Hey guys,
I work for a ROM Team, LiquidSMOOTH, and one of our developers (hiemanshu) is looking to get a Touchpad to help bring it another AWESOME ROM! But he is a little short on cash. I found this listing for a TouchPad in India http://bangalore.craigslist.co.in/sys/3410712948.html, which is approx $200 USD. I don't think that is too hard to save up, so why don't we try and get this for him!
Any donation counts, nothing is too small!
So, if you're wanting to donate to this cause, post below with what you pledge. Be prepared to pay what you say you will. Once we reach $250 USD (to have some wiggle room in the price if it changes, I would like to reach around $400, as that is the normal market price in India for a Touchpad), I will post his PayPal link so you all can send him what you pledged! I will update this post with the pledges, and with the grand total at the end
Please be prepared to send him what you pledge, don't post and then leave.
Here is a link to our current Touchpad thread, we are currently not able to get RC8 running on the Touchpad, while it runs on all other devices we support. Your pledges, and in turn donations, will help hiemanshu get a Touchpad and bring RC8 and further to it!

Thanks guys!
If you have a FedEx or DHL account, please check on the shipping costs from the US to BANGALORE, India and post the price in the thread. Thanks!

BigShotRob: $10 USD

Pip513: $15 USD
pxldtz: $10 USD
adlerxxx: $10 USD

Shipping costs around that. I had a friend in the states that was selling one, and shipping alone is about $200 for it.. Sadly
$200 shipping, is that hand delivered by the Beatles on a magic carpet?

I actually have a Brand New Unused HP Touchpad just sitting here, if the pledge picks up that much money, Instead of buying it outside of canada just pledge $200 and it wont take more than $20 shipping from Canada to almost anywhere.

The "$20" shipping takes a month to reach and a has lot of chances of package getting lost. FedEx/DHL/UPS take 3 days on the other hand. Trying to get one local if I can.

that's with 150$ insurance
pretty sure there's tracking with it as well
i say if rohin_adalja is willing to donate/sell the touchpad + shipping, it would be more economical to do it this way
of course, if people are willing to donate enough to buy it locally, why not
I pledge $10.00 USD.
If I had a TP that I personally used daily I'd donate more, but just trying to help since my fiancee still has one, and she may enjoy some liquid smoothness
Hope I have the finance to donate but i can't. Once i have the money i will donate. Thx for your dev guy's effort anyway!
I'll donate my spare 16GB Touchpad. Shipping needs to be covered, though. I was going to sell it, but this is a better cause.
Here's my XDA Marketplace thread where I was selling it. Description and pictures are in that one.
(New XDA users may not be able to view the thread.)
EDIT: Approximate cost of shipping the tablet via USPS medium flat rate box + $250 insurance + Return receipt is around $60. If you guys can raise that much and send it to me, your dev will have himself a tablet.
Okay, make it $15 from me.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll donate mine, as long as shipping is covered. You guys are welcome to pick whichever shipping service you like. The only things I insist on are insurance and signature confirmation to confirm the delivery. This way it doesn't just get left on the doorstep or something like that.
First off thank you over much. Secondly trying to find someone with a FedEx account or something so we can get it shipped for real cheap about the same price as USPS but 3 days shipping instead of the 3-4 weeks USPS takes to get here. Just curious if anybody had any opinions on where the best place to buy this beast would be? So far I'm thinking Amazon Wireless. The Rezound is $200 there and the phone that I will be getting for the wife is free. Beyond that any possible price match scenarios? Thanks in advance for your advice!
If you want it now, then a corporate Verizon Store. If you can wait, then Amazon as its cheaper and you could save on tax.
Wal-mart! If they have it in stock. It's like 220 - 230...
radioshack.com & wirefly.com have it for $249.
wireless.amazon.com has it for $229 (upgrade), $199 (new contract)
I went to Best Buy and had them price match Amazon's price of $229 for my upgrade. Great deal IMO.
I got it with the Accessory Bundle from VZW Store when the opened Monday morning for $288 total on upgrade. But, I had a $50 discount and I am a Veteran(15% Discount)... lol
wirefly.com has it for $220 for new contract. Free FedEx and no sales tax I believe. And they have the double your data offer available too.
Thanks everyone for your input...I'm seriously at war with myself about getting either this or waiting for the Nexus, I just can't decide!

$100 Amazon gift card with Hot Spot plan!
Hey! I was just checking on the Amazon price and they added a new incentive!
If you add a Hot Spot to your service at activation you get a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I don't see any fine print stating how long you have to have the Hot Spot feature. For what I was looking at it costs $20 more per month so even if I keep it for 1 month that's an $80 "discount" on the phone. Brings it down from their current $200 to $120. And I don't think Amazon taxes phones and there's free 2 day shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000745951
And they too have the double data available on their site.
I think I'm about to check out and complete purchase!

Craigslist or eBay lol.
I wonder if it occurs to HTC that the lack of S-off and root could effect sales.
Verizon is certainly being rather pricky about not letting me upgrade early...I've gotta wait until December 27th.
I'm on three discontinued plans...unlimited data, the $39.95 Friends and Family phone service, and 500 texts for $5. I don't want to mess with that.

I did the Amazon 1 cent deal. It's real. No tax, rebate, shipping charges, nothing! They actually charged my card .01! It's due here tomorrow. And unless there's a rock in the box, I'm prolly gonna like that deal.
I also got in on the 1 cent deal from amazon wireless and waiting for mine as well, it runs til the 28th so if you want to save 200-300 bucks prob the best deal you'll get
Just remember, it's for new customers only. Will not work for upgrade.

I guess you have never sold anything on eBay. Some people post low buy it now price so they don't have to pay a lot of eBay fees. While they don't charge a fee on shipping cost.

Check your eBay invoices then as eBay changed their fee structure this year to include S&H fees in the final value fee calculation. So you might save something on your insertion fee, but they get you on the final sale price + shipping as part of the final value fee.

Selling on eBay use to be awesome. Now it just blows as they take a good chunk of what you make.
%[email protected]$ [email protected]#$ @#$ Found this today, AFTER picking up my 2nd pre-order (they f'd up and only had one of my phones in the first time).
But anyways, go here: myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/offers/offersandpromotions/info/0900a76f8009596b
You MUST buy the phone (upgrade, new service, whatever from that site) and you must be a rewardzone member (free). I tried to get the points added to mine, but they said it had to be ordered from there, does not work on in-store purchases.
Anyways, they will give you $100 in rewardzone certificates (I never used these, but I think it's just gift cards to use in BestBuy or something) but if you go there anyways, it's a good deal.
Offer begins: 5/30/2012 expires: 06/05/2012
Lots o' threads and posts on this here, at Android Central and elswhere. Plus there is a Sprint smartphone upgrade $50 price reduction on top of the two gift cards. Got my Evo for $49 since they let you use the gift cards as part of the phone purchase.
And those that got the "forever" coupon thing back in Feb. get another $50 so was free phone time!
WOW! Wish I'd known about all that stuff. I had a bunch of gift cards I'd won previously and used them with the $50 instnat rebate so paid a little less than $100 for my first one, and 2nd one I just go the $50 off so paid $150.
$250 for two EVO 4G LTE phones isn't bad though, haha. Might sell my 2nd one for $650 since everyone is offering that much for it, in which case I'd have been PAID $400 to upgrade to one. ;-p
If I knew they were doing that promo, I'd have just pre-ordered online. I guess I didn't look hard enough, but it just came out and I wanted to secure my pre-order position ASAP. I should've done it anyway for my 2nd line though since they messed up my pre-order and I got it late anyway.

just got off the phone with their mobile support. the rewardzone certificates are added to the account like 40 days after purchase so you'd have to put down the $199.99 for the purchase and use the certificates to buy visa giftcards or something. and if you're thinking you can get the $50 gift card too, its in-store only. so its one or the other

What $50 GC? -50$ Freedom ended in Feb, -50$ Pre-order probablay ended last night , and the -50$ LTE ended on the 1st.. All I think we have now is a Target or Sam's Club PM @ $149 and or this -100$ RZ credit.

Yeah going through the order on their rewards site, it gives you the $100 rewards at checkout but will not apply them to that order so you're still paying $199 upfront.

$50 gift card with 2-year activation at Best Buy by 7/7/12.

Can either the $50 gift card OR the $100 reward zone points be sold?
Best Buy has nothing besides the phone I want to buy but if I could sell those things on ebay or something for at least 90% of the actual cost it would be worth it I think.

Yes but if you order through the rewardszone website which is separate, they are not giving you the $50 giftcard from bestbuy.com.
At this point what I'm thinking is PM to $149 and have them apply the -50$ GC to the purchase. The -50$ activation promotion on BB.com is the same as thei n-store -50$ off EVO LTE. So they will apply it to the purchase, it's just a matter of IF you can get them to agree to PM then remind them of the -50$.

Correct, the only way around this would be to do an in-store pickup OR register for the promotion online.
I think I might bite on this. Right now I pay $150 at Amazon. At best buy it would be phone + tax - rz credit - gc right?
So 200 + 62 - 100 - 50 = 112?

No I cannot guarantee you'll get the -50$ online activation credit in combination to the -100$ RZ credit. I was told that they are different sites and have different policy. If you could do an in-store pickup then MAYBE but since that is not an option it is one or the other.
It'll be Upgrade @ 200 - 50 for Target PM - 50$ for LTE/Activation promo = 100 + tax at BEST!
No, you can't pick it up, only ship to your house But its still cheaper than Amazon $131 with 2day shipping ($5) and tax with the rz certificate factored in.
Amazon won't even tell me when they are shipping! Plus they were $150. So I saved about 20$ and hopefully will get it much quicker! THANKS EVERYONE!
Oh BTW! Order it tonight and use the code SAVE15 to get $30 off
Another happy WireFly Cancellation
Went into BB Mobile store, picked up my handset happily canceled WF order. I can confirm (YMMV) BB will PM Target.com/Sam's Club then apply -50$ Sprint instant activation promo. While you will pay tax you have a device in your hand AND it will be $100. You can do even better then that with a few more things we mentioned here (which I did) but do what you have to $100 is better then $200.
Just wondering what everyone's preference is.
I jumped on the $49 refurbish Galaxy S3 deal to upgrade my wife's iPhone 4.
I may look into upgrading to Note 2 as soon as a refurbish is available (3-6 months?).
Android devices get AWFUL resale value (my Note 1 is worth less than my wife's iPhone 4) from online sites like Amazon/Gazelle, so only way to go is Craigslist or Ebay. I am in New York City so just wondering what is everyone's experience? Her phone is in great condition but power port and home button are not as reliable as it once was (both typical issues for iPhone's).
In my experiences you're going to get the top dollar amount from E-Bay selling your device unlocked. But then you have to deal with shipping, feedback, eBay's %, etc.
I strictly use Craigslist. I'm usually flexible on the price. Plus, start a little high and leave room to barter. Everyone likes to barter. It makes them feel like they got a better deal. You also don't have to wait while your auction ends. You get cash as soon as you sell.
Now, this all depends on the device you're selling. A Note1: Craigslist. Much more common device and not as high of a price tag. A Note2: EBay. Catch the big market of people willing to drop $600-800 for a device. You'll rarely find that on CList.

Both are good place to buy phone from provided the seller can put it in writing that the device will not be reported stolen, insurance claim or lost.
The device may work for several months or so, then suddenly it won't. The seller has then reported it either stolen lost or claimed insurance on it, the IMEI or ESN is then block by the carrier. Buyer beware.
I prefer eBay simply because you can get a good idea of who you are buying from or selling to by their feedback scores. You can require buyers have certain scores or higher as well as require immediate payment through PayPal. You can charge them shipping. One con is you get hit with a seller fee of around 9% if it sells. But craigslist people are more likely to try to haggle your selling price.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I liked ebay till they got greedy between their fees and paypal fees, your losing at least 25% of your profit. You have to raise your price to offset them and nobody will buy.
The last 2 devices I sold weren't touched on ebay. Must have relisted for free 6 times. I put them on craigslist and they sold in 3 weeks. I got $275 for a 2 year old iphone 3gs-32gb/wht (mint) and $275 for my 6 month infuse (mint). I would not have gotten nearly this much profit on ebay. And Craigslist is free.
Beware of people wanting to pay via paypal and have you ship when selling on craigslist. Usually a scam.
Deal face to face and cash only. Sell local.

I dont think that would help. What they do (spammers) is send you an email from one address and the reply is to another. And then the spamming begins. "I like to arrange for payment and shipment and I am going to pay you x dollars more than your asking price blah blah blah. Or its a simple as "is this item still available for sale" seems innocent but nope. they also put the signature as if they are emailing from a cell phone. Smart F ers.....
Use swappa.com for selling android devices, $10 flat flee and PayPal free.

One thing I've noticed on eBay when selling my smart phones is that buyers will refuse to pay. One time the guy was bidding on multiple phones and thought he paid to much for mine. Another I never received any communication from the buyer.
I was able to realist but what a hassle and time consumer. Then of course you have the eBay and PayPal fees.

I listed my og note on Craigslist, eBay and Amazon. Ebay is not the place to sell of you want to get the most money for your sale and there are many people that buy and no pay so it becomes a hassle and time wasting. Amazon is the safest one if you want to sell something quick (given a competitive price) I had a guy purchase it for 420 but after shipping and fees I was going to make 375$. I had my listing on Craigslist until the last day when I had to ship it and I received a text from a guy interested on it. We met up 400$ after (made sure real bills) I went home and canceled the Amazon order. Lollll Craigslist is all about patience and knowing when to lower your price as time passes. Hence I started to sell my note for 470 plus accessories lolll

Hence I started to sell my note for 470 plus accessories lolll

I've bought and sold ten devices on CL in the past couple years. Its a great place to get good deals.
I never use eBay anymore really. Not like I used to.
Three times on eBay I have had an auction go through the roof on price within the first couple of hours only to find at the end of the auction that the "buyer" was a fake. I have no proof, but I think other sellers use throwaway email addresses to artificially boost the price on competing auctions. Case in point: I listed my wife's old Galaxy Skyrocket when I bought her the refurb Note for $49. Within 2 hours of the listing start (at $80), the auction hit $719. Seven days later at the end of the auction, no payment. After filing the complaint, no word from eBay. And they are STILL going to charge me the listing fee even though the buyer was bogus.
Then on the Skyrocket I tried Craig's List. Four Western Union and PayPal offers for twice as much as I was asking for within the first hour if I would "ship immediately". One even sent a bogus "Western Union" payment email without knowing my name, email address or virtually anything else. I updated the add to say "local pickup only" and next came the "please drive the phone to my location as I don't own a car" messages. The ad lived for a day on Craig's List before I pulled it.
Years ago, I sold a couple of things on Amazon's auction site. I am not sure how to do that today, and even if I did (assuming they still do that), I am not sure I would get much because I am not convinced there is the same traffic there.
I went to Gazelle. They sent me a box and when they got it, a $125 e-gift card from Amazon. I probably could have had more selling it myself, but who has the time to deal with the BS? I guess I was lucky in that Gazelle saw value in what I had. I have a Asus Transformer TF700T that I am about to sell, and they aren't interested in that. And I hate the thought of having to use either Craig's List or eBay, but I am not sure there is another way.
I sold one of my old CB radio mics on eBay, as is, no returns, because it was old, and I can't control how the buyer hooks it up. The buyer complained to eBay it didn't work, they MADE me return his money, then a couple weeks later I got a different mic back. You have to be extremely careful how you word your ad, I try not to use them anymore.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the XDA Marketplace. I've bought and sold many devices on both Ebay and CL but I have gotten the best results lately right here. No fees, cool community, and the ability to negotiate trades is great! I run an electronics store and I'm going to start selling some of our clearance merchandise on the market if it doesn't break any rules.

Put my note 1 up for sale on CL for $375 including lots of extras, got a email reply with a $450 offer to ship it to Florida and he would pay via paypal. Seems odd he would offer $75 over asking price to have it shipped. Wondering if there's anyway I can get scsmmed vis PayPal or maybe he could do something to the phone after a factory reset. I never had issues in the past selling on CL, but this just seems to strange.

Definite scam. Happens every time I list on craigslist.

Probably a fake PayPal email. It'll say money sent but being held until item received. If you have to come on a forum to ask this stuff, that should tell you a few things...

The rule of thumb is that if it seems too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.

I got the same email when I listed it today. Definitely a scam

Every time I list something I get an email from someone wanting me to ship. Always deal locally in person in a busy restaurant. I always have them come in and sit down with me. If it's a good deal then they'll have no problem doing this. Gives you/them the chance to use the device in good light. I've bought and sold quite a few android devices and iPhones on Craigslist.

I hide my email and put "text/call:" and my Google Voice number. Just so no spam and you have to be a real person.

My rule of thumb is never use paypal when on craigslist.
I got this same scam, difference for me is that they wanted me to send the phone to the Republic of South Africa!!! The shipping cost they were willing to front me was no where near enough lol. They must have been scammers in training. I think PayPal is fine for Craigslist so long as you don't ship anything until the funds are moved from Paypal to your checking account.
BTW, do any of you expect an updated variant to the GNote 2 in the next 6mos? Maybe new colors or an "HD/Max" version?
Never ever EVER do any Craigslist deals with anyone who even so much as MENTIONS paypal. It is definitely a scam. CL is supposed to be for local people to meet in person to exchange goods & services, it's not meant to be another ebay.
I disagree. I was a buyer looking for an Alpinestar motorcycle jacket that had been discontinued. I searched all online shops including eBay and could never find a new/used one... that is until I ran across a seller on CL. Needless to say they were not local. The only method of payment I was willing to use was PayPal.
As the seller (of anything, not just phones) you don't have anything to lose if you wait for funds to appear in your PayPal account. What this scam requires is that you rely solely on an email for verification, which is ridiculous. It's not really a PayPal scam because that would suggest that there is some loop hole within the PayPal payment system. It's just another dressed up email scam.
As a seller, I was kinda relieved someone wanted to deal over PayPal. I don't really like having to give people my phone number and meet them. I know people that will rob you in broad a$$ daylight. You can scream "Hey, that guy just took my phone!" but who is really gonna help you? Most likely people are just gonna watch and feel sorry for you and keep it moving.
