LG Optimus G Internal mic test with loud environnement.
Internal Mic: http://youtu.be/cBLs2AAjoB4
Headphone mic: http://youtu.be/vuQpVPv9yz0
External mic with Adaptator: http://youtu.be/fUcZYjBOJ7o
I have done several tests with my old Galaxy S here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=815074&highlight=microphone
Everything still apply with the LGOG.
So, basicaly, what it tells us is that you can use an external microphone with an adaptator.
For the adaptator, you can make one yourself,
find the Philips DVDP01 like this one and use only the adapter

Or use the 3.5mm trrs to 3 RCA that can be used for portable DVD player, then use an adaptater to go from RCA to whatever you need.
What this means, also, is that you can use the "line in" of the 4 connector to plug whatever you want for your video.
Il most likely make the adapter with the needed connector in the current weeks, I'll keep you posted on the "How To"

Hi,
I currently have the problem of my handsfree cable from the G1 being too long. This is because I am plugging in my own earphones into the long mini usb cable with headphone jack and the result is a massivly long cable.
I don't like the earphones which come with the phone. I prefer to use In ear earphones.
Does anyone know of any HTC Handsfree kits which come with in ear earphones? Incase anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about (they could be called something different in the US) In Ear Earphones look like this:

I am aware that there are short Mini USB to Headphone Jack adapters but I would prefer something with a microphone also.
However, I am very interested in one of these:

But have been told the G1 won't currently support them? Is there no patch or something which will allow you to wirelessly stream music via bluetooth from the phone?
We are all waiting on google to finish up the bluetooth specs. Currently the G1 only supports the headset and handsfree profiles. A2DP and the others are comming, hopefully soon.
Hey everyone,
Been searching around for a decent Android head unit and stumbled upon these:

I'm interested in a single DIN unit so that the screen can be hidden away when I don't need it. Primary function would be to interface with my Megasquirt ECU and display necessary gauges for me via MSDroid or Shadow Dash.
Those above examples have dual core 1GHz A10 CPUs with 1GB RAM, running Android 4.0. Not too bad.
Does anyone have experience with these particular models? Or any other recommendations.
Something discrete or able to be easily tucked away is important, I have a very minimalist interior and would like to keep it that way.
Trying to find out if it has USB OTG or USB Host, planning to use a USB to Serial RS232 converter. I contacted TradeSolution and they said the head units don't support USB OTG or Host.
I know the units above use WiFi/3G USB dongles, and you can plug a USB hard drive to it. Doesn't that mean it does have OTG/Host functions?
I have misplaced my original micro USB cable and charger.
I just ordered and received what I think/hope is an authentic Samsung cable and charger. I have plenty of aftermarket cables but I wanted to get the real thing to increase the odds that CASUAL/No You Verizon will work when I try it.
The items look/feel real. However, on the end of the cable that has the micro USB connector that plugs into the phone, there is no pin in position #4.
(refer to this diagram for pin positions: kineteka.com/Media/Default/Page/micro-usb-b.jpg)
Can someone verify if their original cable has a pin in position #4?
I understand that pin #4 isn't actually needed for charging/syncing, but this will help me determine if what I got is actually a genuine Samsung cable.
Thanks!
There is no position 4 pin on mine.

Thanks so much for responding AND for posting a pic!
That looks exactly like mine. I think I got the real thing.
Thanks again!
I'm looking for an external sensitive microphone and some software to record onto Note 3. Any ideas?

RODE Smartlav mic works great on the Note 3. Here's a video of it being used with a free app.

With Ultimate Audio Recorder Pro many external mics will work with Android phones (providing they have USB OTG).
Samson mics have an excellent reputation for quality to price ratio, from memory Brian Klug of Anandtech uses one of theirs for their podcasts and had a lot of good things to say about it on Twitter. Amazon have good prices on the Samson stuff.
make a look at http://www.edutige.de/produkte/ - I use some different modells of this microphones for a small Radio Station for live sessions from a smart phone (http://www.radioypsilon.at/mobileslivestudio)

Okay so I know with Bluetooth and can be a LARGE variety of issues going on with connection. But I do not believe it is <Connection> problems that I'm talking about/having issues with.
Anyways, I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 dongle in the back of my computer.
When I go to pair my phone to the computer, it works perfectly. (See screenshot below...)

So as you can see, it is paired, and in Device Manager it shows, along with the adapter, and my S160 headset (Which is disconnected.)
Now my problem being is when I go to Devices and Printers in Control Panel, I see my phone (SCH-i650) But all I see are these options when right clicked...
Now I know my adapter supports Music Streaming, AND headset support etc. etc. because it worked back in Windows 7... Is there any way of getting this support back??? And/Or does anyone know perhaps as to why I am not getting the options for listening to phones audio etc...?
And would anyone be willing to help me figure this out/trouble shoot it? I have no idea where to start.
I would also like to know if it's due to my phone or not.
This is kind of like the options that I would like to see:
On another note, I just tried using the "Send file/Receive file" options, which work perfectly fine... So where is the listen to audio and make phone call options?
