung-updates.com or www.sammobile.com and flash it with Odin. Later on, you'll get OTA or Kies updates but only if there are any.
Yes, that's correct.
But I already downloaded two VodafonePT (TCL) roms, and there are no signs of TCL CSC..
Cheers.
Mate, I don't know what you want.. If you Must have CSC-TCL, then use Odin and install one of those Vodafone ROMs, that's it.
No other way to change CSC for you.
Installing right now,
Will update soon.
Hi everyone... I got a similiar problem with CSC and maybe someone can help me.
My original S3 is using I9300XXELLA_I9300VFGELL3_OMN fw... earlier i flashed it (after a hard reset) with the english fw, I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU. Now kies says I have a KOR csc (shouldn't it be BTU?) and that i won't be able to upgrade the fw in the future.
But this isn't the problem, I can always update with Odin. Problem is that if i ever have to use warranty, i'll have to flash back the original firmware... and when i'll do so, will i get back the OMN csc or i'll still have it set to KOR?
Thanks in advance for your help.
All working.
Thanks :=)
can't change CSC
Hi guys,
I need some help here.
I'm trying to change my CSC to the correct one, because apparently my phone is not recognizing my zone (my clock is displaying the wrong time... is that a problem from CSC?).
I do the *#272*IMEI and nothing happens.. ideas?
cheers
Carlos
