Help with motorola photon white screen - Motorola Photon 4G

Hello everybody I need help figuring out what is wrong with my phone...
I have a motorola photon, I bought it online and almost did not test it before sending it abroad to a friend. To both our surprise when she got the phone the screen was completelly white, the most picture itll get is a series of ramdom dots silver, white and red I think, but overall at an arms lenght it looks silver. If I press the power key and the volume - key when turning on it showed the letters on top, but only half the way and nothing else.
A friend told me that if the screen was showing something, and was not completelly black, then it was a software issue and not a hardware one. He told me that I should flash a sbf file using RSDlite but I tought it will be a good idea to ask someone else about an opinion, about what to do, or if its just a bad screen that needs replacement.
If you could help me or point me in the right direction, I will greatly appreciate it.

Come on guys, 97 views, not a single response? help me please...

I would recommend a sbf first. I had an issue while I was fooling around with various libs which resulted in a white screen during boot. Restored nandroid and back to normal.

can you post me to some kind of step by step o how to do the sbf? I have tried and I do not seem to be successful doing it, I keep getting this error...I assume restoring nandroid and sbf is the same thing? Also I did not mess with this phone at all! it has the factory rom not even rooted, nothing...thanks for answering...

"point" no post...

HTC Hero Bottom Of Screen Not Responding

my girlfriends heros touch screen has stoped responding for instance if i press menu i can press scenes but while im in scenes and select a new one i cant press done i have to use the scroll ball... anyone had anything like this??
any help greatly appreciated
thanks
It happened to mine, the only thing you can do is send it back. It sucks but the screen is faulty.
Send her round with it........... I'll see if I can help
Seriously though, buggered screen I'm afraid..
Had the same problem. Sent it in for a repair and got it back in 10 days.
I've got the same problem!!! I used to say that it was the best phone I've ever used but my mind is changed! :S
Same problem here. I can type with the top and middle of the screen, but the bottom is less responsive/sometimes non-responsive, and backspace doesn't work. Dave Hagenaars: Did you have to pay for the repair?
Aslong as it's under warranty HTC will repair it for nothing. It seems it's a fairly common fault. It come's back with a sticker asking you not to leave the phone in your pocket whilst sat down. Bless them.

same problem here, i need put it back everything to stock before going to t-mobile shop. did u go to t-mobile shop or u just called them? thanks in advance
My touchscreen works fine when holding it upright, but when the phone is laying down it gets really unresponsive. Anyone else having this issue?
Since it works sometimes, I'm guessing it must be software issue...
Hey,
Sometimes my HTC Hero acts weird.
Sense starts to jump between 2 screens (as if I'm constantly giving it input) when I'm doing nothing.
Also sometimes a press anywhere on the screen makes the phone think I'm pressing something at the bottom.
And last but not least, sometimes when I try to type something I lose the function of both the bottom left and right part of the screen, meaning I can't use backspace, the L, P, A and other various keys that reside there.
Does anyone also have these problems?
Is this hardware related or can I hope that this problem is solved with the 2.0/2.1 update?
Mine does the same
It happens to me as well, and i bought it abroad so no repair for me
Also - mine does the CRAZIEST thing - i can move the screen without touching it!! This is crazy - i just hover the finger above it and i can move the desktop left to right ("feature" only available when teh screen starts to jerk around)
I have no idea what to do - it drives me crazy - all my presses are wrong, and some dont work at all!!
I have figured a "way" to make it normal for a while, i just press the end key to close the screen and then turn it on again and it kinda, kinda, works again.
anybody there knows whats is the fault? if its software or hardware?, anyway i sent mine for repair and still waiting.
It's a hardware issue, no doubt. I have experienced all the issues described in the last 3-4 posts. Will have to send it in for repair after christmas - but I'll probably have to get back to the original firmware first.

well i took off the screen protector, and still pretty the same issue. anyway but now atleast it's under repair. so waiting for the phone i hope to get it before xmas.
I have a dead spot around the O and L key when typing messages in the landscape position.
Should I back-up my phone and remove all private data when getting it repaired?
had a sticker - same thing
i removed mine as well - and same thing.
talked to HTC - but they dont have a repair place in Israel - so i will have to send it abroad to the UK maybe for repair.
I still dont understand - if this is a hardware issue - how does it fix it for a short while when i press the "end" key, and re-open the phone.
if the hardware was defective it should always happen and wont be "fixed" for a short while.
Same problem, dont believe it is hardware
Got the same problem when i update to another rom LOX or Hikari.
Wiping and going back to Modaco 3.0 and everything is perfect again. Have the feeling that it has also something to do with the radio images
Maybe also something to do in which order the roms and radio's are updated. Still testing but got the same problem. Reverting back to my modaco 3.0 nandroid and everything works again.
For me this is the stable version where the bottom line works:
Firmware: 1.5
Radio: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel:2.6.27-mck-teknologist-1.9
Build:Modaco Custom Rom 3.0 Core, SSH
Softwareversion:1.0.0A6288

I have a similiar problem on my Hero. Did you find a solution to it?
What's weird is that it isn't constant. It comes and goes.
But when flashing the cya mod with 2.1 my phone was stuck on the enter sim card code screen.. Could not press OK to continue.

[Q] Help! I think my HTC one is bricked?

Hi all,
Got a Rogers HTC one off of craigslist a few months ago which was already flashed to stock 4.3... worked great. Just yesterday I got a prompt on my phone asking me if I wanted to update to 4.4. "Sure, it cant be too hard?" I thought. Maybe its that I'm novice, but it didn't end up looking so simple. Soon the device asked me if I wanted to continue, saying this is not reversible so I said yes, then another message, I said yes again.. the device then turned off, then back on and there was a black screen with white letters and a loading bar.. when it finished i think it asked me another question about backing up the ruu or something like that and I said no... the phone turned off and tried to reboot, first the white with HTC quietly brilliant, then the google logo for half a second and then right to a light plue pixelated screen with little lines in it.. every time I hold the power button to turn off it turns back on and same thing. Is this whats called a boot loop? Did I do something wrong? At one point I tried turning off and then holding power and volume buttons to get into bootloader and it worked.. I didn't really know what to do so I just told it to reboot and it did but with same blue screen. I've been reading a lot of threads on here but I didn't see anything quite like this. Sorry for the long post. I'd really appreciate it if someone would help me out here.
Thank you.

Phone went crazy today and now I'm stuck...

Hi all, thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me. I have looked for similar posts but could not find any (maybe I just don't know what my issue is called). I bought an HTC EVO 4g LTE from a friend that had put meanbean on it (I assume it was the latest). I went through all sorts of steps loading twrp and getting s-off and whatever else I needed to do to load cyanogenmod 10.2. I was able to do this fine but the gapps I loaded would not show. I tried it together and separately and nothing would work. So I loaded (I believe) 3.16.651.3_stock_rooted_odex_CPTB.zip so that I could use my phone again with the gapps while I was waiting for some assistance on the cyanogenmod forums, which never came unfortunately. Everything was fine for about the past 10 days.
Today I used my phone all day and had no problems (extra info: I installed one app to access my bank info which went fine), but hours later and all of a sudden my screen basically got stuck. It looks like millions of randomly chosen colors for each pixel. The screen will turn on and off if I hit the top button (or let the display "timeout"), and I can hear the tones when I press the up and down volume buttons. This is telling me it's not bricked, but it is completely useless to me as is. When I reboot the phone, I don't see anything on the screen until the colors come up (which is after the vibration during the bootup sprint screen as far as I know). I was able to get fastboot to see it once but haven't been able to get back into the bootloader (there's nothing on the screen so I don't know what I'm doing).
Basically, nothing on my screen while it is booting up until it gets to the point where my laptop detects the USB connection, and the crazy colors comes on. BTW, as random as it seems, it's the same colors in the same exact position each time and it never changes. I haven't tried flashing any roms with fastboot because it seems my issues is bigger than a rom... I can't even see anything when I had it in the bootloader... This is my only phone and I use it every day. I'm really quite desperate and could use any and all help you're willing to provide. I've attached a zip with a picture of my screen so you all can see what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance...
just an update, got my laptop to see my device with fastboot so I'm gonna leave it hooked up. Could really use some advice on how to proceed because I'm at a loss. Thanks...
From what I've seen in the past, it looks like the digitizer in the phone is bad. If you're good with your hands you can replace it yourself.

So can you say with any certainty that my issue is not due to the programming on the phone?

I just thought I would see a similar screen in the bootloader if it were a physical hardware issue.
I'm basing my information off of previous posts with the same type of picture, and the replies that followed. All of those posts suggested that the digitizer was bad and that the issue was not software-related.

Okay great thanks for the reply... the touchscreen portion of the phone still works (I was able to answer a phone call today even though I couldn't see where I was touching). I saw some videos online so I'll watch carefully and order a new screen/digitizer or whatever. Thanks again

Is this a boot loop?

Hi everyone. Thank you for reading.
I am posting for help with a friend's phone. I, personally, have an S3 on Sprint and haven't had much experience with T-Mobile phones. He has rooted his S5 (T-Mobile, obviously) using galaxys5root.com (I'm now not fond of that site due to his bad experiences that consistently happen) and has not put a new ROM on yet. It has been successfully rooted for several weeks, but today he went to text someone a response and the screen went black, and the blue notification light breathes. It also does a light vibrate, like when you are turning it on. He's getting a replacement anyway, but we want to unroot it before sending in the defective device. I'm wondering (and to my knowledge it seems like) if it's a boot loop. Nothing shows up on the screen at all, not even the back light is coming on. I have yet to connect it to Odin to see if anything comes up. I'm just seeing if this has happened to anyone else and if they have figured out a way to resolve it. My suspicion is that there's a problem with either the boot sector or the recovery sector, as it does not go into recovery.
Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks again!

It sounds like the LCD display has gone bad if the vibration and blue light function normally but you cannot see anything ever.
When they get the new device you might want to suggest that they follow the rooting instruction in this forum on XDA instead of going to a website to do it. Just my opinion.
We are thinking the LCD is bad as well, it just feels like a boot loop because the light vibration keeps happening (I forgot to mention that). Sometimes the blue light will go out and the phone will vibrate lightly and then the blue other starts breathing. It's just repeating that non-stop. I had to pull the battery.
As for him rooting through here, I told him to with his S4 and S5 but he didn't listen. The S4 took a crap, and now the S5 took a crap. I told him I think it's that site. The method is correct but who knows where those flash files come from... I've never had any issues rooting through here, just an occasional reset here and there, nothing as major as this.

Normally, even in a boot loop you see the initial Galaxy splash screen when it first starts booting. Then you see it over and over again. If you see nothing, it normally means the LCD is bad and unfortunately it's the most expensive part of the phone.
Good Luck with it.
If I've been helpful, please hit the thanks button.
That's what I figured... Thanks for your help! (I hit the button )

Wouldn't surprise me if the device is rebooting itself trying to fix a hardware fault. Might be detecting the LCD has stopped forcing itself to reboot.
But yeah, stick to XDA from now on We are good people here Welcome to the family!

I have an at&t lg g5, it is not rooted or modded in any way. I was using it normally, fb and text, basic stuff, then it shut off. Started to cycle though the boot screens...lg start then att in a boot loading screen cycle about 4 times or so then i got the warning your phone MAY be CORRUPTED!? NOTIFICATION ....then BRICK. IT won't turn on and I had not backed all of my pix and info up to my sd, which is ok. I already have a replacement from ATT and haven't yet sent my now PAPERWEIGHT original in and i have a fresh new exact replacement with me. I've searched and googled and searched for anything that I can think of to just get the pix and video off the 1st G5 that I, stupidly, didn't back up. I have to send the broken one back and if anyone can help me get the stuff I need off it before I send it back I will be forever grateful. This is a death cry for help.

I had a couple of phones like that at work. What we did to fix some of the phones was we took the board out of the phone and put the board into an IC Heater/Oven. After the board came out and we put everything back together we turned on the phone with almost no hope of it working and what do you know. It worked. We figured that over time the solder used to hold pieces of the board together became weaker and loosen the ICs on the board. Thus, turning the phone into a brick. What the IC Heater/Oven does to the board is it reheats the solder and reinforces them. Keep in mind though that this method is experimental and we were able to achieve a 60% success rate in repairing phones that were in that brick state. Sorry for the late reply. Thought I shared our methods on fixing this issue.
