you don't need to unlock. you got safe mode because you hold the vol - too long. just press it several times (without holding) when sony logo appear to go into recovery

hello,
im having a issue with my phone. i have installed CWM on it and i was just looking for roms. first i installed MIUI Rom which i didnt like.. so after that i did a full wipe and then installed another rom which is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955630 this one
and now...i think that i can throw away the phone. it wont boot/start up. if i press the power button it just vibrates ones and then it looks like it dies again. the red dot on the top right shows up for like 3 seconds even if i am recharching it right now. i cant go in the CWM menu either. i tried a battery remove trick, that didnt help either. what did go wrong when i was installing the rom? when it was done installing it. it just didnt want to starting up again..
please help.. i don't wanna throw away 200 euros..
Thread moved to Q&A
Please post in the correct section next time

Once u have the ftf file and flashtool
Install flashtool in any drive lets say c drive
Go to c / flashtool / firmware
In the firmware folder place ftf file
Now go to c / flashtool / driver
And install driver for xperia u
Now open flashtool
( make sure ur device is off and not connected to ur pc)
Click on thunder icon
Select flashmode
Select ftf file
Check on exclude ta
Also check no final verification
Now click flash
Flashtool will ask u to Connect phone
Now pick up ur SWITCHED OFF phone, press the VOLUME DOWN button... Keep the volume down button pressed.. And connect the usb to ur phone
Flashing will start ( once flashing starts leave the volume down button) and let it finish

So yea I've rooted my Xperia Neo and want to install a custom ROM but I cant enter recovery,
I've tried:
- Quick Boot (Via playstore)
- ROM Manager
- Tried all the button-pressing combinations
- ADB + SDK
But nothing works... and I'm at my wits' end... :crying::crying::crying:
Did you try reading the stickies..
There is no default recovery on stock, flash a custom kernel or install cwm yourself, the how to for both is in the stickies

I'm not sure if I've unlocked the bootloader, I tried unlocking it via the steps in the sony ericsson help website and when I use SDK cmd it doesnt recognize 'bootloader.exe' or 'bootloader' or 'fastboot' as a command.
When you say all 3 buttons, which buttons do you specifically mean? - power, vol +, vol -?
BTW, just as a reminder, my phone is Rooted with SU and Rom Manager installed.
I've googled for hours and reading threads - but it's still super difficult for me.
I tried SDK, and it went as far as recognizing my device in fastboot mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269
Try CWM installation guide given in the above thread....its a command script... after u extract the zip ..read the instructions carefully..
After installation reboot and keep pressing the volume button down to enter recovery.... this method always works for me..

it is worth noting that my bootloader is still LOCKED (ASSUMINGLY - because I havent unlocked it), AND ALSO that my phone is rooted, I only need to go to recovery.
Question:
Can I still flash/boot custom ROM WITH the BOOTLOADER LOCKED?
if u have installed cwm correcly do as i said. the buttons are back, home, menu buttons. but this is only if u have stock rom and kernel, if u hace custom kenel then it is volume down lots of time until it boots cwm
hope i helped.

I'd use the thanks button when I deem it fit.
Because my problems not solved yet, I can't install the ADB drvers. and my laptop detects my phone as it's name , not as 'other device'.
So I can't install the ADB files hence nothing works.

So the phone is Xperia U, for Croatian market.I dont know if you can check the model via the SI number ?
My problem is that the phone keeps crashing every time after android startups. In most cases it stucks on the unlock screen, where the phone freezes, and after 1 min it restarts .Sometimes it shows a black screen with an yellow triangle saying "The free space on memory card may not be enough. There is less then 200 mb free" for like 1-3 seconds.I tried flashing it with flashtool with 5-6 different stock roms but nothing helps. It alse wont charge when i connect it to the charger. The digitizer was cracked, and it was replaced with another from ebay.
I got the phone in this condition, but i think that the bootloader is locked,no root and not CWM.
Anyone have an idea ? Could the problem be with the kernel ? Is there a difference between st25i and st25a ?

I managed to unlock the bootloader, and i put CWM on the phone. So i succeed in making a factory reset and clearing the user data.
Unfortunately the phone is still broken. With most TFT-s it wont even get past the SONY logo,or it just shows a dark screen and the red LED is blinking the entire time.
I m out of ideas.I tried every stock FTF i could find on XDA and still nothing. With the GB rom from Telcel it boots up to the lockscreen where it freezes and restarts. There is no more error of low memory, but a new error, that shows a crying smiley and says that the phone has crashed and shows a bar that loads to 100% and then restarts again
The phone works normaly in CWM,so i would exclude any hardware problems ?

I cant mount anything in CWM.I tried with OTG but no luck
Making progress.I flashed the kernel (CM not Stock) from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41827619&postcount=606 together with the indian rom from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104071
The phone finally started up normaly. But,its not all done yet.The phone starts, but doesnt accept SIM card, the wifi doesnt work, camera etc. That is the CM kernel. The Stock kernel just freezes the phone on startup as all others before.
So,the CM kernel is version 3.0.80 and i should put CM9 on it,and everything will be ok ??? I dont understand why the stock kernel doesnt work at all,but the CM does :/
