If it has better battery life than my One S, then I would swap this phone to the HOX+. I really would like to see filipinos here at xda.. Sir, do you own a HOX+? I recently bought my One S with S4 processor and I really don't want to change my phone that fast. I may pass buying the HOX+..

Don't know exactly if there is or there was. Maybe yes but not that active like the americans.. do you plan on buying the HOX+? I suggest that you may want to pass from buying the HOX+ because it is not that far from the HOX, except for the 64gb storage, 2100 mAH battery, and the 1.6 MP front facing camera of the HOX+. The HOX+ still suffer from overheating when playing games. And the battery life doesn't much improved. For me, I just wait for HTC to release a phone with Snapdragon S4 pro quad, with 2 gb of ram, 64gb storage, 2500 mAH battery, 4.5" super amoled screen and a 2 MP front facing camera. Then that would be my next phone..

thanks for your input..one thing i like with HOX+ is its storage. 64gb is enough for me and i'm not a heavy user also so 2100 mah battery is ok. i'm just waiting(patiently) for the JB update on HOX and from there i'll decide.
I bought my wife a HOX+ last Friday and, so far, its performing to expectations. The battery life seems to be running around 8 or so hours to 30% with a lot of usage, but most of it is from the (you guessed it) screen on use. It does get warm when playing games and I cant get Asphalt 7 to work, but everything else is butter.
anyone tried a custom rom yet?
i have had the bootloader unlocked, installed recovery and rooted. but i'm still seeing issues with the current batch of custom ROMS right now with the camcorder FC's. i'm waiting to get it fixed before i flashed any custom rom

While you can find ways to avoid paying for apps, as mentioned in another post, you can register your credit card on the Play store and it will automatically charge you once you decide to make a purchase. I recommend that you do it the legal way to support the community of developers. Why skimp on a dollar when you can spend so much for a phone?
Yeah! +100 to that
Its not really going to cost you that much, for most of the paid apps are like $2

These threads amuse me. Here's 5 phones, pick one. And asking in the SGS2 section no less. That's like asking a bunch of Mac owners if they should buy a Mac or a PC.
Clearly you're open to a new carrier because you're choosing between 5 phones. If you had to stay with a specific carrier, that already cuts your choices down to 2 or 3 since the SGS2 and Sony handsets don't support the same 3G bands as the HTCs. Your country will factor in as well since launch availability, pricing, and local carrier discounts will incentivize some phones over others.
Those are just some of the considerations that don't even have anything to do with the phones themselves. Of those 5 choices, how many here have had 20 minutes hands-on with more than 2 of them? I haven't. Most of the opinions here will likely come from hours of aggregating editorial reviews. While those are valuable in their own way, asking a forum pales in comparison to doing that research on your own. Also, you can bet that almost no one here has played with a Sensation yet.
OP, I don't mean to be a douche but nobody here will offer a more meaningful opinion than one you could come up with on your own.

If you want a future proof phone say atleast for a year or two..
then the SGS 2 and Sensation are your best bet..
SGS2- you will be able to root and make sure you have the latest software thansk to XDA
Sensation - will not be able to root yet (locked bootloader) until some brilliant XDA members manages to crack it
I am considering the Sensation as I feel I hopefully wouldn't need to root it for atleast a year or two by which time somebody might have cracked its boot loader
The milestone has been out almost 2 years and the bootloader is still not cracked

I can get a high end phone price isnt a issue just need a phone which can last for a year or two, should be durable i am not a fan of rooting devices so i dont really need that until it is necessary to meet the techonolgy in shape of updates.
Sony phones look like toys with good feature, HTC looks solid, i have Samsung Wave at the moment though it has great features but the Bada OS which is not cracked yet, so i want to try Android now.
So far by reading reviews, user comments, watching videos i have found SGSII best but on the other hand there are people complaining about battery, sound, lag, reboots etc etc which is really confusing.
Note: I am from Pakistan so contract thing doesnt work here, i will get a Sim Free phone by paying full price of it thats why it is really necessary to do a research and ask for guidance.
How about the Google Nexus S (made by Samsung).
Always reqcieved the latest Android updates straight from Google.
Very stable.
NFC reader.
Many Custom ROMs.
Identical hardware to the Samsugn Galaxy S i9000 (4" AMOLED i9020, or sLCD i9023)
The phone feels like a phone in your hands.
No lag unlike the Samsung i9000.
About 350 Euros last time I checked.
handtec.co.uk post internationally.
Sadly, no microSD card, no FM Radio. Lacks some hardware enabled codecs for video, but still plays most and can play other formats using software decoding.
The hardware of Nexus S isnt outdated ? I guess most of the future applications will support dualcore phones.
Have mine for two days now and I must say this one of the best phones I got my hands on.
Battery life is amazing. Camera it's amazing.samsung's email client and screen is fantastic.
And 1.2ghz dual prossessor is so so fast.. Can't even compare to htc vision oc 1.8ghz cm7.

We get it, your battery life sucks. Take a look at your apps, because the majority of users say the battery life is great. I've done no tweaking except freezing a few hubs, everything still syncs in the background and I'm sitting on 92% now, unplugged at 7am this morning. (It's now 2:20pm here.)

It won't get Sense 4.0 officially, but developers are already working on Sense 4.0 with ICS 4.0.3 and it's a day or two from being released as a daily driver.
Even then the One X is a quad-core phone, there's no reason not to get it.

Honestly, do you really think you'll notice the difference between the S3 and S4 in daily use(if you're getting it American)? I'd rather have a 4.3 inch screen with 720p, than the gigantic 4.7, its nicer, and plus we have removable battery and sdcard space, a huge plus. The Rezound can run sense 4 perfectly fine, HTC just wants the one series to be their main money makers.

I don't care what a new phone does if you can't take the battery out.
Those are two really good reasons that nobody wants a nexus.
Performance wise, it won't be the deal breaker, since the dual core pretty much handles everything smoothly unless google optimize the next generation os with quad-core. Bigger engine doesn't always run faster and more efficient , especially in this high gas price age.

The nexus has a removable battery.
I don't mind the whole not.having an sd card thing. I'll be honest, it didn't bother me one bit. It takes five minutes to copy all the files over to your computer, and with the WiFi file transfer apps, its even shorter.
I definitely wouldn't base my decision of which phone to buy on whether there is a removable ad card. Unless someone can explain some great features that I simply haven't found yet.
With that said, the rezound is an awesome phone while amazing hardware. I absolutely love it

Even if Google optimizes the OS for quad cores, it'll only help for the actual Android system itself, not any of the apps you use, half the apps in the Play Store only use 1 core anyway and won't probably ever change that since it's not needed. (Facebook for example, Pandora, etc)
The S4 is a beast processor, best available, Tegra 3 is good for pure power but probably nothing else, I'd hold off on it honestly if you're rocking anything in the past few months.
Now if the One S came to Verizon with a S4 in it, that'd be a better debate.
Hello guys. I'm trying to upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S2 to either a Samsung Galaxy S3 or to the HTC One X.
I love my S2, the only think I do not like that much, besides samsung delaying rom releases a little too much for my taste, is that battery does not lasts a full day with moderate to heavy use, it lasts about 6/8 hours, and that it gets really hot.
Both phones have been out for a while already, so on your most objetive opinion, what are the cons you wish you would have known about the S3, and what is your experience regarding battery life under moderate to heavy use, and hotness of the phone?
Do you see any other advantage of one over the other? Do you whish to have bought the other?
I know there are hundred of reviews, but i'm asking for real experience here.
Thanks.
The HTC One X is obsolete in my opinion for 3 reasons:
1. No Micro-SD card slot
2. Non-removable battery
3. Terrible battery life
For those three reasons I don't think the phone is even worth considering over the Galaxy S3. if it had a removable battery and a Micro-SD card slot I would have gotten it over the S3 though.

Source? The battery life on the One X is absolutely amazing. It has better battery life than the Galaxy S3 by far due to the screen.
Engadget says:
Even with LTE enabled, battery life is noticeably better on AT&T's One X than on the foreign version. This was a sticking point in our original review, so we're extremely pleased with the improvement. We recorded eight hours and 55 minutes in our video loop rundown test with the screen set to 50 percent brightness -- most folks will have little trouble getting a full day's use from the 1,800mAh cell. Call quality was decent, but LTE performance exceeded our expectations with peak speeds of 35.7Mbps down and 23.5Mbps up (!) -- the fastest results we've ever recorded on an LTE device.

And AnandTech goes even further. Stating that One X gets a whopping 9.65 hours on 3G browsing , 5.5 hours on LTE and 10.35 on WiFi.
Finally, our cellular talk time charts put the AT&T One X in the upper half of our results. Overall the AT&T One X appears to do very well across the board, but it's very strong in the 3G/LTE tests.

Edit: By comparison: The Galaxy S3 gets 8.3 hours on 3G (Versus 9.65 on the One X) and a mere 7.6 hours on WiFi, almost 3 HOURS less than the One X USA.

I have had 2 of both, the one x has awesome battery life as many others have said. the camera on both of my one x's were way better than my first s3 but the s3 i just traded my one x for now is very good and on level with my one x. Anyone having camera issues (mainly bluring whenever its not super bright) i would say try an exchange if you can, I ran almost every rom on both s3's and that wasn't it 1st s3 was definitely a hardware issue.
One X:
Screen Looks nicer (only slightly)
Better Battery
Build Quality
S3:
More Development
SD card slot
Removable battery
more ram
More accessories (with all the carriers in the us and international versions being the same an android device is finally getting tons of options for cases/ etc)
Google Wallet, yes you have to hack it on but it works and with the new update its actually useful as you can use any cards.
Just my opinions, both are great phones but If you are big into flashing go s3.
I've said this in each of these threads thus far and ill say it again... As far as hardware the only thing the sgsiii has over one x is ram. Other then that the one x is a smidge ahead in everything else. Obviously the soc is the same so that a non issue. However development on the sgsiii is staggering at this point. Crushing the one x in that regard. We were one of the first with OFFICIAL cm10 preview builds and one of the first with OFFICIAL cm10 nightly support, the one x has neither AFAIK. Unofficial builds yes, official nope(correct me if I'm wrong there). Development was the sole reason I jumped ship from the one x to the sgsiii. And I definitely think I made the right move in that regard. Get the sgsiii, you won't be disappointed. Or get the one x, it's a kick ass phone. But I think you may get sgsiii envy. Of course everyone here will favor the sgsiii, and I noticed you made the same thread over in HTC land, there everyone will tell you the one x is better. So... These threads won't help much Imo.

The majority of people close to me who recently upgraded chose the One X over the S3. Pretty much all of them complain about the battery life constantly. Also, while I was taking a train back home with a friend, we spent the entire ride watching videos on Netflix. His battery was nearly 35% more depleted than mine was. If it matters we watched different shows but for the same amount of time.

I have a hard time believing you have a bunch of friends who bought the One X on contract and then ALL switched to the S3 at full price just because of the battery. Also that comparison with your friend is useless. Were you guys both on 100% when you started watching the video? I highly doubt you made a note of how much his battery was at before you watched the video.
And yes, we do have an idea of what "in my opinion" means. It means you have zero facts, source and are being biased.
The One X has an infinitely superior camera in my opinion. I hate the camera on the galaxy. I'm also a big dropbox user so the ext sd isn't as huge a deal for me either. I'd have stayed One X if they had proper multitasking. It was awful on the HOX. Awful. I can't stress that enough. Awful.

2.2 made improvements in this. I keep coming back to the HOX because even with less RAM on a stock based ROM it feels smoother, especially in the MMS app with ~5000 texts. As a test, I did an SMS Backup and Restore backup, wiped both databases clean and cleared data on the MMS apk, then restored the same backup to both. (I also did a full wipe later as well) and the HOX doesn't stutter on the least while the GS3 does, especially when trying to back out of a conversation with over 200 messages. The only way the GS3 is as good is running an AOSP based ROM. Odd I know, but it is empirical evidence based on my usage.

Custom roms have alleviated much of the multitask issue, but I wouldn't call it a non issue quite yet. My girly has my one x and I still play around with it, soon she will be getting the white one she wanted as this happened to the Grey one:

This post deserves a darwin award.
From the title itself, is it worth to upgrade to One X+? I mean, one downfall of the One X, is faster battery drain compared to the One S.. and the One S seems to be so much faster than the One X, but now the One X+ have a different chipset and now having a 2100 mAh battery.. do you think it's worth it? I've read some posts in the One X+'s forum that the battery is improved but not that much.. but now, they managed to have 4-5 hrs screen time, which is not by far from the One S.. and the JB and Sense 4+ is buttery smooth compared to the X's stock.. can the One S still beat the One X+?
Btw, i also do like the 64gb storage because 16gb isn't quite enough for me being a mobile gamer and a music lover, that's why i'm considering the upgrade..

If I get the money and I can unlock the One X+ on O2 I will be selling my One S and getting this. 1000x better screen way more storage and faster chipset. Battery is never going to be as good but the One S has a q hd samoled display so it's going to last a long time.

So the only downfall of the One X+ is still the battery like the One X? And in any other aspect, it will outmatch the One S? Well guys, after reading those comments, I just want to buy the One X+ ASAP.

Haha yea, the battery life is better many reviewers have said. Not amazingly better because the cpu is more powerful on the one x+ so most of the added battery power caters for that. Should be able to get a day with it which is the main thing . I want it badly as well lol. Was thinking about the nexus 4 but it's just problem after problem after problem on the n4 forum!

I did a little cleaning. Please remember that we do not accept that rude and offensive language that was used in the last posts.
This is the Q&A Section, so pretty much any question that has to do with the respective phone is allowed. And it is also allowed to ask whether a user that answers has sufficient base to give a substantial answer. No reason to get rude and offensive for that.
Thanks for your understanding.

For starters OP the HOS was never faster than the HOX. It's like my mum trying to say her dual core centrino laptop is better than my quad core i7.. This is just something HOS users have invented to make themselves feel less insecure about buying a cheaper phone. ( Not that they need too. The HOS is a great phone). As for the battery. My friend owns a single core HTC SXL. It has a great battery life because of it's lower power. Now my HOX+ can pretty much go blow for blow with it in terms of battery, and lasts longer with the power saver mode enabled.
End of the day, it depends how you use your phone. If you use it as a phone/browser/media device. There is no need to upgrade. If you want to play the latest games or show off to your friends, your best upgrading to a HOX+ / SGS III or Note II.

Well that's a very professional answer, compared to some HOX+ users here who treat other people who have inferior phone to theirs, as dumb ****.. i really appreciate your response sir..
Now, about my plan to upgrade, after what i've heard from you, i really want to buy the HOX+ asap. i realized that 4.3" screen, 16gb storage and a battery that barely last a day with moderate use isn't enough for me.. before i bought my HOS, i really like the One X but i've read several reviews like in phonearena, gsmarena and here at xda that there are so many issues with the HOX like the short battery life, overheating problems, and the camera lens being vulnerable to scratches because it is really protruded, so i just bought the HOS. But seeing all that spectacular specs of the HOX+ and all the great things it has to offer, i fell out of love with my HOS.. and because i'm really a heavy user, mobile gamer and music lover, then the HOX+ is the perfect phone to upgrade to.

On my HOX+ the rubber around the raised camera bezel is just slightly raised compared to the glass. So when i put my phone down, the glass never makes contact with the surface. I don't know if this is the same for all HOX+'s though, as i have read threads by people claiming that there camera is not centered on the back of the phone. But from my experience with the HOX+, the quality is great. I guess you will just have to cross your fingers and hope you get a good model

It's good that the camera lens protrusion is now solved in the HOX+, and yes i've also read that some models, the camera eye isn't centered, i guess i have to inspect first the unit i will get before i pay for it. Good to know all issues to avoid before buying.
Btw, i never consider the sgs3 nor the note 2 because: 1) i was never impressed with the build quality of samsung mobile being plastic, it looks very cheap. 2) touchwiz UI isn't appealing compared to sense UI, i don't plan to root my phone yet within a year so i can't live with it's UI. 3) the One X+ looks sexier and more premium than any other samsung mobile. 4) sgs3 and note 2 is too mainstream, over rated, and almost all people use this and braging that they have the best and the latest phone out there, i don't want to be one of them. 5) super-lcd2 is more appealing to me than samoled, (though it's very ironic because my One S have samoled).
So i guess i will definitely get the One X+ if i can sell my One S, then i could get the money to buy one.. i'm afraid my One S will never have a JB update because it isn't one of the flagships today.

Ok. I'm planning to upgrade from my LG G2x (Wind Optimus 2X) to either with Galaxy S3 or the One X+ (North American - Telus Canada versions). I'm leaning to the S3, but I want to see if people on this forum can change my mind. My criteria:
- Real-life performance (benchmarks are moot)
- Battery-life
- Camera performance
- Construction quality
- Future proofing (ROM development both 3rd party or manufacturer)
Coming from the LG G2x, I've learned a lot of lesson on areas I've gotten burned. That's one reason I've ruled out the Nexus 4 (being LG) and that fact that 16GB is not freaking enough. Google is smoking dope if they think we can get everything off the cloud and don't need much storage...not when we're on a plane or in the subway. I've learned that nVidia is terrible and doesn't support or provide source code for the Tegra (at least for the Tegra 2), I've learned, that though the processor was great, the G2x was totally short on RAM 384MB (usable), I've learn that given all these issues both LG and developers here and there weren't spending much effort supporting the device.
I much prefer the design and construction of the One X+ over the Galaxy S3, I also prefer, Sense over TouchWiz, but I'm open to trying new ROMs, skins, and launchers. I prefer things to work well stock, out of the box, but again if I need to rolling in a new ROM (or just a nice update on Android, I'm happy to do so.)
So I've probably already convinced myself based on my criteria, the S3 is better choice for me, even though, I dread the look and the feel in hand, and the fact that it's as ubiquitous as the iPhone. So someone convince me otherwise to go with the One X+ instead.

I just came from the s3 and all I can say is if you like features speed and a beautiful phone one x plus is for you as for development the s3 is going to be best if you like switching roms

It depends on what ROM you plan to use for battery life. I can't make a solid answer about battery yet, but I will say if you plan on gaming it eats up battery pretty quickly. IMO, I prefer the One X camera. Audio quality on the one X plus seems better as well. My advice would be to go to a store and try both phones out and see which one is best for you.

The battery is about the same as my s3, that I owned for 4 months it's about 8-19 hours depending on how heavy I use my phone mostly tapatalk YouTube pulse facebook talk and texting all day with some GPS navigation. The camera is about the same, (HTC camera software blows Samsung's out the water) HTC one x wins all the way in my book, the phone works great s3 software is still ics stock while the one x is jellybean.
One thing I wanna note is the one x plus has no lagg at all the speakers on the s3 internal and external sucks compared to onex+

Not a lot gaming at all. More surfing, videos, and I tend to use navigation a lot when I'm travelling. I hate having my phone out of juice in the middle of the afternoon especially when I'm travelling in another city because I was using the navigation/GPS a lot.

For me personally there is also a non technical/specs related reason. I've always been a fan of HTC devices. Design, build quality and reliability is the best among Android devices. Eventhough competing brands might offer a specs wise slightly better device, I keep supporting HTC by buying their products. I want the company to stay in the Android phone business! Otherwise Samsung or Apple will soon be the only main manufacturers...

Agree 100% on HTC as company. In fact, I was using HTC for my two previous devices prior to going to the LG G2x. Again big regret going to LG. But times have changed a bit and Samsung is really pulling ahead in the Android market. My biggest concern with One X+ reading around is the battery life. Right now it seems some people are doing fine with while others are having some serious battery drain issues. I might need to get the device and try it a couple of days to really find out for myself.

Isn't there a 14-30 day period when u buy a phone that u can return it no questions asked with a new contract? If so, why does anyone need to tell anyone answers to questions they can figure out on their own? Lol. Get the S3, play with it for 10 days, return it for hox+, return it in 10 days, then stick with the one u like best. If u can't figure out battery life in 10 days then a smartphone probably ain't for u, lol! Some people
If you had to choose between phones, choose between the Optimus G or the HTC One X+. I say this because I personally want to spend $200 on a phone with 1.) Good Build Quality and 2.) not outdated Hardware (the S3 has a dual core, all phones now have quad core). If you want many ROMs, then get the S3. I've had all 3 phones, and I'm sticking with the One X+. Battery life is on par with S3, but the Optimus G has the best out of all. One X+ screen is on par with Optimus G, and they both blow the S3 screen. S3 and One X+ cameras are both good, Optimus G's is mediocre.

I'm in Canada, so things are a little different with our carriers. My current provider had a 30min voice and 50MB data usage limit to void the device return policy even though the period is 14 days. I'll have to look into Telus's policy more closely if they also have something similar. That and we have 3 yr contracts and better healthcare...
I just returned my One X+. I wanted it because I really like the 64GB of internal storage. Plus I was getting bored with my Galaxy S3. I knew I was losing RAM but figured it was worth the trade off (the U.S. GS3 has 2GB RAM vs 1GB for One X+).
I have the GS3 with AOKP and after using the One X+ I realized it is NOT faster than my GS3 like I was thinking it would be. I knew the One X+ was not as friendly to root and flash ROMs like the GS3 but I was willing to just leave it stock. It's not that it lagged or anything. It works great as is. It's just that having the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 (Nexus 4) it did not offer the performance boost I was looking for. As for the storage, my GS3 does have less internal storage but it does accept SD cards.
It does play better looking games than the US GS3 with its Adreno 225. It will get really hot playing the high end games but I had a case on so I didn't feel it as much. The One X+ GPU is not better than the iPhone 5 GPU or even the Nexus 4 with its Adreno 320. I knew that before hand but was still fine with that. I just mention it here in case you didn't know.
As for battery life, I had a PowerSkin on my One X+ that offers some protection AND has spare battery power if and when needed. So I didn't have a battery problem myself.
If your fine not having a device that's as friendly to hack and has as much developer support then I would say the One X+ would be good over the GS3. I didn't like that by keeping my One X+ stock that I couldn't disable all the bloat but it was a small price to pay I guess.

You do realize the one x+ has a 12 core gpu. IPhone 5 is a quad gpu and I'm not sure about the s4 pro.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
lol. You believe because it has more cores that makes it better? The “cores" are not equal at all. The GPU's are different. And although you see that number you are very mistaken to think that makes it more powerful. Its not. Its not even close to being the same.
No the iPhone 5 has a 3 core GPU. The iPad last I check has the quad core GPU to push all those extra pixels. Benchmarks can show how many frames the devices run loading and playing certain things. The iPhone 5 in mine and others who done it handles and plays way smoother with mores frames in those intense benchmark 3D tests.
I forgot some people can't accept a device they like or has being less powerful and beaten by other devices. In whatever area. I didn't mean to make think the One X+ GPU is not good. It just really is not better than the other two I listed. Once my devices GPUs are beaten by others I have no problem accepting that. In fact, I said the Tegra-3 was better than my Adreno 225 in my GS3.
