[Q] JellyBam 20121120 : UpdateMe activity 'missing' - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I installed JellyBam 20121118 (and later 20121120) on SGS2. Rom looks and feel great.
Only that whenever I go to Settings > Update Center. It FC. I installed Catlog and found following message
AndroidRuntime : android.content.ActivityNotFoundException:Unable to find explicit activity class {com.acquariusoft.Updateme/com.acquariusoft.Updateme.UpdateMeActivity): have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifext.xml

I tried to find but this app is not available in app folder or even in /system/app
* Kernel : Siyah 5.0.1
* Primary Rom : Supernexus 5
* JellyBam is installed as secondary rom
* JellyBam installed with all options tick
* After install, wiped Dalvik + Fix permission
The issue of Update Center FC occurs in both 20121118 and 20121120 builds.

Anyone please.
Or any pointers that may help me identify/fix the issue.
Sorry for being Noob.

I've left a link to this thread in my post in the Jellybam thread, so hopefully someone from over there will be able to come and help you out

I checked installed apps (ALL). No such app is there. Not even with a different name having 'update' as part of it.

They are changing servers and needs to upload the contents again. This is not top prio for now, but eventually, this will get resolved.
If you want this tracked, please raise topic in this forum:

Thanks. Even though I remember someone at the Jellybam thread referring to a valid 'Update center' and having access to diff patches, mods etc.
The question here is - If its a server issue, then at least the app would start and post a 'not reachable' message. What actually happens is it simply FC. And catlog too shows the app/activity is missing.
Still as you said, I will wait for the servers to be ready before validating this part.

Unmount memory card and try to install it again you can remount afterwards.
I think my real problem is with the ads-blocker that dont let medscape get to update and download (They say this in their app page on google play). I can install the app but cant get it to download the content needed. So how can i deactivate ad-blocker or another way to get pass this situation?
Sorry if its a noob question, but i really would like to install ICS and have this app

Remove add blocker or read its instructions to revert hosts file and update .
It works for me but i do not use ICS .

Stated Fixes don't work
I've tried the above methods w/ no avail. Medscape still does not work offline. "Internet connectivity interrupted"
Nexus 7 running android 4.1.1
Rooted w/ Wugfresh
Adfree NOT installed
superSU # installed
busybox free installed
host files (in etc/ and system/etc) don't show anything except "host 127.0.0.1"
works fine w/ internet connection, but would like to have it without.
updates fine as well...just doesn't show offline content for some reason...

If you have installed ad-blocker / custom rom / rom toolbox, then please remove and try again. However, when ad-blocker is the issue the app clearly mentions it and i am sure you must have tried it.
How i got it to work
Go to settings ------> developer options -----> uncheck 'Don't keep activities'
This worked for me and a friend of mine.
Hope it helps.

[FIX][SOLUTION] Copy/Paste Crash

Hi guys,
my phone started crashing when I copy things and I couldn't paste anymore. So I googled and found this fix but many people keep saying do "full wipe" or "factory reset" and still most people don't like wiping their phone. you DONT need factory reset !!
There are two fixes and both require root:
Does NOT work for JB !! only ICS 4.0.4
a) To be able to do this guide you MUST be rooted!!...............
1. boot recovery (CWM) > advanced > wipe dalvik cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer > delete /data/clipbord/* (Star or asertik "*" means everything inside)
3. reboot recovery again > advanved > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > it's fine
b) This also requires ROOT...
1. Root Explorer > delete /data/clipbord/* (Star or asertik "*" means everything inside)
2. Settings>Application Management>All(tab)>>Scroll down to>>TestService and clear its data
3. reboot phone > it's fine
Re-booting is a very important step please don't skip it !!
I got this from a different forum, I tried the first method and it worked for me and I hope this works for you all  Good luck !!
JB Users try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31128304
All credits go to Jkay for the JB fix, I just added it here to put the fixes in one place .

The clipboard folder has to be there but the problem is the test service app, clear its data or uninstall updates.
The best way to fix it is to factory reset... but I hope we will find a better way

little solution for jb (OMEGA V19)
hello to all guys :fingers-crossed:
for my first post I will show you a small solution
Copy function (double tap) works on any application
1) first copy what you want (double tap)
2) move to another application and write something example (hello)
3) Now with DOUBLE TOUCH NOT A LONG PRESSURE on (hello) will appear on the top menu and press paste
thanks guys hope to be helpful
I use OMEGA ROM V19 WITH MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 WITH LONG PRESS BUG.
After I cleared its data, the Test Service went blank, as seen in the attached picture.
If I double tap, the blue arrow shows, but nothing else, no paste icon. If I long press, almost all applications FC.

Ok, by now if the issue has not been solved, then your only option now is to post three more posts somewhere in the general section. Then you will be able to post in the development section. At that point go to the gangnam style thread and post your issue with dastin. What recovery, kernel, what you have tried to do to fix your issue and post it with a logcat. If you do not know how to log cat. There's a app on google play called catlog reader. Download it and make a few phone calls with it to someone(ask if they can help with being a test call on your issue first). After that, go into catlog pause the log reader, then go to settings and look for the paste or copy section option and just place the beginning and ending bar where the issue is with the phone calls and copy it. It will make a folder in your sdcard called catlog. There you can post your catlog along with the nature of the problem on his thread. I apologize that I could not help you resolve your problem. Hopefully dastin can help fix the problem for you.

It has been resolved. I'm guessing it was bad flash. I re-downloaded the ROM and gapps. wiped and flashed. Started working as of then and as i was installing apps I would check to make sure it was still working. So it was wither a bad flash or a voicetalk.apk that i used to use.

I've just rooted my phone today...

and I'm having problems after doing it. Gallery is empty and states there are no items, any music appears in the music player...

go settings about phone- post your rom version. The link you posted is incomplete it does not tell me what rom you posted.
I know it most be a custom rom as you had pit enabled.
Most roms do not use pit, therefore you may have to reflash the rom again to regain the missing apk or find someone who has your rom and ask them to get you a copy of the missing files.

Since you have done wipe data, you have lost all your pictures and music, any thing saved on the internal sdcard is gone. You need to reload your pictures and music if you made a back up.
Next time save them to your external sdcard so they will be there after a wipe.

How to disable OTA Update Notification for Root users?

I can't seem to find which program to freeze in Titanium Backup. Any ideas out there?

You can try freezing 'lgfotapermission' app using Titanium Back up. It's just my guess. No guarantees. YMMV.

Thanks - I found it, and froze it, however I'm still getting the notification. Even after reset. Odd.
I believe the update check code is embedded into the settings apk. It will need to be re-compiled to prevent this.
If we knew what URL the device is getting its updates from we can block it with a hosts entry.
I found some info here on disabling the update notification for anyone who is still interested.

It looks like you need to freeze these two apps in Titanium Backup:

Doesn't seem to work as update notification is still popping up on my P769.
This is how I stoped my phone from updateing and nagging. ( Must be rooted )
1. Download and install ( system tuner apk from playstore )
2. Launch system tuner and choose ( system with the red icon )
3. Choose (Google services framework ) and hit (details)
4. Scroll down to services and uncheck ( update.systemUpdateService
Thats all.

While I can't vouch for anything else besides the P675 10e Tmobile version, the following method will stop the update prompts. It *should* work on all ICS and JB devices, including Nexus.
0. Root, if you haven't already.
1. Download AutoRun Manager
2. In ARM, choose "Advanced"
3. Touch the wrench icon, and check
- Show System Entries
- Enable System Application Disable
4. Back on the application list, tap the refresh (circle arrow) icon if you don't see system apps. They should have a red background.
5. Find the app Google System Framework (aka: GSF) and tap it.
6. Uncheck the "com.google.<something>.gsf.update.SystemUpdate" receivers. I can't read my own handwriting at the moment, but they both end in SystemUpdate.
Am I the only one who definitely DONOT hit thanks when I see this line "Hit thanks if it helped"?
Thread cleaned. I don't see the reason of this whole argue you had. If someone wants to post hit thanks, let it be. It's definitely not worthy to be discussed. Now you should both excuse each other for jumping the guns for nothing.

This caused a permanent wakelock on SystemUpdateService on my LG Optimus P769, so my phone never went to sleep mode. I even rebooted several times, and checked over several days. As soon as I re-enabled update.systemUpdateService, the phone was able to sleep again. It did seem to prevent the OTA popup from re-appearing, but at a cost of battery life.

Well I used Titanium backup to freeze com.lge.lgfota.permission and I used root explorer to change the lgfota.apk in \system\app folder to lgfota.bak and reboot.
