Hi! I have problem with perseus Kernel If I overclock cpu a little bit, All the same the problem (If I start play game some time it will restart), it does not matter how much overclocked. I tested 1.7Ghz clock and test it For 1375mv, 1400mv, 1425mv, and it's not effective and between a perseus rom freezes lock screen and I have to restart it :S, siyah kernel will not let me even overclock more than 1.5GHz can someone help me with this problem , I love overclocking :silly:
SiyahKernel S3 v1.5 CPU over/underclock: 100-1800MHz 18-steps , GPU over/underclock: 54-800MHz ,Perfect to play , i have been using for a long time and i had never any problems ........

Okay But, why I'm not able to overclock 1.8GhZ its show me 200-1.5GhZ I tried overclock stweaks, cpu master, set cpu, and Foxhound extras but not help I try flash siyah again If that help.. Block story max settings eat really MUCH performance
I'm not even able hit over the 1.5GhZ and it show me 25-1.5GhZ (((
Anyone?
Anyone know what I do wrong if I'm not able hit 1.8GhZ?
yes,, your cpu isn't up to it, simple. With overclocking make small steps, note what you are doing, experiment with voltages, but all chips are different so experimentation is the only way, along with lots of reading and learning, skill aided by searching

okay But why this perseus give me overclock more than 1.5GhZ But Perseus is so buggy :S and I can normally overclock Gpu with siyah kernel but If I run test I am not note difference, 1 better fps for 700MhZ GPU Clock My Phone is so strange

you have to understand the fact that the kernel is in alpha stage, so if you dont know what you are doing you shouldnt have flashed it. and also all chips are not capable of handling higher frequency, 1.6 ghz should be asafe bet for all processors..
700mhz in siyah makes a big impact depending on the benchmark you run.. check the thrread in my sig for more info.
Thanks all for posts! I figured it out, I give more juice for all these steps for perseus alpha And not anymore reboots. 1.8 GhZ 1450mv 1.7GhZ 1400mv, 1.6GhZ 1350mV, 1.5GhZ 1300mV, I run now 1.7GhZ for dual core mode, I'll try soon run my phone quad core mode . But I can't overclock my gpu with perseus and siyah rom doesn't give me overclock more than 1.5ghZ DD so strange Ps: 1.7 GhZ Dual core My Cpu score is 8123 and memory 5538 on quandrant benchmark.
Edit: If my phone a little bit overheat it reboot same thing is 1.6GhZ, 1.7GhZ, 1.8GhZ. 1.6GhZ I run stability test about 1-2min and it reboot, Battery About 41 degrees Celsius :S
Why in the name of all that is holy would you overclock your CPU, and then run it in dual core mode??
You would be better off leaving it at 1.4ghz in quad core mode.
That seems pointless.

Hello forum,
I have followed through the steps to root my Galaxy 5 player and I'm interested in over clocking it for better performence towards games and all around use. Can someone guide me on which application, what speed to set it on, or a break down about the good and bads of overclocking? This would be my first time doing so and I would appreicate the guidence.
Thank you for your time.
You will need to flash a custom kernel. Look in the development section. It will give you easy answers.

There are applications that can do this, what would the kernel have to do with me over clocking?

There are many applications in google play to help you overclock(OC)/underclock(UC). The most popular ones seem to be Tegrak Ultimate and SetCPU. Both pretty much do the same thing (with a few exceptions one being SetCPU tends to give you a bit more information to look at), however these two you have to pay for. Some free alternatives (albeit you will only get the basic functionality) are AnTuTu CPU Master (Free) and No-Frills CPU Control. These two give (along with the ones mentioned before) you the basic functions to OC/UC, Undervolt, Set the Governor, Set the I/O scheduler, and some other tweaks you can do.
The good thing about overclocking is that it has the potential fix lag problems on your device, make games run smoother, and etc
The bad thing about overclocking is that it makes your CPU work harder (meaning that it could damage it if you OC for very long periods of time), makes your device run hotter, and reduces battery life.
The kernel is the thing that gives you the ability to OC/UC. Most kernels are setup default to OC to 1.2 ghz. But you can go much higher than that. I know with Tegrak Ultimate you can OC to 1.3 ghz, however some people have OC'ed the 5.0 to 1.5 ghz. You must install (Flash) a kernel in order to overclock or underclock the CPU.
This is a list of all the custom kernels/roms for all the Galaxy Players currently out. I believe most have instructions to help you flash a new kernel/rom. Just make sure you are flashing one that is meant for YOUR DEVICE, or you will brick it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457
This is from XDA http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HMdOlxOee0o that talks about Rooting and Overclocking
This is another video showing you how to overclock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457 (pretty much the same thing for all android devices.
Hope this helps you out.
Tegrak Overclock works fine. Overclocked to 1.3GHz with no problem at all. Needs root and custom kernel.
If you have money buy tegrac overclock ultimate..i use on 1.5 ghz just with tiny more voltage and other fq i undervolted so very good speed and battery is also good.

I use Tegrak Overclock ultimate to reach up to 1.5 GHz. But do you really need a custom kernel to overclock?
I think so, I gave No-Frills CPU control and only got the default my player runs on. I just don't like the custom kernal for the USA Galaxy Player 5 because it doesn't last as long (charging and discharging) as the stock kernal does.

Well that's strange because I remember before I flashed a new kernel I was still able to overclock past stock

No frills cpu control is NOT overclocking tool..onlu overclocking tool on galaxy player is tegrack overclock. And depends what you want ..slow device but few hours more to last or much faster device but recharging almost every night..difference in speed on GP betwen 1 ghz and 1.5ghz is just huge.

Here my voltages, +50~75 mV from the freeze value for each freq. (i don't have tegrak ultimate, so I use Voltage Control by xan):
1200Mhz 1250mV
1000Mhz 1150mV
800Mhz 1075mV
400Mhz 925 mV
200Mhz 850 mV (limited by app)
100Mhz 850 mV (limited by app)
This on rj14 kernel, on rj12 i can go even much lower without any freeze/reboot don't know why...
Another very strange thing is that I've tested a lot some lower voltages with some benchmark/stress/games tests, all passed, but as soon as I made a search on Play Store the device freezes with artefacts on screen.

I've already tried many of these application, even NSTools, but Voltage Control is perfect for me.
The reason is that in all these other application I tried, the voltage value you insert is not controlled, you can even go to 5V for example (yes I mean 5000mV), and this does not make me safe!
Tegrak Ultimate should be perfect too, I think, with its bar for voltage control and not an edit box.

Sorry for bad english, Its not my native language.
Sony's ICS is badly optimized. If you want lagless gaming, stick with GB.
I wouldn't use 1.6ghz tho, 1.4ghz is the highest possible safe frequency considering that arc s with msm8255t cpu is clocked at 1.4ghz by default.
1,4ghz is enough for me for many games ive installed, especially for PS1 games
games setting must be interactive gov 249mhz - 1,4ghz with i/o sio.

Keep a clean system with enogh free RAM.
GB is ideal for gaming.
If on ICS, get the latest adreno drivers for it.
As anonymous said, OC-ing to 1.4GHz max i safe, dont go overkill and fry your device!
Set minimum CPU freq. to 250MHz and a good governor. Maybe changing gov to performance, just while gaming....
Also, find a tweak package that works best for you.

Hi everybody.
It would be nice if someone could make Kernel/Rom with possible GPU overclock.
By my knowledge in Xperia P is Mali-400MP with 1 (i find somewhere 2) core fragment with default speed 200Mhz.
In older SGS2 there is Mali-400MP4 on stock 267Mhz.
Is there a way for safe overclock Mali GPU in Xperia P to 267Mhz or maybe 240Mhz?
Best regards
no, not yet, and maybe never.
it will only gives problems (battery drains much faster, phones become very hot etc.)
NovaThor chips are designed for low power consumption, also overclocking the Cpu the heat produced still low.
I think that the biggest problem is the driver of chip and its documentation
mali 400 stock Frequency min 240 max 395. why give problems (except for battery )

Overclock only turn your phone to heater and energy eater, no to lamborgini

Is this possible atleast?

Hello community,
I have installed on my Droid DNA CM10.2, without problems.
UNLOCK
S-OFF
Root
But unfortunately, I have seen that works only one of the four cores!
After a long search I found a CPU Editor for DualCores and Beta QuadCore. But unfortunately this does not at all - the version for DualCore works fine.
Has anyone similar experiences or can someone give me a tipp?
It is this mod: "CPU Editor QC Beta 1" from Smokin1337
It shouldn't need all four cores on unless you're running something that's cpu intensive. Normally it's set to use one core and as workload ramps up the other cores come online.
I run AnTuTu Benchmark and switch to CPU-Z = one core at 1512 MHz overall 25% Load!
CPU Benchmark the same result, one core and the rest ist "stopped".
Any idea?

It seems to be a stock kernel problem, try running crpalmers kernel.
AnTuTu score (without CPU Editor) 11247 and with DualCore Fix 13978
