Can't Recover My Fascinate - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried using EZbase to restore my fascinate to get it to where I can even put a ROM on it but it doesn't completely work.
After I flash everything through ODIN, it boots up and I get "E:failed ot mount /efs (Invalid argument)" and "E:check_selective_file:Can't mount /efs" and "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2"
I thought this recovery was foolproof. Whats up??

Sounds like your sd card is dying to me. If you're still using the stock one, then that's probably it.

finally got it back to stock. Does the logic board actually have another actual internal sd card on the other side of the board like the removable slot by the battery?
And I finally just got AOKP back on. I flashed the stock ROM and then rooted it by flashing su. Then I flashed CWM4 and it finally let me install AOKP again. Thank jesus.
Does whatever ROM you're using have to be rooted for CWM to be able to flash a ROM correctly?

Now I'm even more lost. I literally followed my own instructions to the letter and it won't install any of my ROMs now. The one time it worked, it started to flash AOKP in CWM4 and then it stopped, restarted and finished the install in CWM6. Now all I get is boot loops whenever I try to install a rom.

Alright I think I got the recipe.
Flash the original ROM with ODIN > reboot > flash CWM4 with ODIN > reboot into CWM4 and flash su to root it and then immediately flash the new ROM without wiping anything. That's how I got mine to work and run AOKP jelly bean.

Rom manager question again

does restoring the stock rom usually take 30mins+? i cleared cache, and wiped everything and its been a little more than 30 mins does it usually take this long?
Takes me about five minutes tops

i restored it, and rebooted its just the t-mobile mytouch 4g thats taking forever. any tips on how to make it work i just want to go back to the stock rom
its when i turn it on it stays stuck on the logo(the 1st one)
Are you using the correct version of clockwork mod? If you are on 3.0.0.5 you cannot use that one to flash the stock rom. If that is the case you need to reflash whatever rom you are using and downgrade your recovery or flash 3.0.0.6 which allows you to flash between gingerbread and froyo.
yeah i am on.5 how do i flash .6? and thanks for the help
There are instructions under the development section. First you need to get back to the rom that was working for you. Put the .6 zip on the root of your sd card. Boot into recovery and install it. Reboot your phone. Go into rom manager. Scroll all the way to the bottom to All Clockword Recoveries and select the 3.0.0.5 to flash. Reflashing that one will actually give you 3.0.0.6.
can you give me the link please? and thanks
Thanks I got back to it

Your downloading the rom, not the update right?
since its my first time flashing it..wouldn't MIUI 1.4.1 be the rom or is that the update? or is there somewhere i'd have to start off with

How's this for a noob/newb question?
So I'm using a Photon 4G, which is on SBF 198_7, is rooted and unlocked (obviously), and for some reason absolutely refuses to boot the CM9 Beta. Currently I'm flashing 0.3.3 but previous attempts with .4 had the same result. I follow the instructions step for step (meaning I format system, cache, and data as well as perform a factory reset in CWM (running 5.0.2.7-photon3, although I've also tried the newest of the versions posted by Jokersax). When I install and reboot the phone sits on the red circle screen.
My logcat says:
exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)
which to me is saying that /system may not be mounted at all.... I've read the CWM 5.0.2.8 has this problem but not with 5.0.2.7. Any ideas on what I should try to get past this issue?
Thanks!

Try this first, of course.
If no worky, then this miggghhhtt:
This are the steps to be able to boot into 4.0:
1. Wipe everything as usual in CWM by Joker
2. Flash 0.3.1 and only 0.3.1
3. Reboot, into 0.3.1
4. Let it sit for 1 minute, mess around in it for that time.
5. Reboot into Recovery(CWM by Joker).
6. Flash 0.4.0, gapps and or the usual.
7. You can now reboot into it.
Or just flash the rom twice

Since the instructions for coming from another rom says to format system, should the OP on the dev thread mention the double flash issue or is this something that doesn't happen that often?

How necessary is jokers cwm? I've been using it for ages but it doesn't read my sdcard so I have to copy everything from SD to emmc . I've been using jokers cwm and everything is on my sd card. It reads it just fine. I have the newer v3 recovery. Once I choose install zip it gives me the menu for either sd card or internal, along with "update". I would use jokers recovery just cause it seems to work

Odd. Can't imagine why it won't read mine. I've just tried v2 and v3. Several downloads and flashes of each.
No dice
I've also tried ext3 and ext4 sdcard.
Wonder if its because they are partitioned?
Its really not that big of a deal , just a few extra steps for me.
Edit : I take that back, it is kinda a big deal as nandroid won't work due to not being able to read my sdcard.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA
that is weird, maybe it is because you card is partitioned. You might want to try a different card or format your existing. I usually do that every month or so, just to clean it up

If yours won't boot..
This has been a similar issue for me on .4 and the version before.
If it seems like you followed the instructions but you are still stuck at the motorola dual core screen try installing one of these kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520417
They are at the bottom of the post and I used the 1.0 ghz one.
It solved the problem both times for me! Idk if Jokers' CM9 comes with a kernel or if you are supposed to track one down but this worked for me ..
OK a couple things with CM9 0.4.0 i'm noticing. These may or may not be known. Camcorder lags badly and then crashes everything. No macro option in the camera. Also, is there a way in ICS to have USB storage enabled by default when connecting to computer as it is in GB?

the camcorder is a known issue, and i dont know about the usb. i dont use it much. i use wifi file explorer to move anything i need to my phone.
OK thanks. Sucks that you need 3 keystrokes to turn usb on. Another thing I'm noticing is that once the phone goes to sleep the backlighting on the soft keys does not come back on. I wish i was smart as the devs to help with this stuff. I don't wanna sound like i'm complaining. Just making some bugs known.

[Q] HTC Thunderbolt flashing back to stock issue

Hey Everyone,
I got this HTC Thunderbolt, and I was able to root it using the Revolutionary Tool. I wasn't familiar with EXT4 recovery, so as soon as the phone was rooted, I downloaded Rom Manager, installed recovery. From the app itself, I then made a backup of current rom, and installed another rom using the app features. I noticed that the phone booted into EXT4 everytime to conduct these operations. However, the rom flashing wasnt successful and there is no way for me to install the backed up rom file from rom manager in EXT4. I am now with a bricked phone, and I can't find a way to flash back to stock or any other roms I download. Can anyone help me? If you need more information on my situation, I would be gladly to supply it. and Yes i have looked at other forums, threads, and posts here at XDA and others.
Thanks guys!
First issue is you used Rom manager. It doesn't work well with the bolt and it won't work well with 4ext recovery. You should be able to download a new rom. Wipe all except sd card and then flash the new Rom.

I understand I screwed up the process by doing that. I was just following some bad advice a friend told me. However, I did try to download other roms, such as infected rom. When I moved it to my flash card, considering that the phone can't boot into a rom, since the stock rom is currently gone, and I flash that rom on there, I still get a black, however backlit screen. Would you happen to have some credible roms that will work in my current condition. I just need to get the phone back to normal, redo everything properly, so I can start flashing whatever I want and have it work.
Any of the roms from infected should work if you have the partitions formatted correctly first. In 4ext go to tools --> format ext3 and do a factory reset followed by formatting cache, system, data and boot. Then try flashing a different ROM. If it still doesn't work try making sure you have one of the two ICS radios installed.

[Q] How to Remove Cyanogenmod 11 and go back to stock. [Galaxy Player 5.0 US]

I flashed this with Cyanogenmod 11 soon after I got it 2 months ago. Well times are tough and I have to sell it on eBay. I want to remove Cyanogenmod 11 and revert back to stock. I know the thread where the stock ROM and PIT files are (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192488) so thats half the battle there. Is it the same process as this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850) or is there something else I need to do. Do I have to install GA APPS like you do with custom ROMs or is that not needed
This is all pretty new to me. I know how to flash custom ROMs and such but flashing the stock ROM seems tricky to me. Sorry if this has all been covered so many times that it makes you tired of seeing this, I just have to be sure I do this right and dont brick it (cant sell a paper weight on eBay for too much money lol).
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all the hardwork that goes into making these ROMs as well
EDIT: Can I flash the stock ROM with the US Kernal, US PIT file and 2.3.5 gapps like I did with Cyanogenmod 11 or is that impossible?
Again sorry for the newbie question!

I think after flashing a factory firmware by Odin, the device will AUTOMATICALLY boot into stock recovery, where you can wipe data in the correct format. At least that's what it said in the guide I read, and also happens on my Player 4.0 for both Froyo and Gingerbread.

Well since you're getting mount errors, are you sure you flashed the correct PIT file? Mount errors are likely caused by a wrong pit file.
EDIT: I see you have pointed to a thread with correct PIT files. So I think you should flash the PIT file first, boot into download again and then flash the Stock ROM and Kernel. If it boot loops at the boot animation, boot into the stock recovery and wipe data.
