Looking for email app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been looking for and have yet to find an email app that will do what I want. I would like to find an email app that would let me create create folders for sorting my email. I know this isn't a server function of pop servers. So the app would have to create the folders locally. This would allow me to save or move emails into the different folders. Is there even an app for android that does this with pop mail?

Does the stock email app support push? I use gmail however prefare the samsung email app becuse of zooming and copy text support.

Yes... Well.. Indirectly.. With Gmail you can setup mail fowarding from any other email account. On your PC have a look in your Gmail account settings for fowarding.. Gmail will pull your standard pop3 email for you and then push it to your phone... Easy.. Just let gmail gather your email from various acounts...
Edit. Just read again .. You would prefer the samsung app... Not sure then...

Yes it does.

Why am I not getting push emails?

I can't find any settings to allow for push email. Out only asks me to poll for emails periodically, but that isn't even working. The only time I get emails is when I physically go into the email folder. Am I missing something?

What kind of email account?
Yahoo and hotmail.

did you turn yahoo notification off? If so turn it back on and see if that reenables push.
Notifications are enabled. Is there somewhere specific to go to to enable push email?

if you go to settings, applications, running services and click on yahoo mail, does it list the Yahoo! Push notification service and the MailSyncService?
Also have you tried clearing the data from the apps (where you uninstall it) and then let it re-sync?
Just tried and yahoo doesn't show up under running services. Is it cause I don't have the yahoo email app? I just did the email set up. I know other people were having issues setting up yahoo that way but it worked for me. Now, if only I can get all my emails to push through.

[Q] For those of you with Gmail accounts...

Will you be using the gmail app or the stock email app?
The stock app has that cool 2 paned viewing thing, (inbox on one side, emails on the other) but the gmail app was made for gmail. I was just wondering what you guys prefer.

I myself don't like using multiple apps to access all my mail accounts. If I can get away with adding all my accounts to a single mail client then that's the route I'm taking regardless of the various features and benefits the individual apps themselves might have. I like to keep things simple.
Gmail app.
Very good label support
I use both!

I'm with you. I like everything in a nice, neat package.
I use the GMAIL App, to keep things simple and not all over the place.
I have always used the Gmail app. I have all my emails come into one place instead of trying to look through different apps for email. Centralized and consistent. Plus I love the labeling feature.
Gmail app is trash. I don't understand how come doesn't offer zooming and icon or widget notification. Stock does. I guess is another dumb apple patent conflict crap.

Is there a way to only get notified of mail in your priority inbox. The Gmail app system it supports this, but it doesn't. There are almost no settings at all! You used to be able to set a custom notification tone, too...:banghead:

i wish there was a way to get the stock android email app
does anyone have any ideas?
thanks in advance as always
Well, does the email service you're using use IMAP or POP3? If you don't know what these are, then Google it. It'll take you 30 seconds.

Check incoming settings for the account. If it's imap, then there's no option to delete from the server, if it's pop3 then you have the option to delete from server when deleting on device.
AFAIK outlook is only imap these days. But hunt for pop3 settings with Google, there may be a work around.

Strange going on's

Hello
I am running Android 4.3 and I have a issue when I delete Event Emails.
When i accept an Event Email request, it is added to the S Planner !AS NORMAL!
However, when I delete the Event Email from the built in Email Manager (Hotmail Email account) it also removes the event from S Planner.
Surely I should be able to delete an email after accepting the event request, without S Planner deleting the Event from my Calendar.
Any help would be GREAT
Many Thanks
Wayne Johnson
Move it to another folder instead of deleting it. Maybe make a new folder called events.

That does seem to be the only way around the issue. But Surely there is another way around this, I hate keeping emails. I just want to delete them after accepting the event
Have you tried using the google calander instead of s planner?, maybe another planner app?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I have tried other Email apps, as that seems to be the cause of the issues. If i use Chrome to delete the email (web-based), the event stays in S Planner, so seems to be an issue with the built in Email Manager.
Sounds like it, you could just delete it after the even is over...
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
That is another way of doing it. But the time that an event email is sent and the actual time of the event can be years/months apart, so sorting through the emails (which will be in order sent rather than by event date) will be a complete NIGHTMARE...
Yeah thats tuff when they are so far out. Good luck man
