Stable rom - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I hate posting posts like this as should just try and see buuuut... Lately I've been using playing with my galaxy s 3 so my 16gig tablet has been just laying around... I'm using cm7 on it currently however noticing that it's only a 2.7 I think kernel/Os I've been pondering between cm9 or 10. Has either reached stability for daily driver use? Cm7 works for me but figure cm9 or 10 as it's made more so for tablets would be better. Any other suggestions? Primarily will use the tablet for the in between my phone to my laptop some games and Web browsing. Graphic acceleration would be nice as I remember that was an issue last I knew with the newer cms

All the CM10 builds are solid. I went straight to CM10 from Stock, and haven't looked back (though I do miss the stock reader app.) Every other day a new build comes out, not all are the exactly the same, but they're all built on the same foundation, CM10. If you're already on CM7, just make the jump, it'll be fine.

I've used 2 of the cm10 5 point touch roms now , cherry picks and the 1.2ghz posted by Tonyp23 both run excellent on the existing old firmware I haven't updated that yet. Graphics issues with games have greatly improved with the newer 5 point roms. That had been my only reason for holding off on the change previously. The 1.2 ghz rom seems just a little more stable oddly.

Firstly please don't post question threads in the Development forum as no question belongs there, it's for development only.
Unfortunately which ROM/best ROM/stable ROM threads are not allowed on the forum because they are very subjective and each individual has their own opinion what is stable or good to them and what's stable for one person may be unusable to another due to their needs. You'll just end up more confused then when you started.so we discourage these posts.
The best advice is to try them for yourself and then make an informed decision about what works best for you. If you don't wish to then you can simply read the ROM threads as there are already plenty of opinions within them and most have a useful changelog including what works and doesn't so you'll know in advance which has the features you want.
Thanks

Please I need help with Rom selection.

Hey Xda people,
So this is my situation. I have a HTC senseation and I am using to updating roms etc. However I have a friend with HTC legend where her stock rom has stopped working, the touch freezes. So I said I would help root and put a new rom on.
I have been reading the extensive forum and found lots of conflicting information. Which normally would be fine because if I found a rom did like it I would change it straight away. However this is for a friend that's it not tech savvy, and it need to work right and be the best first time around. So I need help in choosing the right rom and radio firmware etc. The requirements are quite simple her is not a power user. important things a battery life and stability.
please help

My opinion, for simplicity, stability, reliability, performance & where everything simply "works", you can't go past cyanogen mod, latest stable is 7.2 (there have been some nightly's released since 7.2 came out which work for me without issue). If you want something a bit more fancy go for homICS its based on cm7.2 anyway, with quite a few tweeks of course these are all gingerbread 2.3.7 there are a few froyo roms that are also pretty much perfect eg. blay0s b0.8.4 & some others I can't think of as I type that would also be worth considering.
There are plenty of other great roms too, but I didn't specificaly mention any of them as they are pretty much still W.I.P. and not quite 100% yet, but it might be worth having a read through the associated threads anyway...

This question sounds or could be in the Nook Tablet Q & A forum. The closest thing to stable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877217 beside certain games title don't work as noted in "Known Issues:" may want to try this even though it listed as UNOFFICIAL. 12/10 is pretty close to a complete solution if you don't mind flashing updated roms and gapps.

I know that when I asked this question once I got this reply which actually was good advice. If you ask 10 people which ROM is best you will get ten different answers. You just need to do your research and pick the one that will give you what you need with the least amount of issues. What is good for someone else is not always good for you. I still use cm7. Doesn't mean that it is the best available, but it provides what I need. It is hard to decide what to use, just try them all until you find what is good for you.

Thanks, I usually try and do my research before asking a question, I've been flashing since the OG Droid but there's nothing solid for the NT as mentioned above by Vector. I'm aware of the few ROMs out with some issues. Getting 10 different answers will always give me an idea of where 10 different ROMs stand which will give me a better insight on them so I don't mind the different opinions and suggestions. The NT is my 8 year old daughter's and I want something stable enough so she won't get frustrated with it but I guess I'll flash something and hope for the best. Once again, thanks for the input.
The most stable ROM by far is celticwebsolutions cm 8&16 GB beta. I have flashed about every ROM available for nook tab. I have run this ROM for months now and even lasted ten days off the charger without a reboot or dead battery( ultra light use of course). Cm 9 and 10 are fun to play with' but are plagued with reboots due to 3.0 kernel issues' etc. Especially for an 8 year old' you don't want freezes and reboots requiring a hard reboot. I really love the cm10 ROMs, but even 1 or 2 freezes is too many for me for a heavy user such as myself. I keep trying them and always revert t cm 7 beta. You are not missing out on any apps sticking with cm7 over the newer builds. A slicker ui and advanced ecosystem are nice though. So nice, in fact I have moved onto a nexus 7 and now my 2.5 y/o son mainly uses my nook now to play angry birds and some others. He navigates around with ease' I would feel uncomfortable setting him up on cm10 as he would often have to come to me for a reset. For us adults' an slightly unstable ROM with extra bells and whistles is just fine. Half the fun for me is troubleshooting and trying new ones. I would go with the mentioned cm 7 and call it a day.

Firstly you need to remember to post any threads in the correct sections and a thread that starts with [Q] has no other place then Q&A.
The reason I've closed this thread is because best ROM threads aren't encouraged on the forum due to exactly what's been said already, you ask 10 people you get 10 different answers, it's too subjective and goes nowhere. The only way you'll know is by reading the development threads and also trying ROM's out for yourself. All best ROM threads get closed for these reasons and why you don't see active best ROM threads here.
Thanks

[Q] Looking 4 most stable ver of android for nook

I am looking for the most stable version of "pure" android for the nook tablet. I do not want bleeding edge where I have to update every day, I am looking for the most current version that I can install and not worry about again.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks
If that's what you're looking for, CM7 is probably your best bet.
You'll find the least amount of issues there. Newer versions of Android are still continuing to be developed and are more likely to have some bugs and upgrading would be necessary to add more features as they become available.
If you really want the most current then I'd have to mention that I think some of the CM10 builds are more than ready for day to day use. I recently flashed the pure AOSP CM10 ROm posted here and I was blown away since the first version with how stable it was. I recommend reading through the thread so you're aware of what issues may exist and how to avoid them... The only one I can think of at the moment isn't a problem with that ROM but with a popular UI mod which people install on it... The Tablet UI fix/mod. That said, CM7 is the most mature but I don't think it's all that much more solid and it's easy to update as fixes come out.
1 vote for ASOP CM10 rom.its so great.i flash it 1 week ago.and now i dont have any complain for it

Most stable ROM?

What is the most stable (non-stock) rom available for 8GB Nook Tablets? Seems like CM10 is pretty buggy so far?
**EDIT** Can a mod move this to the Q&A forum?

CM10 is not buggy at all any more. At least not the ones I have tried. I don't have enough to compare with to say which one is best, and I also think it's frowned upon to discuss that here. Read a few pages of each of the ROMS to get an idea of what issues there might be in them.

Interesting the reason I asked that is because after reading through many pages of 3 different CM 10 based ROMS there appeared to be a large number of unresolved bugs. I will have to try one out.
Well, I have been running Succulent's 1208 build from another place than here (but I think you can find it here as well) since it came out (dec 8) and haven't had a single issue (once I got it flashed properly)! I ran it from sd for a couple of weeks to make sure it ran good enough before flashing it internally.
I hear good things about other ROMs as well, so I don't think I just happened to stumble upon the only reasonably stable one!

Sounds good I will try that one out after making sure I have a good nand backup. Thanks for the info.
The most stable NT ROM is based off CM7. The ones I have tried are rock stable. They have had plenty of time to mature nicely.
To date I have tried all but one JB build from these forums. From my humble experience I will try to sum my experiences to date:
ROMs based on CM10 and ASOP 4.1 are stable, power efficient, with maybe one or two minor quirks - which are almost easy for my eye for perfection to ignore. I want to point out that these quirks could be unique to my NT and the 100 plus apps I play with. I say this because some of the earlier builds I tried seemed more solid on my NT than the later improved builds. But what do I know, It's all PFM!
Stepping out on a limb here I'll say from my two weeks or so experience with ASOP 4.2 and CM10.1 that these builds are stable - no boinks, no crashes. I did have to fool about with uninstalling and reinstalling some apps to get them to chill. There may be one or two things that aren't functioning 100%, like for instance, maybe the microphone - but I can live with little things like that. I find the advantages of the overall build greater than the loss of a menu item, lack of customization or microphone or being able to keep my tablet unplugged for two days. These things will be ironed out in time by the brilliant minds too numerous to mention here.
In conclusion I have never run in to a such a buggy build here at xda that made me throw anything at a wall nor regret trying a ROM. A scream or two maybe resulted, but that was my fault. Follow directions, work smart and be happy. :cyclops:

Yes, yes it does. And most of them are too damn lazy to actually read more than 1 or 2 pages of the ROM information. Or feel the search feature isn't necessary for them. Why do the work when I can have it spoon fed to me. The internet, the only place in the world, packed full of knowledge and yet people keep getting dumber/lazier. But damn if we don't love our kitty pictures and videos.
Sent from my CM 10 nook. Thanks devs.
"Search?" Isn't that Google's job? The first thing that came up didn't tell me step by step exactly what to do so I'm trying to get other people to do it for me...

The CM7 based ROMs are going to be the most stable, but most of the current CM10 ROMs are also quite stable. My Nook is currently running one of the CM10 ROMs posted

[Q] Suggested ROM --> stability is paramount

Hi there,
I have a i717. For the past several months, I had been running CM 10 stable build (10.1.3 I believe), but found it to be anything but stable...Lots of random reboots, screen no always very responsive on attempted wake...It got bad enough that I went back to my previous ROM, waaay back to FlapJaxx's Build 12. FJ's ROM is incredibly stable, always has been and I'm very tempted to just roll with this until my contract is up...but at the same time, this is Android version 4.0.4 so it makes me feel a bit old fashioned.
It seems much of the community here has moved onto other phones, so my options may be limited...but anyone got a shout out for a good STABLE ROM?
Besides the rock solid stability of FlapJaxx, I am also generally impressed with the battery life (on CM 10 it was pretty awful), and IMHO BLN is superior to Dynamic Notifications...
Now I am pretty sure that my reliance on BLN will limit my options, but I'm just curious what other options folks here might recommend.
Thanks in Advance.
If you want stable, stick with the stock 4.1.2 version. Or any stock version for that matter.
No one will be able to tell you what custom rom is stable but you. Not all devices will perform the same for 2 different people. What suits one person might not perform the same for another. Xda recommends you try all the custom roms and see what works best for you.
Thanks, clearly I've been out of the loop didn't even realize there was a stock JB update on the phone...I'll blame my kids
As near I can tell, if I want a rooted/de-bloated stock MD3 experience I'm looking at Padawan or Blackstar?
Since these use stock kernel, will BLN work or if I absolutely must have BLN working am I stuck with a 4.0.4 kernel?
Thanks again...

XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
