hi!
I've just sold my One X ( with which I was more then satisfied ) because I have to renew my contract so i'm in sweet dillema, which should i go for:
htc one x+ or windows phone 8x?
i've read almoust every test and rewiev there is but still can't make a decision...
unfortunatly I cant test myself the phones cuz there are none displayed where i live and one x+ is yet to be added to my operator's list...so no luck there. i'm very skeptical bout wp8 but also very much drown to it cuz it's something new... damn...hate when having so much to choose from =)
i should mention that with a wp8x i get beats earphones for free and that it's nerely 100$ cheeper than oneX+...
can you share your thoughts??
would apreciate it much.
and sorry for my bad english, i'm not using my phone here, just an lap =)

8x has worse battery life than the one x+ wp8 drains battery like crazy. You're getting a bigger display for the One x+ and a lot more power. Android jelly bean is better than wp8 in my opinion. Windows phone is definitely getting there but it's still not quite there yet and the devs of windows phone 8 said they didn't have time to make a notification centre! I wouldn't want to use an OS where they didn't have time to include such an important feature. In terms of hardware both phones are fantastic so it's really android or wp8 for you to chose between.
I purchased a Nokia 920 on the day of release.
It is a remarkable device. Very smooth, fast, easy to use.
I returned it 6 days later for the HTC one x+.
The Nokia 920 is also very much an iPhone with a Windows logo. Customization is extremely limited.
In the end it was a bunch of small quibbles with WP8, rather than any one particular thing.
There is no replacement for the media player, they are all basically the stock player re-skinned, and the stock player is a cludge.
There is no customization of the calendar tile, you get what windows thinks you should get.
There is no customization of the keyboard.
Can not root the phone to enable tethering - big issue for those of us with unlimited data.
So two of the most important productivity elements, and my primary entertainment element are inferior. Not bad, just inferior.
My one x+ has everything my HTC Inspire had, and more. It is also feels thinner and lighter than the 920 (not sure if either is true, just feels this way).
Android has matured a great deal, and has really come into its own place with 4.0.
Windows seems to be competing with iOS, and will be playing a losing game trying to catch up because iOS is seriously polished.
If you loved you old Android, you will love the one x+, and like the WP8 phone.
If you ever wanted a WP, get a Nokia. Before my Amaze, I was (still am) a Nokia fanboy for 11 years.
If you want an Android phone, I would say the HOX+ is one of the best out.
Personally, I prefer Android over WP due to limit access of the phone.
thnx for your advices... well im all android =) but you have to admit that 8x is just beautiful... last nokia i had was n97mini and i had her less than a month and then bought my first android phone DHD and from then only one OS is for me... i gues i had a doubts cuz it was htc made phone...but i believe i'll go for h1x+... at least, all you guys are here =)

Hello everyone, this is my first post and a quick question.
I just got an HTC HD2 for around 1 month and it's running window mobile. I am not satisfied with it because it lags and lacks many features that even my ipod touch 1g would be better than it, if it was capable of calling that is. However, someone told me that android run really well on HTC HD2. My uncle doesn't mind trading his iphone 4 for my htc hd2 but is it worth it?
For those who experience android, is a HTC HD2 running android better or worse than an iphone 4?
Thank you very much.
lol well it is personal preference but i would swap for the iphone 4 play with it until bored then sell it and buy another hd2 and bank the rest of the cash.
post deleted - forget it, ranting and i cant be arsed.

I think that android has a lot more to offer. And the fact that you can choose which OS you want to run on your phone is awesome as well.

LMAO! I wish I knew what you originally wrote now.
Comments like "phone lags" is pretty lame given the options you have in terms of official patches, ROM and Custom ROMs. No one should be complaining stability and performance if they researched properly.
Dude, my advice would be, that if you even have to ask go with the iphone 4.
I bought a windows mobile device, not a device i like that happens to be running windows mobile if that makes sense. So if you think its laggy then the feautures of it clearly aren't at the forefront of your requirements.
If i wanted a phone i could shake and it make light sabre noises, and use as an ipod and charge up every time i'm in one mile of a plug socket...I would buy an iphone 4 lol
they both have there pros and cons but give me a hd2 any day
I am in a purchasing dilemma since my Diamond died. I have HD2, Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire in my list.
Let me try to write what I have in mind. Pardon me if I offended anyone but these are purely my opinion.
Looks: HD2 has the sleekest design, Samsung Galaxy S isn't bad either but I don't like the curved corners in HTC Desire.
Winner: HD2
Screen: SGS has 4" S-AMOLED. HD2 doesn't but has got 4.3" gorgeous display. HTC Desire is somewhat in the middle, offering 3.7" SLCD.
Winner: SGS. Runnerup: HD2
Camera flash: SGS doesn't have a flash. I assume HD2 has a better dual LED flash than Desire.
Winner: HD2
OS: This part is what I hate and largely contributes to my dilemma. SGS and HTC Desire runs on Android natively, which I think these devices have a long time to be developed before they become obsolete. HTC Desire may have a leading edge compared to SGS because HTC devices have a great amount of developers working on it. HD2 is capable of running Android but its fundamental operating system is WM 6.5, which soon may become obsolete.
Winner: HTC Desire
Graphic performance: SGS has a better GPU than HTC Desire and HD2. I also wonder if the poorly implemented GPU driver in HD2 would hinder progress in future Android builds such as Gingerbread.
Winner: SGS
Price: SGS>Desire>HD2 in my country. HD2 wins.
Guys, help me decide. I could have waited for WP7 devices IF my Diamond did not unexpectedly give up, but I don't have a choice but to grab a phone now. Which device should I go for? Or could I have overlooked any potential models?
nice review but which uses u do with ur phone that what important
I use my phone for browsing, instant messaging and GPS. I prefer phones which I can modify its software to fit my needs, for example, ROM cooking. I am leaning towards Android, I have been using WM for too long and I'm a little bored with it.
....ive been a user of HD2 for the past year nd honestly.....i couldnt stand the msgng client in it! it just is plain frustrating........also from the momnet u buy the hd2 u cant but start installing stuff to change the whole phone experience!........same thng with my previous diamond 2!
i bought a SGS nd so far have been very impressed.....no lags.......no restarts........however i miss wm apps.......you have open source apps for wm which span all categories nd most are free or cracked.......android is still new but has potential if you bear the wait.......for ex you can't find a decent battery/clock/weather widget for your homescreen!!!! ..........already am looking forward for windows phone...........but i guess android it is for now.
As for SGS vs Desire, well to tell u the truth, i became very doubtful abt HTC support services...........they never target the right issues! they're just too lame......
If you happen to have any spare phone (smart or not) lying around then I'd suggest you use that phone until WP7 phones come out. They are coming really soon and you should give them a chance to be considered. You might regret if you buy a phone now and a month later a WP7 phone comes out with features that you really really like.
Well, Just my opinion - that's what I'd do anyway if I was in your situation. In any case, good luck with your decision

Simple answer. NO!
The phone is quite old now and you will receive no support at all from HTC.
I think this is too important to ignore ...

I am using HD2 and i'm very happy with it. If you wanna go HD2, be alarmed that the stock ROM from HTC won't be a satisfactory user experience. I would advise you to look for a custom ROM, that fulfills your user needs (battery power absorbtion, eye candy, crashing,...)
After that you get almost unlimited customisation ability. On the other side, HD2 won't gen any major official customer support, so if you are o.k. with that, there's no other trendemous downside.
One other thing...
if you are a regular customer, who prefers simplicity and no customization (iPhone), this is probably not suited for you
Sent from my HD2
downside if you get the hd2 is that, i doubt htc will release any further official updates for it however look how much this forum has to offer in regards with cooked roms, android port or eventually wm7 port(hopefully) but its fundamental o/s is pretty dire without the enhancements ie battery life and frezzing up ..your stated you been using windows o/s so in a way you know what to expect from a windows phone i havnt tried the desire but reviews are pretty sound..played with the sgs very briefly thought android alot smoother, i love the voice recognition aspect of it eg on goggle if you speak to it, it will fill in the google search field for you, i was impressed! personally i would hold on until the rumoured hd3 or hd7 comes out this year
I think you should buy a cheap replacement at for now. Since WP7 I think will be released soon(I hope), you can wait for it. Anyway in case you won't like WP7, you can still get the HD2(over SGS and Desire) and I think it will be lot cheaper but great overall.
I bought HD2 some time before Desire release.. I also was stuck a long time don't know if to wait or buy.. Then I sold it while Galaxy S hit the store cause I got good money for it.. Then I had the chance, Galaxy S or HD2 again.. I bought HD2 again and didn't regret it..
If I look at the price and the possibilities the HD2 is the winner for me.. Also the quality and display is really good.. Android for me is ready for daily use (Bangster 1.2A Build), no need for NAND atm love the possibility switch between WinMo and Android.. WP7 is coming for shure and Ubuntu also =) But if you don't want to change OS then buy Android phone, I came from Palm to Windows Mobile years ago but I never got an experience like Android, best usability you can get in my opinion..
Only advantage I see with Samsung is the better GPU, but in Quadrant benchmark I get a much higher CPU score, so don't know which is better.. NFS Shift runs smooth though =)
I have to agree with the last 2 posts, came from a Mytouch andriod phone to the HD2. If it wasn't for the fact that I can sync up my calander and contacts from my outlook, this phone would be have been sold 1 day after I bought it. 3 apps on the crappy windows market also make the phone ok. Being able to put different roms helps, but it really only changes screens around, it still runs on crappy windows
But if I had my choice I would have stayed with my Mytouch and spent $275 on a newer andriod phone then this POS.
Great replies. I've decided to go for Samsung Galaxy S. Cheers~
Hi guys,
I know this is a strange fight, but I own a Nexus One and I'm somewhat bored about the hardware limitation (low internal memory), issues (bad touch panel with axis inversion), and no official HTC Sense support (if not with my ROM, even though not perfect).
The thing is... I love Android BUT I want the speed of Windows Phone!
Now, I'm assuming that the One S is a great improvement over previous gen phones, and so Android 4.0 could fly.
But I'm not sure because I haven't touched it yet.
Also the plus of the One S is its camera!! I love taking GREAT photos, while on vacation, with my phone.
Does the HTC Radar offers me almost the same thing as the One S?
I'm skeptical about it and that's why I'm asking you this question
Thanks!
Well, IMO One S is much better than Radar (I'm radar owner) but well, it's just an opinion. Anyway, if u're able to, i'd choice Titan instead of radar as well as it has much higher screen than radar does.

Hey thank you for the quick response!
The thing is that I don't like BIG phones... The One S is the maximum in terms of size which I can "afford"
And I like also his thinness!
Well, as u wish then...
U'd have to choice between Android and WP, that's a hard choice.
But hey, I love One S, so, there's no prob.
BTW u should check Titan's screen before giving a reponse, it's an amazing screen and it's not as big as it looks when u're using it...
are there any other choices in ur mind?
Nope.. only this 2 choice
I'll decide later. As of now there's a promotion for the Radar @ 199€, while One S costs around 450€
U'll have to choice urself.
They're 250€ of difference but well... I've Radar since February and I installed custom rom this saturday. I just want to have a new phone, I don't like Windows Phone at all. Did u read lastest Microsoft news?
If u want WP, just wait till september-october, so u'll have windows 8 instead of WP 7.5 Tango
I like windows phone 7. I love my Radar hardware and the whole OS. The camera is good, or average in today's standards.
With all that said, if you don't prefer an OS over the other, get an HTC One S.
If you prefer the UI of WP (like me) get a Radar.
Only problem with the radar is that there will be one more update 7.8 and then its over for all seced gen none wp8 devices.

Radar has excellent low light camera performance but sucks in all other situations. Android is much better. Also go for sony devices with exmor rsensor.if u want true camera. It rocks!!
Hey guys,
I just wanted to get your opinion on which phone I should use. I ordered the Lumia 920 off eBay recently and I heard really good reviews on it. I was planning on giving it to my sister but now I'm kind of convinced to use the Lumia. I love my one x+ but what do you think? Comments and opinions are much appreciated!!!

While I'm sure the Lumia is a very solid phone in terms of hardware, and Windows Phone 8 certainly looks sleek, I feel like the app ecosystem for Windows Phone 8 just isn't mature enough yet. Look at how long it took the Android Market (Play Store, whatever) to get where it is now. If you don't use a whole lot of 3rd party apps and like to rely on whatever's already on the device, then maybe the Lumia 920 is the device for you, but I prefer having the vast selection that Android offers. Past that it all comes down to personal preference; the two operating systems are quite different in terms of design, and I'm sure everyone's got their opinion. Also, I've heard the Lumia 920 is a bit of a hulking beast (quite heavy), so it will be quite a change from the HOX+ which is comparatively light.
Well the only major difference would be the availability of apps. I only ever really use major apps like Twitter, facebook etc. I don't really use any 3rd party apps but I do have some. I really like the Lumias design and look. It just looks like a well made phone. And the weight? Doesnt really affect me much

Well, it seems to me that you have already made up your mind but you would just like people to validate your choice.
If you like your phone tank-like with a good performing OS that has what you need already, then by all means.
Of course, I personally am too invested in the Google ecosystem to consider using anything else, because the level of integration that Android offers is astounding. I also love the Android OS more than the Windows one, but if you are a part of Microsoft's ecosystem (with Xbox and Outlook and the like), then the 920 is a good bet for you. I wouldn't know where to begin to shift over my cards to a new OS, but syncing everything to my Google account between Android devices is a cinch and pretty brilliant.
The Android system also has such incredible hackability and tweakability (this enormous forum community is a testament to this) compared to where WP8 is standing right now.
The One X+ is a very sleek device itself. Decide what is really important to you in a phone, and good luck with your decision.
I agree that WP8 is much less developed than android and Google in terms of users + tweaks. What I dont like about WP8 is that it doesnt have as much dev support as android.
I'm going to test the Lumia 920 out for a couple days and see which one I like better.

Hi everyone. For the past 8 months, I was on Windows Phone on a Nokia Lumia 920. Although I love the device and WP was pretty good for what it was meant to do, I was a bit disappointed that the apps I heavily use for school and work didn't get ported to WP in spite of many petitions to these companies. Even though I love Nokia, I had to make the uneasy decision of leaving them behind and jumping ships back to HTC. I recently bought the HTC One and have a few questions.
I had the first HTC Desire as well as the HTC Flyer, but I was extremely disappointed at the fact that HTC decided to pull support from both of these devices after just being a few months in the market. They touted both of these devices at all conferences before launch and then cut the support to them. As a result, I wanted to move away from HTC, but unfortunately I'm back because WP/Nokia option didn't work out for me. I just want to know how HTC is doing in terms of supporting their devices? Is it still very difficult to root their devices?
Is there anything in general I've missed for the past 8 months?
Also, from personal experience, how is the Lumia 920 camera vs the HTC One?
HTC hasn't proven any different yet, there's still no official 4.2.2 even.
However, thanks to the Google edition you'll be able to get the best support possible should you choose to unlock the device and put a custom recovery on it to flash GE roms (or if you just buy the Google edition). May even be possible to change CID and flash an RUU and get direct updates like a Nexus device once it's available.
Dev support is great for the One. You can unlock the boot loader on HTCDev and flash a recovery right from fastboot. Easiest non-nexus I've worked with
As far as cameras are concerned, I'm convinced the lumia 920 has a superior camera - Nokia probably has the best on any smartphone, great quality, good low light shots, etc. Not to say the One is bad (its actually quite good in my experience so far), but it's not as good as what you have on the higher end lumia devices.
Otherwise, the One is far superior to the 920 in every way - at least in my opinion.
But welcome back you seem to have the same problem as most android/iOS to WP converts.

Thanks for your reply!
I really wish Nokia made an Android option, but regardless. I was happy to see that there will be a GE version of the HTC One, which would mean that even if HTC decides to pull the plug, at least the updates from google and developers from XDA will keep the device going!
I've actually had a lot of friends that went with the iphone that can't wait for their contracts to be up so they can switch to android. they're not having much luck with iOS
Seriously if Nokia will have android, they will be on top of Samsung, HTC etc with their good hardware design.
Too bad Microsoft has brainwashed Nokia. Nokia should get into the Android game while making WP as well. The more choices we have...the better.

I also jumped back to Android from my Lumia 920,I still keep it because its a great phone, really like the OS, but missed some work apps (Logmein & GFI) ,im really pleased with the ONE, been trough a lot Android devices and the ONE is perfection for an Android Device.
