I've been looking up everywhere as to how to make apps, but everything i see is too complicated and i don't understand it. What i want to do is create a simple app that has a bunch of pages that you swipe to get to the next page, each page will just be a picture with a single button on it that links to some text. How would i go about doing this? (i have no programming experience)
bumpity bumpo.
Sorry, really need help on this and everything i find is too complicated.
Nothing? really? Well, is there anywhere else i can try to get an answer?

Update: Wow I'm an idiot. There's an icon right on the address bar that opens the exact window I'm thinking of. In my defense, I don't think I used to have to access it this way. I seem to recall there being a menu option. Who knows. I bricked my G1 so I can't go look.
On my G1 I could long-press on the Back button and get my browser history. I've read elsewhere that this is the case on other phones. This is mysteriously missing from the Vibrant. Plus there used to be a menu option to see it. I can find no way to access the history using the "Web" app. There is a button in settings to clear the History, but what's the point if no one can ever see it?
Same with Bookmarks. I can create bookmarks, but there don't appear anywhere! The button that normally shows bookmarks (if I recall correctly) is now an "Add RSS Feeds" button. The only way I've been able to access bookmarks is by creating a shortcut on my home screen. That's pretty ridiculous.
I seem to remember bookmarks, history, and possibly the open window list all being in one spot with a tabbed interface. All I can get to now is the open window list. EDIT: No, wait, I think it was bookmarks, history, and downloads all in one place. I was using CM5 at the time if that matters.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Also, does anyone else think it's annoying that the browser has it's own brightness setting and you can't just tell it to use the normal brightness setting? I understand the idea behind the future. You spend a lot of time staring at the screen when using the browser, so it's nice to be able to dim it to save battery power, but I sure wish there were an option to just make it use the normal brightness, because I really don't care. This is especially annoying when I have the brightness in the browser all the way up, and I'm using the reddit app at night in my bed, and I click a link. BAM! I'm blinded by the bright screen and have to keep staring at it to go find the setting to lower it.
I think Samsung made some really dumb mistakes with their version of Android. I know that custom roms solve these problems, but users shouldn't have to hack their phone to get basic features like access to browser history and bookmarks.
I've installed the PACman rom to try out, I've plenty of experience with other roms so installation no problem.
My problem comes from one of the features (no idea where it comes from) where I've got a float round semi-transparent blob on the left hand side of the screen which seems related to notifications somehow. It wasn't there initially, I think I pressed something in the notification bar to bring it up.
I find it annoying and gets in the way, but I can't find in the options how to get rid of the wretched thing.
Since I don't know what it's called, searching is pretty much useless. The thread in the development area posts to a place for "new to", however that's a dead link and I can't post anything there to ask or get that corrected since I don't have enough posts.
Can anyone help?
My guess is that it is Halo. Have not tried PAC so can't help u to get rid of it but guess there is a way to turn it off. Good luck
PS. try longpressing it and see if you can delete it.

The above poster is correct, it's called Halo. To delete, double tap but don't let go of the second tap. You can then drag it up, to a red circle at the top of the screen and delete it. There will always be an option to turn it back on, from the notification shade though. That's unless PACman has an option to completely disable it, I know Rootbox does. Watch this video to see what it does/ is intended for, it's more than just a notification manager http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5WljHcOyXs

heyy how is the battery life of the rom and what bugs doest it have?
Thanks
Thanks for the info, I managed to get it turned off again. I'll come back and take a look at it properly later, see if I can get used to it, or find a way of making it more to my liking.
So, my issue is quite simple and I've done an extensive amount of searching to find an answer but have found nothing.
I'm attempting to incorporate a custom home screen on my One. While using UCCW, the entire user interface / layout of the app is different for me than any that I see in a tutorial video ... top left I only have the options for New | Open | Save and it never changes. There's a blank space below, and under the space there are options for Add/remove objects, Edit Objects, Sort Objects etc that scroll vertically. The biggest issue that I have is that there is absolutely NO where for me to enable a hotspot once i've edited it, let alone create one from scratch. I feel like the biggest idiot, but every single walk through video i've seen on youtube for UCCW, has a completely different type of interface than the way mine looks and I seem to be missing some key options / menu's.
Is there anything someone can do to help me figure out what is going on?

Click menu button of your phone while in uccw, click lock widgets hotspot mode. All hotspot should now be working.

Well you would think it is that simple ... my home button currently opens my apps, since building the home screen I would otherwise not have any other way to access them until I am finished. I was just thinking about this on the way to work and I think I need to re-assign my home key to act as the app's menu without compromising my only way to access my apps until I am finished with this theme hehe
Hello, I know i'm going to die as maybe i didn't place this post correctly, also i'm not a developer, only a graphic designer.
I'm looking for some advise, hope someone could help me with that.
Imagine that you launch your app, and within that there is a button that says "Install widget". You press that button, then the app closes and a widget appears on the home screen.
Is that possible?
i've been reading that before 4.2 i wasn't, but something changed from then. Problem is that i have no more information about this, and also i don't know if it changed over time.
I'm behind the graphic design of a widget. The idea is that you first download the app, which will help you to configure the widget, and then you have to manually place the widget in place.
They are afraid that some people wont understand, and they will cease trying.
I only would like to know if this is possible, (or something similar) and if someone knows any APP that does this thingie.
Note: APPS like "Swiftkey" guides you in the process of installing your keyboard. it asks you to go to a determinate place of the phone settings, and gives you a shortcut to that place so you don't have to go by yourself.
It would be amazing. To directly place a widget o to guide them trhough shortcuts.
Many many thanks in advance!
I'm looking to make a small app for a friend. It's just gonna be like one of those app introduction pages where you swipe left to get to the next instruction/page. That's all I need. I used Android studio and had a go, and was able to make an app that had a blank activity with text, and a button. Also made a second activity as ghee second page but was unable to link the button to it. Tried multiple times but failed. Can someone help me?
