Wifi Hangs in a "Powering Off" status - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I'm using the latest version of MeanROM (6.4) and for a while now I'll notice my Wifi is off, and when I check quick settings it's frozen in a powering off state. The only way to bring it back up is to reboot the phone. I've performed several clean installs to no avail. Anyone else see this?

Update firmware. It may still happen once in a while after that, but that minimises it. I'm still on 6.1 and latest firmware and I get that once in a while. Last time was a few weeks ago.

I have been having this same problem for a couple of weeks. I tried other roms and the problem remains. I'm not sure what to do to fix it. Are you by any chance using auto WiFi toggle app as well?
Thanks, Jack

I'm not using a toggle app either, just the quick links in the notification area. When you say update firmware, what firmware are you speaking of?

It took on mine over wifi. I never activated my 3D so I don't get 3G or 4G.
In fact the only reason I have it is because I tried to play green hornet movie and said update required so I have it even if I'm not sure I wanted it. Lol
Then I tried sprint tv app and again... UPDATE REQUIRED! I guess I won't be using that app .

Super annoying text app!

Im using stock because I love it, but all of my recieved texts are coming in from an hour later, even though my phone says current time. So when i reply, my messages aren't at the bottom. I cleared data, rebooted, no go. Anyone know how to fix?
It was working fine until i went across the border from eastern timezone to central, then the phone has ever since had this bug...!

Roaming?
I never had this issue with my OG EVO. Why would it only be doing it on this one in the exact same area I used my OG?

The only thing the OTA actually did was update a few apps... the phone doesn't reboot after finishing or anything. Doesn't change any of the radios or anything from what I noticed.
Would a factory reset fix this? I'm not roaming anymore and it's still displaying an hour later.

download "sms time fix" from the market like jaskwith said, set it to use phone time and BAM! your troubles are gone. this is an easy fix. no need for a hard reset
I recommend simply updating your Profile and PRL on your device. I had that happen to a friend and once I updated those two things for her, her problem went away.

WiFi problems

Ok I never had WiFi problems until I took the update minus hboot. I am running mean Rom with only HTC unlock is this normal?

I am also having this problem and I am stock. I wish I never took the ota cause I am also having battery life issues and getting warm problems. I did a hard reset and still having the WiFi issues, but the others I can't tell yet.

Hi this worked for me. I'm stock and experienced connection issues with my wifi...sitting 2 feet from the router!!! Never had any problems connecting anything via wifi b4.
Go to settings>>wifi>>menu>>advanced. in the advanced section there is a radio button to enable Best Wi-Fi performance. Once activated I had no more connection problems.
Hope this helps.
Not sure if this might help but I changed WiFi to 2.4 GHz and like above best WiFi per. So far good

I did this and it worked for me briefly but then reverted to "authenticating" and then telling me it is the wrong access key for the network. I don't understand why it's doing this but at least for me it seems to be a 1.22 based problem as everything I've run with the prior firmware has been fine....

Your problem is different. Mine was dropping WiFi signal and then self reconnecting. Not anymore though. Your problem I have not came across. Have u tired running the ruu and reset your router?

I've reset the router multiple time and even gave my EVO a static ip to see if that would work. I guess I'll ruu and see if that will help. It's weird though.

CM 10.1 has broken display drivers in latest nightlies?

Any time I've tried to install nightlies since they've picked back up again the display won't turn on and I have to restore from a backup. Does anyone know if there's a workaround? Is it just something with my phone?

Haven't seen any mention mention of this issue in the CM threads. Are you saying the screen won't turn on at all or that it won't respond to touch input?

It won't turn on at all. The soft keys light up and the LED blinks but the screen remains dark.

Sounds like a phone issue. Try going onto IRC and downloading one of Deck's test builds, instead of the nightly. What ROM are you currently running?
You might also try downloading the nightly again and try a clean install, in case you got a bad download.

Cm updated to the newest touch interface based off of 3.16 firmware flash that and the nightlies will work from 7.4.13 ect

I managed to finally load CM10.1(cm-10.1-20130703-NIGHTLY-jewel) with a working touchscreen driver after trying all sorts of junk with getting 10.0.0 stable release to work, which never gave me touchscreen functionality, as well as trying many other versions of CM. Even so, I ended up going back to MeanBean 3.09 due to extremely weak signal-strength on the CM10.1 ROM. I never got more than one bar of voice signal, with constant switching between 1x and 3G and 4G data, while the MeanBean consistently gives me 3+ bars voice and a consistent 4G signal when the device is in a certain location. I seem to be in a fringe area for solid 4G reception, which may well be the reason for my poor radio performance while running CM.
Cm measures signal differently then stock so a direct comparison isn't really fair
I've had this issue too. Usually after a few tries the display turns on. I believe this may have been a kernel issue. The 20130705 release has a new kernel and I haven't had the issue since installing.

(Q) wifi automatically turns on?[solved]

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I can't keep my wifi off.
Every time I turn wifi off it gets turned back on by itself.
I'm sure I'm just being a complete noob and missing something.
Stock unrooted latest update.
Was ok before update.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like Sprints "Connection Optimizer" here, I think there's a way to disable it, but I just deleted the APK from the system folder, are you rooted?

After you uncheck it, if you're rooted, use TB to freeze or uninstall so it never comes back to haunt you. I've been freezing apps until I decide if they're fully safe to delete and that I'm sure I won't want them.
Not Sprint but note 3 having the same issue
My phone is not sprint. I'm using an international version of note 3. And having the same issue. Could you please help me with that?

Connections optimizer isn't onlyfor Sprint. Fix is probably the same, but might be named differently, but similarly.
