[Q] Huawei M835 update to 2.3 on cleartalk carrier - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a way to get my Huawei M835 updated to CM7 or something more up to date than Froyo, but I need to be able to keep my data connection and MMS working on Cleartalk's network. What would be the best way to get CM7 or something like it fixed where it'll install with my current carrier's settings, such as the APN, baseband, etc? I'm not very experienced yet with ROM modding, so I'm unsure where to start, especially with this finicky phone which I've already had replaced twice.
The problem before is that nobody at cleartalk knows the APN settings, so after I tried out a few custom roms, 3G and MMS didn't work at all, and my baseband version had been changed by one of the roms I had tried. Neither Cleartalk nor Huawei have the stock ROM to flash the phone back to a stock Cleartalk phone, so I was screwed. This is the problem with obscure carriers.
Is there any way to extract that data, all the carrier settings, baseband, and other necessary data and slip that into a Gingerbread rom like CyanogenMod?
I know this phone sucks, but one of the Gingerbread custom roms that I played with before worked pretty well, but it messed up all my carrier settings, I didn't have voice or data connection, and was saying to insert UIM, mine's a CDMA phone.
tl;dr I really want Gingerbread but don't want to screw up another phone, need MMS and 3G working. What do?

hey guys
i have a hauwei m835 and i will like you to ask to get an official rom ics or ginger bread and ill like if you can ak to get roms too

Data *only* with stock rom?!

Hi,
I'm with Telus, and been running custom roms for a while now, without any problems... until now.
To make a long story short, I was stupid enough to let the Sprint customization run on the latest stock rom; from then on, I couldn't get any data connection from any custom rom I tried. All in all, a pretty common problem.
So, in order to fix the Sprint customization, I re-flashed the latest stock Telus rom, and that went great. Re-locked the phone, and re-flashed a custom rom (dcd 3.2.x, everytime with the Telus carrier cab of course) believing that all would be working good now. But, I still couldn't get a data connection.
I flashed back the stock rom, and tested there if I could get the connection; lo & behold, the data connection actually works with the stock rom! I've done that pattern a couple times now, and everytime I flash a custom rom, I can't get data to work, even tough it seems to work all right when using the stock rom.
I never seen references of that problem when data only works with the stock rom; any idea what I can do to repair the data connection for custom roms? Thanks a lot.
install the Telus carrier cab. thats the only reason why u dont get data. I'm with Telus as well and run the latest from DCD w/no problems. Make sure u have the latest or min. req. radio.
This has been checked and done over and over. I always install the telus cab. I tried installing it multiple times. I tried installing an older one. I tried an older radio. I tried a hard reset.
Sorry, but I really need something not as obvious as installing the carrier tab to fix the problem.

There have been several threads and posts regarding your specific issue. Please search a little more next time, because you would have found the answer.
You will not get data working again until you get a DMU reset from your carrier. The Sprint customizations overwrote your DMU keys and they need to be reset. Flashing the stock rom refurbishes your PRI and gets the rest working fine, but for data this is the ONLY way, next to swapping your phone out for a new one.
But why does my data works with the stock rom if my DMU is wiped?! That's what I don't understand. And like I said, it's consistent; I'm on the stock rom, data works. I flash a custom rom (obviously unlocking and flashing a new radio too), install the carrier cab, data doe not work. I flash back the stock rom, data works. How come?
edit: I re-read a good bunch of the threads speaking about letting the customization for another carrier run, and not once did I see the same problem that I have; that is, that data is working with the stock rom, but not with a custom one. Would it be particular to Telus? And don't tell me I'm not installing the carrier cab when I go custom.

I had the same problem as you man, except with verizon wireless. If you've followed all the steps (i.e flashed to stock, and then flashed the new radio without letting customizations run) then there's only one thing left to do which fixed my problem. Call up Telus and have someone remove your Data feature, and to put on Pay per KB/MB. It should THEN work, because the DMU is now reset. So after it's removed, give it a whirl to google.com or whatever. Hang up, and call back. Ask them to add the data plan again. Data should now work for you
Let me know if the problem persists!
I'll call Telus in the next few days and try to make my way to a DMU reset. I'll post the results once it's done.
FIXED, and WITHOUT getting my DMU reset. I simply installed that rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364157
with radio 3.27, and data worked. This was the first time since the Sprint customization that I could get data working on a non-stock rom. I then proceeded to install a newer radio and the latest dcd. Works like a charm
Told you guys a DMU reset didn't make sense since data was working with the stock rom!

Sprint TP flashed to metro, phone stopped working when flashed to stock rom

Hi,
I got my sprint touch pro flashed to metro pcs, then I flashed it to mighty rom 6, and it was working all good for a long while. After I saw all these new roms coming out, with newer manila I decided to flash a new rom, and I read that it is better if I flash the stock rom before flashing to a custom rom, and so I did. After I flashed to the stock shipped sprint rom the phone stopped working, and after I flashed the custom rom, nfsfans B14 rom, the phone still doesn't work (I can't call or receive calls). I have installed the carrier cab for metro pcs, but it doesn't work, and anyways, as far as I know it only takes care of the internet, right?
Did I break the phone, or can I do something in service mode? Do I need to get it flashed again?
Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
In case somebody would fall into the same situation, I had to get Metro PCS' PRL file which I had to update in ##778# settings, and now it all works fine

[Q] flashed and rooted metro eris 2.1

hey wats up.. i have a metro flashed eris running 2.1 and its rooted everything works good.. but i want to update to the 2.2 thats out for the eris.
if i do the update will it mess up the Metro Flash..
I just did the same thing. MOST Roms will not adjust any Metro Flash settings. Talk/Text should work after a fresh Rom.
However, be aware of any OTA Sense Roms and FlashBack Roms. They WILL revert your phone back to Verizon settings. I made this mistake twice.
--EDIT--
I would also recommend downloading APN Backup/Restore from the market, and backing up your current APN settings before flashing a new 2.2 ROM just in case your settings get wiped.
thanks i did the update and its great only thing now is that my mms dont work internet works great..

[Q] Lost 4G after flashing Team Carbon's Nightly March 17 ROM build, now on stock

So, I've flashed about 3 ROM's. Jelly bean's ROM, PAC-Man ROM and Team Carbon's ROM. Recently I just flashed Team Carbon's Nightly March 17 ROM build. After that, my 4G was completely gone and my single was acting weird. Wasn't showing Verizon Wireless in the toggles in the notification panel and wasn't getting a data connection at all, also wasn't getting any single bars for regular cellular connection (phone calls and text). But was able to place calls and such. I noticed this when I was about to turn on tether.
I've done my research, tried all possible solutions to the best of my knowledge and still, nothing. Has anyone had this issue before? I've seen one other post by someone who has the same phone and their thread didn't come to any resolution. There must be a fix. Can ROM's edit the sim card data? How can I force to activate when the phone won't let me? *228 won't let me.
I've already tried restoring to stock, factory reset from the stock settings and from TWRP (2.4.4.0). I have plenty of TWRP backups and tried them, but nothing seems to work. I'm betting the data on the sim was changed somehow and I know I did not do this intentionally. How would I?
I really do not want to call Verizon and have to get a new sim card, if they'll even give me a new one. Of course, I won't tell them I've been flashing ROM's and have unlocked my phone. But still.
[Edit] Corrently returning to stock via odin and am going to run a hard reset code. - Didn't Work. *2767*3855# doesn't work on Verizon Apparently.

[Q] Stock KK (Korean ROM) + GoPhone SIM = No MMS?

I've had my Optimus G for about a year and a half now, and have been using it with a cut-down GoPhone SIM (for those unaware, GoPhone is a prepaid AT&T cell service). I do not have a data plan and simply use WiFi for my data needs. I do use cell data for MMS purposes, and use the APN setup from this thread to make sure my phone doesn't make any non-MMS data calls.
I've never had any issues in doing this with any ROM (stock JB or custom ROMs such as Carbon or PA).
However, I've been giving the new Korean-rip stock KK roms a go and I can't get either one to work correctly with MMS. Paulicat's ROM constantly throws errors saying it can't connect to cell data, so I gave gourab4u's ROM a try. It doesn't throw any error messages at all (and seems to run a lot better/smoother on my phone), but if I try to send an MMS text it never goes through.
Worried that my mucking about with custom ROMs on my phone may have done some weirdness, I LGNPST'd my phone back to stock. The stock JB ROM worked fine with MMS, so I gave both of these new stock KK roms a try again, and the same issues resulted. Just to be absolutely sure it wasn't a radio issue, I flashed this AT&T JB Radio E97020J ZIP. Still no MMS.
Any and all help would be appreciated...the Korean stock KK ROM runs beautifully on my phone otherwise, and I'd hate to have to go back to an AOSP ROM just for MMS.
