I have a very frustrating problem with my Amaze. The soft buttons backlight never shuts off unless I power down the phone. I am rooted with S-ON. I have tried different ROMs to eliminate the problem and even went back to stock but the problem persists.
I tried running the script here as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584549
but nothing shuts them off!
Then, when I plug the phone in to charge when it is off the screen goes back and forth from staying black to the backlight coming on, over and over again.
Here is a video of that:

hmm, the app didn't turn them off completely, just dimmed them, but it's an improvement.

Hi!
I'm using a recent CM9 nightly with default kernel.
I would like to have your opinion : about 3/4 a week my SGS3 is "stuck" when it's locked : impossible to wake up using home or power button, the screen stays black.
The weird thing is that when it happens, the phone is not frozen : I can still hear music on the headphones and control volume using Up/Down buttons.
Sometimes I let it stuck and receive a notification some minutes later and the phone magically can be unlocked again, screen wakes when I push Home button.
Very weird and annoying when that happens.
My question is : what do you think it could be? An app? How can I debug this and know what prevents the screen to wake up when that happens?
Thanks.

Thanks, but is that the kind of easy answer you all tell when you don't know the exact answer?
When I installed CM9 a week ago, I did do a full wipe...
I think that next time it happens, I will try to connect my SGS3 on USB and do a adb logcat, maybe I'll find useful information.
Have you tinkered with any of the could settings or voltage settings?

Having a similar problem to yourself. Installed CM9 rom had a play and then went back to omegaV9 performing a full wipe using the instructions on this site before reflashing.
Since then when my phone is locked screen off then i unlock either via swipe or using security code (digits ) it looks like the phone unlocks but sort of does a warm boot with black screen for a few seconds with the two buttons down the bottom light up.
When it starts it looks like all the apps have stopped and are restarting again.
I re flashed again omega 9 thought i had it sorted but it started playing up again this evening.
If anyone has any ideas please post..
Hi, I'm a newbie here. I also exprience this problem with my samsung GT-i9300. I hoping to see a fix with this problem.
This forum has been so helpful to new android users. Thank you guys.
Hi there,
I'm just wondering if there's a rom that fixes the wakeup lag on the phone. I do believe it must be software related so it should be possible to fix it. I already tried wakelock, but this really drains the battery.
I also tried a few "jellybean"roms, but the problem still persits. I really love my phone, but I dont understand why everytime I want to use my phone I need to stare at a black screen for a while before it wakes up.
Thanks,
No idea either mate but my phone shows the screen instantly when I hit the home button. Maybe energy saving mode on or some apps causing lag?
You could try to back up everything and then wipe your device.
+1 on the instantly turning on

Really? Got to check on that. Thanks. It really confirms it's not the hardware!

Does anyone know how to use the front key lights as notification led's on our L9 since we don't have one? I found out how to use the camera flash as one but that's the back of the phone and i don't like facing the phone screen face down on anything in fear of scratching the screen.
If there is not a method already around somewhere to do this, how hard would it be to get this working? I think it would be a great asset to our L9s!
R: [Q] Notification LED
Use LG Notifications from Playstore. It's free but requires root.

Please try the NOLED app. Probably a better option. Tried on my HTC Glacier. Works.

Works for me.
How does it behave for you? On my L9 nothing changed at all once installed and enabled :/ What settings did you choose? Do they flash after the screen turns off for awhile after the notification, and stay flashing until they are read??

I just chose the default settings, and it flashes the front key lights till the message is read. Maybe cause I'm using P760 V10h on my P765.
The app is a battery drainer since it wakes the cpu up each time the buttons light up.
Im hoping they can program this feature into future roms for the L9 where it just causes the LED's to blink until the screen is turned back up when a notification is received. Not sure if its possible to program the blinking to run without waking the cpu?
That was another concern of mine, but if it was integrated into the rom in such a way to not wake the cpu then battery life would not be affected as much.
Tried removing apps one by one (initially thought ut is greenify then adaway but no..aftr removing them the problem still persists)
turning featyres on or off,
Flashed fresh firmware...
Tried kernels...
Removed tempered glass (thought it might be blocking proximity) but no...
Also in naptime i saw whenever deep sleep is occuring the SOD is getting triggered...
Also one issue..this might be related.. My battery icon always shows an arrow which indicates, it is charging an external device, which is not...i used alcohol to clean that..sometimes it goes away..sometimes it stays...
Guys help me...
Nothing has solved it..
Please help me guys..
Also another thing...my phone does not restart...i have to force restart...or if i turn off the phone it wont boot with power button...power + vol down button is needed to turn on the phone...

What variant are you on? Are you on Pie stock firmware or Oreo? Try Refurbish of both.
Remove Naptime, see if it goes away. Remove all "battery saver" apps and stuff like that until it goes away. Then you can add them back.
Tried removing every app one by one..
Even naptime too
Default theme
One thing is last..that is i have to set default launcher instead of lawmchair...

If the one person with the most knowledge of, and offers the most help with this phone doesn't recommend Pie, that should tell you something.
Having the exact same issues @shirso.it7 .
Did you ever solve it? ?
For anyone with the same issue, installing SOD Killer has solved it for now. Not a perfect solution, but hey.....
My Flash Light automatically turns on every few minutes (at random time). The "Flash Notification" is turned off. This problem is draining my battery. It does it always, even when the phone is idle. I cant figure out what triggers the flash light. I tried starting my phone in safe mode, but the problem persists. I dont want to RESET my phone right now (for some special reasons). How can I fix it? Is there anyway I can pinpoint the process that is triggering the flashlight? (my phone is Samsung S6 Edge)
Using stock or custom rom??

Thank u for the reply bro, its STOCK ROM, I have never flashed it. I m really helpless now. I wish there is some kinda process identifier which can show me which program or process actually turns on the light.

Thank u for the reply, I have never messed with any setting and it has never been this way. Its Samsung S6 Edge, there is no off-screen gestures kinda thing but I turned off all the Edge Screen settings. Its been happening for 6 months. I have not installed any untrusted apps.
