Probably not officially supported, but I've seen CM7/9/10 on the Droid Inc (my first android phone) and CM9 plus currently working on CM10 on Rezound (my 2nd android phone).. AFAIK, thunderbolt has CM7 and CM9, and I can honestly see some Cyanogen in this phones future
Id like to see it but either way one has to wait for HTC to release the kernel to start original development right?
Yes it is supported....

Search google, as I just did and there are step by step instructions available how to install CM10 on ur device....would have posted the link but as per forum rules I cannot do so bcoz I am a new to this forum
Yes there is a CM10 build available, however it does not (and probably never will) have working data. Smart phone without data equals dumb phone.
Fortunately there are a couple of talented themers who have put a lot of nice lipstick on the HTC/sense UI (EclipszeRemix) which is good but not the same thing as stock.

How could you say it will never have data?? Do you develops for cm? Don't make statements that aren't true.

His device is somewhat old, so that's why he assumed that it may never have data on CM. Once a device has been out for some time, it loses support as devs move on to new devices. It's the circle of life.
There has been trouble getting CM to work on the last several verizon HTC phones. Even if they get a port working, there are usually broken features due to HTC's changes to android (camera, BT stack, etc).
I guess your best bet is that if you really have to have CM10 on your device, you don't buy the device until CM10 is working to your liking. That will save everyone alot of headache of listening to users complain about not having CM10 on a phone that no one promised it for.

Unfortunately the Thunderbolt only has CM7, which isn't officially supported. There is AOSP ICS but not by CM.
In regard to several posts within this thread, Th kerne source will be helpful but the true issue is the RIL(radio interface layer) that prevents aosp from being ported. If the RIL can be cracked we should have a fully functional CM10 build and it will likely be fully supported. I know for a fact that there are already devs working on this and S-off so hang tight guys things should get interesting. We have some awesome devs on this project already!

ALSO IMPORTANT: Please for the love of god do not try to install any build of CM10 you find on the internet on this device(they are designed for other devices with other chipsets and antenna pairings). YOU WILL REGRET IT, and you will likeley brick your device.(valid until we have our own port as of right now this device is completely unsupported. just trust me on this.)
And to the data being functional see my previous post!

I'm genuinely curious if this big kernel source drop is going to be beneficial to us or not. I've heard two sides to the story:
1. "HTC b trollin' man, they drop source and release a new kernel..."
2. Devs can use the old kernel and fix the issues that HTC fixed, along with the other issues AOSP ROMs were having like sound and MMS.
I have no idea what's going on, and I'm curious whether I should expect things to blow up here soon, or if this kernel source has been essentially useless. I'm generally unaware of how long it takes devs to pick apart the kernel code and utilize it. Any input from those with knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Both are correct. It doesn't really help sense based Roms because sense kernels are going to be newer than source.
However, aosp roms can now be fully functional. Aosp is what many people on here care about and are waiting for.

It's not useless for aosp, the problem is nobody is really working too much on aosp roms. There is a cm and MIUI port but they are a ways off and only so much one person can do..

It still might, but I think I'm still somewhat jaded by the og evo and the support it had. The 3D never really had much, and it's looking like the lte is gonna be around the same.
I do think we'll eventually get some aosp goodness, just isn't hopping like I hoped it would be. I don't mean this as a slight to the devs we do have because they are great, all of them.

It's only been a little over a month since the phone first came out. Give more people time to transition and we should start to see more activity. It isn't that bad so far, but most development is based around Sense because no one wants to wrestle with AOSP. Once they get AOSP stuff finished though, we'll be golden.

Yeah, I'm sure that's true. In my head, I figured everyone would be working to get to that point as quick as possible once kernel source was released. Like a giant team project, haha. Instead, it appears that only a select few are tackling it. Even custom kernels seem to be a rare mention. Oh well, I'll continue to enjoy the Sense ROMs as much as I can until someone cracks the AOSP code.

We just need the support of the big guys. For some reason it feels like most of the big time devs haven't moved on to this phone yet, or went with Samsung instead. I know that Preludedrew is working on JB for our phone, I talked to him about it yesterday on Gtalk. Deck mentioned in IRC that he was working on it as well, I believe.
The kernel developers are hiding so far, probably because we don't have the big guys working for us yet. I'd love to see a Tiamat kernel, even if I'm personally not a fan of custom kernels.
Kernel.org is also down, so that's slowing things up for everyone.

I always used custom kernels with EVO 4G and remember zero reboots due to kernel issues . Easy overclocking and underclocking, volume mods, performance increases while still improving battery life... Yes please!

So far my experience with HTC phones have been a very disappointing one. Coming from the OG Epic, all I've kept hearing was how awesome the development for the OG EVO was. So of course when the EVO 3d came out it was my phone of choice over the Epic Touch. That was disappointment number one. Then when the LTE came out, I've noticed all the OG EVO developers and owners was all excited about this phone, so i decided to give HTC another chance. So for I've been more disappointed then at any point. The lack of ROMS, the pitifully performance of sense 4 and HTC's new stance on locking bootloader and sneaky updates with new Hboots was the last straw. What phone will I get next? Im not sure, but it won't be a HTC.

I am considering the EVO LTE when I upgrade in September, but one thing that is holding me back is the lack of CM or stock roms. I know there is one that is almost at daily driver status, but in the EVO 4G section there are several jellybean roms. Is this due to some source code HTC or Sprint is not releasing yet? If there were more community support, I would jump on this phone, but this issue is a serious blow. If anyone could explain this, many thanks.
Cm10 is practically fully working for our phone thanks to kushdeck... You have to connect to irc for the downloads... The irc link is in the cm9 forum somewhere....

I'm sure you meant something else, but there are a BOATLOAD of "stock ROMs" for this phone. If you mean AOSP, then no, there aren't a lot yet. I'm told that due to a lack of kernel source. However, there is CM10 that is pretty much done. Everything mostly works. Video, camera, SMS, MMS, audio, calls, gallery, WiFi, 3G, 4G, NFC, Bluetooth, Google Now.... It's ready to go. Get this phone and stop worrying about that. I would never dream of going back to the OG EVO. It's a rock and the screen looks archaic to me now. I guarantee CM10 on this thing looks WAAAAAY better than it does on the OG EVO.

Once cm10 is officially released youll start to see AOKP and MIUI

When did we get official support? The sensation seemed to be the only official supported HTC device last time I checked... It was quite awhile ago that I looked into it though... Yep, that's the way it works. From what I've gathered, they want everything to be working for the most part because the CM team doesn't want to focus on fixing everything. They support so many devices that they can't spend their time solving all of the problems that pop up. Now that we have it working they can just release builds for us.
I've been running CM10 for the past couple weeks and you couldn't pay me to go back to that Sense crap

If you aren't prepared to do very minimal reading and to exert a little effort, then you'll just have to wait until Deck is ready to share the builds with the public.
Sorry if I came across as abrasive or ungrateful. I didn't mean to come across like that.
I just find it odd that there is no thread to discuss cm10 and that in turn causes a lot of other threads to go off topic because nobody has a central place to discuss what everybody is discussing.

It isn't ready. You will see people say it is a daily driver because they want AOSP really bad or whatever. Once kush decides it is good enough to be a daily driver you will see a thread pop up. Until then it is an Alpha or Beta or whatever you want to call it and you need to seek it out.

I thought the Verizon model had different partitions etc. The reason why the unlock process was different.
Do we know what devs might be working on a CM10 port? If somebody is working on it, it would be nice to have a status thread. I know that is asking alot and we are very early in the "post-unlocked bootloader era", but I just want a device that has stock jelly bean on it! Even with Bean's ROM it is way too Touch-Wizy.
I would give money to that person, assuming they are committed to ongoing support (aka they own the SGH-I605).

sbrissen is "working" on it, and I'm guessing there will be a post about it at some point soon, but that is on his time table. It will be posted when ready for public consumption.
Also, the VZW version has a slightly different partition layout, but not overly different. Most of the partitions are at the same location as the international variant. The other versions didn't have an unlock process because their bootloader wasn't locked. The unlock guide you see posted is for the SIM card so you can use any carrier SIM in it.

The sad thing about the facebutt world is it created users who want everything now. There needs to be normal roms in mass and then we will get aokp. I can't think of a vzw phone whose boot loader was cracked so fast, I wasn't interested in the s3. The Htc phones I've had as of late took months to get "fixed" but that gave time for devs to work on their roms. I'm in enjoying my note as is [rooted & unlocked] at the moment. However, if you are looking for a timetable use 3 months and we should have some nice roms by then.

So it seems there is that Chinese Rom with Sense 4.1 and working 3D, this is amazing, however, it is the only one of it's type.
The fact that HTC did not release the Driver Sources made me somehow hate them and it was the reason why many bugy couldnt be fixed, many devs left.
So, this Chinese Rom is removed because it is not allowed according to the rules, but... why exactly?
Could someone please post information on this story, really, this is EXTREMELY important, it could change our 3volife
Is it because it's a Viper fix, why then don't they release the fix?
So, the simple question is:
What's the fuzz about the 3D-fix? Somehow no one knows whats going on!
I'm gonna make it as brief as possible.
We can't release it on XDA or link to it because it is considered kang. The ROM is based off of a Viper3D build and was used without permission. Now unless Team Venom gives us permission to release their ROM with working 3D here on XDA, we can't do it because then that's kanging someone else's work, and that's highly frowned upon here, and leads to heavy infractions

I can not understand how is it possible that only one team is capable to make 3D work. Why can not someone else make it from the basis without their rom?

I am pretty sure coolexe or anryl or mwakious could do it if they have time
Somebody could definitely do it, but it would be a very hard thing to do since HTC doesn't hand out their 3D drivers. That team who got it working guaranteed was working for weeks and weeks on end getting it working, somebody here could do it for sure, but nobody has tried yet, and its probably something that's more trouble than its worth. Even if we looked at what that team did to get it working we can't use any of that, or even copy any of that because then it would still be kanging their work. Its something we either A) need to get permission for or B) take care of ourselves, but have that be 10000x harder. Its not impossible, but it is improbable

I'll probably get flamed but the whole purpose of android being open source is so anyone and everyone can contribute and make it a better experience.
I understand the HTC drivers are proprietary, but in my eyes, if you've made something better why not share it with the world...are these 'team' members making money on these fixes, are they coming out with their own proprietary phones...that's the only reason I can see to necessitate keeping these fixes to yourself...yes I applaud any ROM dev for their work (I sure as hell couldn't do what they do) but what's the point in the end? Bragging rights? Come on!

Android is open source, you changed is the exclusive copyright? This is not unreasonable.
If anyone need help, you can email me
The rules centered around this are not android related. It has nothing to do with open source, they're xda's rules. It makes sense why they're there (that way we don't see the same exact ROM under a different name pop up every 20 minutes, etc.). I don't like the rule either but hey, its just something we gotta live with

I think that we could do an exception for 3D in 4.1 sense...

GSM - working like a charm. Using the 2.0 version. Aroma is in Germany but pretty understandable.

Sieht gut aus, heruntergeladen! I'll probably tear the rom apart and see about making it CDMA worthy, though I won't be able to share it once I'm done being it's Kang'ed...

No lags at all. What I experienced was huge battery drain. So, right now, I oam in the process of reverting back to stock ROM. Tired of all these tests. Gonna get SIII tomorrow anyway
So we have fixed 3D camera now? ICS or JB?
Don't seem to see a straight answer. Only that it is using venom tweaks without perms..?

Well, we do have full 3D working on a ICS Sense 4.1 ROM
I am curious as to why there is a lack of develoment on a quadcore/1080p spec phone? Is it in large part to HTC being stingey with it's kernel source code?

What are you talking about, there's plenty of development on this device.
My biggest issue with the DNA is having to pick a rom to flash...
Might I suggest checking out the development and original development threads?
You can currently follow along with joelz while they trouble shoot a new port.
AOSP
CM10
MIUI
Sense 4
Sense 5
Several kernels
Looks like development to me.

Seriously, is there something you want that is not developed such as a specific rom, kernel, recovery, etc?
I think there is plenty of development for the DNA. What could you possibly want? Everything has already been listed. It's leagues ahead of the Droid Razr I used to have. Let's not forget that a new method for S-off is still pretty new. That's the major reason why development was lagging behind and since then it's been booming. You already have several different 4.2.2 AOSP roms to choose from. Then you have the Sense 4+ and 5 roms that are perfect. I personally don't see how development is so bad.

There are no two ROMs that are the same right now in the original android development section.
If you go try each one out you will see that they really are very different.

Is it because they are mostly built from the same base? I can see that being confusing to some, thinking there is no real development going on.. However, the same base != the same rom. There is real development going on for our device and all other devices on these forums.. I for one feel we have plenty to choose from and things are only going to get better and easier down the road... May have an official Sense 5 rom for the devs to play around with if Verizon gets things going.. I love it here!! Am I wrong? :good: :highfive::highfive:

That was sarcasm. In other words most of our roms have a completely different feel. On the GNex there were a lot of dups for sure.
Considering that this is a Verizon exclusive, locked bootloader, low popularity, CDMA phone, I'd say that delopement here is going pretty good. We have plenty of Roms, consisting of stock Sense 4 based, Sense 5 based, and CM/AOSP based. We even have an alpha build of Sense 5 4.2.2! We also have decent kernel development, 2 or 3 for AOSP and several for Sense. I've come to trust @.torrented and @pio_masaki for giving you the best overall user experience and working with the user to fix and repair not only their ROMs but miscellaneous bugs completely unrelated to them. These two have made it a truly great dev community. Because of these two, I am perfectly fine with the stage of development on our devices. If either of you are reading this, I love you guys!
If extensive development is what you want, get off Verizon and buy a Nexus 4 or a Google Edition HTC One/SGS4

I don't think it has "low popularity" lol... Considering up till a month or so ago it was top selling if not near so on Verizon.

Don't get me wrong, its an amazing phone that could easily compete with the SGS4, but it's Verizon exclusive so it never made it to that status. It was a mistake on Verizons and HTCs part to make this beast a carrier exclusive.

well, considering that verizon sells the iphone and the SGS4 (and the SGS3 if you want to talk about 2012), will them having close to 50% and 30% market share, respectively, i dont really see how the DNA could have been anywhere near a top seller. not to mention the note 2 and others. i would probably label this phone "unpopular". most people have never even heard of this phone. i'm glad they are making the "droid" branding exclusive to motorola. the DNA's exclusivity to Verizon killed the awesome potential this phone had. but still, i think we have awesome development. except, i dont understand why we have 5 million aosp roms.
