My Wifi keeps getting disabled. And by disabled, I mean it shows it is ON ( I've to toggle the Wifi to switch it OFF ) but there's an exclamation mark on it.
To get it working again, I've to switch the Wifi OFF and then turn it back ON again.
Can someone help me pinpoint the underlying cause? I'm using A1EXANDER'S MIUI with the UCLE5 modem.

Can someone please help me with my S3's Wifi?
I was using the phone during Viber/Skype calls, but my wifi keeps turning it self off every 5 minutes or so. I have no idea what setting I forgot to turn it on/off.
Currently these are the settings are set on my phone:
Keep wifi on during sleep >>> Always
*#001# >>>> Wifi Power Save mode (Off)
Is there anything else I missed???
PS: I also found out other people also having similar issue as mine - - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1943352
What rom are you running? If you run something like xxalf 8, do a upgrade to xxlfb or xxLg8 version. It got a newer modem on board that should fox the issue. Also turn off in wifi settings the point, notification when free network available. Hope that helps you.

Stock Rom. By the way, what do you mean by turn off in wifi settings "the point"?? May I ask what point are you referring to?
I use a lot of internet sharing (wireless). I noticed that when I start charging battery my phone is dropping signal network after a while. When I switch the screen back on, signal comes back. it's very annoying and it doesn't happen when phone is not charging. At first I thought its rom/kernel/modem related but problem remains with different combinationsb of above.
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
Do your RIL and Baseband match?

I guess so. Usually I use modem provided with rom. It looks like phone was going to deep deep sleep that it even loses network service and it wakes up when screen turns on. But as I said it happenes only when charging and, I think, only when I use internet sharing.
edit:
just checked with getril app and it says unknown ril so cant really tell if they match. I've put a NEAT rom 3.5 just today and didn't have chance to check wheather it still there or not but i guess it will still be there.
Your RIL and modem can change. The modem is up to the rom maker, they decide which one to use wheras your RIL stays the same from what you had on stock rom, unless you changed it of course

First of all, sorry for asking the same question twice (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489237), but this thread seems to describe my problem even better.
I am using the latest Cyanogenmod 10 nightly on my Galaxy i9100, and it appears as if I have a similar problem. When I start charging my battery, the signal usually drops after a while. This is quite annoying, because I use my phone as WLAN hotspot. Rebooting the phone (charger connected) does not solve the problem. Instead, I usually have to unplug the cable and after that the phone quickly picks up a signal again.. I also tried to switch the airplane mode on/off. But then I cannot switch the airplane mode off again, so something really seems to be hanging. In these situations, the baseband version shows 'unknown'.
I have just used the app GetRil to confirm that the Ril and baseband version are matching.
Has anybody solved this problem? Is this a hardware or software issue? Are there any things I could test or should I provide more information?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Guys' though I've never experienced this issue with wi-fi hotspot, I do know why the wifi turns off when your phone is charging.
So to settings > wifi> press menu button> choose advanced
you'll see an option what says "keep wifi on during sleep" or something of sorts. The default is set to "never". You guys need to change it to "always".
Cheers

Sorry for the confusion, but I think you got me wrong. It is not the WLAN connection that drops. It is the mobile network connection that drops, so I cannot make/receive calls or use the 3G connection anymore.
Update:
Didn't find solution, flashed back sammy stock rom with custom kernel and all problems vanished. Using stock rom since than and never had this problem again.

Just for the records: I could also solve this issue by flashing a stock rom again. This must be a problem of Cyanogenmod.

I had this problem too and all I had to do was turn off fast charging in the settings
I think it turns off or lowers the strength of the network so it could charge faster and that's why it does this
I don't know much about tech so it might only help with my phone ( which is the Samsung a12 ) but I also hope it helps you too
Good luck
Hi! I have a problem with my phone. Sometimes wifi connection worksperfectly, but sometimes it doesn't even turn on! It shows me the wifi icon all grey or blue without the "down arrow" that shows if your phone is sending data. I don't know what is the cause of this problem because sometimes works sometimes not. I tried to reeboot and it works but after a while the problem represents.
I give you a screenshot of my model
I'm using the latest 2013-03 rom and I'm also experiencing crashes in wifi module. Tried wifi fixer with no success.

Can you tell how are you able to use it? How can I update my phone too?
I've only owned my Omate Truesmart for one day and the WiFi decided to give it up. I turned the wifi off once today and as soon as I tried to turn the WiFi back on it would not work. Whenever I touch the button to activate WiFi it lights up blue for a second and it then stops. Tried it several times today and nothing different. When I try to get into the wifi settings from the "Wireless & Networks" I'm greeted by a blank screen too.
So far I'm considering if it's a software issue I might try to return it to the stock firmware with this guide. However I'm waiting until I get some input from other people. I don't have cellular data access because I don't have a sim card in it. Any help is appreciated.
So what not stock firmware are you running? BTW both BT and wifi hang on stock firmware. You need to disable quickboot and reboot.
Question. What is wrong with my flashing guide so I can fix it.
Oh nothing wrong with the guide. I haven't used it yet. I'm on the stock firmware. How do I disable the quickboot?
Settings/System/Accessability, it;s the last option.

I got my Omate today and am having trouble with Wifi. If I turn wifi on it crashes the phone and cuaes it to completely power off. It will run for as long as I like with airplane mode on and will not crash if I turn bluetooth on. I found this suggestion and turned quickboot off and rebooted. Still the same behavior with wifi. Has anyone else reported this? Any suggestions?
I'm running firmware 20140120
I have a weak wifi signal on my Omate. Unless I'm right next to the router I can't pick up a wifi signal with the watch. Is there anything that I can do about this?
Sounds like the wifi antenna connector came lose. Contact Omate and get it replaced. The only other option is to disassemble it and reseat the connector.
Hey guys, I've had this problem ever since android 4.3, had it on 4.4.2, and after trying liquidsmooth's 4.4.4, the problem still exists. Wifi keeps dropping to LTE, and if I try to toggle wifi back on, the toggle switch "hangs" for a moment on the "on" switch while greyed out, and then automatically switches back to the "off" switch. Only after some time passes, sometimes taking several days, does the wifi randomly switch back on. Does anybody else have had to deal with this problem? And how were you able to resolve it? Thanks in advance

Hmm sounds like a Rom problem. Does anyone else installing Liquid Smooth have that issue? You should post in the Rom's thread and ask..If so you know your answer..
Another thing you can try is swapping some system files.. Post back here if no one else has the issue..

Sounds like you haven't flashed the MJ9 firmware. It can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578458

Thanks guys I went back to 4.1.2 and reflashed my way up through 4.3 to 4.4.2 to cm11. Hopefully this will clear up my Wi-Fi issue, will report back if the toggling issue persists

*never mind, wifi dropped within an hour of installing cm11 4.4.4. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
- to Acez71: I flashed MJ9 firmware, still no go
- to lacoursiere18: The problem still exists on CM11, I'm beginning to think the problem isn't ROM specific
Update: it seems my issue was hardware related, specifically the two gold contacts inside the cover and the two points on the back of the phone weren't making good contact. After cleaning the points and securing the cover firmly my WiFi issues seem to have disappeared for now. So if any of you are having similar issues, make sure to check the WiFi antenna contacts on the back of the phone
