Hello xda-developers :b
Not sure if I'm the only one who noticed it, but the last days I tried a few of the newer ROMs and they were just awesome. But I discovered a little bug which appeared in all of them:
If you silence the phone (vibrate mode) and increase the volume by just one step, you can clearly hear that this volume level is much louder than step 2. If you're coming from step 2 and decrease volume to 1, everything's just fine.
I'm not really sure in which ROMs this malfunction is present but I tried latest ParanoidAndroid (2.54), CyanogenMod (10; latest nightly build), and a few Mix-ROMs like the JellyBAM ROM by iGio90. I also tried a few kernels but it didn't solve the problem either.
It's not really a big deal but since CM10 and PA ROMs often act the part of base-ROMs this bug spreads out =/
I'd be very thankful if a few people with SGS2 and custom ROMs could tell me if all volume steps are appropriate and how they set up their phone.
Thanks in advance,

i am using the latest RR v3.1.2 (AOKP JB Build M1) with the latest Dorimanx kernel v7.17 and have no issue of Volume bug with it
This is true, I have that too with vSynch Cm10 changmin. I've seen in the cm10 changelog something about sound for next build so let's wait and see.

And thanks to Sun90 Maybe I'll just switch back to Resurrection ROM.. gonna check it's features :b

Believe it or not but apparently this was meant to be a feature I cant remember where but I read it was a feature incorporated into the source, not sure which idiot approved that or if im wrong and it really is a bug. Who on earth wants a feature like that? Its annoying.
Haha Yeah, I don't want to be disrespectful since I see how much time and love all the developers (especially CyanogenMod team) put into their works. But to be true: Even if you can use the simple workaround to decrease the volume to level 1 it's just f**king annoying
Well, if this is a feature.. it's a really weird feature
Anyways, we'll see what time brings and can only hope
Thanks for all the responses

Off-topic: Do you know any way to get this button of Paranoid Android to clear the list of recent apps? Or at least the "Kill all" button like in AOKP? :$ I really like this feature but I didn't find any mod that can do it I'd be very happy with CM10, since it's updated very often - but this is the only feature I'm missing :$
Hope you know what I mean...

With paranoid, I don't know how to have. With normal recent apps there is but never tried to see how it is with paranoid mod. Maybe ask that on jellybam thread ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
What exactly do you mean with "With normal recent apps there is [...]"? The CM10 build I've tried a few weeks ago didn't have that option. Does yours have it? Are you using a stock CM10 ROM?
- experience7
Watch this screen. On the right top corner you can see a button for kill all apps. In jelly bam and cm10 vSynch there is that button.
Normal mode is without paranoid enabled.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Ah yeah.. in JellyBam I know that button But unfortunately it's not there in stock CM10 ROMs I've downloaded latest CM10 nightly build for our beloved SGS2's and installed it as secondary ROM.
I've written a message to TopDroid. He's got advanced knowledge if it comes to editing SystemUI.apk files I would be so damn happy if he could help me out and explain that stuff to me a little bit. I'm not a developer but I've managed to decompile SystemUI.apk from both Paranoid Android and CyanogenMod 10 It's really not that difficult.. but understanding the code in smali and xml files is my problem
- experience7
Waiting your return about what you asked. If you can add that or if this toggle will be added in cm10 stock, tell it to me there so . And is there the sound bug in latest cm10 ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Hello Bkam13
Okay, here are some facts of my lats researches
- 1. The button which clears out all the recent apps of the list isn't existing in latest CM10 nightly build for GT-I9100.
- 2. I wrote a message to TopDroid, but he told me, that I should contact the developer of the ROM because he can't modify the smali files to get it working...
- 3. The sound bug is still there in the latest CM10 nightly build
Hope I was able to help you,

thank you, it worked very handy when cmteam doesnt give much progress
the OC flickering is still there though (surely stock-kernel related, just to let others know)

I believe that it is no good idea to compare the newest build (I assume you refer to RC1) with the older KANG that was based on an older build (I assume the nightly of march 5), because in the meantime a couple of other files were changed that had nothing to do with the camera.
Instead one should only compare this older build with the KANG, as I have done.
It totally suffices to replace the files indicated in my post below. This also fixes the rotation bug, but apparently does not "break" any other changes made in later builds.

flashing the zip and solving the exposure problem (now selecting exposure affect the brightness) and rotation (now photo result orientation match the phone position)
however exposure setting is too low, I have to manually change to +3 for normal outdoor photo every time I start camera app.
is there any fix to setting default exposure value?

Aokp build 32 comes with a glitch kernel I compiled today... is that new enough for you. ;-)
Sent from my glitched aokp unicorn.
So this morning I flashed 32-aokp-glitchy to my Samsung Galaxy S - Fascinate (i did it from a 2.3ota odin successfully when i just updated it i was stuck in a bootloop with cwm) and oh man do I love this mod! Epic!!! I love it!!
I don't know what how the regular aokp build 32 responds vs the glitchy build but letme tell you this is the first time i've had the software phantom keypress fix and glitch also claims usb otg host mode but i haven't tried it yet ( i have a cable i'll let you guys know ). The keypress fix works beautifully, i really hope they include it in the next milestone instead of making us go to glitch!
It was also a little bit of a pain in the ass removing stock system apps from the os like built in launchers and ****. Just use a root-explorer and navigate over to /system/app/ and delete the files there you don't want from the build.
Also, the software navbar threw me off pretty hard since I flashed originally from build 29. Originally, software control for the navbar was in the rom control under settings but now its under the power control tab.
I had no idea where to find that but thanks to the guys at teamkang i figured it out! You guys are awesome!! I have mad respect and love for all of you devs!!
Hey guys whens the next cyanogenmod 9 or 10 stable gonna be released?
Im currently running the nightly of cm-9 and notice theyve sorted out the camera flash.
is it just a matter of sorting out fm and hdmi now?

In fact I dont see any improvement in using jelly bean :S

For me, there are only 3 problems with the current CM10, and I'm flashing it since Preview #2.
1 - HW Composer not fully working, causing minor hiccups on animations and scrolling
2 - FM Radio not working properly
3 - Memory leak after a time using it (you have to reboot the phone daily)
That's all, but in my opinion, it's WAYYYY better than ICS already.
Thx for the input. From the way it sounds me thinks ill go cm10 later tonight!

Just use Nova Launcher.
Camera is just fine.
I'm asking myself that question, too. I stuck with sammy rom right now but I want to change to cm10 as soon as possible. The cm10 releases are "experimental" at the moment, which says to me to not use it as daily driver.
I don't find cm10 any smoother or faster than stock sammy based roms but I find it much cooler esp. the theme chooser is awesome. cm10, apex launcher and aosp sammy camera is an awesome combination. I would stuck which that if a stable release of cm10 would be right around the corner and just like you I don't know if the rom is very early or as good as ready

Not sure if any of you have run into this yet, but I am using Pocket Casts to listen to netcasts, when I shut off the screen everything keeps playing fine, however when I turn back on the screen the phone soft reboots. Does it at the same spot every time. I tried moving the netcasts to the sdcard instead of external sd as a test. Still does it...
This happens to me on both the Aug 8th and 9th build from DAGr8, But does not happen on any of the other JB previews builds. And Yes, I wiped everything
I use my phone in the car for netcast listening a ton, so this is something that keeps me from using this daily unfortunately.
Other than that, everything else seems to run great. just seems like an odd thing to reboot the phone, maybe it has something to do with the audio players and how they interact with the lock screen as they like to put up a player wallpaper thing on the lock screen...
Thanks for the Q&A!!

The hotwire-internal kernel should work fine with DAG's JB rom, not sure if it'll fix your issue or not, but should be easy to test. But I don't see a kernel package from DAG if you wanted to flash back...
I prefer the hotwire-internal kernel myself as it has BLN support where as the R5S1 included with this rom i think does not? if that's important to you...

Loving the Aug 9th build except for a few issues (incl the Google Now referred to above) - the changelog states that "wake on volume" is built in but it neither works nor do I see a setting to turn it on like in other CM9/CM10. Do any of you have that?
On the kernel thing would we just flash the AOKP JB and then flash hotwire's internal.zip, then followed by JB Gapps?

I can't find that setting either.
As far as the flashing sequence, that should work although I did AOKP, JB GAPPS and just a few minutes ago flashed hotwire's internal. No issues to report.
I used to change kernels all the time on my Nexus, I would just flash the kernel whenever, no wiping. Can't hurt to wipe cache/dalvik, but no need to reflash the ROM.

Features and changelog?
I'm sure I will feel dumb when someone answers this but I could not find the feature list or changelog for JB. The AOKP site only references ICS milestone 6 as the latest. I tried following the links from the DEV thread and I tried a google search which led to rootzwiki but I didn't find anything for the Galaxy Note. and when hitting the download page... i found actually nightly builds for the p760  here > http://get.cm/?device=p760
i don't know if this is already old news but i didn't see this on our forums :highfive:
ps: after flashing the RC1, i found a bug: no sound coming out of the speakers (ringtones, music, alarms....) this is normal for a non-stable build, but today 9/05/2013 they released a nightly build, i guess it fixes this problem
Very old every knows this ..check the orginal developement thread it is there ..

We're getting updates almost everyday. The minor bugs will all be squashed soon and we can leave stock. I'm on today's nightly and heck, I'm not switching back.

Do a backup for your current Rom, and try the latest nightly build for p760. If it works then it's great. If not... then just wait.
Try it, you have nothing to lose.
And please let us know what happens.

Have you pals noticed the RELEASE CANDIDATE 1 for P760.
http://get.cm/?device=p760&type=RC
This is RC1 build and it is more better than Nightlies and SnapShot builds. But not as good as Stable release.
THIS CAN BE USED ON P765 ALSO. Have flashed several nightlies on my P765 until last week and they work without any issue. Only sometimes BASEBAND and RIL mismatch issue. Flash on Indian BASEBAND. Only NFC feature is missing in P765 and does not give any trouble.
WARNING: DON'T USE ON P769/P768 AND P778.
Am using RC1 but when i flashed it there was no sound. then i flashed hot fix. now sound is working fine but still speaker phone dont work when on call. I dont get echo on my side but people on the other side gets echo of their voice.

Ya i have tried it . Speaker sound is fine. But still during call volume is very low.
there's a nightly everyday, which means they are working on it, and hopefully we will get a stable release by the end of Google I/O that fixes all sound issues and the 1080p recording. Google will release a new version of android this week (MAY 15/17) that's why cyanogenmod team will first fix CM 10.1 before starting to work on the next CM 10.1.X

FYI, If the changes/updates are NOT model-specific, then many CM nightlies are automatically built by bots/servers and not actually by devs. That means they dont work on it everyday on particular model. But if model/people request some special attention, devs work hard on it and test. Of course, snapshot, RC1 and Stable builds are tested by devs.
RC3 is out check first post for the download link.
I hope some of our problems are fixed in this latest release candidate.
