[Q] Flashing in second ROM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what happens if I flash stock Sammy ROM via Mobile Odin in second ROM (Siyah) ? thanks

Why don't you flash it via recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

It is not flashable zip, it's the JB leak from SamMobile.

When you flash something being on 2nd rom (Siyah) from mobile odin - it will flash it to the 1st rom (not the 2nd). There is no possibility to flash TAR rom package directly to 2nd rom in Siyah.

so the question is - is there any flashable zip of the leak ?

I did flash a CF-ROOT manually, XX_OXA_KG1, using ODIN.
The file from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I did flash the last ROM using ODIN (from V1.5 to V2.0). But for V2.1, i flashed it using CWM, goes the same with V2.2.

You've done everything correctly, better if you ask this in litening rom thread...or maybe wait for 2.3, if it comes as a full rom, it would be great

Don't want to wipe the data (like i have read in other forums if can't flash a new ROM or updated the ROM with CWM)
please help.
Could someone help me? I would appreciate it. Thanks

No, I want to be able to flash the ROM as you would a custom ROM from CWM
I am currently trying the dual boot function in Siyah and wanted to use the stock ROM as a primary ROM. I have cloned my primary ROM (Dragon ICS 2.4) to secondary and wanted to have the stock Orange ROM as primary.

Anyway to flash kernel without pc?

is there any way to flash kernels without connecting our phones to pc?
a friend of mine had an HTC incredible s that could flash kernels on it by the phone only. is the same thing possible on SE mdpi's?
I think no.
Unfortunately, certainly not.
Hi
If you have a zip format flashable package containing a kernel, way shouldn't you?
When you flash a ROM, you flash also its kernel.

ROM isn't same as kernel. Kernel is medium between hardware and software. Same as you can't change ROM while phone's turned on.

Wrong, when you flash a rom you don't even touch the kernel, I guess you were talking about flashing a ftf file via flashtool.

for the md5 file you need Odin or Mobile Odin, to flash from recovery you will need a flashable ROM as zip (there is a thread in the general section with stock roms as flashable zips).

un-root it after flashing, or download via sammobile.com, flash as primary rom and then swap it to secondary.

reflash CM10.1
If you're not using CM10.1, extract the boot.img (kernel) from cm10.1 and put it in a flashable zip / tar for CWM / Mobile odin
Or download one of the CM10 kernel variants such asn yank or Temasek

Actully I cant reflash cm10.1 i have installed many apps and did many customization. Are there any download link to the kernel? I tried converting boot.img to tar but odin stucks in flashing the kernel.
yes, you can reflash it. just don't wipe data

Just drag the boot.img into an existing flashable .tar or .zip for a kernel and replace the existing file. Usually, you should take nandroids before flashing things.
