Hey guys, i'm Elias and this is my first post here.
i got my galaxy S3 for a while now and have been waiting to update to jellybean anxiously.
i finally got the update last Thursday, and i must say i was amazed.
Sunday night, 4 days after i updated to jellybean, I've had a problem with maintaining wifi connectivity through my S3. This means that whenever i connect it to wifi, it stays connected for about 15 minutes, then automatically stops without giving me a sign whatsoever(the wifi logo is still showing and it has full connectivity bars) although i never encountered this problem before. i checked my connection through my laptop and other phones in my house, it was stable. i reseted the router, nothing. i already have wifi power saver mode off so i tried putting it back on and it didn't work, so i put it back off.
i tried a factory reset, it worked fine for about 30 mins until i finished re-downloading most of my apps, then the problem persisted.
The only solution is that i should turn wifi off on my phone then back on, and it's frustrating to do that every 15 mins!
i really need to know if i'm the only one experiencing this because it's really getting on my nerves, and i need help from anyone.
Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same problem, but with custom JB ROMs. This is only relevant if you're phone is rooted, but I resolved it by:
- Wiping/factory reseting the phone
- Wiping the cache partition
- Wiping the Dalvik cache
- Re-installing the JB ROM
- Wiping the cache partition
- Wiping the Dalvik cache

Hello all..long time lurker, first time poster. Yesterday my 3g data started malfunctioning. It just won't connect at all. I've rebooted, flushed the dalvik cache, uninstalled Juice defender and a few other things I could think of. Nothign seems to help. I didn't install any new software or update any apps either. Anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this and how to fix it? Wi-Fi works fine.
I'm running superfrakenclean 2.6 with voodoo. As I mentioned before, it was working just fine and then it didn't. any help is appreciated.

I would wait a few hours.. my phone did that awhile back too.. and the next min i look at my phone and all is well again...... it could just be verizon messing with some towers around your area....
Ive searched the forums, googled, factory reset, messed about with *#0011# power save, rebooted/forgot router and I'm STILL having issues with the wifi dropping and reconnecting periodically (maybe once every 10/20 mins?) . Im on BLG8 which is as far as i can tell the latest firmware (im not rooted) for the UK.
Has anyone got a solution to this? The main reason is I use Skype a lot and the call will just drop (obviously) with the wifi drop outs.
No other device has issues with my wifi router.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Does it make any difference how far you are from the router? Does it always connect fine initially?
I'm having the same issue and i've tried every fix that has been suggested. I dont understand after spending the amount of money i did on this phone that i have to run through the dialer to get it to work properly sometimes. Then other times it still drops out and wont come back on for 5 to 10 minutes. I've changed roms, kernels, and wiped completely i dont know how many times and went back to stock. Still works sometimes and hangs up others. There doesn't seem to be a permanent fix for people lucky enough to have this issue still. My 30 day return is way up and gone so i cant send it back. Samsung cant seem to give me an answer. I'm at a loss for words.

My 30 days was up, it's still been replaced under warranty. I took it to CPW who sent it away, it came back 'fixed' so I asked them to log into their WiFi... of course, they couldn't and the guy said he would order me a new phone but it would need to come from Samsung. My new one has blazing fast WiFi!
i have the same problem. i was hoping a new rom would fix it, but FWIR its busted. i get 2 bars MAX no matter how far i am from teh router. its fast enough, but it drops out constantly.
also my screen is sometimes slow to turn on from sleep.
im on vodaphone if that makes any difference.
Guys... I had a very similar problem with my phone.
First of all WiFi became very unreliable.. like yours. I changed ROM and it still persisted. I even went completely back to stock.. and it still persisted. Dropping out.. no reliable connection etc etc.
Then it started being really weird.. the touchscreen started responding intermittently. Sometimes I couldn't get it to unlock. And this was all on stock.. no root etc.
I was ready to send it back to be repaired.. and I came to the conclusion that there must be something staying the same.. even after a wipe / reflash. Maybe one of the other partitions was corrupt???
Now I'm not clever enough to investigate.. but I did come to the conclusion that a repartition may wipe everything and make it a real fresh install next time.
So I found an appropriate .pit file and stock ROM and used Odin to flash the ROM and partition the phone.
And it is now all fully functioning again.. no WiFi issues at all.
RTFM THO FFS! Potential for complete brick if you get it wrong

just..want..to..delete this post.........and I can't...so there is now filler here....GG k thx bai
It seems to have improved with the latest JB leak, still every now and then but certainly better - i did a full factory reset + cache wipe in stock recovery (im unrooted etc). Still, would a modified kernel/modem fix this very common issue?
This problem is everywhere it seems.
OK so really weird update: my screen unlock is still a bit slow, but my wifi hasnt dropped for a few hours. i went through all the vodafone crap and updated/ran/configured it all, and now it seems fine. seemed vodafone wanted to verify my phone+sim details but couldnt over the wifi so kept trying to do it over the 3g, but couldnt do it quickly enough so the wifi cut it back out again. I have a headphone amplifier that is very sensitive to mobile phone signals. it beeps 4 seconds before i get a message or phonecall, and "ticked" at me whenever my wifi dropped out. its not ticked in hours.
TL;DR anyone on vodafone, run your "my vodafone" application and configure it all. might fix it.
Mine drops wireless a lot when connected to wireless A networks. It seems stable on wireless N networks. Anyone else notice A networks to be worse?

I suddenly had a wifi problem. It happened around two weeks ago. I suddenly was not able to connect to my home wifi when I was more than 2 or 3 meter away from my router.
I've had my S3 for a little over two years now. I upgraded to 4.3 early this year. All updates were done OTA here in the Philippines. But this just suddenly happened last week. There were no updates and I can't remember ever downloading a new app that may have caused this.
I have tried absolutely everything:
1. Tried flashing new modems and kernels.
2. Tried flashing CM11 then wifi fix patch - didn't work. I flashed boeffla kernel - it just made it worse, I could connect when I was near the router but couldn't use the internet - it just showed wifi was connected but with slow or no internet.
3. I tried flashing back to stock rom and even updating with kies but still the same problem.
4. I flashed Android Revolution HD v52. Tried different modems on it. Flashed wifi fix. This still didn't work so I tried boeffla again. No luck.
5. I tried the murata fix through terminal emulator and still didn't fix it.
Right now I'm running on Android Rev HD v52. I'm still hoping someone has a way to fix this.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Can anyone help me, please??

If you really tried so much things, maybe your hardware is damaged, the wlan adapter in your smartphone or something
I had a similar thing yesterday, on stock 4.3. It started with the unstable internet messages for a week or so. Then yesterday, it would connect to wifi, but apps saw no internet. Cleaning cache did nothing, forgetting and reacquiring wifi did nothing. Factory reset did nothing. Flashing a different 4.3 did noting. Rolled back to 4.2.2, which used to work fine, and still had the problem. I had given up at this point, figuring it was a hardware problem. Flashed 4.3 again, and miraculously it started working again.
I am really getting pretty fed up with Samsung at this point.

I've replaced my S3 antenna and nothing changed. Haven't found any answer só far. I have a post asking for help on the same issue. I've evento got my S3 to see full power of WiFi access-points (changing drivers), but then its unable to connect
Change radio channel of wifi network.
Hi, I have the exact problem with S3. I did everything like flashing roms clearing cache. If someone found a fix then kindly share. Thanks.

just got this issue, anyone fixed it?
Hello everybody, Today I've found small problem about wifi! First, I connected to wifi after I used it few hours my device can't use wifi(still connected but no data)for 20 seconds and came back to normal ?(I checked my wifi by used my other phone in same time the problem shown up so not router issue) I just wanna ask that have you guys face this after March update?
Just had a couple of issues, but atm working fine. We need more time to test it and more people experiencing same issue.
on my side when it started having problems with wifi, it will not recover, and would eventually disconnect itself from the WiFi. Manually connecting back to it will always fail. However it would be back to normal after a reboot. Not sure if the update screwed up the system. Would do a clean reinstallation when 8.1 update is deployed.
My wifi problems started with a previous update, but after this march update its even worse and nearly makes my phone unusable. It disconnects every 2 minutes or so and then can't connect back, unacceptable bug for a flagship. It's strange that Sony haven't fixed this yet and I hope they'll sort it out soon.
So far I'm not experiencing this issue.
Hi, my phone was updated to EMUI 9 (uk) two days ago and I cannot get wifi download speeds or more than 0.5 mb. I've tried all the options offered on google search - reset network, reset router (all other devices are fine), and finally did a factory reset, then tried to go back to EMUI 8 (didn't cure the problem), did another factory reset and still have the same problem. I wondered if anyone else had problems - I can see on the internet that several have a problem in that the phone won't boot after the update but can't find anything about the wifi on the honor 9 - any suggestions would be much appreciated please (polite ones )
Tracey

No, I've got that switched off, it makes no difference if it is on to the speed though!
I think I had same issue yesterday and this morning. It was only download speed issue. I restarted my router and now is everything okay but I will keep monitoring.

You have made me think - I did restart the router, but we have a modem + router set up so when the moaning minnies in the house have finished gaming I will restart the whole lot and see what happens - thanks to you and shashank1320 for the help, it is much appreciated.

I have got to the bottom of the issue - it turns out it was nothing to do with the update at all! Having reset the modem and router with no luck, my husband was having trouble watching football over the internet so I went back into the router - turns out my delightful son decided to put my phone into the Qos and limit it to .5mb - it was downloading the other night (I presume the EMUI update) and interfering with his gaming so he thought he'd move it out of the way along with his dad's tv. He is not popular!
Thanks for all the help, it is very much appreciated
