Is it to much to ask somebody of you to modify native camera application (ICS, JB) in order to fix bug with recording stereo sound? The problem is that recorded stereo sound has swapped channels (left is right and right is left). Audio channels should be remapped.
Thanks.
Just turn the phone around so the headphone socket is on the right side instead of the left when you record, all sorted.

I already tried but it is not sorted because video played on PC is turned for 180 degrees (upside down) and I have to use separate software to turn it back. Useless. Any other feedback?
Thanks.

I also would love to hear somebody fixes it. It's enormously annoying. What's more, stereo audio recorder (RecForge Pro) also record with the same mapping (you have to keep your phone with home button on the left side), it doesn't record video, of course, but it shows that this mapping is global. So i think, a global modification for entire system would be cool for this, not just camera app mod.
hoping for a fix on this too...

It's not a bug. That's just how it is with the X10.
Ok.. thank you very much...

Been using the X10 with the MW600 for 3 months now.
You can:
-be synched to your laptop and when you receive a call, the phone will take over.
-listen to radio and answer calls.
-See the phone number of whomever is calling you.
-double press the talk button to redial last outgoing contact.
-Use the play, rewind and forward buttons to control mediascape.
You can't:
-See the name of the contact even if it is saved in your phonebook.
-See the name of the track.
The two can'ts are what stands the mw600 out, but I honestly do not regret getting it as for it has decent audio transmission. Plus, there is a chance of this all being fixed after update by SE

I use a mac, so I don't know if this will hold true for you as well. When I use the MW600 as a "headset" the audio quality diminishes, but when I use it as "stereo headphones", the audio quality is great.
Its all in the profiles...

This is essentially true for all bluetooth capable PCs as well. In bluetooth terminology the term "headset" and "headphones" refer to what is called as bluetooth profiles. More info here:
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Bluetooth_profile
The "headphones" or the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) is designed to provide high quality audio (stereo or mono) transmission capabilities between two bluetooth capable devices. Hence, the difference that you notice.

Yes, you can use either or.
MW600 also works fine with spotify. Recommend the AKG K 450 headset with the short cable
With android 2.1 the x10 will be able to show track names and caller names as it doesn't lack the blutooth profiles which android 1.6 doesn't have.

afaik, there is no specific profile for displaying music track names, but caller ID work off the phonebook access profile (PBAP). so i'm guessing music track titles work off the phone's pbap as well?
I've just got mine, the quality is really good.
Additional bad points for me:
Mediscape: I can use the play/pause & skip tracks on the video, but doesn't work on the music !?
No "hold" on the buttons, as I keep accidentally touching the volume controls as volume control is touch sensitive
I haven't tried the voice activated calling though...

Weird.. it worked for the music for me.
for the touch sensitive volume button, you should hold it, not swipe it if you want to use the pause/play/next/prev buttons. it shouldn't that hard.
Mine definitely doesn't work with the music (in Mediascape), only with the video...
When I press on any of the 3 buttons:
PREVIOUS KEY / PLAY-PAUSE KEY / NEXT KEY
the light either side of middle button of the x10 lights up, but that's it.
I'm on standard R2BA020 (yeah, I tried switching it off and on again = didn't fix it!)
- also tried SEUS, it said no update for me - followed instructions (including taking the battery out etc)
I've only got one other music app = tuneWiki = the buttons work on that.
So, for me, Must be something wrong with Mediascape's Music program
== Quick Update ==
I've just rooted my x10i / debranded it, and managed further update the firmware (via SEUS) to R2BA026
= Still no joy on the playback controls for Mediascape's Music.
I've resetted the Headset
= Still no joy on the playback controls for Mediascape's Music.
Hope the next major update will fix this for me...
Instead of using the headphones can you activate the speaker phone to listen to the radio?
i just got my mw600 today. I havent used it for the gf's x10 yet (im in charge of the phone, she's just the end user) but it works fine on my k790a. It displays the name of the caller, the song titles and all the buttons work as suggested.
Im curious as to why this old ass phone from 2006 is capable of doing all this while the flagship x10 cant....
As you may know, DXLP7 is one of the full ICS releases of Ice Cream Sandwich. One of the updates brings stereo audio recording to the Samsung Galaxy S2's video recordings.
However, the audio channels do not correspond to their actual relative location in the video. In fact, they are inverted so what should be heard in the left channel is now in the right channel, and vice versa. (this is when the video is being recorded with the phone's home button on the right side of the phone.)
Flipping the phone so that the home button is on the left side fixes the audio problem, but another problem arises. The camera app's interface is in the right orientation, and so is the playback of the recorded video. But when the video file is copied to the computer and played using a PC media player, the video is flipped 180 degrees.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix besides editing the video itself?

im sorry but this is very confusing for me....
1: it can record stereo, so you will hear 2 seperate channels.... but how in a phone with its builtin mic can to record specific to each channel?
i mean you want to hear your left speaker say left and right say right when you record the sound?
for me you can hear different sounds from both speakers, with better quality.....thats enough

Well, the idea of stereo sound is to have the correct sounds coming out of their respective left and right channels, right? If I record something coming from the left side but the sound comes out from the right channel in the video, wouldn't that be weird?
I use the CM10 from Droid Basement and I have the following problems with audio:
1- When using headphones, minimum volume is too loud. When I increase the volume, it goes up only a few steps, and then stays on the same level until maximum volume on the slider.
2- When recording videos with the camera, only left channel of audio is recorded. It probably should merge both left and right since it's mono.
Anyone else having those problems? I work with audio and video a lot and this is a very annoying problem present since the first version I installed of this CM10.
I use P7500.
The first problem is an all around JB bug I think. I had it on AOSP, AOKP, and CM on my s2.

you might want to try the A1 kernel as it includes VooDoo sound. that might work..
1. make sure you get the cm version. it works well for most but i cant get it work.... it freezes me up as soon as my homescreen loads. if you wanna try it.......
2.make sure you have pershoots 11/19 kernel on your sd card so you can flash back if you run into the same problem...
A1 Kernel READ CAREFULLY---- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833136
Pershoots 3.1.10 (11/19) Kernel ---- http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2906
good luck...report back =)
I am having the same issue. I tried installing beats audio, but it didn't change the volume problem, it did make the sound a little better though. I am hoping this issue is fixed in a later version of cm10.
Also, I am having an issue (i posted it in the forum with no response) of my lockscreen being stuck in landscape mode, even when auto rotate is on. Does anyone else have this same issue?

This has already been fixed in cm10.1 for tab 10.1 and is included in the nightlies.
My problem isn't the same as the OP, but title is the same: CM10 audio problems.
I would absolutely LOVE to use this ROM. I've tried cyanogen on many occasions and been very impressed. My only downfall with CM9 and CM10 was the audio. On CM9, my headphone volume would always reset to a low volume when a new song played. The only way I could find to fix this was via the DSP manager wm989 tab (or something similar) and changing the amplifier level, then changing it back. I never followed up to see if others were having the same problems, so I'm sure it is an issue that was already resolved. I eventually dumped the ROM for another because of the problem, BUT....I digress.
My current problem is on CM10. I love the clean look, I love the speed, the customization....EVERYTHING.....except the audio. I just noticed it a bit earlier while trying to play Youtube videos; the speaker volume was extremely low. I don't see any amplifier settings on the speaker tab of DSP manager. I have audio manager / Hide it pro installed, but all those volumes are at max. I went so far as to remove DSP manager from the system/app folder....but that did nothing useful that I can tell (aside from giving trebuchet a forced close). I installed Beats Audio, but that didn't help. I'm at a loss, and freely admit that I'm struggling to figure out how to resolve this. Would someone please assist? I'll gladly post logs if necessary.....just tell me how to post them. I really want this ROM to work, because it is almost perfect aside from this problem.

I have tried just using the standard sound recorder app but all I get is recording through normal mic.
Yes, you can do this. I suspect your problem is in your PCs mixer setup. If you are using Windows, different versions have different ways of getting there, but typically thru Control Panel, Sounds & Audio Devices. Select Mixer Device: audio input for your sound card. You will get a set of controls for each input device. You can select the one you want to use and adjust its volume. I suspect you may be set to use line input but connecting to mic or something like that. It's easiest to check if you use a microphone and audio source (e.g., CD player) for "test" sources and playing with controls til you get recording ok. Then plug you mobile into the same jack.
Good Luck.

Frankly, I don't need it, but just out of curiosity I tried using the standard voice recorder with a mic on a stock headset, and it worked perfectly. So, as long as you have a mic properly connected to your audio socket, you should be all good to go. "Regular" mic will not work, as it has a different connector pinout. Basically, your 3.5mm jack wiring should be like this (starting from the tip, going towards the cable): L-Out | R-Out | GND | Mic. This is the standard pinout used in most phones, including Sammy. On Nokia handsets and some old phones GND and Mic are reversed.
Excuse my bumping, but surely someone has a definitive answer and doesn't mind sharing it with me?

Oh, that's what you are trying to do... OK, it's clear now. In this case, the answer is most definitely negative -- the phone's audio connector only has a microphone mono input. I don't believe such combo connectors (with stereo out and stereo in) even exist in 3.5 mm standard... I personally have never seen one, or heard of it.

I have that exact mic and it's pretty good for what it is. Not as sensitive as I'd like (Trying to do voice dictation in university lectures doesn't really work) but a definite improvement over the built in mic.
Have You checked the mic sensitivity settings in the sound & notification settings -> accessory settings menu for the build in/external mic?

I tried setting it on high earlier today (classes are done so I can't check how a lecture setting would work) but fairly quiet speaking (like if you were in a movie theatre to someone beside you) from about 4 feet away seems to be the range at which the word recognition is still accurate.
Speaking at normal or loud volumes makes the voice control useable from pretty much anywhere inside an average sized bedroom.
