[Q] Stable ICS Stock ROM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm currently running stock ICS ROM and it's terrible. Various apps crash constantly. Can anyone suggest a stable ICS ROM?

there is nothing like a Stable Rom/Kernel/Modem ma8
u have to try a cpl of them and see the one that suits ur needs, since the stable for one may not be the same for another, due to diff in usage pattern
and also asking which ROM/KERNEL is stable is against XDA rule for ur Kind Info
please check the link below if u have missed the same.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881

I did read that thread prior to posting. Im not asking what the best ROM is. Im asking for the most stable based on user experience.

best = most stable, You just worded your thread slightly dofferent trying to get around the rule.
You have to try different roms for yourself as everyone opinion is different. What one person likes you may not like.

Do you like it when your apps crash?

Either try more roms or go back to stock. Apps crashing is one of the risks you sign up for when you flashed a rom...

So do you know anyone else who likes it when their apps crash? It is a stock ROM.

nobody else likes it when apps crash but we all experienced them. If you want a stable rom you should not have flashed your phone.
Have though it might be your apps are not compatible with your phonr that is why they keep crashing. It is not necessarily the rom but app is the problem.

So I gather that no one likes crashed apps. So my question was, which stock ROM seems the most stable, not which ROM you like the most.
????

IOS probably wouldn't that stable with the SG2 so we can rule that one out. A lot of people like it though.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2

Cosmic, its an ICS issue. I suspect its the ROM. Am using the polish stock version but I hear there are more stable regional ROMs. Putting some feelers out there to see what others are using that have had success. One must start somewhere instead of arbitrarily flashing ROMs.

You can use GB or wait for JB.
I dont use ics......think its a load of crap.

And that's what people here trying to explain you. Because people use their phones differently, its stability is different. You can look up the biggest rom-threads and decide for yourself what you think is important for a rom, and as you have a stock rom now, I would start at the Samsung-based ones (like Neatrom or WanamLite).

When do you think ICS is going to be released; should I install an ICS-based ROM?

When do you think ICS is going to be released for the Note? I've been holding out on installing custom ROMs, but if it's still going to be a while, I might as well do it.
Also, which ROMs (ICS) are the best? Is the battery life better or worse? Are there a lot of bugs?
I never try any custom Rom yet but usually there is always bugs on custom roms. I just suggest u wait for the official ics.

I'm using the unofficial. Then stripped out every last bit of bloat before installing apps. Vastly better than stock and only one rom flash. Plus the -k holokernel. My guess is ICS official won't come out until late May or June at the earliest. Even after that there will be custom roms based on it so I'm not going to bother until a good custom rom based on the official ICS comes out.

There are some great custom roms. Much better then any Sammy crapwiz stock rom.

Be nice. Everything in any kind of forum is subjective.
I could also say you dont know what you're talking about if that's my opinion.
Im a senior software engineer who simply does not have the time to even look at Roms.
Does that make me "nuts?"
ICS seraphim is awesome. Works very smooth and is polished. There are very few known issues with most of these roms, nothing that should be a deal breaker for anyone.
Apex launcher is infinately better than touchwiz.
Also, ics stock revamped is another great rom ported over by smartguy044.

Reading will tell you all of the features in less time than it takes somebody else to look them up for you, type a response, and for you to read their response. Trying out the roms yourself will show you everything and you can figure out your own likes and dislikes of every ROM.

New to the i777

I came from an Atrix 2 with about 2 months of iOS usage in between. I'm currently stock 4.0.3 rooted with Cherrypicker V 3.1. I was wondering what some people considers to be the better ROM or combination of different mods. I helped a lot and became a senior member from the Atrix 2 thread but I've been gone for a while. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have tried half a dozen or so different roms, and the one that I keep coming back to is Shostock2. His latest release (4.0) is very stable, but it still needs some features added in that were in some of his previous releases. If you are looking for a balance of features, get Shostock2 (3.1.2).

Personally I liked Task's AOKP for some time, but recently flashed CM9 - and probably will stick with it until more stable Jelly Beaner...for stock - ShoStock is my choice
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
You came at a pretty good time. Most ROMs are really stable and Jellybean is just about to hit. What I like to do is play around with different ROMs and see which one I like best. It's what makes Android fun! For a ROM recommendation, I'd have to say SHOstock (if you want that stock TW feel) or task's AOKP (stock Android, plenty of customization)
I know everyone's already said those two but they really are good ROMs. Of course there are other good ones too, so go explore

As myself and Red5 maintain, the best ROM is the one that works for you. It may take a few hours, but give a few a try, and see which YOU like the best.
As the general rule in this board, "vs" threads are no-go, so I am going to close this here (our board was a mess before this rule, with masses of "vs" threads popping up everywhere)...

Task and ktoons AOKP is a favorite. Works well and is stable. As is lilchris' PhoneBricker. Both are ICS.
Have only used those two, used many kernels, but like the roms, it's up to the user to decide what is best for them.

That looks like the international GS2, but as for CM... Never run it so I can't tell you if it's stable (from my experience) or not.
However, another good option would be ShoStock. Never run it, but it's got a great following so shoman must be doing something right!
As was said above me, by some random asshat who also has developed a ROM of his own, try taking a look at the development section and reading up a little on the roms available. Also, make a nandroid backup and then give a ROM a try. Give it a week, try other kernels if it seems a bit choppy. Then try another room if you aren't satisfied.
Once you find one you like, supercharge that mofo!

And dont make VS topics, theres more then enough post in each forum to show you what people think about the roms
cm10=buggy nightlies that work pretty well tho.
androwook 1.2=tf300 JB port
androwook 1.0=cm10 based rom
androwook ICS 2.6=ics based on official rom that is much faster than the stock one.
Well, thread should be moved and that should answer your question too... and I totally agree with msfguard's post!

A really valid question... Is a matter if you want go with stock JB or ASUS JB. Both are quite good, but in my personal opinion, I like to stick with original rom as based which is the case of Androwook (TF300T base... but quite similar to TF201). On the other hand CM10 is easy to install and have way more support. Hope it helps...
So is some stuff in androwook that are missing in cm10 like specify asus setup option? To customize the pad i mean?

CM10 is still in nightly builds so you won't get some of your components working and still will have lots of bugs, Stock jb is currently better... But still i wont tell you to use it, try stable roms like revolt which is based on CM10.
Try rephrasing your question like "which rom is advised or suggested CM10 or stock JB? "

Between the two CM10 is faster but graphics processing might be slightly less buggy in the stock, anyway the current stock jb is a leaked version and it won't be the same as an official stock version. I recommend you use CM9 stable if looking for a great gaming experience. Or if you are insistent on JB then look at other custom roms like the one I mentioned before.
