Are you using rom manager? If you are then stop. Make sure you wipe system, boot, and caches before flashing the rom. Download and use 4ext recovery instead of cwm. Its much better and don't use rom manager.

Use the wipe all except SD card option before flashing roms. It wipes all the necessary things for you with that option.

I would say try ext 4, but I really don't want you wiping the SD out because that could suck if your SD contains things you don't want to use.
Wait for disconnecktie to reply. He knows more about it. I guess this makes my reply pointless. Haha. Oh well.

Go into the wipe format menu and select the option St the bottom wipe all partitions except SD card and that is all you need to do before flashing

I dont remember what version of sense that rom is but to save battery you could try undervolting. Someone with more knowledge of skyraider should assist you there though. I personally have never ran skyraider on the thunderbolt.

I had great battery life with Skyraider 1.3 with the stock settings, definitely better than the stock ROM. It was better with the .9 radios vs the .19 radios - you could try a radio swap.
Did you make any other changes? New apps/sync settings etc?

So if im coming from GingerBlur V4.5, how exactly would i do this? Would i open this up and click "Flash CWM recovery" and go from there? Im just curious if this will wipe my phone and reinstall Gingerblur (if i choose), or just another ROM i have stored, or do you have to get the ROMs from the app?
And are all ROMs compatible? Or do they have to be compatible w/ this version of CWM? Sorry for the newb questions...

I think the CWM it installs is for unlocked phones only. So you'd have to unlock your phone first, I believe, in order to flash ROM Manager's CWM.
As for installing all ROMs, it's CWM. So it should be able to install anything. After all, the ROMs are really just pre-boot install scripts, for the most part. The free version of ROM manager has the option to install zips from the internal SD only (as per comments in this thread). It also lists a subset of ROMs, but it looks like it throws an error right now.
cant fastboot flash recovery partition after Rom mngr recovery install
tried to flash back to tenfars recovery after flashing cwm thru rom manager..failed. should i reflash pudding and then try..? or...?
If you install recovery through ROM Manager, the full wipe option does not actually wipe anything. You can still do a wipe by utilizing the -w command via moto-fastboot then install via recovery.

It may delete what you have on the internal memory but won't touch the ext sd card. I've reverted back and forth between ICS and GB using CWM about 6 times now with no problems.

I installed Liquid's ICS MECHA MR2.6 Beta1x zip file just to test it out but ultimately didn't like it, so I looked to restore my BAMF MECHA ICS 08212012 backup and recieved an error that that the MD5 did not match so I instead tried to reinstall the BAMF MECHA ICS zip but now am in a bootloop and wont go passed the lock screen before it reboots! I am a novice at this and am still learning but I think it may be an issue with the radios matching?

Definitely ALWAYS make sure that you clear data.
This is why I clear data 3x, just to make sure it all gets out, clear cache, and dalvik of course.
You can clear as much as you want. It's never going to hurt anything.
You should be fine afterwards to then restore your backup.

Good, glad it worked.
I didn't think the Revolution recovery would have a superwipe option.
You should download 4ext or clockworkmod recovery to take place of Revolutionary recovery. They work much better. I personally use clockworkmod recovery, but hear awesome reviews about 4ext.
By all means you can keep using the Revolutionary recovery. Just always be sure to wipe data 3x, cache 1x, and then dalvik 1x when changing between ROMs... and that goes for any recovery you might change to.
Usually clearing the data only once doesn't get all of the old data out. Besides, you can sit and clear any of those options all day and it won't hurt a thing.

Glad u got it working. In the future just do a factory data reset from recovery. It should stop the boot loop. To get to it. Pull the battery out to shut the intended phone off. When powering on, hold down volume down. It will boot into boot loader. From there you can select recovery. Hope this helps for future reference.

and i read a post about cwm not backing up ics because i guess there are more than 10k files. But i didnt understand how they tried fixing it. Is there an easy way? i have ics and am not sure what is happening. the device hangs at backing up system and the bar is gray with not scrolling indicator. Please help, i want to try the official ics rom debloated and other roms.
Im not sure if i need to update my cwm version.
You need to flash a different recovery. I prefer 4ext personally but twrp is free and up to date as well. There are also issues with CWM not wiping correctly and causing a lot of issues on people's phones.

The instructions should tell you where and what to change. Then use Root Explorer to browse to the file or directory and change it. Although most kernels are flashed via Odin as far as I know and am used too.
