Hello I'm from Spain and I want to ask if anyone knows what happens with samsung galaxy s2 i9100p? Many Vodafone customers have problems with this phone, it turns itself off and have removed the battery to start .Thanks.
I'm in the UK on Vodafone using the i9100p model. Never had the problem you mention.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
All models purchased since September with ICS 4.0.3 black screen sometimes freezes and no longer responds to commands without removing the battery. Stops but not actually answer. Not yet known if there is a problem software or hardware and many speak it may be a hardware error.I do not know what to say.In England you heard of it?
Cant speak for everyone but..
Had mine for over a year. Have run gingerbread, ICS and jelly bean based stock and custom ROMs - no issue at all.

Ok,thanks!

No because still learning about my new device I came from S5830 threads, but there are some diferences... What about 4.1.2.? only exist TIM's branded official rom for I9100P currently
4.0.3 XXLPP from Vodafone Spain, my phone is still locked at the moment, there is a 4.0.4. Vodafone's Spain rom but not exist a safe kernel as PhilZ to this rom so I don't want to update because I use NFC with my friends

Try updating to JB and see.
If it still persists, it could be a hardware issue.

Both I9100 and I9100P have identical hardwares except for the NFC Chip. So, it should be safe to flash an I9100 rom. But you will lose NFC capability. To restore NFC, you will have to flash a patch.
The yellow triangle appears when you flash custom kernels or roms via Odin. It disappears when you flash stock roms.

And, flashing original firmwares increase flash's counter?
About JB and ICS, how much ram normally JB used? and how about battery duration?

Flashing original firmware for ur device doesn't increase the binary counter.
Free RAM and battery usage depends on the ROM configuration and the apps installed. I get a full day on moderate usage, while heavy use reduces it to around 7 hrs.. And I usually have 550-650MB RAM usage.

In a way, you could say JB sucks. But I wouldn't blame it, because JB has additional features that require more RAM.

I've a I9100 updated via Kies to Jelly Bean. I tried to root it but I used a wrong version, a one for the I9000G.
It worked for a while, but now it reboot for ever!!!
I downloaded the official Firmware from SamMobile and flash it (as PDA) by ODIN, but I didn't recovered, It bootloops again!
How can I solve this problem?
Is there a way to download the flash image (I didn't any backup prior to root ).
Thank you very much!

Now I've got only a problem : the updates via Kies are no more available. Why? The firmware is a stock firmware!

I've had the pleasure of owning a Samsung smartphone since October 2010. With that, please trust me when I say this: Kies is rubbish! The amount of stuff this program installs into your PC to do what's easily done by connecting via Mass Storage mode? Nuts! The amount of time it spends trawling the net and using up vital battery power while it runs in background on your phone? Insane! The best way to have a i9100 (or any other Android device) running is with a custom ROM - that way you can at least remove any app or 'bloatware' you don't want before you bring the phone to life.
My advice? In short: totally clean out and factory reset your phone, flash the stock i9100 SamMobiles JB release using Odin, root your phone, choose a custom ROM that you like the look of, flash it in and then discover the brilliance of the i9100 that lies beneath the stock standard offering...

Yes, install a Samsung-based custom ROM.
As for a reason why you have to keep your phone with Original software, is it a phone supplied by your employer? If so, then it's Yours to do as you please with, because use of the device is part of your salary package. Other than that, all which is altered by installing a custom ROM can be restored, simply by doing a nandroid backup of the original firmware before installing the new ROM...

so i've decided to downgrade back to ics as im getting kinda bored with jelly bean. can i safely flash stock ics firmware via mobil odin? as i cant use usb connection as my pc wont detect my device. also i saw in a thread something about a brick problem with 4.0.4. what is all that about and can i flash stock Australia XSA I9100XWLPW ics 4.0.4 from Mobile Odin safely or will i need to flash 4.0.3 and upgrade ota?
Fix your usb problem first. If you dont theres a chance you could be in trouble.
You can flash firmwares directly using Mobile Odin. And brickbug affects stock 4.0.4 firmware with stock kernels.

i have flashed other firmware via mobile odin, was just curious if there was anything i should know about downgrading. also i had a bit of a look but im not sure i understand what it means by brickbug affecting 4.0.4 roms and stock kernels. does that mean it wont work at all with stock 4.0.4 kernel? and do i need to do something extra to use 4.0.4?

Downgrading/upgrading is no different when ur flashing a firmware via Odin/Mobile Odin. And like theunderling said, a working computer connection might save u one day...
As for Brickbug, there are many threads here that will help u out..

ok so after some reading what i understand is that the brickbug only comes about if i wipe with CWM on stock 4.0.4 with stock kernel?
therefore if i have a custom kernel like siyah or use stock recovery to wipe everything should be fine?

Good work!
Brickbug occurs when u wipe with CWM while on a stock kernel on 4.0.4. If u flash a custom 'safe' kernel, no more risk of bricking even if u wipe.

Hi, I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) to Jelly Bean (4.1.2). I have been using the new OS version for a while now and don't like some of the changes that Samsung have implemented. So I was wondering if there is a way of downgrading the OS back to ICS 4.0.4 (the latest official release). Is there a way to select a custom version in Kies and simply update that way? Or am I stuck with Jelly Bean and will just have to adjust to the changes

Hi all,
Anyone having this Wifi speed problem on SGS2 i9100G with Stock Jelly bean 4.1.2?
i download the firmware from Sammobile and flashed to my phone via odin. I did wipe out data before flashing.
This is my phone version
PDA: I9100GXXLSR
Phone: I9100GXXLSP
CSC : I9100GATOLS1
I tested with my phone Speedtest apps Download speed :20kbps
I tried with my friends SGS2 on ICS and getting : 700kbps +
Both tested with the same WIFI network and one to one connection.
Any fix or guide to solve this??
thanks~
Change/Update ur firmware.
Seems like there is a problem in kernel with wife driver.
And I won't think that it's always like this on Jellybean, because it's first time I heard about this.
So maybe a firmware fold or a bad flash.
Much success

You can flash kernel alone, instead of flashing the entire rom.
Might work.. might not..
Be careful what u flash. Only flash stuff meant for I9100G.

Thanks for the heads up. :good:
I will try it tomorrow and see how it goes.
Hello folks, this is my first post Hope to have a solution for my M250S converted to Galaxy S2 which I'm having a problem with.
I'll get to the point straight.
The problem that I'm with S2 is that I'm not able to use mobile data. Even though I've enabled mobile data from settings, No mobile data icon is shown in status bar. I've set up APN settings correctly as well. Did try with different network SIM with correct APN settings. But no luck. I'm talking about either EDGE, HSPA or 3G icon in the status bar (like in attachment below).
But internet via WiFi works fine. Tried flashing a new stock ROM, custom ROM, wiping out cache, factory resetting and turning on "WCDMA only" as well :crying:
Could this be a hardware fault? Or firmware issue (like csc or modem)?
Note : On the first day I purchased the phone, mobile data worked (and it was already converted to i9100). But backside of the phone near camera got overheated. Then I turned mobile data off and switched to wifi. Afterwards I can't remember that I could use mobile data.

So you can make calls and no data. Just try a restore of your efs. Its a very bad file that can be curupted so easy. Most will have no call but data. See were im coming from on this. Worth a try.

I heard in some countries, even the generic Samsung IMEI may work for calls or Internet!
@OP: have u verified that ur IMEI number is correct and the same as that below ur battery? (Do not post the IMEI here)

Thanks man. Flashed i9100 4.0.4 ICS stock ROM and it works :good: I think it's a problem with 4.1.2 JB stock ROM and 4.1.2 based custom ROMs
Wonder why it's only my M250S which has faced this problem

It's very insecure I suppose not to print IMEI under the battery.

Doing that right away
Problem solved in JB ROM as well. You need to have at least two APNs in order to get mobile data working
