Silly request, but have you popped out the sim card from the top of the phone and checked for dust/bad connection?

Yes I have..not as silly as it sounds because it's usually those easy things that fix it..but it didn't..still does it every day at least twice since it's been rooted. I just restart the phone when it does it till I figure put what it is .
I think I would try a triple wipe with a clean install

Yeah I've had the same issue a couple times. Popping it in and out seemed to get rid of the error for me, but this morning I woke up and it looked like my phone had lost signal at some point in the middle of the night and not regained it (so basically the same thing as a no sim error) but I never got a no-sim error.
On one occasion, before I popped it in/out, I got the error 3 times w/in a ten minute span while I was on the phone with someone.
Strange juju.

Ya sounds like the same issue..just flashed the custom Rom that hansoon posted in the development page and I haven't had it happen yet. So we shall see.
So this still keeps happening about 5-10 times a day...cleaned out the SIM card tray and nothing works. Tried stock Rom and the 2 roms available for att and nothing..
I'll take it in Saturday when I'm off work and just ask for a new phone . Anyone else having this issue or did I just get Bad one. Seems like everyone is having issues with the Bluetooth and WiFi while I'm having this and not those issues.
It just happened again as soon as I did my last post. Check out the screen shot
I have also had this happen to me a few times. The first couple times I would just reboot. This last time I popped the sim out and re seated it and I haven't had the issue since.
Seeing that this looks to be only an AT&T issue, could it be due to poor quality SIM cards?
Any correlation with LTE vs. non LTE SIMs?
I'm on AT&T and rooted on thanksgiving. Last Tuesday it happened and reboot worked then Friday night it happened again. Reboot didn't work at first and I wasn't at home so I didn't have the tool and couldn't find anything to do it. After 3 reboots and some serious shaking of the phone (which probably didn't do anything) it finally worked.
It just happened again to me. Phone was lying on the table for a while was fine when I set it down and about 30-45 minutes later when I checked the time it said no SIM. When I get home I'm going to take it out and clean it and see if I can figure it out.
Never Die!
I've had this issue a few times myself. I took my SIM card out and cleaned everything and have yet to have it happen again

i'm not rooted yet but it seems I've had it for a while now even got a new sim card. it got worse popped it out. turns out it wasnt on the sim tray securely. it's easy to do as the sim card doesn't sit flush. you just got to cram it on the trey without breaking it. and carfully slide it in your phone. havent had it since it happened about 6 times yesterday. oh and you dont have to restart the phone. you can simply put it in airplane mode and it wil come back
Hapens to me on my telus device running maximus. Gonna try a reseat first turn rom change if reseat is useless.

after ~ 6 days, it started yesterday. several times in like 3 hours, and again this morning and this afternoon
really love the phone, and i don`t wanna send it back yet. still have few days till i can return if the problem persists
I think this probably has to do with the sim card being properly seated in the tray securely and then carefully placed into the phone as noted above.
The reason I say this is because I ordered my HOX+ from Walmart Wireless and when I received it the 'paper' around the phone was ripped at the top by the sim card tray and they had already removed the tray and inserted the new sim card for me.
At the time I thought it was kind of odd that they bothered to do that. Mainly because most people are more than capable of putting a sim card into a little tray and placing it in their phone. Also, there is a little key inside the box meant specifically for opening the sim tray.
However, reading about the various issues some of you have had, I feel I have a pretty good understanding of why they do that with HTC phones. At least the HOX+ anyway.
The thoery is that they've probably had a number of them returned for this exact issue, so they found that by carefully placing the Sim in themselves they can avoid unnecessary returns.
Of course this is just my theory, but, it makes a lot of 'sense' to me, lol. One thing to note is that you might want to try and file off the little bumps that form on the edges of the sim card. They are left over from the area where it is attached to the bigger 'business card' thing that surround a new sim card. No idea if that will help, but, it is very unlikely to cause any problems if you try.
Anyways, kinda long, but, hopefully helps some of your to get yours seated just right. Had my phone about two weeks and I've not yet seen the issue.
well no matter what i did it kept happening. I called att and they transfered me over to warranty. They sent me a new phone and i received it this last tuesday. I rooted it That night and im on the Blackout rom for att. No issues as of yet. we will see.....

Hi folks.
I just got myself a brand new Lumia 800 (from o2, but sim unlocked)
At the beginning everything went well and the phone was running great.
Then yesterday evening the problems started. First there was a synching problem with my office365 account. I figured out it was a problem with one of the contacts (apparently the same bug that already existed for GMAIL accoutns in WP7).
After that the phone started rebooting itself on several occassions. Sometimes even without me doing anything, even doing another reboot right after it already rebooted once.
It's pretty hard to track down what is responsible for it. It happens a lot of time when I read emails, although not only (for example it just rebooted during Nokia Navigation, I was not even touching the phone, just driving with the navigation on...)
Has anybody had similiar problems? It's seriously annoying.
I even did a hard reset - made no difference. Set up everything new etc.
update
Update: It might be an issue with my sim card, phone seems to run fine without it. Luckily I'll get a new one activated on Tuesday, so I'll wait and retry then again
Curious, did you get a new microSIM when you got the phone or hand cut to fit?

Hand cut. Interestingly it worked for 3 days straight without any problems and then suddenly it started, that's why I didn't think the problem might be the SIM card.
Interesting to know that dodgy contacts (which I think might be the issue) cause immediate reboots
Interesting conclusion, I hand cut mine and so far, so good. Will bear this in mind though, you never know.
BUT
Just removing the SIM doesn't discount it, as it disables the cell radio, it could be related to that rather than the SIM itself.
I'll see on Tuesday when my new SIM gets activated. I'll report back how it works out

Update
Update: The problem really was the loose SIM card. Zero problems with the new Micro-SIM. Phone runs perfectly. I love it.
So if you ever encounter reboot loops you might wanna check your SIM
Great stuff, lets hope my home brew microSIM holds out then.
Obvious fault of the old SIM card. With me on the forum were also such cases.

Well, just an update. Took it to the VZW store this morning as I had a message on the lock screen "PUK locked, contact customer support". They replaced the SIM card at the store, and away I went. About an hour later, bam, no SIM card error again. Took it back to the store and they replaced the device and got yet another SIM card with that phone. Been 4 hours now with no problems. Hopefully all is good now...

Well, I guess that means your first one didn't make it a week either, considering the release date was less than 10 days ago.
I had the SIM Card error happen to me again yesterday morning, also. Unfortunately, I don't think keeping this phone is in my foreseeable future. To be quite honest, to the naked eye, I really can't see a visable difference between this phones screen, and the S3's screen anyways. Even the Maxx HD for that matter. Next, because of the lack of an external SD card, and capped off with an unremovable battery, these basic features that are lacking have sold me on a pass of the DNA. Yesterday, I was on the road, and my battery died around 6PM (~10 hours). Usually, I could swap a battery at this time and keep going. Instead, I was swapping my SIM card TO ANOTHER PHONE just to keep going. That's when I realized I can't keep using the DNA as a reliable business tool.
Sorry HTC, you missed the mark on this gorgeous device. So close. Like putting snow tires on a Ferrari...

I had this issue a few times in the beginning as well. Took the phone to the Verizon store and they couldn't make heads or tails of it. I popped the sim out, gave it a cleaning with an eraser, and popped it back in, pushing it in as hard as I could with my thumb and haven't had the issue since.
I noticed that it happened a lot if I were to bang on the top of the phone, sort of like packing a pack of cigarettes. It was almost like the SIM card wasn't all the way in and when the phone got jarred a little, the sim would move just enough to cause the error.

Unfortunately, I've tried that. I've had a SIM card error pop up in the middle of the nite while it's on it's charging pad without touching it.
mine has done it a couple times, but usually when I'm in an area for a period of time where it's struggling to get signal. Like at my house when the weather was poor and it was usually on 0-2 bars is when it happened the first time, then when I was in town some place for a while where there were a lot of other phones and signal usually shows 3-4 bars, but still has poor connectivity is when it happened the second time.
OK question for those that have gotten the error, did you happen to change your preferred network from Global to LTE/CDMA? Reason I asked was because this is the only thing I remember changing about 5-7 hours prior to seeing the error message on both DNA's. I changed back to Global, popped the SIM card out and back in, and haven't had an error since Friday now. And it was bad Friday, probably happened 6-7 times.

I had this issue a few times with the first DNA I had - I took out the SIM, put it back in, and rebooted and it was fine after that. Recently (with a different DNA), after dropping it a few times, I've noticed that it's been happening again more frequently (2-3 times a day). Not sure what's causing it, or if dropping it affected it at all.. usually a reboot fixes it, but that's not exactly a permanent solution.

Just got off the phone with Verizon and they are going to send me a new device. I guess the SIM card issue is a hardware issue, not the update and they are aware of it. I told them about reseating and replacing the SIM card but they claimed that eventually the issue would come back if I'm on the same device. Problem solved.
mine had that issue after i dropped it one day. i just took the sim card out, blew into the slot nintendo cartridge style, and put the card back in. made sure the sim card was securely in there and booted the phone back up. no problems since then. my guess is that the slot doesn't fit the sim card tightly enough so any large impacts (i.e. dropping your phone) will jar it enough that it won't read properly
No drops, pristine device, the only thing that appears to have happened is the update, which now causes the SIM card problem.
I had it three times, rebooted twice, which seemed to temporarily cure the problem. Reseated it and rebooted, and haven't yet had an issue. However, prophylactically called VZW, and almost immediately they were discussing a warranty swapout. It arrives today. Since I haven't had an issue in ~12 hours, I'm going to let it ride for a few days. Better to have the device I bought new than the devil I don't know, I figure, plus the additional hassle of changing all my data over from a phone without an SD card slot.
Will update again if I continue to have the error, but to their credit, VZW appears to be well abreast of the situation.

Thanks for the post. Haven't had the issue (yet), but good to know that VZW is keeping up with their customers.
LOL... got the issue 6 times in a day. Got the new device and the 'certified pre-owned' rebooted while I was re-installing my apps and won't turn back on. When I tried to turn it on all that would happen is the softkeys would flash. That's it. LAME. I sent it back and told them that I'll stick it out with the current device. I had data reset the device that I was originally exchanging and ended up putting all the stuff back on. Funny enough, no issues yet. Screw the pre-owned.
Love my dna but ......
I was having the same problem, so I called a Verizon rep and they told me that they're working in a software fix in a future update.... Lol i told them that this was unacceptable and that when this happens I can't even dial 911!Long story short they're sending me a free galaxy note 2, which is too bad because I freaking loved my dna... I read somewhere to rub off the wax on the SIM with an eraser. Just do it lightly till it comes off. I've had no issues since. I had this problem back in April and it seemed to stop after the OTA. Started up again about a week ago and was much more frequent. Swung by a VZW store a couple days ago and got the SIM replaced - since then I haven't had any SIM issues.
I'm getting this issue on cm10.1. Yesterday I got the sim card error and rebooted, and woke up to it this morning (apparently the phone won't charge via wireless with this message so my battery was also very low). I am also having headphone jack problems so I'm thinking it may be time to call verizion.
Try cleaning it and not touch the contacts on the SIM card when reinstalling. I had that issue and hasn't happend since cleaning SIM card. Not saying that's the issue for everyone and adding tape also sounds like a reasonable solution. Just sayin

Ha. Latest update with my SIM issue. Actually got sick of Verizon's runaround. Called HTC direct and they acknowledged the issue. They desribed the issue as a problem with the SIM tray. They are repalcing the tray. I will report back about how this works out. I think that its total crap that Verizon just keeps replacing the devices without replacing the tray. To pile it on, getting a replacement device seems to void the manufacturers warranty and replaces it with a 30 day warranty because its a replacement device. I'm really growing tired of Verizons lack of support and their inability to get on the same page as the manufacturers.

It is probably some type of a hardware problem, from my experience. The biggest supporter of this is that Verizon's latest patch does nothing but to tell the phone to restart the radios. It is just putting a bandaid on the problem and not doing anything.
I was just about to trade mine in for a new one when i tried the tape fix. Works perfectly ever since. I was skeptical too, but just try it. It really can't hurt.
I had it happen once since I've had it since January. Happened about a month after getting it. Cleaned the Sim contacts and havent had an issue since.

Have you tried popping open the tray and wiggling the card and then simply sliding it back in? Whenever my phone doesn't detect a sim card I just restart it. When it still doesn't work I pop it out and in again. It's annoying, but it doesn't happen often enough to really bother me. If it is of concern, see if your local store can help you out.

I thought I read somewhere that the store you got the phone from might be of some help in this regard if it is an issue with the tray. Of course, if you've been hearing that it is predominantly a software issue, then I have no advice to offer. Sorry.

i already try 3-4 different cards. My card works on other phones so it must be somethign with the phone.
Mine did that a couple months after I bought it ... took it back to the store and they sent it away for some kind of software update. It still did it a few times after that, although it's probably been a couple of months now with no occurrences at all. Some people say to put some tape on the back of the card to make it fit tighter. So I don't know if it's software or hardware. Although when it happened, if I put the phone in airplane mode and back out again, it worked fine, so that leads me to believe it really is software.

Send it in for repair with Samsung.
It seems like it may be a problem with the SIM card part. You may want to try replacing it yourself, but no guarantees.

No sim card weird solution in my case
I had this problem for a week and got rid of this problem by un-installing the following
1. Facebook
2. Whats App Messenger
3. AVG antivirus
After un-installing each one of them, shutdown the phone, restart the phone after 30 Sec and check whether your NO SIM problem disappears. not install one more application and go on.
Ive had the same problem with my note i717 and have factory reset, tried a new sim card, and also swapped out the sim card reader with the one from my wifes i717 with no luck. Her phone still works fine (with my sim reader) and mine still has the same issue (with her sim reader installed). It started out only showing the error maybe once every few days then became much more frequent. Now it seems to happen only a few minutes after restarting. Does anyone think this is an issue with the mainboard?
Some people have reported luck with just replacing the SIM card and memory card reader. That didn't work for me.
I ended up buying a used motherboard on eBay for about $80 and replaced the entire thing myself. Thankfully the modular construction of the Note makes it really easy - did it in under 1/2 an hour. Problem solved.
The only thing I stupidly forgot to do is pull is backup the internal hard drive... so I ended up having to put the old board back in and pull everything off of it and then switch the new board back again. *sigh*
thanks!
My phone got wet so i dunked it in rice and it turned on the next day but got the no sim card problem. I followed Your advice and it worked! Thanks a lot!! Saved me from the extra stress and costs.
