Is the notification LED on the power button red only? I've only had my phone for about two days, but I haven't seen it be any other color. I searched around and all I could find were statements about an RGB notification LED (on the Sprint and other versions?) alongside statements claiming the AT&T version doesn't have one and complaints about how rarely it flashes (which I do find annoying).
Just wondering if anyone has seen be another color. A bit annoying if LG went with red only.
Yea, I've noticed this on my AT&T version as well... Hopefully once the bootloader is unlocked and we can throw on CyanogenMod we can see if it has a true RGB one.

Back when I was running 1.5 I had Twidroid installed and the LED would blink purple when I had new tweets. I flashed both 2.1 leaks and now the LED is only Green or Orange. I have used a few apps that change the color but no luck.
Is there some way to fix this or am I just crazy and imagined that it was a different color before?
Thanks.
...Wait...What?
Uhhh never heard of an Eris having a purple LED....haha..
From what I understand the Led only does those two colors and the trackball only does white just in case your seeing things on your trackball too.
It seems I'm insane then. Maybe I was looking at my friends MyTouch then. Haha. Thanks guys. THats pretty dumb that we only have the two colors.
you can change the led colors but you have to be rooted and change the lib file. but i take no responsibility for you breaking your phone.
hi,
my S3 and my colleagues's S3, when we receive sms or missed calls,
the LEDs does not have consistency,
mine is white but there are some background color like slightly orange and yellow but my colleagues is jus pure white
then for orange, mine always shows like a circle with 3 quadrants of different colors but my colleagues only show 1 color,
is my set fault or this is because of the way the phone displays color but if it is so, then both phones would be showing same instead of distinct difference, right ?
can anyone share their experience ?

You can download lightflow from the marker to test the LED. With that app you can test a variety of colours.
Afaik there is a revision 1 and revision 2 of the i9300 (international) around with revision-2 only having slight design changes to prevent some issues.
The phone has several distinct LED's which, when mixed together, display the color of your choice. However several colors which are not native (meaning which are not directly displayed by a single LED) mixing together doesn't really give the intended result but a confusing "mess" of colors.
My best guess is that, if your friend's S3 really only shows a single color-point, he got a revision where they either moved the LED's very close together or replaced them by multi-color LED's.

Really???? And how can you tell which revision you have?
Anyone tried this yet? I gave it a go, not really sure what to expect. Installed fine, both the front and back lights kept blinking green until I swiped down the notification bar to clear them, even though I didn't have any notifications. I was messing around with the settings, and it is able to recognize the back light independently, so that's good.
Then I let the screen lock, when I went to unlock it nothing would happen, just stay black, im not sure if it turned off, or the screen was just staying off. Thinking it turned off I tried to boot it up, but nothing would happen. So next I tried to get into bootloader mode, which did work. So from there I went into twrp fixed permissions for a good measure and rebooted fine. Then I promptly uninstalled lightflow, until I get some other input from someone else.
So if you are worried about trying I don't think you should be, just give it a go and let me know your results. Just keep in mind you might have to do something to get it to boot if you have a problem, wasn't really a big deal though.

I sent diagnostic information to the developer last week. His reply didn't sound too hopeful. HTC uses different hardware than most companies when it comes to the led mapping. I hope we will see an update that will provide further support for our device.
I wouldn't count on it, unlike the Nexus's notification light the Droid DNA (and most other HTC Phones) do not have multicolored notification lights. The light can effectively be 3 colors I think, which are red, green, and maybe orange/yellow at most (one of those might not even exist I cant remember) but that's it. Now if you just wanted to map those colors to individual actions I guess that could totally be feasible, but new colors outside of those like blue, purple, white, etc just isn't capable with the hardware in our phones.
It kinda sucks if your into that kinda thing, but what can ya do?
I agree that not having the multi-colored leds that my S3 had is an annoyance, but if LightFlow would just work so I could have dark orange for gmail and green for sms, I could live with that...
Unfortunately, I got the black screen at some point... I think after enabling the back led. And add to that I get the green led and it will not shut off no matter what. Sucks.
I'm starting to think that developer support will never get to an acceptable point for the DNA and I will need to go back...

yeah, when I started messing around with LED's I had problems. So in lightflow I just setup my different notifications like normal, but without the LED, and just use the repeating function instead. Yes, the LED would have been nice, but honestly I used lightflow for the custom repeating notifications and the LED was just an added bonus for me and isn't really necessary.
Up until last night I'd always thought that the Ascend Mate 2 (MT2-L03) had a simple dual color notification LED. That being green and red (the combination of which makes orange or amber). I've always been kind of annoyed by this, since it severely hinders the ability to define multiple custom notification colors like I've been used to with Nexus and Motorola devices amongst others.
Last night while trying to do the official Huawei 'downgrade' to Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) my phone showed that the notification LED is in fact a tri-color one - indeed it's capable of displaying the color blue! I was sort of taken aback, and this makes me wonder why Huawei wouldn't enable the blue segment of the LED in the kernel itself. I'd love to be able to have an unlimited pallete of possible notification colors like I had with my old Galaxy Nexus.
Just something curious that I wanted to share....

If mate 2 gets CM I will add it if the dev doesn't.

The Dev just said he isn't. lol. And to add to that said that it is unable to pulse. So now its just a blue LED that stays on when your screen is off? hahaha.
Did it not pulse with that boot error? I remember seeing it back when but don't remember if it was solid.

I will check into it in a few. Just got home. Never seen mine do blue. But I didn't bother looking at it while it was doing that. Lol.
Well after trying simple stuff mine doesn't seem to be able to display blue. May be hardware variation too. Or they may have used combo to get the blue effect. Sending Hex did nothing.
U-ra said it was an after thought possibly by Huawei and is wired different. (Maybe that's what he said) lol

It definitely pulsed, as in blinked on and off. Maybe he was referring to full PWM control or something...
Who knows, the only time I've ever seen it light was during a failed attempt at using the Huawei flash back to Jelly Bean.
He also said it wasn't very bright, which I definitely disagree with because it was quite bright - easily as bright as I've ever seen the green and red segments light during normal operation of the handset.

I've used both LightFlow and Light Manager and red, green and yellow are the only options. No blue.

Same for me. However if it isn't I kernel it still wouldn't work. Without the information about the hardware its a moot point. I will keep checking into it though. My curiosity will see to that. Lol.
Yeah, I would love to have blue as an option as well.
It's probably already known by everyone that this phone packs an RG notification light (damn you, ZTE!) What's more, blinking seems to be fixed to solid and slow blinking, and it can only display RED , ORANGE and GREEN.
But, at least on ResurrectionRemix, there seems to be a way to turn on the two LEDs that we actually have with the console, and with a desired brightness:
su
echo 255 >/sys/class/leds/red/brightness
255 is the maximum brightness, but it ranges from 0 to 255.
Also, we can do a very nice shade of yellow using:
echo 255 >/sys/class/leds/green/brightness
echo 64 >/sys/class/leds/red/brightness
There are also a bunch of other parameters inside, but brightness is the only one I tested so far. I think we could use this to control the LEDs via a root-enabled app like LightFlow. Is it possible? It would improve a lot the LED quality.
Yellow would be nice. Maybe if you contact the Appflow dev he could make it work. However i'm not sure I want to install an app just to add 1 color

not just colors, in theory... Blinking speed is theoretically changeable, but it is somehow hard-coded and only blinks slowly for some reason. I'm not even sure if it can be just solid when triggered by a notification
There are a bunch of files inside the red and green led folders, and I guess they are what controls the LEDs flashing speed and all. I say "guess" because maybe they are simply ignored and the blinking speed is hard-coded. But whatever the case is, it seems possible to at least turn the LEDs on via shell scripts

I found it extremely disappointing that ZTE gave us only RG lights on the non-Chinese version (I heard the Chinese version has RGB?). For diodes so cheap, I am only led to believe it must have been a manufacturing error on their part. Don't get me wrong, we get more than enough for the price and specs of this beast of a device, but how hard could it be to get RGB LEDs on this device? I really miss multicolour notification lights. This green-red-orange thing gets boring rather quickly.

I really miss the RGB led too. I never know when my notification is important or not.

Yeah, bro. Coming from a One M8 with the same RG lights (used for about 2 years, previously a Nexus 5 which was RGB), you would understand
