On the UK's most expensive network
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-phone/nokia-lumia-800
I was hoping to get it on T-Mob/Orange but they have no mention of it
Can't believe they've not put a FFC on it. Every other manufacturer is releasing mango phones specifically with FFC, and Nokia, who everyone's been waiting on for a beautiful phone, drop a bollock. Really stupid move.
If all Orange are going to stock is the Mozart and Radar I will be switching network at the start of next year. Two fairly low-end devices.
Its available on clove now http://bit.ly/vuyU06
I have been showing some pics of the Lumia 800 to the wife, she wants one - NOW - she has been using my HD7 for the last couple of weeks and loves WP7, but the design of the Lumia has totally wowed her, she wants the blue one!!!
O2 willl deffo have it i have been talking to them this morning but fell out before we talked price due to not doing early upgrades anymore less you on over £36 a month (idiots).
T-mobile have said they cant confirm or deny and to check back later but have told electricpig they will stock it along with three orange and vodafone
http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2011/10/26/nokia-lumia-800-windows-phone-official-plastic-fantastic/
I think its comming to all the only issue is colours prices etc i well want blue but will not go to O2.

Great news, I know there was a leaked roadmap for Orange France that showed the 800 so i guessed it may be the same across the other european arms too..
Does anyone know where the blue is going?
Phones 4 U have an awesome deal considering it's a brand new phone (Preorder). Free Phone, 600 Mins 3000 Texts, 1GB Data £28 a month free phone.
They only have it in black though and I want the blue asked the support and they said they don't know if or when they will get the blue version

I'm thinking of just waiting tbh.
My T-Mobile contract is up this February and I already have a Samsung Omnia 7. I could then just get a Blue Nokia Lumia 800 in February (This is me assuming that the blue version is going to have a delay).
The other possibility I've come to is that the Blue Lumia is exclusive to Vodafone. This is because, Three, Phones4U and CarPhoneWarehouse all display the black phone. If you go on Vodafone's site they show the Black AND Blue model (although don't have their tarrifs or preorder information up).

Yeah but these Tariffs either link to three.co.uk (which shows a coming soon page) vodaphone, carphone warehouse or phones 4 u.
Carphone warehouse clearly states they only have black, Phones 4 U have told me they only have black and Three only display the black phone.
Also on a side note, why do Americans say No-Kia and not Nokia?
3 will be doing the Blue. I just saw them on a video telling me so

well if 3 is doing blue i wouldnt of thought it would be locked to a specific currier as (i may be mistaken but from what i have seen) they never get exclusives like that. If it was orange or O2 i would thnk game over. Vodafone has a countdown to preorder at 7 days and i am guessing that in order for one not to complain about the other they will all go live at the same time otherwise they would be capturing the early birds. I think black is just unlocked models they are selling with contracts.
Gave my details to three instore today to ask about the Blue version, they said they didn't know yet. Orange store said they would know on Monday about prices and what colours they're getting - They also said the free Xbox deal was for everyone who gets the device on launch, not just upgrades... it just so happens that the device is being offered to upgrades first
Also, for anyone thinking of getting the device all the stores told me that the phone is proving to be VERY popular and they're anticipating iPhone like queues and sellouts so if you're thinking of getting one make sure you preorder.
Oh this is great news think i might pop to the orange store in my local town yay new xbox my old one can go in the bedroom lol. Best not sell out beforei get one though but then i dont think anyone in the world is as obssessed by it as me so i stand a good chance lol
Wow... well that's encouraging.
Whislt there is nothing really wrong with my Omnia 7 ... the 800 just looks lovely Bah months to go till i upgrade though...
I need one in blue and it needs to be on O2, hopefully car phone warehouse can sort me out alternately it's off to clove for an unlocked one, assuming they have blue
Cheapest/Best deal I've seen so far on orange:
http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobi...utm_campaign=Lumia800PreOrder&adnetwork=email
Free phone, 200 minutes, unlim texts, 750mb internet and free BT Openzone access £26 p/m.
Phoned them up, they're only getting the black.
Hi guys, I'm considering buying a new smartphone for my dad's birthday next month. With lumia 900 on its way to the UK, is it worth paying extra to get lumia 900?
Thank you very much

The pretty much depends on personal opinion. When it comes to specs their pretty much similar except for screen, Camera, and Radio (LTE or not).. and aesthetics

Go for Lumia 900! I just got Lumia 800 last week and I love it!
The screen size difference is 0.4 inches but the AMOLED with ClearDark display beats the S-LCD and it feels so pleasant to use. On top of that you get the Nokia's OEM exclusive softwares and constant updates.
However, I think the extra is just £60 more if that. Unless you can get your hands on some cheap HTC Titan. Also, this is a pure speculation but Lumia 900 might have better chances of upgrading to Windows phone 8 in next 6-8 months.
I chose the Titan as I love the HUGE display. Only got it on Wednesday and I love it. As for the Super LCD vs Amoled, the Amoled will have richer colours but some say they are too rich and saturated. I put my Titan next to my HD2 which has a standard LCD screen and the difference was night and day. SLCD is very impressive and probably just as good as amoled without the potential problems of amoled screens (burn in).
As for software support, HTC have their own apps in the app store including Locations which is a GPS Sat Nav with downloadable maps for offline navigation, spoken instructions etc. In a recent Youtube comparison, the user preferred Locations Sat Nav to Nokia Drive.
If this matters to you, Titan has a removable battery (good for spares). Nokia's battery is built in and non removable.
Good price now for sim free £285 on Amazon UK
http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-TITAN-Free-Windows-Smartphone/dp/B005JC48OI
One final point, the Nokia Lumia 900 is virtually the same size as the Titan and yet the Titan has a bigger screen.
It is totally your call. Go to a Carphone Warehouse and check out the Titan hands on.
Hello all,
My Lumia 800 has began to develop a screen issue. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
I've been noticing that when my screen displays red or blue on medium and low brightness settings, there are lines that run across the screen. They seem like discolored pixels.
I'll post pictures once my roommate gets back. I have to borrow his computer to use his SD card reader. I put Windows 8 on my Vaio Z and the SD card reader won't work anymore...
[UPDATE] Photos
Anyone know if this is normal for AMOLED screens?
Probably your unit has some issues...I only get a similar issue (not as apparent tho) when on a white screen, and this is due to the pentile matrix, but those colours should should be fine on AMOLEDs. I also just tried an orange wallpaper and I don't get any lines whatsoever. The only behaviour I'd call normal on AMOLED panels will have to be the spots of light you see on a black screen and the whites looking dirt from time to time , but I've never seen one doing that. Maybe you should sent it for repair.

Darn. Unfortunately, I live in the United States and my phone (Puerto Rico Variant) is not covered under warranty as far as I know. Is there an international warranty? Mine is unlocked and unbranded.
I can perform the repair myself by ordering a screen off Amazon ($120).
Or this can be an excuse to jump to a Lumia 920

Well, switching to the 920 is probably the best option however replacing a screen on a 800 is easy as pie. I did it for a friend of mine a while ago and it took like 5 minutes, you just gotta be a little careful not to mark the case in the process.

There's a screen on sale on Amazon for about $120. Are there other places to get it for cheaper? Thanks!
A quick update...
I contacted Amazon and told them that my 8-month old phone was defective. To my surprise, they are giving me a full refund ($600)!!!
I've never seen customer service like this before. I must've gotten real lucky this time. I don't know how or why, but they offered me a full refund. I felt bad at first and told them I'd be happy with just $200 credit, but they couldn't do that for whatever reason.
Anyway, my Lumia 800 is sad now and it's going home in a box. I'm going to use the refund to buy a 920, but I'm having a hard time parting with the 800...Maybe I'll get another 800 once the price comes down as a souvenir.

Hmmm that's not very good longevity for the Amoled screen then. I returned the phone and got $500 back (after a $110 restocking fee). I'm back to using my HTC HD2 and I miss my Lumia's responsiveness.
But I'm using WP 7.8 on my HD2
My Lumia 920 arrived yesterday.
Wow, a phone you can make voice calls on. Amazing!
Now I need to figure out what to do with this gently used titan.

You know, I wasn't sure that the 920 or Windows Phone 8 in general had anything that would make me drop $200 that I could spend on a tablet or something. Even thought the 920 camera is often and the Nokia people show their WP users way more love than HTC, my Titan is way better than "good enough."
But then rumors were that the 920 was going to actually sell for $150. Then it actually went on sale at $99. Now Walmart is selling it for $49. Then, in literally the last two days, my Titan has been getting sluggish for the first time ever. Now you're reminding me that my call quality is so bad that the phone aspects of the Titan are borderline useless.
Sold.

You mean a 925? I was not aware a 1020 was even released or being considered. No would be my answer as hardware wise the the 920 and 925 are the same except the 925's camera is actually not as good as the 920's and it for the most part is a weakened 920 in a smaller case.

I was somewhat disappointed there wasn't more evolution in the hardware, but I guess the OS restricted that.

Nope! I can't justify spending $299 upfront for what...a 3x zoom and the extra mega-pixels that come with that zoom. At normal P&S it's no different than the 92x variants. I'm leaning on the 925 which I put my hands on today. It does have the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling app and access to the Field Test via ##3282# where you can make Automatic, 2G, 4G, and LTE network changes. The 521 can do the exact same thing. Columbus, GA does not have LTE as of this typing. We also know that HSPA+ is 3G technology and when you run the field test; it is all zeroes up and down the board when you run the 4G diagnostics, a point I have had to make at every T-Mobile kiosks that insists that HSPA+ is 4G. Today "4G" is accepted as the be all of anything that isn't "2G" or "3G". We can thank T-Mobile who got this whole "4G" thing started with HSPA; that said, their mobile data speeds are pretty darn good but thanks to marketing it's become convoluted to say the least.

The big issue for me with the 925 is the downgrading of the amount of internal memory & other than the design it doesn't seem a great deal different to the 920.
No, as I understand it, its got the same hardware except a better camera. I don't use the camera on my phone that much to warrant the camera sticking out (and not being able to lie my phone flat on its back- which I do quite often when using it)

It is a US only offer from purchasing your device at the Microsoft Store. So its not an AT&T offer, but simply a benefit you get from getting your device at the Microsoft Store in the US.

Unfortunately in the US, buying the phone for full price does not give you an automatic unlock. You are still completely bound by the terms and conditions of the carrier you bought the phone from. Its an AT&T exclusive, which means AT&T probably won't unlock it until they decide otherwise.

It's not as portly as the 920 which is a bit of a bonus in my view.
My oldest Son and I each got new 1020's, got the Wife a 920. The 1020 besides have a game changing camera (and app, that will come to the 920 with the next update) is thinner, lighter, and has a better screen. They also use Matte colors instead of the Gloss of the 800/900 series. (not a plus, just different.)
To say the 1020 is ugly is silly, from the front they look exactly the same. From the top, bottom, sides the 1020 is slimmer. The back does have that large camera, but it has a 6 element F2.2 Zeiss lens, a LED for focus help and video, a Xenon flash for pics (more natural lighting) so its the most functional back in a mobile phone yet.
I wasn't going to before but I'd actually like to sell my 920 to get a 1020. Really wanna play with that camera. (Don't have an upgrade available though as I used it to get a Galaxy s4 that I traded a guy for his Surface Pro)
