You have to be relocked to flash an RUU. Also why stock? I would recommend using Nils buisness ICS if you want 3.6 global. Or i hear people say Vigor360 is also good.

if i can't fix it i may pull something dirty like i did with my voided htc trophy which consisted of throwing it in water and getting it replaced, but i don't want to do that

You should try flashing nils business sense 3.6 or 4 they both run good and the installer makes it easy to flash just follow the instructions it even puts the ph98img on the sd card and boots to bootloader to install for s-on.

That security warning doesn't matter. It just means you are locked and have a ROM that isn't stock installed. It will go away when you run the RUU.
Did you ever get booted to the bootloader?
I never was really good with installation of software but with hardware....lol

Whenever I try to flash a ROM I always get "main version older". I'm on the stock, rooted gingerbread ROM right now with an unlocked bootloader and if I try to flash any ROM whether it's a gingerbread or ICS ROM I always get the same message when the phone reboots to the bootloader to flash the kernel.
What can I do about this?
After I first unlocked my phone I tried to install an ICS rom then I installed a gingerbread rom after and I never saw that message once. Then I started seeing it so I went back to stock to see if that would fix my issue but it hasn't.

It mostly mean your htc rezound is on a newer main version of software you going to need to downgrade by changing the number here a link to help you do this and take out the older message that come up http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467099
So, theoretically, if I take it all the way back down to 1.00.000.0 I could be able to flash anything because whatever I flash will always be greater than the main version.

Well it works. Anyone have any idea how I keep getting stuck at the HTC screen when I flash some roms (ICS ones mostly). I've never made it past the HTC screen with CleanRom and now I'm on the new Bamf ICS 0.5 rom and I'm sitting here stuck again. The kernel flashed successfully in the bootloader so I'm not sure why I keep getting stuck.

...Gingerbread roms aren't working either. I have flashed 1 ICS rom and 2 Gingerbread roms in the past but for some reason now, I can't flash anything.
I'm wondering if flashing the stock RUU and relocking, then unlocking again and reflashing Amon Ra would fix the issue. After I originally unlocked was the only time I could ever successfully flash anything.
Don't see how locking and re-unlocking would make a difference.

I'm running out of options.
I just bought a Rezound and it is continuously freezing and rebooting within 5 minutes of booting. It usually occurs when unlocking the screen. This occurred on the latest gingerbread release even after 2 factory resets and after upgrading with the leaked ICS ruu. I already did the boot loop fix by making sure WCDMA was not set for the network type. It even freezes with the back cover off and the sim card removed. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
Call 611 and have it replaced. It's borked.

Are you rooted? if so did you run the ics ruu and then go back to gingerbread?
because that would be your issues right there
The phone is 100% stock, it has never been rooted. All I did was upgrade with the leaked ICS ruu. My question is if I call into Verizon will they care that I upgraded with the leaked ruu and if so can I downgrade back to gb I know if I use the gb ruu it will say unable to downgrade to older version.

no, it doesnt need to be on for long
but you need to HTCDev unlock and root it
ive run the Controlbear program when the boot animation starts and before it could even finish it rebooted it to hboot
The HTCdev unlock only requires the bootloader which I can run all day without the phone freezing. If controlbear doesnt require much time with the phone on I will give it a shot and hope for the best.

I was thinking that and I am definitely gonna try it cuz I have nothing to lose.
the s off method only puts the phone into bootloader and recovery. You could probably start in fastboot and it should be able to read it.
I would probably try and get it replaced from verizon. My guess is the memory is faulty. Only explanation if you had the problem on GB and on the ICS RUU since the RUU replaces everything from radios, to rom to kernel.
You did run the ICS RUU twice? That is required to fully flash it.
Yes I did do it twice and the same problems occurred I will run the s off from fastboot and get back to stock and give Verizon a call
So Sprint finally said there was a system update to ICS so I downloaded it and installed and it instantly popped up an error, didn't have any words it was just a picture of the guy with the warning sign. So I waited and it never did anything. I figured I would clear everything/factory reset and see if that fixed it. Nope. Even moreso, it wouldn't let me install any other ROM either. I did enough superwipes and stuff that I finally got the stock ROM to work so I'm back where I started.. One clue might be that I cannot seem to clear the sd-ext, it gives me an error there.
With it back in working order, if I don't clear anything and just try and install ICS from bootloader, what I show in the pic is what happens.
The last part about the E:error in sd card is what I was getting when all the other ROM's were screwing up.
Maybe bad sdcard

I am not the greatest with these things. You are saying I need to unroot my phone for this to work? And I need to somehow get rid of the revolutionary recovery thing? I don't know what OTA means but I can see it's part of the file name. Is there a non-OTA version of it that I can use? For some reason a lot of ROM's don't work. I have hboot 1.5 with s-on and cynogenmod and a lot of ICS ROM's just hang on the HTC screen.

You don't need to unroot, but you need to lock your bootloader and get the stock recovery back to take the OTA. The easiest way to upgrade to ICS without doing all that is to flash the new firmware, then flash a stock rooted rom if you want to stay on the stock rom.

Upgrade firmware through bootloader, then flash a stock rooted rom or a custom rom based on ICS. If you want to use the new kernel, you will have to upgrade hboot as well, or you can keep your current hboot and use the VM leak kernel.

I have started searching and am having a hard time finding exactly what I need. Anyway, I haven't used my Rezound since I got my S3 so I am not really up to speed on where the Rezound is in terms of OTA updates and whatnot. Right now my Rezound is S-Off on a engineering hboot (I believe) and rooted, but it was stock otherwise (up until I stopped using it).
I would like to get it back to 100% stock (other than S-Off, I will leave that as is for now). What is the easiest way to get there? I am assuming flashing an RUU of the latest stock build? If so, what is the latest stock build that I would get if I re-activated the phone and updated it (meaning I don't want any leaks or anything).
Also, it has been so long since I did any flashing on the phone, but what is the easiest way to flash a RUU (since I have never done that). And can I just flash the latest RUU without flashing anything else first?
Thanks, and sorry for all of the noob questions.

flash stock recovery
relock
run which RUU? the newest one is a PH file on android police
unlock

the part that I am questioning is the fact the global RUU is a PH file. But it says I have to be completly back to stock and locked.

I did s-off procedure a few months ago. it took several hours and kept failing. I used a large insulated paperclip with the insulating material removed from each end for good electrical contact.
What I had been doing wrong was not keeping the wire nice and straight in the hole. when the wire is not straight, it will not make good electrical contact with whatever is directly beneath the hole.
I just thought I'd share this tip in case it helps others.
regards,
Howard
p.s. There is no need to install the jbear modified hboot if you are uncomfortably with it. Installing the modified hboot is optional at the end of the s-off procedure. You will still have benefits of s-off with a htcdev unlocked bootloader while using a stock unlocked hboot. For example one can flash kernels via fastboot flash command with a stock hboot. s-off and jbear modified hboot are two separate modifications to the phone.

actually, on a stock, locked HBoot, you CAN'T use any fastboot commands. That's why it's highly recommended to install the JBear HBoot, plus it gives you an easy option to do it and it does it without the user having to do anything

You can, but it wouldn't do any good as the ruu would not clear the tampered, unlocked message. This is why you need the modified hboot I mentioned. It has the message modified that has the correct message of 'locked'.

And you do need to s-off then flash the hex edited hboot.. all you need is for that phone to stay locked and be on a stock Rom and your good. Verizon doesn't usually check as long as you went thru the trouble shooting process with them over the phone and theyll send you a new one in the mail and you'll ship the old one back. They can't technically send you a phone and then charge you for the old one (if it is ***tampered***) cuz they wouldn't have done the proper trouble shooting before sending you a new phone. For all they know you got your phone that way.

For all they know you got your phone that way.
sent from my s-off reZound rockin' viperRez Rom on global ICS firmware
