I think this tool is fantastic and suit for somebody who got a new iPhone device or gonna buy one. If you don’t already use one of these applications to manage your contacts, now is a great time to start.
A devotee of digital device, in the past three years, I was using the Windows Mobile device such as Samsung Omnia i910, HTC Diamond, HTC HD2 and so on, it was too hard for me to change my mobile device cause of the transferring of contacts.
Actually, I did it, I finally bought a long-awaited iPhone because that one of my friends told me this contacts application---GodswMobile Contacts transfer.
A terrible prospect for many, transferring contacts by hand to the iPhone is nonetheless effective; but now GodswMobile Contacts Transfer makes me not to transfer contacts manually any longer.
Just wanted to know, if there's any chance we can get a hand on a WP7 build/rom for our phones in future...
Given that samsung is going to release a virtually identical phone with WP7 on it....would be good to have this phone running both the OSs...
(might be a bit of hangover from my HD2 days)
Any comments welcome( please dont make it into a fanboy slugfest)

Probably not. WP7 is closed source and porting it would be nightmare to any dev. I've seen many posts like this all over these forums and they all said the same thing. Kind of like trying to port iOS to other devices. It would infringe on patents etc.

Yes but that's completely different.

Why would you want to replace android by wp7? (no fanboyism, just an honest question)

Some people like me, get bored of Android. If I could flash WP7, I would have done so in a heartbeat.

I would love to have iOS on GSII but not WP7.
Anyway I don't think it's possible too.
@OP- Just use Launcher 7, least you'll have some 7 like stuff in your device

If you look at the earliest prototype versions of WP7, it was run on the HD2. So all the drivers had been developed. It still required an awful lot of development to convert the finished HD7 to run on the HD2.

Drivers for the SoC? Graphics drivers for Mali?
The HD2 runs on a very common SoC that a lot of WP7 handsets used, as it was one of the few certified for the OS at the time.
If we get a WP7 phone that uses Exynos and if the drivers are compatible MAYBE.

But if samsung release a wp7 phone wich is practical the same as sgs2 hardware wise.. So drivers would already be there for mali etc?

Genuine query:
If you want to run W7 on your phone, why did you buy an android phone in the first place? If you have a hangover from previous days, why didnt you buy another W7 phone with updated features (compared to your previous one)?
Its the same with people wanting iOS on the SGSII...why not buy an iphone?
I never did understand spending £500+ on this android phone and then asking to change the OS (when you knew it came with android anyway)
Not flaming, just trying to understand why people ask these questions...

The reason why
Hi guys,
when there will be chance to switch to WM 7.5 from Android, I'll maybe do it and here is why:
I won't buy any new mobile for it's full price, as they are very often overpriced in my country. I made an operator change and I've bought SGS II on a contract for about 120 dollars (who won't buy it then? :-> ). First few weeks I was really amazed about Android, but now I feel it has the same issues as Linux.
Like it or not, I live and work in the World called Microsoft (outlook, excel, word) and cannot switch it for something else. Sadly Android doesn't support them and I think MS wouldn't port those aps since they have their own mobile OS.
In WM all those app are natively inside the system and you get storage in MS cloud. Sync mails, tasks with outlook is way much easier than on Android. So for people like me is Android fine, but missing really important features....

You need to take into consideration that it's Windows Phone 7, not Windows Mobile. It's a brand new OS that's not even been around for a year yet, unlike the old Windows Mobile that has been around for years.
Apps-wise, Windows Phone just doesn't cut it yet, and is playing a slow game of catch-up with the likes of iOS and Android.
I hear what you're saying about WM, but WP does not have that amount of support, yet.

I am fairly certain that there is an android (and btw, a linux) alternative which supports Microsoft Office formats. Outlook is just email, no problem there. for Excel and Word, Polaris Office does the job just fine.

I meant Windows Phone 7. I'm reading a blog from one guy about WM 7.5 development and it seems that Mail and Office will be better in this OS. Everything is synced without third-party apps, you have skydrive and etc...

For sure they are, but most of them didn't work well. So sometimes they didn't calculate properly or save the file such, that Microsoft Office can't reopen them. I think this is mainly MS fault, but for me is this the reason, why I will prefer native support...
Just to understand my job: I work with relatively big tables, lots of macros and sources on local network.
Can I installed Anroid on Nokia Lumia 800???? as windows 7 donot have nothing good in it....and the only connectivity tool is Zune :S which is useless
I cannot copy my messages from my lumia 800 to my pc, i cannot installed anything in it through my pc... guys please help!!!!!!!!
Zune is useless? Works for me.
Sure your not just trolling? hmm?
Maybe next time you should inform yourself before buying a smartphone.
And no there is no Android for the Lumia 800, and even if there were it would
be slow as hell Android is to power hungry for the Lumia 800.
If you really want a Android phone sell your Lumia 800 and buy an Android phone
there are enough options.
You could have used the search. Or your scrollwheel. It's currently not possible to install Android on the Lumias. But since we recently discovered that some Lumia 800s have been shipped with unlocked Bootloaders it might be possible to port Android to our devices. But I don't think this will happen in the next few weeks...

why would u put android on a lumia thats stupid !
if u want android buy a android phone the w7 operating system is so sexy why any 1 want to is stupid.
Go away, troll.
I don´t think he is a troll
because he is not alone. There are a lot of people who ask the same thing.
And android would not be slow on the lumia because it worked good on the HD2 and the lumia 800 has a bether hardware.
Android is not bad for people who like to tinker.
WP7 ist good for guys who just want to phone but if I buy a Smartphone i want to use its full potential.
The only reason for me to buy the Lumia 800 is its Design!
(reason enough to buy it )
And please don´t tell anyone WP7 has no disadvantages.
Maybe WP8 will make me happy but its not even shure if we will get it!
And think about that, this is the Lumia 800 thread and not the WP thread, so don´t call anyone troll without reason!!!
I am very optimistic to see android on my lumia next year.
I share his view.
I used an android phone but it died and tried window phone.
The stuff I like:
Messaging is very fast and smooth with no delay.
Battery life is really long and can last up to about 2 days on standby.
The stuff I miss that android have are:
No swype
Cannot stream movie online with the whole adobe flash
Can only open jpeg picture. Cannot even open png, gif, etc which is a disappointment.
Video file need to be the right format to play.
Cannot access LAN share folder of PC in the house.
Web browser crashing when viewing animated gif file or even long image strip.
Direct connection to PC and copy and paste with mem. card.
Music player, you can tap where you want it to play while WM have to hold down the forward button.
Not in a situation where I can freely change phone either. Oh well :|
It's like trying to put IOS on android, makes no sense, the next time you want android, buy a cell phone with native android.

it's not even remotely the same thing, android is actually portable to lumia, because all the source code is available, also the n9 allready runs android and it shares same display panel as lumia, and some of the samsung android phones have same cpu, so lot of work is allready done.
It's just matter that someone starts to port android to lumia, i would love that because android is way much better os than wp7, the reason i got lumia is just like someone said the really nice design.

Re-read the original post. Plenty of reason to call troll.
Although much of the with has been "done" for the phone, the main problem that remains is the bootloader. Without access to it, the bootloader will prevent any modification to the phone. I would personally like to see Android as well because I have a 710 to try out wp7. I am not finding wp7 sufficient for my needs which is sad since I only use my phone for email and productivity.

I hope no one is ever able to run Android on these devices. Tired of people asking.
Anyone who says "Android is better than WP7" has no idea what they are talking about.
WP7 might be more limited in what it can do but the user experience is a million times better and it performs much better.
With Android you end up buying a phone based on specs. With WP7 and iOS you buy the phone for what it will actually do for you, specs are fairly irrelevant.

usually before you buy a phone, a car, a tv, etc you inform yourself about it
there were numerous reports about Windows Phones disadvantages, i can`t understand how you missed them
i dont have anyting of value to add, but i LOVE the Lumia designs but also love my android. wp7 is slick and good but a bit limited it seems, to me at least.
I dont fully understand the tech side tho i have flashed a few roms, but if a dead(bricked) phone can be rejuvenated with android how can it not be ported or flashed on to the lumia.
I know its the bootloader, but i am curious as to how with all the geniuses on here and many other forums and sites how this is not bypassable?
I respectfully request a small explanation.
Just Buy Nokia N9 with MeeGo. This same design as Lumia 800, and Linux on the board.
Mayby instaling Android could be possible, but it does not have any sense.
I have android 4.1 installed on my Nokia N9.
But there's not really any sense, it just looks very nice when you have dual boot on a mobile phone
i have read you can flash and dual boot android on the n9 but its not like you can just go buy one. i have never seen one around here or on sale at all. I dont think they were ever offered in canada and i have seen that they cost 600 dollars or more to buy outright without a contract.
i guess i am outta luck.
I am so displeased with MS. It seems they hide behind all the apps by saying they are beta. WP7.5 was frustrating enough with lack of skype for a year even after they bought it. Between skype and the miserable version of pdf they created one could only wonder how serious they actually are. It would be nice to have an android app so we could have apps that work. Seriously MS stop hiring sweat shop kids to develop your apps and invest in some proper programmers. I don't want a repeat of WP7.5
Yeah, the past couple of days I have seriously considered going back to Android. WP8 is missing some pretty key features that I could ignore if there were apps to fill the holes, there are none... No wifi sync? Unable to "delete" music from Xbox music, even though it's no longer on my device(I used to have Music Pass and the music I downloaded still shows up)? Media volume and Ringtone volume are shared? that seems like a no brainer. The camera, while the overall picture quality is good, I find the colors to be very inaccurate(not WP8, but still a gripe). A lot of my "live tile" apps do not update anymore, maybe the app devs fault? The desktop sync program is almost useless, why can't Zune be used?
So, I am probably gonna try and trade my 920 for an Android... I miss my Nexus

Honestly, I have bought my wife a chinese phone called Oppo. It was slick phone and light, 6mm thick running Android 4.3. I didn't mind android but I perferred the enviroment of 7.5, much cleaner and simpilar. I did not start this poste to talk about Android or Iphone though, I bought a 920 hoping that WP8 was an improvement. But some key apps i use on regular basis created by MS are junk. The point is, if the apps are so much better on other platforms why can't MS do it on theirs especally Skype, come on! I just hope this post opens eyes of MS to begin to deliver a better experience now not in 1 year. On good note, I do give them the respect of Bing Translater the camera feature comes in handy, and people are amazed when i show them.

To schettj's reply, I am hopping that your optimism is true. I would be closer to doing laundry at my hotel then developing a version of PDF that works. That's what I shelled out 600 bucks for.
I was hoping to use skydrive to sync my photos taken on device to pc, without having to plug it in.

Mine are auto-uploaded with the same size and quality (best quallity) in skydrive like when sync with PC, but this is option requires WIFI connection.

Hi I returned my lumia, it was freezing up & giving me black screens & proved a bit of a bother to switch on and off. It was brand new as well, the battery was a killer too. was 100% at 10:30am, by 2pm it was out & I had only taken a few photos & it was in pocket rest of day.
I did have it set to best quality wifi & had updated to amber but it was only saving really low res photos to my skydrive.
I really wanted to keep it but a brand new phone having problems like that after 1 day isn't too good. I haven't had much luck with my phone recently so I have bought a cheaper HTC ONE X, hope that goes well.
