[Q] [HELP] Unable to sycn contacts from local to gmail - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi all
Im on a Neo running Ice Cream Pureness v13 and I got quite a strange issue: I can sync contacts FROM gmail account to my phone, buts I cannot do vice verse.
I did following action to test:
- When 1st time initializing, I can sync contacts from gmail to my phone as normal
- I create a new contacts in my phone and sync to gmail: fail! Got an error notice that "Sync is currently experiencing problems..."
- I create a new contact or modify/delete an existing contact in gmail WITH MY PC then sync with my phone: Can do, but sometimes have to press the sync button several times
- I delete or modify an existing contact in my phone and sync to gmail: OK but may have to press Sync several times
Anyone can help to solve this stupid issue? Not sure this is because of my some stupid actions, the ROM error or the Google server fault
Thanks all for the help you may give
My system: Unlocked Xperia Neo - Ice Cream Pureness v13 - Kernel Alliance 1.5 - Baseband 72. I didn't remove any app from the ROM. Some apps that I install and I guess they may affect to sync and contact are: DropSync, GoSMS

Well I guess this is not happening so frequent too so very hard to seek for support
I did reflash my phone and the problem happen exactly the same with Ice Cream Pureness while I have no issue with stock ICS or GB.
I tried with Ultimate HD and this works well, no issue with sync. But sadly, Ultimate HD hates PowerAmp so I have to ignore it
Except for the sync issue, ICP is the perfect ROM I want

Sync of contacts with gmail fails.

I get an error when I try to sync my contacts with google sync. I had the problem on the original firmware, and it still persists after I rooted it (running rooted 024 atm). The error I get when I try to sync contacts are:
"The process android.process.acore as stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Anyone have a solution for me?
Did you remove timescape? or Im guessing something else within the settings that ya really shouldnt have?!
Sent from my rooted x10i using swype via xda!!
I've not removed timescape, and as I stated this is a problem I had before I rooted the phone also.
Anyway, I found a fix :
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f12/contact-and-calendar-sync-questions-26471/
does anyone have problem with their google sync after update to 2.1??? It seems like my google account doesnt sync with my x10....
Did you disable autosych? Looks like background data is not enough for gmail anymore. There is a new check in settings.
just found the solution on this...it is not x10 problem. It is android 2.1 issue.
So, what is the solution, then?
This is really strange.
My data does sync, but somehow I get a "synchronization problem" for both google contacts & for my FB account (via the official fb for android).

E-mail client (Exchange) connection error since ICS?

So my problem is simple.
When I upgraded to latest official ICS ROM (I had to use Odin) I have this connection error in the stock e-mail client.
I'm using an Exchange 2010 server, I've removed account, and added it again, it did sync and retrieve new e-mail for about an hour, but suddenly it stopped working. It keeps coming back with the connection error...
Can any-one please help me?

By clearing data you mean removing the exchange account right?

Ok,
It's already done syncing... yesterday (when the trouble started) it synced very slowly.. Let's see if it stays like this now...
hi,
have the same problem.
tried what you suggested, it ectually cleared the account and i had to re-enter and reset it up.
did not work, it synced some emails and then stopped with connection error
i use exchange 2003, samsung galaxy s2 ics 4.0.3
any suggestions ?
thank you
addition:
--------
bow, after a few hours it did sync, VERY slow and when reading the mail the sync back to mark as read either not done or will also take hours...
where is the problem ?
i can avoid thinking of going back to 2.3.6 as this version really sucks.. it has so many problems.
same here
Hello,
Same problem here, on Android 2.3.3 no exchange sync problem, after update ti 4.0.3 connection error ...
Samsung Galaxy S II (Black) - Android 4.0.3
So I haven't had any problems since my last post until now :S
About an hour ago it synced an SMS messages over 3G, when I came home, I received an e-mail on my Outlook client and tablet at the same time, so I kept looking to my Galaxy.... nothing!
It's not my exchange server (2010 SP2), everything, including my tablet on android 4.03 using the ASUS client work perfectly fine...
Using POP3 or IMAP is not an option, even not as a temp workaround... I really need the activesync :S
it's a "known" defect affecting some Exchange accounts (f.e. google mail's ActiveSync): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545986
there are some people that claim they could get it to work by changing some settings, but that only helps for some exchange servers. the ASOP 4.0.4 exchange service & mail client seems to work tho.

The last post on page 10 of that topic seems like a working solution... To bad i don't have the time to root my phone and try it atm...
So replacing the e-mail and exchange apk's made it even worse for me... now I can't even start the mail app anymore
Issues with Exchange and other syncing with ICS
After reading lots of post and trying to resolve issues I believe I have resolved my issues using pop & Exchange accounts.
Try the following:
1. Edit every email account to the lowest retrevial size for emails.
and leave whatever email accounts you have setup as is.
2. Turn your phone off, do not restart.
3. Hold down the home button and press the power on button, keeping the button held down until you are at the full menu screen or pin code for your sim.
4. The if phone doesnt refresh, go to email settings and refresh each individual email account. Mine did automatically.
Hope this helps all the poor suckers out there that have spent hours on their phone trying to resolve issues rather than being the guinea pigs Samsung has made of us!
Good luck & god bless.
Liz
This doesn't work either...
Samsung has to fix this very soon... Some people try to use this thing for business, and the exchange feature is one of the most important features imo... I have to have a fix soon becaus this is soo ... annoying
I guess I have a good temporary fix, by setting the retrieval size to headers only it seems to work fine....
I am having same problem on galaxy s2. Recently upgraded to 4.0.3.
It syncs sometimes with exchange 2010 but most of the times it gives error as
'Connection error '. I have tried everything that you guys suggested. Nothing seems to work.
please help!!
Hope it help to solve
Changing the maximum email size to '100KB' from 'All' also solved my problem.
It Solves the problem for some time. When I reduced to size to Minimum, it worked for 3-4 days just fine. Altough 'Connection Error' Again started coming.
It stayed like that for couple of more days and exchange started working again.
Just to make it clear, our exchange is working fine since all others are getting updates.
Really strange!!!
Email client started working
Hi guys.
I updated to 4.0.4 on my skyrocket yesterday and faced this issue till today morning. Just while being in the email app.. go to the settings of FONT. It has not been selected and hence we do not see our mails.
Select any size.. and voila the mail appears.

sync contacts

Hello
Since so time ago I'm not being able to sync my contacts with my google account.
I'm using the CM9, allways last update.
It allways give me erro that sync is with problems, that it will be return another time.
is this CM9 problem or google problem? Any one know how to solve this?
all the other items sync without problems.
I do not know what it is.
I was never able to sync browser neither on GB nor on ICS.
I used many many firmwares based on stock on GB/ICS and AOSP and AOKP on ICS but it never synced the browser. Always said that I should try again later.
when i try to make my S2 sync contacts from my google account, it allways give me a erro.
sorry, but when you are in contact, you go to Menu> Contacts to display?

Car bluetooth contacts (no phonebook)

My 2011 Infiniti G37x had NO problems with my I777 phone using bluetooth on either the factory GB or ICS.
I just rooted my phone and now using Siyah 3.5.1 Kernel and Serendipity 9.4 ROM. Love this rom.
My bluetooth works fine in the car, but the contacts are not moving over. I tried deleting the phone from the car and re-adding it. After pairing the phone to the car, it asks permission for the contacts, which I check "don't ask me again" and "allow". Nothing happens. I check the car and no phonebook entries exist.
I can still use bluetooth to make and receive calls, but no address book exists. Any idea? Is this the kernel or rom issue???
I wonder if it has something to do with the custom ROM's phone.apk, or whatever it would be, not being recognized. Is there a way you can grab the stock phone and try having that as well?
Just thinking out loud until the experts show up.

I have no idea. I only found a few threads about this and some stated that it was ICS specific, even on factory non rooted phones.
I didn't have the problem though before I rooted my phone on ICS 4.0.3.
I may try to go and upgrade to JB this weekend to see if that fixes the problem.
Since I'm still a noob at all this I'm a little hesitant to keep flashing kernels and roms. Last night I tried going back to the ROMs factory Cherrypicker kernel and that messed up my phone even more. Don't know why it did that. It didn't work on the Cherrypicker kernel either.
Just wanted to ask if you are using the native Contacts database? I'm running SHOstock2 v4.1.1 with Syhah 3.5.1. I use a third party contacts/calendar app (DejaOffice) to sync with Outlook. Sometime is the third party contacts DB does not update the native contacts DB my Ford Sync won't display addresses.
Sorry I should have specified that info:
Running only GMail app for email using the native contacts (people icon) on the phone. Gmail is syncing my contacts.
Outlook is NOT installed on my phone.
I was using the exact same gmail and contacts before and my phone did work on ATT non-rooted stock GB and ICS 4.0.3.
Well I decided to go ahead and install JellyBean AOKB 8.28.2012 and Contacts are now coming over to my car via bluetooth.
Hurray!!!

ICS sync

Im using ICS with Ice Cream Pureness rom, with the recomended kernel, but dont know if this problem is related to the rom.
I have a problem with syncs, my sync sems to randomly be im mood to sync.
First day i used the rom it synced everything perfectly, but some days after it started to not sync anymore =/
i have to ask to gmail to sync, then it gets my mails, also facebook syncs if i open the app the new messages are there, but they dont show as notifications anymore.
