[Q] Unlocking US Cellular S3 for use on T-Mobile - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, first my apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but I looked around for awhile and couldn't find a specific US Cellular sub forum. I've done quite a bit of searching and have seen conflicting reports that this S3 was not compatible with the GSM network on T-Mobile and I've also seen that this phone was compatible on both CDMA and GSM once unlocked. Does anyone know if the US Cellular S3 can be used with T-Mobile somehow?

[Q] "unlocking" base bands on a LG optimus 3D phone or physically impossible?
Hi guys.
I've search for this all night and cannot find a proper answer:
I have a rogers LG-P925G (LG Optimus 3D) that I have unlocked but that doesn't support the 1700/2100 AWS base bands. Rogers won't support those bands but I am wondering if this is a criple at the baseband firmware level, or of the actual radio chips won't support it.
I've seen UI screenshots of optimus 3D in other forums that had the frequencies listed on the box and showed support for UMTS networks, but it was on a unbranded optimus 3D.
I can't find an app that will list the radio chipsets nor a straight answer on this. Anyone KNOWLEDGABLE can share some answers on this?
If the route is to use another firmware to gain access to the frequencies, I'm more than ready to hack it.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Anyone? Just bought a sim locked rogers phone, need to use on the fido network. Cannot seem to unlock at all, tried flashing roms etc.
I also bought a sim locked rogers phone and am now using it on Fido. Many stores and websites offer unlocking services. stores ask for about $20 whereas websites do it for approx. $7. google some sites.
boboche, try flashing v21a or v21b on your phone. I read that for some people it actually activates the disabled 1700 band (not present in thrill (P925). It didnt work for me so I am still searching on how to enable the 1700 band but I think its worth a shot plus your phone get updated to 2.3.5(gingerbread). you can flash your phone using Adixtra's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236

[Q] tmobile in att area, which sgs3 to get?

I've been wanting an upgrade from my G2x for a while and what I want, which is what everyone else wants, is the Samsung Galaxy S3. I don't know which model to get, being that there are so many models of the S3 depending on the service provider. Here's the situation: I'm on a t-mobile value plan, living in West Virginia (I'm a student) with the only service here is roaming on AT&T, thus I only get edge. Can I use a different model, like an unlocked AT&T, and then be able to use more than 2G? Then be able to get full 4G when I do go to t-mobile service area? (From the chart by forum moderator, it shows AT&T shares 1900 mHz, 2100mHz, HSPA+, so it should technically work with tmobile, correct line of thought?)
*I already know that unlocked international version won't be able to get on anything more than 2G in US, it having different radios.
Also, read somewhere that I could buy the AT&T model and be able to use international LTE networks. Is that true? Could someone here enlighten me about the issues with the radios/frequencies (for US) for S3?
Much appreciated. Tried to find this question answered somewhere, and couldn't so posting now.

[Q] Switching carriers

Anyone else know kinda a noob here. just wondering if the Sprint version of the Galaxy Note 3 is compatible with AT&T. if it is what do i need to do. whether it needs to be unlock or not. ???help???
Questions and help issues go in Q&A and Help section

The answer to the OP question is NO. ATT is GSM carrier, Sprint is CDMA. There is no current "unlock" to allow the international GSM portion to work on USA networks.
Sorry.

Moto Z Carrier Possibilities?

Hey all,
I noticed that the moto z was a Verizon exclusive unless you bought the gsm unlocked version from Motorola. As for the Verizon version, if it's unlocked but still a Verizon phone would it work with TPO (the people's operator)? I believe TPO is an umbrella of T-Mobile. I read from multiple places that it depends on the phone to see whether or not a Verizon unlocked will work on another carrier. Some eBay listings I've seen have said Verizon models will work with others while others said it wouldn't. I haven't been to find any moto z specific info regarding this on the internet. If someone could give me some insight that would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The problem which you face there is with the LTE bands. Now a days GSM and 3G bands are standard and most phones support all the 3G and 2G bands for universal use. But the same is not the case for LTE bands. The Verizon unit may not have the LTE bands needed for T-Mobile and other US GSM carriers so you will be better off buying the unlocked version.

Carrier Unlocking the U.S. S9/S9+

My question remains, when carrier unlocking an s9 or s9+, is there any way to make it available on different network types like say if the phone started out using a carrier that uses CDMA, is their any way to flash it to utilize t-mobile's frequency bands?
I unlocked two galaxy s9+'s that were on xfinity, which uses verizon towers. The two phones did unlock, but only for carriers utilizing CDMA. I was hoping they would be able to be used on t-mobile after unlocking, but they can't. Only messaging and data works using a t-mobile SIM card. Verizon works fine. SO my question still remains, is there a way to make it work?
I used itekimei .com to have the phones unlocked, as I found they were suggested here on XDA. And they weren't really able to answer my question either. They said it should work with t-mobile, but the conversation ended with "t-mobile is having problems with unlocked phones." This is super frustrating trying to get an answer.
Edit: I found this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/help/sim-unlocking-sprint-samsung-galaxy-s9-t3783571 which debates whether it will work or not. Also this one specifically about Xfinity https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/help/xfinity-mobile-unlock-service-t3796349. But mine didn't work. I don't think U.S. S9's are cross compatible from CDMA to GSM. I have been searching and searching and can't find a way.
Yes, the US unit hardware is cross compatible. Heck, Verizon itself isn't all CDMA. They are phasing out CDMA soon and most of their network is LTE.
I have a US unlocked S9+ and can use any carrier in the US. You could too, all you need to do is flash the US Unlocked firmware to the device using Odin.
Your problem may be the Xfinity firmware restricting certain bands is all. Or possibly the device isn't really unlocked.
