Hey Guys,
I just bought my S3 couple of weeks ago. It's performing quite well, but today, I noticed that my battery starting to drain very fast. Surfing internet for few minutes could drop the battery down 2-4% and even when the device is idle. The device is on stock rom jelly bean (maybe JB could be the problem?). I tried factory reset, wipe cache partition though. Not sure if this is normal or abnormal.

Download betterbatterystats. Helped me the other day when my phone kept having its kernel waked. Also disable sync on any apps you dont want, switch bluetooth off, wifi, etc

use the better battery stats app from the play store man it'll show you whats draining your battery so fast:good
Download "Watchdog" and set it to monitor all processes including system ones to see which ones have the highest cpu usage.
Also download "Cpu Spy", and reset the timer in the setting and then leave the phone for an hour, deep sleep should be between 95-98% any lower and you have an app waking up your phone.
John.

First full day using this rom and I'm impressed worked smooth had a few hiccups like airplane mode not working right at first.
But what I'm here to ask is will a "wipe battery stats" work I have no clue as it why I was awake when the screen was off . But my concern is the 30-40% drop in battery life
Any ideas?? thanks in advance

Wiping battery stats won't help you, there's a wakelock issue going on there. I would recommend installing BetterBatteryStats ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 ) and checking into what is keeping your phone awake, be it a system app or user-installed.

Hi,
I have been using the same ROM (cm9.1.0) for about a month now, and just yesterday I realized I was getting horrible battery issues. Nothing has changed recently so I'm very confused. When I look at the battery option on settings, I see the phone process taking 62% of the battery life (when you first open the screen it's called sec-ril then changes to Phone), compared to the screen which is at 15% and everything else which is at 4% or less. Battery life is absolutely horrible now for a reason which I don't understand. I am using UCLF6 on 4.0.4 but I don't know what would have caused the recent change. I would post a screenshot but my screenshot thing is apparently not working at the moment. By clicking the phone process it says "CPU Total: 3h17m14s, CPU foreground 1s, Keep awake 2m 34s, Included Packages: SIM Toolkit, Phone/Messaging Storage, Phone). It may be helpful (or not) to know I have probably used the phone for 10 mins or less the whole day and all of the texting I do is done through Google Voice (as well as most calls).
Thanks if you can provide any help.
I think its obvious you have apps keeping your phone awake. That one was a real head scratcher.
can someone tell me how to fix this all I did was make one phone call that was less than one minute and didn't do anything else and this happened

Try rebooting your phone first and see if it persists. Then repost your battery stats by kernel wakelok.
from a galaxy far far away....
I have started seeing this(sec_ril process draining my battery) too. Sometimes only. Did anyone figure out how to fix it permamnetly.Wiping caCHES fixes it for a few days and then it comes back. I install nigtlies by wiping everything including internal sd card
I just had this start on me within the last day, day and a half, Phone is using 100% CPU forever. Rebooted, checked APNs, etc... Going to try clearing cache although AFAIK that has nothing to do with such things, might try reflashing...
Well, I don't mind eating words sometimes. I had rebooted a few times which didn't help, but wiped cache in TWRP and sec-ril has stopped its nonsense.
Mine started doing this a day after installing CM9.1. I literally have nothing installed on my phone. 20 minutes of usage after being fully charged and it's down to 83% battery, with "Phone" using up 61% and Screen 23% (I'm on minimum brightness). Wth :/
Hello guys,
I flash twice my Xperia U to ICS and I done it well. At frist one, i made without reset factory and the second one with reset factory.
In both cases I got the same problem.
The ICS is draining battery life hard, even in stand by. No mater what, It consumes about 25% for each 4h. Using hard or using nothing.
I instaled GSam Battery Manager and it says its Kernel and Android OS.

When I used gingerbread, my battery lasted almost 2 days easily.
Android version 2.3.7. It lasted 41h and still have 19%.
Please, someone can help? I tried everything i know. No matter if data or wifi is turned on or off, it will consume lot of battery. I tested.
It seens impossible to reach 24h in this situation.
Same here
New ICS su.....
I'd uninstall the task killer and battery defender to begin with, they will drain your battery like crazy.

Try using titanium backup
Freeze all the applications and services which you are not using..
If u do a thorough search in the forumyou wil find the list of services which are safe to freeze
Set maximum cpu usage to 200mhz when screen is off..

Yes definitely u need root
I'm not using my U yet, got a sim in it, but still using my old phone for now. I'm running ICS and am getting 12-15 hours battery with less than 10 minutes use. The rest of the time it's in standby, there's a pretty bad battery bug, I've not figured out what causes it. On GB I was getting 15hours medium use (~3 hours) and would still have 40% battery left. Battery info is showing it as awake the whole time it's on standby.
My phone`s original battery lasts for one day in normal use. I bought a 2680mAh battery in eBay and now I can use my phone all day long without any problem.
Hello,
i recently upgraded my Nexus 9 to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow MRA58K) with the factory image. So the tablet was completly wiped. The system is completly stock, no root.
After that i'm experiencing very poor battery life (see attached screenshot). Basically, i unplugged the tablet this morning (at 100% battery) and it was lying around in the living room all the day, doing nothing and this evening the battery was down to 63%. Battery optimization is turned on.

I don't even know what the process "99113" is doing.
Any suggestions?

If there are only 3 things each using 1 % of the battery life then its sounds like the battery reader isn't properly calibrated. Let it run till it shuts off then plug it in and let it charge back up. If if that solves it. I am rooted but have no real changes that would effect power and I get 3-4 days on my 6.0 install.
As above post. If anything, I am getting better battery life with Marshmallow.

I'm getting better battery as well.....it does take a while for it to calibrate itself after the update.
Here is a screen cap of my battery life:

Okay, after "calibrating" it seems to be better.
But, what i noticed, there seems to be a massive battery drain when connected to a 5 GHz WLAN. Anybody seeing the same thing?

My battery life has been severely degraded as well after installing the OTA update to Marshmallow. I have not tried calibrating the battery and will try that after my battery drains to 0 and the device turns off.
Its better to charge your device before it runs out...
Factory Reset over Recovery
I had the same symptoms like running out of battery in one day doing nothing.
Problem was solved after a factory reset in recovery (Power+Down)
"Battery Calibration" did not work at all
Hi Guys,
After updated to Pie my stock cam isn't taking good pictures in low light...
Every pic that I took now it's almost black and the ambients have a low light.. Even if I put exposition higher, the result is the same. Is in automatic mode.
What I mean is: Before the updated the pictures was fine and now they are black in low light
GCam: (I wasn't using night sight)

I ´ve had several issues after upgrading to pie: bad battery performance, apps were forced to suspend during usage and the camera behaved strange in some situations.
So I decided to do a factory reset and all the issues are gone. Especially the battery performance is better than ever: over the day with 4,5 to 5 hour SOT I´ve still 30% battery in the evening which was only 10% with oreo.
The factory reset doesn´t hurt that much because the samsung cloud backup has really improved (it took almost 2 hours for the complete restore, but it´s worth waiting )
