? ok do you want to know how to unlock sgh-i777. if yes then you must be rooted and just download apk called galaxysim unlock by spocky from play store it cost $2.50 and it works even if your on a custom rom hope that helps if thats you question
Unlock by Hellroz can only be accomplished on Gingerbread.
Downgrade, unlock, upgrade back.
Or use a paid app above.

all right!

1st you need to root it ! go on "original android development" find the tutorial for rooting and do it
after you root you can go to android market and search for unlock sgs2 or just type "chainfire" and you gona see the application to unlock you phones for all networks
my android version is 2.3.5 will this still work?

Are we talking sim unlock? If so search market for sim unlock and use the chinfire or helroz ones.
I had no luck with chainfires but the helroz one worked perfectly.
Mine was locked to orange.

Hello All,
i have the GT-I9300 Europe version, rooted, JB 4.1.1
i would be happy to know how to unlock the device boot-loader since i didn't find any good or useful guide
i even heard that the Samsung have already an unlocked boot-loader - i don't think it's true.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer.
if so, how can i check if my boot loader is indeed unlock?
Since early 2011 Samsung has only had unlocked bootloaders with the exception when a provider demanded it (like Verizon).
So yours is UNLOCKED.

1) The bootloader is not locked. Your post is based on rubbish and could potentially brick an international s3. Please only post things you understand, not dangerous nonsense like this.
2) "dis" and "ur" are not proper words. The language of this forum is English and you have a responsibility to use real words. Sure, you may use less-than-perfect grammar and punctuation but at least try to spell words properly if you want to be taken seriously*
*also depends on 1).

That thread shows how to install a new kernel on the device, which is great. But does that mean it is also unlocked (besides rooted)?
Thanks

Nope, there used to be an app to unlock it, downloaded it from google play store, but I think you can only find it here at xda developers now.
I think you need to Odin the i777 firmware to it before you can use the app to unlock.

I've decided to root my phone... as far as I know I won't lose my warranty If I'll be rooted right?
So All I want is just root permissions... NO custom ROMS or Kernels.
I am using GB stock 6.0.B.3.184 firmware android 2.3.7
So Do I need to unlock my bootloader to root? Or I can proceed without doing that?
And could someone provide me with link how to root Xperia Sola with GB stock firmware?
Thank's
Please... I have looked everywhere.
Also found sources where people are searching for a way to root phone without upgrading to ICS with no luck.

You can root without unlocking your bootloader. Bootloader need to be unlocked only if you want to flash custom kernels or roms like cm9,cm10, miui etc.
You can try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Confirmed on the first post that works on sola also. Hope works with gb also

Nothing mentioned about GB... I'll better ask If it can be done on GB as well.
Thanks

My bad mate. Try this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849030.
Hope this works. I don't use gb and can't tell you for sure which is the best choice, i am looking in various threads to find the best way.
You can also have GB with root permissions with a LOCKED BOOTLOADER

Thanks for your effort, I appreciate that
This one says It needs fastboot, so do I really need to unlock bootloader?
How hard is it..? To unlock bootloader, As far as I know it can be done at Sony homepage, Whats the advantage of unlocking it and do it has any cons... already know that it means lost wariaty, and that's a risk.
And finally can bootloader be locked again? To make everything as it used to be?
