[Q] Sync Desktop App with Android using .NET - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a desktop application running in .NET which communicates with the database server.
I am writing an app to capture some data randomly. Then I would like to communicate my android app with the desktop application to transfer the data.
Connectivity: USB
Problem: I am stuck at the communication method between desktop app and android app. I need to be able to retrieve data from android app (stored in SQLITE) using my desktop application (written in .NET). Ideally, I would like to extend the desktop application in .NET. Worst case, I can live with other languages preferably Java/C++.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!
Thank you.

Google music beta

I'm using the Google music App and sometimes it will ask for superuser permission. This only started after I was invited to the beta. Anybody know why?

Where did you get the Music.apk from? That application shouldn't be asking for SU access.
Code:
This application has access to the following:
Your accounts
manage the accounts list
Allows an application to perform operations like adding, and removing accounts and deleting their password.
use the authentication credentials of an account
Allows an application to request authentication tokens.
act as an account authenticator
Allows an application to use the account authenticator capabilities of the AccountManager, including creating accounts and getting and setting their passwords.
Network communication
full Internet access
Allows an application to create network sockets.
Phone calls
read phone state and identity
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
Storage
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
Allows an application to write to the USB storage. Allows an application to write to the SD card.
System tools
modify global system settings
Allows an application to modify the system's settings data. Malicious applications can corrupt your system's configuration.
display system-level alerts
Allows an application to show system alert windows. Malicious applications can take over the entire screen.
prevent device from sleeping
Allows an application to prevent the device from going to sleep.
write sync settings
Allows an application to modify the sync settings, such as whether sync is enabled for Contacts.
write subscribed feeds
Allows an application to modify your currently synced feeds. This could allow a malicious application to change your synced feeds.
Nothing in that list requires access to the /system or the /bin file systems of your phone.
I downloaded it off the market. I didn't think it should be asking.

When I got invited the music app downloaded itself on my nook color and my myt4g right after I finished registration. It's never asked for superuser before.

[Q] Remote desktop apps

I have been looking with no success for a remote desktop app that allows me to just view and control a single windows application. I don't want to see the entire desktop when I start it up I just want to see the program that I selected to remotely view. Does anyone know if an android RDP has the ability to do this?

Best APP for managing a database between Android and Windows 10.

I do not know if I am asking in the correct place, or the correct way. I am not a developer and so far attempts to use google to find the answer to my question has been in the form of developer answers which are useless to me since I am not writing a program. I am looking for one.
I am trying to build myself a database. On my desktop I can use Open Office Base to do this, but the database is only accessible on my desktop.
I have tried Momento database app and its desktop counterpart, but its limited to 3 tables only unless I buy a monthly subscription and it relys on an external web service to function.
I have looked at the Cellica program for syncing database, but it does not support the Open Office Base format, and Open Office can not export to MS Access format.
What I am looking for is the best free database program for my desktop which has an android app, which I can use to sync my database between my android tablet and my desktop over wi-fy when I'm at home.
If its good enough I may even consider a paid program, as long as there is no subscription fee.

Need help with Remote Desktop Client on Android

I would like to use an android as a Windows 10 PC terminal. I'm using a Samsung Fold3 running Android 12 if it matters. It seems like a fairly simple process. Enable Remote Desktop on the Windows 10 PC. Make sure the PC's firewall (and virus protection software) passes Remote Desktop access. Install Remote Desktop Client on the Android and setup the connection to the PC.
The Remote Desktop Client sees the PC, fills in the active user account and requests the user password. I can enter the password but the android does not respond to the "Continue" button and all I can do is cancel out of it. I can also try to edit the PC configuration to setup a user account so that a password does not need to be entered each time but in this case the save button is unresponsive whether or not a password is entered.
This same thing happens whether I select the PC found on the local wifi or I enter the PC's IP address manually (with or without the 3389 port number).
Can anyone give me a clue as to what I'm doing wrong or how to proceed?
Sorry. User error. I was doing something stupid.
Never mind.

Thanks for the link.
My initial problem was just a usage error getting Microsoft Remote Desktop Client to work when on the same network. I fixed that issue and am able to use it to control my PC from an android as long as I'm on the same local network which is useful but I would also like to be able to do it from anywhere on the internet.
Your link led to a discussion of this issue with the possibility of using port forwarding or a VPN to allow access to my PC from an external network with varying degrees of complexity and hacking potential.
The link also discussed using chrome and a google account to access my PC remotely. This is unacceptable because I won't use chrome and have uninstalled it from all my android devices plus although I do have a Google account, I only use it to explicitly download apps from the store and otherwise disable Google Play Services and the Google Play Store and will not use any app that requires Google Play Services to function. So this option is out.
The final option requires me to create an account at a third party site and presumably direct all of my traffic through this third party. This too is unacceptable to me.
So the question is, is there a simpler method to access my PC from an android device that's on a different network than having to setup a vpn or enabling port forwarding on my router, that doesn't require registering for and using a third party service to accomplish the goal?
