Looking for a way to turn one of the hardware buttons into a PLAY/PAUSE button while the screen is off. Any ideas on how this can be done? I have a rooted X10a w/2.1

i have thought of this, when the screen is locked i the home button should be play/pause, the menu back and the backkey next song.
I bought Music PlayerPro - the Volume Up/Down keys skip next/previous, or hold for volume up/down. (You can reverse this behaviour in the app too).
This works when the screen is locked btw.
I would love pause too... but the volume down does a similar job.
Have a look here:

I think it was released the same day you asked, as well!
Hello all. Tried searching but seems like nobody has mentioned this before.
I'd like to know if there is any button (other than the power button) that will light up the screen from standby ( so I check the time / read notifications without unlocking the phone). Previously I use iPhone4 and Arc S and both can light up the screen from standby with the home button. I find it pretty annoying to have to press the power button (especially when you put your phone on the table). So is it possible to say, make the screen light up even with volume up/down buttons or shutter button?
Many thanks!
Widget locker will do this for you.

But using go locker will disable my ability to have music control on the lockscreen. Is there a way to get round it?

I bought Poweramp. May I ask how did you get the lockscreen to work with Poweramp?
I tried GoLocker and it wakes with any button press.

Hi. Is there a way to turn the torch on and off using the phone's power button? I've tried several torch apps but the torch just stays on when the power button is pressed.

I can do this with my nexus 5 using Power Torch:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.ppareit.powertorch
is it possible to wake the phone using those capacitive buttons or by swiping the screen instead of using the power button?
One thing I find annoying about the Z2 compared to my last HTC is that when I want to turn the volume down to silent I have to fully unlock the phone, by turning it on and swiping, before I can adjust the volume. With my old HTC I just had to push the power button and I could adjust the volume from the lock screen.
Is there a way I could get the Z2 to do this? Maybe an xposed mod?

@kotton666 Well with Z2 I just use the volume rocker even when the screen is off. I just did it just now listing to Metallica with my headphones on:good:
