If its not the hardware, it can be the kernel problem. Do you see anything in your bootloader (vol down + power while phone is off)?

no it is all black only the bottom light are on is the there a way i can get into it using sdk even thought display is black.??? thanks

Remove and reinsert the battery then try to boot into bootloader and see If screen lights up. You might have fastboot turned on.

I've heard the cables in the 3d are very tiny. Maybe the cable that connects the motherboard to the display is broken or has a broken pin.

You could always try going back to stock. If you are s-on, bout the phone into fastboot, connect to pc, relock the bootloader and run the ruu.exe. You'll have to HTC unlock again. If you're s-off, just run the ruu. You'll keep s-off, but be completely stock otherwise.

i'm s-off but if the screen is black how do i put it in fastboot.?? with sdk.?? if so what commands do i need to run to do what you are saying i do have a copy of the original stock rom and i do want to stay s-off

If you don't have a light at all(even the "black" one), I suggest to take your phone to service because if that is kernel problem, you would have a bit of light. If that is not possible, open your phone and check if there are any irregularities. If you dropped your phone, cable could detach from motherboard. It is not hard to disassemble..you can find youtube video.

You can use adb. With the phone hooked up to the computer, at the command prompt, type adb reboot bootloader.

Unless he's made a habit of dropping his phone in the exact same way, I very much doubt that would help.
If it were a kernel issue your boot loader would have worked all the same (boot loader loads the kernel and is independent of it)
As it's not the screen itself and not a software problem it's probably either the GPU being fried or some other piece of electronics between it and the screen connector ( maybe even the connector itself). As far as I know the "fix" for this is replacing the motherboard or the entire phone. As you've opened the phone I'm going to assume you're not under warranty in which case either repair option is quite expensive... a new PCB is generally over 50% of the phone's value and will most often prevent you from ever unlocking the phone via htcdev;

need help wiping phone screen broken!!

So hard to type. I'm using a mhl cable. Screen is black. Works on tv tho. Just trying to wipe phone before sprint gets it. Root etc. Any help?
just run the RUU on it, once thats done if your S-Off, just get your phone into hboot, press power that should get you into fastboot, plug usb in, issue command to turn S-ON.
Honestly I would just take it in, they can't deny insurance on rooted phones. They might fight with you on, but you are paying for insurance, they have to fix it.
Saw your on HBoot 1.50, doesn't matter what you do they can tell, it'll say Re-locked in the hboot menu.
I don't care about root and unlocked they already ordered me a new phone I just want my other stuff off. Just looking for an easy way.

Use adb to wipe your phone. Take your sdcard out before it sending it to Assurion.
I doubt they will even look at the internal memory before they completely wipe and RUU and replace the screen. they won't care.
it's a hardware problem anyway, nothing memory related
if you are worried about your personal info being stolen, if they do steal your personal info off the phone they will have some big legal troubles

[Q] New Evo 3D bricked after 6 hours? Seriously?

OK so I did the HTCDev unlock perfectly fine, then flashed the Leedroid rom (using cwm) and the kernel (using fastboot), it loaded up and was working great until I made a phone call! Within about 2 minutes of the call it cut out completely (had about 70-75% battery), and I mean it literally just completely shut off and now it won't turn back on. I have done battery pulls, tried a different battery, plugging into charger (but light doesn't even come on!). What is going on?
Sounds like leedroid is your problem

Weird... Have u tried vol down+power?
What you could try, take the SD card out and use either another phone or sd adaptor and place on it the PG86IMG.zip file (you can find this in one of the root threads)..........try the volume-down, power button method to see if it boots into recovery.........if this works, then it will read the .zip file.
---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:33 AM ----------
of course, after placing the .zip file on the card, put back into your phone before trying to boot into recovery.

Yes I tried placing the file on the memory card, no dice. And no I don't get a red light when plugging into charger. It's as if the ROM or whatever the issue is, has completely destroyed it.

Sounds like a hardware issue. How long did you have it before unlocking it? Did you even make sure that the phone ran a few days before screwing around with installing a ROM and Kernel?
Would you buy a new car and not break it in before replacing the factory parts with aftermarket parts?

Used it for about an hour as stock, but that is irrelevant. I wasn't "screwing around" either, I have flashed many phones in my time and always follow the guides provided to completion. The car analogy isn't anything like this, rooting or installing a ROM wouldn't cause a hardware issue any different to a stock ROM would.

That is halfway correct. But you said in your original post that you installed a kernel. The kernel is what runs the hardware. If the kernel is set to run the phone out of spec, this could cause hardware issues.
Did you change the max CPU? What about undervolting?

If you installed the ROM and Kernel, you were running it when you made the phone call and the phone went dead. Leeroids kernel, even though he is an excellent developer and I am not saying anything bad about him or his work, changes cpu and undervolting settings which could cause issues with the phone. I am not saying that that is what caused your issue, but it could have been your phone not playing nice with the kernel.
only other thing I would try is leave the battery out for an hour and try again...........but you've probably been down that road.
Yep... sounds to me like a hardware failure. Shiat! :-/

That is very true, I was just hoping that the kernel "boot up" so to speak could be avoided by opening fastboot and flashing a stock rom back. But as you stated perhaps the undervolting has messed something up. Thank you very much for your insight and help.

Make sure you close all terminal windows and reset the computer. I was having this problem too and simply restarting the computer and phone seemed to solve their inability to talk to each other.
Also, I was having the same problem of it hanging on "waiting for device" before I even got to do the wire trick. Oddly enough, it seemed to be related to the kernel I was using (SebastianFMs OC based off the latest ICS kernel). As soon as I tried using an earlier ICS kernel before I tried again, all the sudden it was detecting my phone correctly and would go on to the wire trick part immediately.

Real quick, when you say it won't charge. Do you mean if you plug it into a wall it won't charge, even when turned off?
Pull out the battery entirely, connect the phone to the computer, and turn on the phone. You should be able to get to HBOOT via USB power. Does this work?

It's going to be ok, just take a deep breath and calm down. If you're stressed out, take a break and put your feet up. Panic and stress are the only thing that will brick a rezound. Anything else can be fixed, besides of course hardware failure, and that's not your issue.

Honestly I'm concerned that your phone doesn't see power or respond to USB at all anymore. Is it possible that you've broken the little tab inside the port on your phone, or is it possible that some piece of debris is shorting out the contacts in there?
you say its still possible to get to HBOOT, which means if you can remove your SDCARD and put a PH98IMG.zip file on it with the correct boot.img you can get it booting again - but I'm concerned that the USB port is damaged and therefore the phone may be useless once the battery is depleted.

Technically you can, it's just a huge pain in the ass, I've done it before. You have to pull the battery out at like a 45 degree angle but make sure there's enough pressure on it so it still makes contact, then slide out the sdcard with your fingernail and get the sdcard. Place the battery back in, get a card reader and put it on there, then reverse the process.

I just looked at usb port, and it's perfect, i blew some compressed air so it's clean.
And yeah i can get into hboot, but im having a problem flashing a PH98IMG.zip, it keeps saying "Parsing" when it finds the file, and it doesn't flash the boot.img
And I'm not worried about the battery depleting, I have a Thunder Bolt to charge the battery. But the fact that my pc won't detect my phone is worrying me.

Yeah it sounds like something is definitely wrong with the phone... has me wondering if the USB issue and the hanging on "parsing" are related by a common malfunction or failure of the device.
Either that, or the PH98IMG.zip file you have on there is bad? I suppose that is entirely possible too... Or if somehow the installed kernel became corrupt, I could see the phone behaving the way it is.
I would try re-downloading another kernel as a PH98IMG.zip file, putting it on the SDCARD and trying all over again with a completely new download. Don't use the one you've been using, just to eliminate a bad PH98IMG.zip as the possible culprit.

LCD only works in bootloader

Ok so Ive searched for help at phandroid, but, I think I might need some XDA help !
I repair phones at CPR loveland colorado.
Routine digitizer replacement on a Rezound. Turn the phone on. Everything looks great. HTC splash screen comes on nice and bright and then cuts out.
The phone is still on and booted into the Android OS. Its just that the LCD is out.
Replaced LCD and i got the same thing. Even tried changing digitizers. Nothing. LCD only stays on for 5 seconds after booting or in the Bootloader.
If I go into the bootloader, the LCD stays on. If i go into recovery it turns off again!
I have ADB/Fastboot set up. But when i use the command "adb devices" while in fastboot usb mode, nothing is shown. I have the latest HTC drivers and HTC SYNC turned off.
I've tried using the leaked ICS RUU through the sd card. It loaded the img and completed, but, still no LCD after boot.
After no luck, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed Amonra. Still, when i go into recovery, the LCD cuts out again. So I relocked the phone.
Phone is currently TAMPERED/RELOCKED.
If anyone has any ideas, please, throw them at me.
Thanks for reading my post guys. Again, any help would be great. Thanks for providing a great community here at XDA!

just thinking out loud...would a messed up/blocked proximity sensor be involved. At what point in the boot process or even in recovery does the sensor become active?
Looks like bad hardware
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yeah there is a problem that probably can't be easily fixed. The proximity sensor is a good thought tho might want to check that out
they proximity sensor should only kill the screen when an application such as the dialer calls upon it to do so. seeing as the screen works when you are booting and fails after boot, have you considered reflashing the phone back to factory?
Or doing a factory reset if u can wing it from hboot

I hope some can help me. thanks in advance.
So you took the back off the phone? Backing which is not supposed to come off ? I think you've done something to your phone very few of us here could help you with.

This happened to me with the HTC One X but because it was the international model I used the RUU and it was fixed.

I don't get what you're saying. If you're talking about the One X, you're in the wrong forum.

Maybe something related to the wires, can you boot into bootloader? then from there you can do a factory restore...otherwise you need to flash a ruu

I used this method to open it :
"To open the HTC One i used an iSesamo tool and a long plastic spudger. Start from the top right corner and insert the blade (or any other thin tool) in between the white plastic back cover. Then take one side of the volume button out (preferably the +) and then insert the plastic spudger in between the back cover and the mother board. "

This is how it looks.
Did you get it?
If you can get into the bootloader try a factory restore.
Sorry to get off topic , but to be honest im shocked you were able to pull that off and make it look that good. Did you have to re-glue anything? Most of us are under the impression that you basically have to destroy the phone to take it apart. Did the black plastic on the side come with the black back plate. More info please. Good luck, i hope you are able to get it working again. If its bootlooping its most likely a soft brick that is fixable. Is the power button maybe not in correctly sticking down?

Yes the black plastic on the side does comes with the back plate and well I just followed the instructions that were on the video description.
I did not have to re-glue anything actually it was just like a snap case when I put it on the new back plate. I already tried a factory reset but still is bootlooping, I already checked and the power botton is not sticking down, I think is a soft brick but Im just going to wait for the RUU.
Try fastboot erase cache and reflash twrp.

You will have to wait for the tmobile ruu to be released. You can attempt s-off and change your cid ,it you do that you can run any ruu for the htc one. Unfortunately, i don't think you will be able to do that if cant get it to boot into hboot or recovery.

Can you power the phone completely off? Otherwise the bootloop will run the battery completely down, which is not good for LiPoly.
