Xperia SL
Xperia Acro S
Xperia Ion
Xperia TX
As we know almost they are the same but the still having problems in choosing what phone to get.
Here are my questions. sorry they are too many hope you can help me...
1) is the new TX worth it since it can go head to head with quad core? quad core can this be utilized by such apps?
2) no gorilla glass is this a major turn off?
3) storage options. some with sd. xperia s has 32gb not expandable is this enough?
4) some has no 4g support? is it ok? do i need it so badly?
5) difference in camera and video
6) battery compared to other flagship
7) last sony smart phones compared to other flagship phones. a up or a down?
Thanks for reading this

I suggest you : Xperia ion

I really like the Xperia ion

Acro S ftw

If you like the arc design of tx id go for it. The other phones are on the s3 processor which is really outdated in today's tech standards.

If u are looking for a phone with same features, i recommend you the Nexus 4
Xperias are cute phones, indeed, but buying xperia phones you lose in android updates. Sony promised 18 months updates and my phone (Xperia Pro) only got actualizations until nine month from released date. And even that last update (4.0.4) has some bugs and never had any answer about them at sony's forums. They only say "thank you for your concern".

1) The XTX Krait beats the **** out of the Tegra 3. Not the S4 Pro, but the Tregra 3 yes.
2) Not a major, but if you are really disastrous or like to throw your phone on the floor or concrete all the time,
3) I have a Xperia S. 32 Gb is enough for me.
4) Does your city have it? If yes, then go for it, if not, then no need to.
5) The Xperia phones have a rather low quality on low light, but it is awesome on any other situation.
6) Battery itself is smaller, but my XS can last a day.
7) It wins some points, lose anothers.
I'd go for TX. it's the latest Xperia, and it is really good. But if you can wait more, get the Xperia Yuga (codenamed yet) next year:
*5" FULL HD , WHITE MAGIC SCREEN with SENSOR ON LENS & BRAVIA ENGINE 2
*13MP EXMOR RS SENSOR with CYBER SHOT MODE & HDR VIDEO ( MAY EXTEND TO 16MP )
*FULL GLASS MADE with ALUMINIUM BITS , 8mm THICKNES & WATER-DUST PROOFING
*32GB ON BOARD STORAGE & EXPANDABLE MEMORY
*4G LTE COMPATIBLE
* 2GB RAM & QUAD CORE PROCESSOR SNAPDRAGON APQ8064 1.5 GHZ
*CLEAR AUDIO PLUS , CLEAR BASS , XLLOUD & WALKMAN
*2400 MAH BATTERY (WHICH MAY EXTEND TILL 3000 - FINAL PRODUCT )

1) is the new TX worth it since it can go head to head with quad core? quad core can this be utilized by such apps?
I honestly don't know what you could do with a phone that needs quad-core. Even 'highend' games run fine on my xs but maybe I'm missing something.
2) Never managed to scratch a Xperia, but I usually don't throw my phones around. Just remember that all Xperias come with an easily scrarchable preapplied screen protector that can be pulled off.
3) I still have around half of my 32gb free even though I have around 8gb of music on my phone. It depends on what you want to put on the phone.
4) my city has no 4g. Depends on where you live and if your contract includes it.
5) camera of the Xperias are amazing, but I think the ion has the best camera and screen.
6) the s3 I use for work.hardly lasts a day, and I'm not even gaming with it. Xs with the same use lasts 3 days. Might be because of the dual-core.
7) t is the latest flagship, the processor is Not as good as Samsung or HTC but the screen and design are way better.

[Q] Xperia S or Xperia P?

I wonder if it is a good idea to wait for Xperia P than to buy huge Xperia S.
Used Galaxy Ace for over 7 months and now I sold it. Thought to buy an S2 but I just hate that shape. No more samsung!!!
Always wanted to get my hands on Xperia Arc but many other good phones are out there now in the market. Like HTC Sensation XE, Galaxy S2, etc. People will laugh if I buy an arc now. But still arc is taking over my mind because its cost is very low now compared to other phones.
I already have 630$ in my amazon.com account (as gift card balance), but I have to add some $ 80 to it to buy Xperia S and ship it to India.
I prefer Xperia P over Xperia S coz:
Smaller in size (just 4.5mm width difference but I think it matters)
8MP is enough for me
HD screen is not a must (540X960 pixels is fine)
I don't want a HD front Camera (I don't want a front camera at all for another one or two years).
But S is better over P because of 32GB storage, 1.5GHz. Well at least I have to say myself that P costs less.
What I want to do now is buy an arc, use it for 4 or 5 months, then sell it and buy the Xperia P. By the end of april sure P will be released. And after another 2 months its price will also be reduced much, like all sony phones does.
What say, friends? Now should I buy Xperia S or Arc?
The S supports USB OTG as well, it's in another thread
it's your money, I like the S because of the speed, camera, size, and looks.
Ultimately it's what you think about the two, the P has the looks, but the rest isn't doing it for me

IMO it will be stupid to buy a Arc now only to sell it again in a few months. But that just me. If you have S2 now you have big screen. And after my experince once you got a big screen you never go back. Same with televisions. And besides the arc has nearly the same size screen as the S. So i don't see your logic? Games and pictures and video is so much better on a high resolution big screen. And if you wait for the P alot other mobiles will be released by then, and then you can't decide again.
Your argument about front faced camera, well i don't realy undestand it. I doubt i'll ever use my front faced camera other than taking pictures of my self. So nobody says you have to use it and you barley notice it on the S.
Buy the S. It's a great phone just like the Arc was. The Arc was also the flagship and the followers was Neo, Pro and play. The Sony Xperia S is also the flagship the U and P are just limited editions followers.
Buy the flagship.

So you think the Xperia S is too big but you are thinking of an S II?
I like handsets that i can operate with 1 hand. Its the main reason i walked away from the Galaxy Nexus Prime.
I had the X10 and the Xperia S is 5-10mm taller and a couple of mm wider.
I have no problem driving this animal with 1 hand.
Sony's policy (until now it seems) was to release a flagship model 2010 was the X10, 2011 was the Arc and this year is the 'S' until August anyway. Then they released a mid and lower range handset.
I know that if i got the lesser models i would always wishing i got the flagship instead.
Just my personal feelings and obviously you do as you please.
Just don't make a decision on what you think.
Get down to a mobile phone shop and get your choices in your hands. Your choice would be at least then justified and not on guess work.

I posted some early impression of the Xperia S HERE with some pics of Xperia S against arc.
- If you had any screen bigger than 4.0, Xperia P will be small
- Dual Core 1GHz should be enough but 1.5GHz could help you with some apps later
-There are differences between the two and Xperia S tops it out. I felt in love with Xperia P aluminum unibody and the fact doesn't have flaps for USB connection but once I got the Xperia S I forgot all of those fact.
Xperia S is good built quality phone to the extends that Xperia ARC feels like a little toy in front of it. Flap doesn't bother me at all and made the whole phone experience even better (as far as look)
You could always buy the Xperia S and then sell it whenever you want.
Good luck mate,

Flaps don't bother me also, when I'm thinking about using them.
What really bothers me is that, because the Xperia S has these flaps, this probably means that the Smart Dock Acessory that's available for both Xperia P and Xperia Ion does not work or is not supposed to work on Xperia S, which is supposed to be the company's flagship...

Yeah i'm slightly confused that Sony haven't made a dock for the S either. What with Ubuntu coming to Android this would have been an awesome accessory. Come home from work, dock the phone in and fire up a full fledged OS and carry on with work on a bigger screen. Obviously we can still do this with the HDMI out and the USB but seems a missed oppertunity.
i read somewhere that xperia s would work with livedock.. which is a lot better deal considering it won't go irrelevant once u upgrade your phone..

The sola is a whole other device with the floating touch thing and not really in the same ballpark even as the S and the P.
It's got only a 5MP camera
1Ghz Dual Core
3.7"
512MB RAM
No secondary camera
Apparently from what i'm reading: No Bravia engine
It does have the Novathor u8500 chipset though?
Sola vs S specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4408&idPhone2=4369
Sola vs P specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4408&idPhone2=4436
I think it's just meant to be a sort of a flagship floating touch phone with that being the main focus.
S is the mobile at the moment.
I have ordered it already and may get it in my hands by tomorrow.
Thank you guys for the suggestions.

I just don't know what to get. Help me!
Hello!
What's up? *insert ceiling joke here*
I'm going to tell you a funny story.
In January, I ordered the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S but it took so long to arrive and I fell in love with the SXS, so I cancelled!
I was sure to get the SXS but then I saw the P and asked myself 'do I really need a high-end model? As long as it has 1Gb ram it's cool for me. Right?' I got no answer.
The SXP looks very appealing... Not only for the dock, but for it's built and size...and in red is just stunning
I'm getting tired of waiting...and being confuse. I really want to try android... So many cool stuff to do.
I want to hear your opinions.

Dude.. Its not at all funny. It completely makes sense.
Frankly I felt the same thing as you. Arc S is a great phone and I always wanted to get it in my hands. But when SXS and SXP were announced I felt it is worth waiting for them.
Also I felt like 'Do I really need a high-end mobile?' (just like you felt). That is why I opened this thread.
SXP is a good one but its not yet launched.
Now if you can't wait to get an android mobile and if you can afford to buy a high end mobile then it is completely worth buying an SXS. Previously I used 'Galaxy Ace' and now am having a great time after getting the SXS. The mobile is simply amazing.
Also do check 'HTC One X'. It is also a high end model and it comes with ICS. But personally I love Sony. Also One X is longer and wider compared to SXS. Hence I went for SXS.

Lol in this case it's dudette.
I checked out the HTC One X and the One S but, HTC fans please forgive, it's not as beautiful as the SXS. Sony adds that mojo that makes you fall in love. Plus, I know SenseUI is pretty and has lots of tweaks however Sony's simplicity is pure win.
I'm going to wait a bit for the P, to hear about it from people who use it daily. Then I'll decide which to buy. I have to choose wisely, I'll be with one of them for 2 years

Hey! If you are going to wait for P to launch then there is nothing big to decide. Like I said previously, if you can afford to buy a high end mobile then SXS would be ideal option to choose. If you feel like high end mobile is not necessary then surely SXP would be the one for you. The point is both are quality mobiles in their range.
Even after the launch of P you cannot get proper opinions comparing them. Both come under different range. I am sure both users will say S is good (its sony's flagship afterall, isn't it?). Like I said, it all comes down to whether you can afford for it or not.
And it would be silly if you buy the S after the release of P because you like S more. I mean the wait would be meaningless, right?
Keep reading the reviews of SXS. I am sure you are doing it now. Also what do you feel about SGSIII?
I would say that the Xperia P is the smallest brother to Xperia S.
I was also thinking about Xperia P, but I wanted a little bit bigger screen, but with bigger screen, it means bigger phone. It's not very comfy to control the Xperia S with only one hand. I'm a teenager so I don't have big man hands.
And Xperia P was not available in my country at that time, and I desperatly needed a phone, so there was no other choice then Xperia S.
But I think I get used to this big Xperia S phone. It would be even more perfect if it wasn't that tall (tricky to control the phone with only the thumb over the big area of screen).
But if I went for the Xperia P, it would be like my old Xperia X10, with 1GHz processor, 8MP and same screen size, so upgrading wouldnt be that big of a deal, so I just went for something good when I already was buying a new phone in 2012!
Good luck chosing your phone!

[Q] What Will Be a good Successor For My aging X10?

I am thinking abote some options, and I can't decide...
any help would be nice XD.
my options:
- Sony Xperia Sola (cuz of the price, but what I dont like is the singel-core mali-400 GPU and only 512mb ram... dose it matter? can it play GTA 3?)
-Mtorola Razr (or MAXX - shuld I wait for the Maxx? does it whorth the price?)
-Asus padfone - for obvious Reasons, but when will it be available? price?
Or the timing is bad? cuz I see that the SGSIII is abote to come and other phones, I dont wannabe stuck with an old unsupported phone after less then 9 monthes....
Thank's...
P.S. If the post is in the wrong plase, Im sorry... Im new on XDA.
Could wait and see what sgs3 has to offer. To be honest I'm not too big a fan of the sola or raze. If anything the asus
I upgraded my x10 to the HTC one x last week. This phone is a beast. Absolutely amazing

thx, but I must say, Im not a fan of quad-core, I think its useless when a duel-core crotex a-15 can do better.
also, 4.3 is the largest screen for me....
abote the one s, any good? is has almost the same hardware as the padfone - is sense and the beats audio are better then the "tablet-abilyti? (what I do with my phone is play music mostly and game and camera...)
It will be a sad day when i finally lay my old x10 to rest
Im looking forward to seeing what the sgs3 has to offer... although if my x10 keeps chugging along the same as always, i could be checking out sgs4 or 5 or 6
Why not consider the xperia s? Sony Ericsson has disappointed me plenty but this new Sony phone has specs that are incredible...1.5 ghz dual core processor..with GB of ram with 32GB of internal storage...with the best screen quality of any smartphone out there..that would be my choice =)

Yeah but they need to hurry up on ICS, that's the only smartphone released in 2012 that has Gingerbread, hopefully they will get on to that. And battery life too, hopefully it will be tweaked on ICS.

Thx again,
Abote the xperia s - im realy no fan of SE after the satio and the x10,

Xperia Mini/mini Pro replacement

If you had to replace your Xperia mini or mini pro, what phone would you go for?
I have been looking at the new Xperia range but they are all too big; Xperia U, GO, solo.
The GO sounds like a good option as it's water and dust proof.
The U has a front camera which is good but no SD card
Both have dual processor but are 110mm in length and heaver than the mini.
The closest thing is the upcoming Miro but only has 800mhz processor.
Does anyone know if Sony are coming up with a mini/mini pro replacement (im not too fussed about hardware keyboard) with dual processor?
Or, do I move to another brand - not that there is anything available in similar size/weight at the moment
what is the reason for replacing your mini/minipro?
if its about me, i want to replace it with SGS2
why?
larger screen, slimmer, good processing power, lots of accessories, removeable battery (compare to xperia s/p/u)
microsd slot, and since the price quite stable in my country, so it indicates this phone is still a star in its class

Not looking to replace immediately - but one day , when they get old - so I am just exploring possibilities at the moment
I'd wait with wondering until the moment you'll decide to replace it. you never know how many great phones will be released until then.
Go for Xperia U
At this moment I would get myself a Xperia Neo....

I like the fact that my MP is small and has the pull-out keyboard. If I had to change right now, I would have either the Pro (the big one) or the SGS3.
The SGS3 isn't particularly unique and the lack of a physical keyboard would be a pain but it'd be nice to have something cutting-edge.

well i suggest you know what your need frst and your expectation
if you want to have a bigger screen, my opinion is use 3,7" - 4,3" display, it still comfortable to use with one hand
if you want your phone to have more upcoming update availability probably use minimum of dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM
if a physical keyboard is not a must, well theres plenty of choices out there
lots of new model from sony dont have user replaceable battery, you might consider that if someday the battery broke and need to replaced
well the rest is up to you
hope youll find the most suitable phone for you (as im looking forward too LOL)
Well if had to replace it i will go For :

Lost my Xperia S, What would other Xperia S owners would get as replacement?

Hey fellow Xperia S owners / Sony Android phone owners.
Last Friday night I lost my beloved Xperia S, and I'm still suffering.. I know the Sony Xperia S is not perfect by any means but I loved mine. I loved the looks with the transparent antenna strip, I loved the HDMI connection separate from the USB connection (Charging while Viewing Netflix for ex.) and even though I had a small show of yellow tint issue, it was not something that bothered me at all. I also loved the fact that is not a common phone (I'm yet to find someone else in person with one). Last but not least I had also familiarized with the phone, it's firmwares, ICS running fine finally, and this xda-developers Xperia S Forum of course.
So right now I'm stuck with the Phone I was given for free from my Carrier, an LG Optimus L5 (crappy phone), even though it has ICS, it's so inferior that it only makes me miss my Xperia S even more
Ok so I need to get me a new phone, and I can say I rather have another Sony phone, so I see that there are already a few models that are coming out soon: Xperia T (Flagship, Skinny Design) and Xperia V(Love the Water-resistant aspect, but Lacks on Front Camera Resolution) , but Like I've said before I really loved the Transparent Antenna Strip, and loved having the Illumination Bar App which would Blink Fast for a Missed Call, or Slow for a new SMS; So I'm also aware of the existence of the Sony Xperia SL (Overclocked CPU to 1.7Ghz compared to the 1.5Ghz on the Xperia S but still an S3 vs The S4 on the newer models T and V), but I can't find any reviews or benchmarks of the Xperia SL making it even harder for me to decide.
So that is the situation, I would like to know what other fellow XDA members would do in my case and/or what are the recommendations.
Sony Xperia T
Sony Xperia V
Sony Xperia SL
Sony Xperia S
Other ?
How do you lost it? I can't see someone losing a phone lol. But that doesn't matter. I'd pick up the Xperia T
"I got my values. So you can keep yours, OK?"
He probably misplaced it and cannot for the life of him recall where he might have left it. I've done that with an MP3 player or two.
I'd get another S. If the V becomes available by the time you make your decision (and it's reasonably priced), consider the V.
I don't even want think about it but I got really f*cked up in party @ a club on Friday and I sat on a couch and had the phone on my lap and I guess I just dropped it on the floor when I leaned to the side to throw up :banghead: .. so there you go, that's what happened
I would like to know if the CPU running at 1.7GHz on the Xperia SL helps on making the ICS OS smoother without hiccups and makes the phone more responsive, and also if the speed bump drains the battery a lot faster than the Xperia S. But I can't find any info on it

I don't even want think about it but I got really f*cked up in party @ a club on Friday and I sat on a couch and had the phone on my lap and I guess I just dropped it on the floor when I leaned to the side to throw up :banghead: .. so there you go, that's what happened
I would lime to know if the CPU running at 1.7GHz on the Xperia SL helps on making the ICS OS smoother without hiccups and makes the phone more responsive, and also if the speed bump drains the battery a lot faster than the Xperia S. But I can't find any info on it

On, I see. That's bad... I really don't know... I guess the performance will be slightly better, but dunno about battery

Motorola Razr HD: good and solid design, big battery, skin close to stock Android.
Nokia Lumia 920: beautiful unique design, good camera, cool new technologies (IMO most are gimmick but you may think differently), good screen.
iPhone5: beautiful beautiful beautiful and classy design (I really cant get enough of how pretty it is), good screen, good camera.
Honestly if I had the money I'd buy all of them
you know what i would go for the xperia T. having SL is like and S with overclocked cpu, nevermind the transparent strip, go fot the T its an S4 krait .
Xperia SL in silver...prettiest one among the bunch
Xperia T
I would go for the Xperia T or TX if you have to upgrade soon. The device looks very solid, and Sony has learned from the S.
If the V is available to you and the price is right, that's my second pick.
If I lost my Xperia, I would get a galaxy s (the original one) root and flash jb, change the battery, my wife has that now, easy 2 days with daily use (she uses it for work). Would be a good backup for when ur looking for another phone cheap as well, if u lose phones a lot has a nice screen and light

In the future, unless you're loaded and can afford to buy a new phone every few months, install something like Cerberus anti-theft on it. You have a high chance of finding it.

I suggest Xperia SL... But if you want a waterproofed version of the Xperia S + extended memory... Get Xperia Acro S.... I tried 64GB micro SD on my Acro S and it still works like a charm... With root. Haha 32gb external memory cap under sony acro s is FULSE!

when i would care about price/performance ratio it would be again the xperia s ...
when i don't care about that and i'd like a high end device it would be the xperia v
I would probably buy a P if I lost mine

get the T, end of the story really.
Depends on your demand of usage. Though i'll get the new Xperia T. Bond is the game lol nah seriously! it beats S3 n HTC on some serious level plus i have my faith on the new gen snapdragon chipsets & surely the battery can always be tweaked! my Xperia S runs for about 16-17hrs with normal usage so Mr.T can run longer or even perform better and definitely faster! Else, i will wait for the announced S4 PRO LG optimus G (Quads+2150mAh battery) but then again, i never actually liked the way LG looks. Xperia is the beauty with brain
or u could ship the TX from China , It dosent have that illumination bar but the XPERIA LOGO GLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHITE
like ur s
Consider HOX tegra variant mate, i flash it with Renovate rom and never look back.

Or you can wait for the new nexus line...

Its a great phone with great specs...
it has two shortcomings:
1. Non expandable memory! (though there is otg support)
2. Pathetic sony ics software!
Rest is good...brilliant phone except those 2 drawbacks!

Pros:
Low price dual core phone
multicolor light bar
front cam
ICS
5 MP main shooter
Mali 400 GPU
Bravia Engine
Cons:
Avg. pic quality
Only 4 gb user accessible memory
Not upgradeable to official Jelly bean
No external memory card support
3.5" screen but looks kinda small 'cause of 16:9 aspect ratio
Thats all i can think right now.
If you can live with ICS then instead of U go for Sola-great phone but if you crave for JB then go for P.
Here's a HEADS UP
Sony will release a 16k INR priced budget phone with a 4 inch display (FWVGA) and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in the next 2 months, wait for it and BUY IT! Better than any 2012 phone
This phone will pack a Dual Core Krait and 1 GB of RAM as well.

YUP better get the indian nexus!
For info: this phone is selling around 28/min
its the indian nexus!
Great bang for the buck, bought mine for 170 euros brand new last year. Lack of storage is not an issue for me, the only thing i wish it had is a bit more RAM (380MB is a tad small, at least real 512MB would be fine)

I'm waiting for this to launch in India
http://www.gizchina.com/2013/02/07/jiayu-g4-vs-umi-x2/
TERRIBLE touch screen quality
a lot of people like me had to get it repaired because the touch screen missed some letters etc.
really disappointed, I didn't expect such a low-quality component on a sony device.
I am waiting for my phone to come back from the repair center
great low cost phone. beautiful.

Really good phone _for_it's_price_! I mean every game I tried on it is smooth-semi smooth. To be honest on Gingerbread, the games performs much better than on ICS. Not just because there are more RAM available on GB, but I think the ICS driver for the GPU is a littlebit off, and it presents much slower/laggier gaming experience.
Not to meniton Camera... Ah, yes. So on ICS there is only MONO audio recording while recording video, and on GB the stereo is quite good! It's even got surround, if you watch the videos with headphones on, you will be surprised that you can easily know where is the sound coming (binaural recording, someone?).
To be honest I think Sony not made qiute a good job with ICS. So for me this phone is better with GB.
The manufacturing quality is good, really good. If you not get the cap off the phhone, it will never get lousy. Screen quality is awesome too.
Sony showed me that they have really good designers. OK, it's my own opinion, but I prefer sony design over any other brand's.
So far I love this phone, and the LED bar is just the tip of the iceberg
The phone specifications are definitely great however I was quite disappointed after ICS update, it took them so long to release it and it simply looks ugly for me. I rooted it, disabled a lot of programs so I get ~125 MB free ram and now using Holo launcher with stock lockscreen. Very nice bang for the buck.

Source? And how is that better than any 2012 phone? The Xperia S, Ion, Acro S, V, T are all better
All I know this laggiest phone I ever had even on GB settings lag and games perform way worse than they did on Live with Walkman.
Best phone for GB.
if you can tweak it a little and get rid of all the useless apps that sony gives in it, its quite a beast! at least for the money you pay for it! There are some great light custom ics or gb roms for it, works great whith those.
Mine runs better on ICS..I didn't tweak even a bit. Its close to jelly bean for me.
I m using generic .54 build by pipi..
Awesome phone and love the media apps!
Just a little tip guys, Enable FORCE 2D ACCELERATION in dev settings and your phone will fly.
When I bought it, I was thinking it will get nice ICS, and later good JB update. Now Im disappointed - ICS is laggy as hell, camera quality and speed is poor, game performance is low, even with ~150 free ram there are trouble with some games. Old GB is wayyyyy better.
I make mistake and didnt check bluetooth before buing - its only 2.1 and theres no way connecting phone to elm327 car adapter.
I regret selling my GalaxyS...
