Long story short. Was on a custom rom. Factory Reset. Buggered everything up.
I can't get into recovery mode. And my download mode isn't working.
The original boot logo doesn't appear (with the triangle) -- it just goes STRAIGHT into download mode -- and Odin isn't recognizing the phone.
Would love for you guys to try and figure this one out lol
Have you used odin before perhaps the pc is missing the drivers?

Yes. My buddy beside me has Odin on his computer working -- tested it on his SGS and it works fine.
When mine is in download mode, it doesn't recognize it. Nothing happens. The initial boot logo doesn't even appear -- which is incredibly strange. It just goes STRAIGHT into download mode and ODIN doesn't recognize the phone (no "added" thing appears)
I do believe this is bricked. Recovery doesn't work at all either. And if I turn the phone on and press the home button a few times -- the entire screen flashes white and black over and over.
I guess last resort is a USB jig ?

u need to download the lastest KIES version then plug your phone to your PC/LAPTOP, then update DRIVERS and KIES FIRMWARE to the latest version, before u open ODIN u need to close KIES, then disable temporary anti-virus/anti-malware and run ODIN with ADMIN previledge, and your phone will detect ODIN, as long as you can go to DOWNLOAD MODE or RECOVERY MODE

I am not sure it's the drivers. Why? Because my friend who works beside me has the drivers installed. He put his phone (exact same phone) into download mode and it connected fine. This means his drivers work.
It would do nothing when i connected while in download mode.
the jig is the last resort.
If the jig doesn't work, is it possible I am the first ever to brick a phone galaxy phone?
lol

You're not the first nor the last to brick this phone.
USB jig isn't likely to help since it's used to force the device into download mode. Try to find a JTAG service in your area.

my t-mobile galaxy s2 is dead after ICS upgrade failed
i am noobi. my galaxy s2 went through 2 stages before becoming dead.
1. i tried to flash I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar using odin. it got stuck in connection mode. then failed. when rebooted the phone, i got a message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue".
2. now, odin still sees it. I tried different ROMs then the phone becomes dead. the phone is dead even after pressing the vol up+vol dn or any other key combination.
Now, windows 7 reports driver error when connecting the phone via usb. Linux sees the Qualcom modem, but heimdall failed to detect the phone. Any suggestion beside throwing my phone in trash is appreciated.
If you can't get into download mode (home/power/volume down), only thing you can try before you send it back to Samsung or get it JTAG repaired is a jig, which unfortunately is unlikely to work. Still worth a try tho.

I had the Exact same problem as you this is what you need to do.
1. Take everything out of your phone micro sd ,sim battery
2.Get your Usb Port and connect the first side to your pc but not to the phone
3.Insert Battery
4.Hold the vol down butt and at the same time connect the Other side of the cable into the phone then you will see
DOWNLOAD MODE!!!!!
5.From there install your sock rom again using samfirmware.com

Guide: How to fix a bricked SGSII from failed flash, no recovery & no usb recogntion
Now Fixed. - Thanks: Below is the guide to how I broke and fixed it with a little help from my XDA Friends. Maybe the MODS could sticky it as a unbrick guide to go alongside the rest?
So I was flashing a ROM through Odin as per the instructions on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
The flash failed and when I restarted my phone I was left with the following:
1)No Access to Recovery Mode through Vol Up + Home + Power
2)Access to Download Mode through Vol Dwn + Home + Power
3)PC would recognise a device was connected on any USB port but kies or Odin Could not detect the phone
4)when phone started or attempted to be put into rec mode just a splash screen saying firmware upgrade failed and a picture of a phone and pc with a yellow warning triangle.
The Cure:
1)Uninistal and Re-Install Kies and Samsung Mobile Device Driver
2)Pureley by accident left my phone connected on flash screen of death through the process and on loading ODIN it connected perfectly right away
3)Set PDA to ROM and flashed.
4)Reflashed as per normal routine again due to boot loop this time in download mode.
5)Factory Reset via Recovery Mode to force CSC update to match ROM
6)*When it arrives use USB jig to re-set flash counter to 0*
Step 2 is not advised as goes against what all the instructions say, please try download mode before this method I don't know if it was just luck I didn't further mess up the phone, but to be honest bar screwing my IMEI it couldn't get much worse! And as I said I found it by accident and it worked. Don't know if anyone has an explanation. From the message on the screen and what I read on Kies ref the emergency recovery I think this is a kind of emergency download mode for when stuff goes wrong as it hints kies can fix it from this screen.
I tried to flash the 02 2.3.5 file from the carrier branded thread, followed all instructions. File was a .tar.md5 i left as is as per instructions.
the flash failed when the phone powers up i get upgrade failed, I can get to download mode but odin doesn't recognise the phone as being connected ive tried multiple usb ports
kies also wont recognise it
i cant access recovery mode
is there any way back?
ive read most of the other posts but don't seem to be getting anywhere other than fustrated!
In kies there's an option to install drivers, try that first and see if it'll find the phone again.
kies
no joy that root, the pc knows its there as every port i plug into it wants to install drivers for device and does so
Remove Samsung Kies from phone and reinstall it and try again .
jje
Cheers will report back, what i don't get is why i cant get to recovery mode would make things easier! Can a jig do this? If i try i just get the failed update screen
I also get same. Screeb when plugged into charger does thos mean its not even charging?

On that screen, the phone is effectively in Download Mode already.
Just connect Odin and flash away, did it on my phone a lot of times already (I sometimes forcefully enable this screen manually - don't ask why - and always flashed directely from there.)

You can try this guide by @SuperMini to force open Download Mode from odin. Here is the link,
How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy Ace
Make sure to use the key combination of Download Mode for your device as the one mentioned in the guide is for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. If that doesn't work, then you can try the USB Jig (not always guaranteed to work). If USB Jig did work, then it will force open the Download Mode so you can flash stock rom back using odin. If USB Jig doesn't work either, then your last option is to consult the Service Center. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

1. make sure you have installed drivers on your computer
2. remove battery > connect phone to computer > press volume buttons and lock key
3. if you get a black screen just press the volume up button.
odin will recognize the device
if this does not work then try multi-formatter
using it, format rfs partition and then install some custom rom.

Hello everyone, it's with a great thrill that I found a couple of days back the existance of the beautiful wackyrom available on your forum.
After considering it I took willingly the risk of installing it... and following all indications of flashing cwm via odin and wiping all for of data in the proper oder, I got myself stuck in a pretty unpleasant situation : CMW recovery loop. I tried to start from scratch again and again and I even tried to go back on the stock firmware (which wasn't the original french one installed on my phone but a foreign one). I know I may have made a newbie mistake, but seeing the strength of your helping community Im hoping to revive what now looks more to me like a brick phone than ever. Flash this Stock recovery via odin : http://d-h.st/hcA
Instruction:
1) Put phone in download mode by powering off ,home button and volume down while plugging the phone into the computer(if don't and don't understand search google their are many guides and videos for it)
2) You should now see the first square in Odin turn yellow and say "Ready"
3) Click on the pda tab in Odin and select the Stock_Recovery_GT-I8552.tar you downloaded
4) Click start and wait for your phone to reboot
5) Done!
Well, I should have added that to the list of things that I have tried before. The only divergence to your methode is the fact that the keys to force start the downloading mode does not work so I only can acces it thrue a restart in downloading mode within CWM...

Dear friends,
Install Samsung kies and it will install all the proper drivers for your phone.
Then use another port of your pc or laptop to connect with odin.
If changing your pc ports doesn't work then try to install kies on another pc perhaps.
After the phone gets connected to pc follow @lols21.10 instructions.

not either. because my phone need to be turned on in normal mode when connect to my pc, then i need to choose the usb option whether to transfer files/camera/charging.
and only then Odin say "ready"
Do this: put your device in download mode and then you reflash firmware with Odin.
You can do this by turning your phone on pressing the buttons HOME, POWER and VOL DOWN. When your phone vibrates, release POWER and keep pressing ther other two. A screen with a warning will appear, and you press VOL UP to confirm. After that, you open Odin, plug your phone on computer and select the stock firmware by clicking on button "PDA" at Odin. And then it is just start and wait.

Hello
My situation goes as follows: I'm on a Cyanogenmod 11 nightly, as I flash a new ROM from time to time. So I know how to get into recovery and that kind of things. I've installed TWRP recovery, instead of the CWM one. I'm on a mac by the way.
As I was a little bit fast, I accidentally rebooted into download mode instead of recovery. Now my phone remains that way, only without the info in the top left (normally it says ODIN Mode and four other lines of information).
I tried to get the battery out and to drain the battery, both gave the same result: it booted in "downloading... do not turn off target !!"
I tried ODIN, Kies, Heimdall and adb trough terminal, and even the CM installer; none of these things seemed to recognize my phone.
I've been googling for over two hours now and I'm getting desperate. Is my phone ready for the bricks? I can't go to a shop tomorrow as it is the national holiday in Belgium. So still 32 hours of trying ahead of me...
Any ideas? If you guys have any additional questions, please ask.
Thanks in advance

Are you familiar with the PC flashing tool Odin? It's specifically for Samsung devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539
Download and install Odin onto your PC it will flash a stock image onto your device (No root, Stock recovery)
http://www.sammobile.com
Head to Sammobile and download your ROM firmware specific to your device.
Run ODIN on your computer and connect your phone.
When it recognizes it, check "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time".
Everything else should be left unchecked.
On your computer, unzip the ROM file you downloaded. It should give you something with the extension of
.tar.md5
Press "PDA" on ODIN and select this file.
Everything should be as shown here: http://gyazo.com/fea7a1c8b7a7b5bb287fb0a0c70056dc
Click Start and wait for it to do it's thing. It'll take quite a few minutes.
When it's finished, you're done.
If it hangs on boot ones it flashed, reboot to Stock Recovery and do a factory reset it should boot up fine now, (also 1st boot takes about 3 minutes.)
Let me know how it goes

If it hangs on boot ones it flashed, reboot to Stock Recovery and do a factory reset it should boot up fine now, (also 1st boot takes about 3 minutes.)
Let me know how it goes
