[KERNEL][5.0]Kkernel NEED KERNEL DEV HELP - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hello,
at the begining I would like to say that my free time is limited and my progress with adding features is rather not very fast.
I wanted to make kernel that will make my device better for me, but maybe you guys will find it useful too.
My aim is to make minimallistic kernel , not over tweaked and super hiper ultra mega extreme fast kernel with thousands of "working" mods.
PLEASE (as it is WIP atm) do not ask for any ETA (when I will know when something will be done, then I will write it there for sure), no OFFTOPIC, no questions not related to my kernel, no noob questions (unexpirienced users - read faq etc), no useless posts like +1 or thank you guy.
PLEASE share your expirience, report bus, say what you would like to be included, smart questions etc.
FIrst kernels will be alpha, not because something does't work, just because it would have small amout of planned features
Planned features:-gpu&bus oc
-cpu oc
-change available frequencies
-liveoc -not stable so cpu&gpu oc will be hardcoded
-BLN
-Governors limited to 1-2
-Smartassv2 (probably)
-BFS -I have difficulties with it
-BIGMEM (more free ram)
-gpu tweaks
-update to newer kernel version?
-I CAN TRY with the camera (only try)
-sound&screen tweaks
-SIO
-touchwake -doesn't work properly, unknown reason
-update pvr540 drivers from crespo -seem to bee up-to date
-more
UPCOMING ALPHA FEATURES:
-gpu&bus speed up to 250mhz
-cpu up to 1500mhz
-371mb of free ram
-touchscreen tweadked (more sensitivity)
Some benchmarks (don't like them ...)
Nenamark v159.4 fpsabout +8fps comparing to ambrice's kernel
Antutu4205+700 (?)
To do:
-upload kernel
-give credits to all people that helped
-rearrange that topic
-Change kernel info and updatezip

CREDITS:
-stratosk for his awesome github and all the help
-morific for gpu overclock
-DerTeufer1980 for his github
-Entropy512 and ambrice for kernel base
-some other people from xda that helped me
ALPHA V 0.1
features
overclock:
cpu 86fd gpu&bus
1500mhz 86 250mhz
1000mhz 86 250mhz
800mhz 86 250mhz
371mb of ram
touchscreen tweaks (increased sensitivity)
ALPHA V 0.2
changelog
overclock:
cpu 86fd gpu&bus
1500mhz 86 250mhz
1000mhz 86 250mhz
376mb of ram
bac to stock touchscreen parameters - forgot to add
72hz insted of 60hz refresh rate (works?)
lowered voltages - should work on all 5.0 devices
KERNEL FOR US VERSION IF YOU HAVE INTL USE NOISYFOX'S PATCH - first install patch then my kernel

Please share your opinions, suggestions, feelings etc.
I highly recommend using 800mhz cpu freq for daily usage and higher frequencies only for gaming.
Updatezip is from rj's custom kernel so do not care about info during flashing

Will this be available for the us and Intl players or just one of them?

Well I have intl.
How to make version for us? Is it about config?
I can do it without any probelms I think, just have to know the difference.

I'm not sure what you need to change but you definitely need to change the key layout. Only the buttons on the front will stop working so using soft keys in the ROM might be a solution

quite possible that it is fo us device and for INTL there will be noisyfox patch needed.
Don't know atm, people will report when I will post it Or you could if you have time and us version

I think it is us keymap version, if I am right and you use european device simply use noisyfox buttons patch

With which ROM should i use this kernel?
Doesent seem to be working for me With Remics it just reboots after 15 secs.

ahh, sorry, I forgot to mention probably, it is ofc ICS kernel, so should work with any ics rom.
I use it with paranoid without any problems

The noisyfox button patch is a separate kernel too, so flashing the patch will overwrite your kernel. Also this kernel does not work with RemICS-UX, even on 1.4.0. I don't really know why, but I'm sure looking at a logcat would help. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do that at the moment so I'll be keeping the noisyfox kernel as the INTL kernel for now. Also this kernel seems to have broken my recovery partition so I can't flash anything or even restore from a backup. I don't know if this is just a problem with RemICS-UX, but if you are using RemICS-UX then this kernel does not work and it may/may not break recovery for you

well I thought it rewrites only keymapping....
So it would look like my kernel is for INTL devices because I have the intl one
I used ambrice's sources without doing anything with keymapping
thanks a lot for feedback, can anybody with paranoid test it?
Because I have flashed it again and it works

That patch is for US kernel for Int devices..so if this kernel is for Int then that patch is not needed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

seems so with the patch.
simply aplly zip via recovery like any other kenel. reported as not working on remics-weird. Works great on paranoid android.
maybe it works only with intl?
shouldn't US config be used to compile to work on US? it may differ from intl. I am confused.
It has to work with intl and paranoid. anyone can try it?

[KERNEL] Franco 3.0 By Lupohirp

Dear All,
I am sharing my observations and I am not the developer so all credit goes to Lupo and Franco.
Now interesting part:
Lupo posted Franco 3.0 kernel with following features:
1. Back-ported "Kgsl" driver
2. Franco rewritten touch screen driver
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY BLACK SCREEN BUG fixed.
Since the kernel is 2.6.35.14 it should work on any GB based ROM
So I flashed it and to my surprise everything worked flawlessly
My system settings are as follows:
ROM: Adfad666 CM 7.2 N2
CPU Overclock:480 - 710 MHz with Conservative Governor
Camera Flicker: NIL with conservative governor
Black Screen: NIL
Battery Backup: EXCELLENT (2% reduction per hour )
BLUETOOTH, WIFI, DATA: Working
USB Mass Storage: Working
Touch Screen: Smooth
Request All to try.
If LUPO permits I will attach zip file here or pls refer LUPO CM9 thread for the original kernel.
Regards,
Kanad
pls attached the file.....
Great post and observation but is this not just another similiar thread to what lupo had already mentioned in his thread...
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Yes, but that thread is @ android 4.0.3. Where as i have used that kernel on GB rom.
Ahh well good job, good to see it working...pretty much figured it would..it is backported 2.35.14

Where can i download the zip???? link pls???
Can someone provide a link to lupos post on this ? Have been reading pages n pages trying to find it out but without any luck!

I think the latest cm9 beta uses a different kernel which has something called "genlock" (all I know is that it is camera-related).
Tried this on Adfad666's CM7 version A8 (.32 kernel).
Everything was snappy and the battery life was great, but it somehow ate my orientation sensor.
Sorry guyies for not replying to the qurries since my laptop was not available so could not upload the file / link :-(
BTW thanks sweetnsour

i go back to Stock kernel for myself and wait for Beta sourcecode.
[EDIT2]
new sources and everything seems to work (i hope you like the new bootlogo )
[EDIT3]
new version with just subtle changes on bootlogo.
the smaratass2 gov seems not compatible with this kernel. if activated you become horrible lags!! so no smartass gov for now.
Great!!!!
Works fine Xperia neo 4.0.3 beta 4.1.C.0.7 bilds.

i dont know. i compiled yesterday but get horrible lags so i flashed stockkernel and tought by my self "lets wait for the 4.1.C.0.7 sources".
today i read that doomlord made a kernel for arc and has this lags too but he wrote its fixable by disable those animations.
so i gave my kernel a second try and he was right without animations it works
Boot for neo with battery 0% patch will be nice

Not yet. But i can make overclocked kernel later. But i think 1ghz dual-core is enough for ics.
I think that greater number governors and schedulers are more important than overclocking, you're 100% right with speed for ICS and even JB.

Qualcomm S4 Play is made for speed 1-1.2GHz, and that's the safe range of frequencies. Remember that this is ARM-cortex A5 not Krait, and more than 1.2 can really harm it.

I know ramdisk, but let me rephrase my question, what exactly (in ramdisk) needs to be modified and how, to make it work on jb. Anyways, i'm still figuring things out by trial n error so progress is very very slow. The logcat was the only thing i ever got to which showed the cm10 logo as well but then, everything MESSED up. Havent been able to replicate that result since.

So happy to hear such good news for the DesireX! Finally the developing for this device is becoming richer first of all, thank you for this custom kernel and thanks nexus prime for his effort to port the CM series I'm not an expert but yeah, sense and AOSP/AOKP Roms need different kernels. To learn more I think that Dennis Rassmann (the creator of the famous Bricked kernel series) or faux can answer your question about ramdisk, if you contact them (they are really kind and gentle). After that I would like to ask if it's possible to add the useful sweep2wake function to this kernel, in future. For now, good work guys, never give up!!!

NTFS read/write support
Cleaned out all unnecessary kernel features and drivers
Various other tweaks
I do not support the Cyanogen Mod (CM) ROM and if you run into any problems using it with this kernel you are on your own.

If you had a different custom kernel installed before, you might need to reflash the original kernel that came with your ROM (boot.img in zip).
During installation the cache partition, Dalvik-cache and modules and init.d scripts from previously installed kernels are cleaned.

This kernel is optimized to run best at the default options. There no need to change options like for example CPUfreq governor or min/max frequency - changing anything can have a negative effect on stability and performance.
Do not use profiles or hotplugging, they are unnecessary and only lead to instabilities.
If you experience any problems and are on a nightly or kanged ROM, try the latest stable version of that ROM first. I will not give support or answer any questions if you do not try this before reporting a problem with the kernel.
If you experience stability problems like reboots, freezes, FCs and SoDs and you did OC, first try changing back to the stock settings. If this solves the problems, your OC configuration is not stable. There are some indications that OC settings which run fine at high battery charges might still cause problems at lower battery charges. So to be safe always check that your OC configuration runs fine at low battery like 5%.
When reporting a bug always include information about your ROM and hardware model. Also be as precise as possible when describing the problem. Just because a single person is experiencing a problem, it does not mean there actually is a problem with the kernel. I always wait until at least one other person can confirm the issue before I look into it. So if you see someone posting a bug report, do not be shy and feel free to confirm the issue or if you do not have the problem let me know that too.
When asking for a feature you would like to see implemented in GLaDOS always provide a link with information about this tweak and preferably also a link to the source code.

the kernel boots fine. if you came from a kernel with a modified ramdisk you'll need to reflash the ram (as stated in OP)
thanks for the kernel @Eze

Re: [KERNEL][18 MAR] GLaDOS V1.1 for JB 4.2.2
It seems like i get these weird lock screen thing. I'm not sure how to describe it. I'm on vanir ROM. Whenever you lock screen then turn it on again this thing happens where the screen is flashing? I'm not sure what it is. I'll try to get a video of it. It's the kernel as i have no problem on Franco or lean.

This has been discussed on the ROMs thread. You need to comment out the GPU clock set line in vanir.conf on the SD storage.

I have released GLaDOS V1.2 adding the RoW (Read-over-Write) I/O scheduler and fixing the kernel crash when unmounting USB OTG devices.
Flashed the new kernel and its super smooth. But all 4 cores are on constantly. Even when is idle. Is it supposed to act like that?

Thanks a lot, i'll test it right now and report back if it's needed.
It's damn good to see you around Ezekeel
I'll try to flash it again to test soon. My first attempt resulted in a boot loop for some reason. I am on the most current bootloaders too.

Drop the boot ani you want in data/local and you won't have to change it

Yeah the script worked. As long as you dont have any init.d tweaks you want/need. Guess i need to edit the script just in case

Or you could use faux123's reset kernel then flash the kernel
