My friend sent me few songs over bluetooth and then i heard them via Walkman app with no probs. But later when I moved them over to my Music folder using ES File manager the songs still appear in walkman but gives me a message saying "Cannot Play Track"
I think it is still trying to play the songs from the bluetooth directory. How can i clear the cache/data of the app so that it rescans the SDCard for music??
BTW i tried clearing the data from Settings and restarting the phone also dint help..
Download this app and use the 'Update media gallery' option

I have Google Music beta app installed, but it doesn't seem to find all the local mp3 files (i.e. only shows 7 of the 23 files), even though they are all in the same folder...
all the other music apps (stock player, MixZing, etc.) list all the songs just fine.
I have run "Rescan Media" app but no change
Interesting that before i applied the Enhancement 3.1.4b patch, i am almost sure it could see all the files...
Any ideas ?
ive had problems with google music but unistallign and reinstalling app worked. im some cases i had to use titanium back up to get it to unistall all files.
Had to rebuild and decided to not rstore the google music again. Not using cloud anyway, just local files

i deleted a whole bunch of music but x10 would keep downloading the same music on its own. how i can stop it from downloading all the music and videos it keeps downloading as soon as i connect it to wifi?
thanks.
U need to be more specific with your prob.

i was deleting the music from the sd card using the computer. so the music app would hang when trying to play.
so i restored all the folders manually in the audio songs folder and it started working again but it started downloading all the region specific songs and videos again over wifi
i think i need to delete all the songs from inside the music app of the phone to delete them permanently.
i hope they wont come back.
I think clearing data of ur music player.....in the settings --> applications --> all.....
should help....
But it will delete ur playerlists if any.....

which music app are yu using??
hi i cleared the data. thanks
i also saw the permissions of the music player
1. read contact data
2. record audio
3. intercept outgoing calls, read phone state and identity
4. full internet access
does a music player need all these permissions? it looks like a spying application.
Hi Guys,
since yesterday my Xperia S (FW .73) is no longer listing any music (stored at /mnt/sdcard/Music...)
I tried several things to fix this:
- reboot several times
- rename music foder
- copy music from /Album sub folder into /Music folder
- rescan via "rescan media" app
- testing with third party music player apps like standard android music player or Meridian
...but without success!
Music player still says that there is no music available on my device.
But I do have about 9 GB!
The only may important thing I did yesterday was to change the micro SIM card.
Bit this works without any trouble.
So do you guys have any idea?
Should i reinstall generic .73 FW?
If you go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All find the Media Storage App, clear Data, restart the phone and leave it ~5 minutes it should force it to rescan everything.
Hey sixdaysandy, thanks for you advice.
Unfortunately it has no impact!
I've done it several times and cleared almost every Music Media data I found. But after I made a reboot my device still thinks I do not have any music...
Therefore i am flashing the LT26i_6.0.A.3.73_SG_Generic.ftf FW without Wiping User Data right now!
And i really hope that this will fix the bug!
Edit:
Finally i was able to reproduce this strange behaviour.
I deleted every music and put it right back into the music folder. And there it was!
But it seems that every time i reboot - the device isn't any longer listing my music and it's gone again...
so there must be something wrong with the music library or the music player itself. Or maybe another app is going to kill the library?!
hi, I just download some music with youtube2mp3 app, my walkman can't find it or load it, I have to go to file explorer and there to listen to the one song

Try reboot to start media scanner.
Did you choose from walkman to display all your tracks?

I restart my phone and it works..Is there any other way to load my songs? I do not want to reboot every single time..THX GUYS
Unmount and mount sd card in storage settings. When i loading from pc to phone ut pops up automatically, takes time but its there....
I've been trying out the new Google Play Music app and really like it, but have a couple of problems/questions:
1. One of the album art files (folder.jpg) was incorrect, so I copied the correct image over the top of it. The app seems to have cached the old incorrect image and won't pick up the new file, even after a reboot. How do I clear the image cache?
2. I'm getting a load of voice command files from a sat nav app showing up in my music list. How can I restrict Google Play's library to only designated music folders on my external SD card?
1) Not sure - clear app cache in settings > apps > Google music?
2) You can create a file in the folders you dont want showing called ".nomedia", although test the sat nav works still.
Delete wrong image via Google Play Music on PC .
jje
folder.jpg is local media. Google play music also plays what is on your sdcard.

The cache is showing as empty (and the option to clear it is disabled)

I haven't synced my music to the Google Play cloud - it's only stored locally on an external SD card
I even tried the "Delete Data" option in app settings but it still won't display the new folder.jpg
???
OK now I've even un-installed the app and re-installed it and the old jpg is still showing! Where the hell can its cache be?

Maybe the incorrect album art is within the tags of the mp3's? If you cleared data and it rescanned it and the same incorrect album art is there, it has to be getting it from somewhere.
In the end I used an album art app to replace the artwork and now it's fine.
Thanks for the suggestions
Damn...another problem. I removed the SD card from the phone and connected it to the PC to tidy up some of the MP3 tags. Now Google Play Music won't recognise any of the music on the SD card.
I've tried:
- Unmounting/remounting the SD card
- Rebooting
- Uninstalling/re-installing the Play Music app
- Selecting a track from the SD card using ES File Explorer, then playing it using Play Music (it played, but still didn't show up in the library)
- Deleting the app data from app settings
- Uninstalling and re-installed the app
???
I've got the same problem...

...except that I haven't removed the SD card since installing GPM. The old version of GPM worked fine and saw all music stored in both my S3's memory and on the SD card. Since the update I only get 4 sound files (1 sample Samsung file and 3 randoms - the same 3 randoms all of the time). Why do Google keep breaking this app? It's great when it works, but the Big G always seem to make things worse when they try and make them better!
Watching this thread eagerly for a fix/workaround.
