Ive just decided to root my device, i realized that i had forgot to enable usb debugging mode (if that is the issue), i managed to get to the lockscreen, but could not use the touchscreen ATALL, but the menu/back/settings buttons on the bottom still worked. So i flashed back to the original rom (using odin) then it failed....now when i try turn it on it says..."firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again",ive tried installing different updates but always a fail, even tried different versions of odin...but nothing.... can someone please please help me im so happy with this phone, and cant believe this has happened Thanks a lot, really hope someone out there can help me i would be so appreciative. Thanks again. Kes

anyone? i come to XDA because everytime ive ever had an enquiry or technical problem with anything, you guys ALWAYS know what to do, and have always helped me get through my android problems, there has to be one of you out there....even with a suggestion? any intake would help. Thanks again. Kes
Did you root by CF-Root? Did you happen to flash the wrong one? Erica one of the XDA tv killed her touchscreen by flashing the note2 cf root.
Anyways, use Kies for the firmware initialization or Odin a stock rom, whichever works for you. Be sure to have it in download mode for Odin tho

Thanks for the quick reply! yes. I think I might have flashed the wrong rom I have tried both Kies and Odin. Kies can't seem to find the device (I had already installed all Usb drives/updates prior to the root), and Odin fails every time

Hi mate, i have a galaxy S3 19300 with O2 (UK)
so what can you get into at the moment? Recovery? Download mode?
Firstly when you run Odin on the computer, make sure that all the Kies related processes are not running (open Task Manager and kill anything with Kies in the name). Then assuming you can put the phone into Download mode (Hold vol-down, power and home together until you see the Samsung logo), do that, open Odin on the computer and then connect the phone. It should show up ok in Odin. Then you can flash whichever ROM you wish, make sure you choose the correct ROM for your device.

Yes ive been putting the device into download mode, then using Odin to flash the rom. Problem im having is everytime ive tried to flash the rom, it fails right at the end, and i have tried different roms/different versions of Odin. The only Odin version i have found work was an older version, it is the only one that turns yellow in the 'com' box when i plug the device in. All other versions (like 3.07) turn blue not yellow
Blue in the com box in ODIN 3.07 is ok:
you should have something like '<ID:0/006> Added!!' in the message panel.
Try flashing a recent JB rom with ODIN 3.07. If that doesnt work, try an ICS rom.
If its failing again, post the output messages here.
Also, when you boot into download mode, what does it say in the top left - device id, custom binary etc....

ok, I'd try :
Uninstall Kies if you have it installed. (leave the drivers).
Try turning off any antivirus/firewall....
Try running ODIN as Admin.
See what happens...

Just uninstalled Kies, turned off antivirus/firewalls, didnt know how to run Odin as Admin. I downloaded a different JB version, and it worked, but now the phone is stuck on the 'samsung galaxy s3 - GT-19300' screen, this is definitely a step forward, but still not quite there
Cool
ok, now boot into recovery vol up + home + power
when in recovery, choose factory reset or wipe data & cache, not sure what the wording is....
to navigate in recovery, use vol up & vol down and power button to choose.

I was able to use the Emergency firmware recovery in Samsung Kies when the same thing happened to me by going into the the Download Mode and plugging my phone in with Kies on.
However, that only worked once out ff the 3 times i had boot problems due to errors when flashing.
What worked every time is flashing stock firmware using Odin. Here is a link to the stock firmware collection -

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i is one
of the most popular and best-selling
low-end Android smartphones with
nice features. The phone was
released with Android 2.2 (Froyo)
and was later upgraded to version
2.3.6 Gingerbread. Modest specs of
the this handset make it unqualified
to be updated to Ice Cream
Sandwich or Jelly Bean but there are
qualified and skilled developers out
there who have successfully, but not
buglessly, developed custom ROMs
and mods to give you some ICS and
JB flavor.
If you have recently tried a custom
ROM and now want to go back to
original Gingerbread ROM, you can
install it manually. Sometimes the
device does not start properly
because it is caught in a bootloop
and you can only see the Samsung
logo with your device name. In such
a situation, installing the official
ROM is the best solution.
Getting Prepared
Download appropriate firmware
file from above and extract the
zip to your desktop computer.
Download Odin3 1.84 tool for
multi-file installation (extract
zip): Odin_with_pit_S5830I.zip
Download Odin3 v3.07 for
single file installation (extract
zip): Odin3-v3.07.zip
Download and install Samsung
USB Drivers on your PC:
Download
Charge your phone and backup
all essential data such as
contacts, messages, apps using
These Free Apps .
Open phone Settings>
Applications> Development
and enable USB Debugging.
Installing Stock Gingerbread
Firmware
Turn off you phone and boot it into
Download mode: hold down
the Volume Down + Volume
Up buttons, then long press
the Power key till the your phone’s
screen turns up and you see the
Download mode screen. Now follow
the steps that applies your case.
Single File Installation:
1. If you are going to do a single
file installation, launch Odin3
v3.07.exe as administrator and
connect the phone to computer
via USB cable.
2. When the device connections is
established successfully the
ID:COM port at Odin 3.07 turns
blue.
3. Click on PDA button and select
the firmware file with .tar.md5
extension.
4. Do not mess with any other
thing in Odin and click the
“Start” button.
Multi-file Installation:
1. In case you choose to install a
multi-file firmware, run Odin3
1.84.exe as administrator and
connect your phone to PC while
it is in Download mode.
2. When the device is connected,
the ID:COM will turn yellow.
3. Make sure that “Re-Partition”,
“Auto Reboot” and “F Reset
Time” options are checked on
Odin.
4. Now click on PIT button and
select the .pit
file: cooperve_0623.pit
5. Then click the PDA button and
select the file with CODE in its
name.
6. Click Phone and select the file
with MODEM in its name.
7. Click on CSC and select the file
with CSC in its name.
8. Finally hit the “Start” button on
Odin and let the installation
finish.
The installation will take just a few
minutes and when it is done your
phone will reboot automatically. The
first boot usually takes longer time
so a little patience is required. When
the phone boots, check the firmware
version from Settings> About on
your Galaxy Ace S5830i. Enjoy the
new firmware. Cheers!

hey man,
im a newbie here, can you help me unbrick my galaxy ace s5830i , ived looked at several how to tutorials but im just haveing a problem on finding an australian stock rom for my phone! , please help , it would be a pleasure
Please help!
Hi guys,
I'm a newbie, and I decided to root my phone yesterday. Once it was rooted successfully, i tried flashing a couple of ROMS (Ace of spades & Slimbean) and both didn't work because of an rror in the file. I then downloaded Razodroid 2.5, and insatlled it (after installing CWM 5), it said installation complete and i tried to reboot my phone, but its stuck on the logo screen. I've looked at so many different tutorials to unbrick it, downloaded all the different setups needed, but the problem is that it just won't go into recovery.
If i press down all the buttons, the logo comes on once, and then just stays blank for as long as i hold the buttons down, and if i let go of the buttons the logo comes up again and stays there.
I tried doing it through ODIN, but if it won't go in to recovery mode how do i get it to work? It doesn't even connect to the computer.
Please help me, I am really upset and frustrated by this, and no longer have a phone. I am at my wits end. Please tell me how to fix this.
Hello guys
my cellphone is currently stuck in a bootloop. Every so often I get in the home screen, after which my screen goes black and it simply reloads the home screen. Whenever that happens, and I try to power down the device, the bootloop just starts again.
I've been able to use my cellphone for up to 10 minutes once, which was exceptional. Now, obviously, I'd like to be able to use my device like I once was able to, so I'm thinking of flashing the stock firmware again, hoping that that will fix my issues.
1. My device is rooted.
2. I had installed the 'stable' version of Rafael Baugis' kernel, more specifically the #201212101860
Link to the kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818830
3. I had installed the modules as found in Rafael Baugis' kernel thread.
4. I had installed the Cosmic Mods
Link to the mods: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172673
I'm not sure as to what may cause the bootloop, so I was thinking of reverting to the stock firmware as a whole. I've found several stock firmware for my device on Sammobile, but I'm not sure on how to go from there. I had found a dutch guide here: http://www.androidworld.nl/forum/sa...ow-one-package-firmware-flashen-via-odin.html
Following the above guide, I encountered two issues though:
1. I can't get in the download mode for some reason (holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button for 10 seconds and more than 10 seconds), my device always just start booting. Recovery mode works just fine though.
2. Odin Multi Downloader V4.38 and Odin Multidownloader V4.43 both crash when I load the tar.md5 as found on Sammobile.
Can anyone with more experience help me fix my issues? I'd be more than glad just to revert to the stock firmware and leave it at that, so far I regret my decision of getting involved in modding, because even though I followed every guide step by step I still managed to mess it up.
Thanks!
Flash a stock rom via Odin.

I tried many times flashing with odin but problem presist
NB: First time accidentally I fill bootloader option with PDA file... Is that a source of concern
Try flashing stock rom with Odin. You can find it on xda if you do a little searching. I've been in your shoes before I can't quite recall what particular thread I got the files from but I know if you search you will find them. The package suppose to contain the Odin file and the other three files needed for the flashing. Good luck!

Hi all,
I have a problem with my S3 and got stuck about how to fix it.
I have CWM installed to root the mobile, it was working fine for 8 months.
A few days ago the S3 started to freezing. I kept using and after an usual freeze, I restarted and got stuck in this message:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.
Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
Kies do not find my device.
I can boot in the download mode, but can not boot in the recovery mode.
At the download menu have the info:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I downloaded a original ROM, from before the Exynos correction and flashed though Odin. The flash was ok, but at the end the mobile restarted in the same screen (Firmware upgrade encountered an issue) and in Odin showing in a blue box the info "RESET!". I reset the mobile and then Odin said PASS!. But I'm still stuck in the firmware error screen.
After this, at the download menu, the info changed to:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I also tried to flash a CWM recovery to see If I could access the recovery menu, the flash was Ok but I still can not go to the recovery menu.
What should I try right now?
I'm not an advanced user and I don't know if this is related to kernell, bootloader or PIT, but I want to try if there is a change of revival my mobile.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Yes, I've tried :
"Vol+ button + Home button + Power button" = Dont't do anything, goes to the same screen with the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
And I was running ICS.

I read this, but I can flash ROM through Odin without problem...
Right now I tried:
flash different .pit repartitions
flash recovery-cmwtouch
flash CF-Insecure
Flash official ROM post- Exodus
Flash official ROM pre- Exodus
and I am at the same error screen without access to recovery menu.
flash different .pit repartitions
Well and truly broke now .
Flash official ROM post- Exodus >> Not sure what you mean by that .
Anyway you need a service centre repair .

I tried the GT-I9300_mx_20120322, it got stuck after the download bar at the cellphone reached 100%, so I used the mx.pit and it was Ok.
Sorry, I wrote Exodus but I want to write Exynos. I used the old ROM because I coudn't reset my counter, but as it didn't worked, I've tried the latest with this exynos fix.
The only good think is that now I have the counter at 0 and the status Samsung official.
The bad news is that the purchase receipt got erased because it was print in thermic paper... Anyway I will try the warranty.
Meanwhile I will keep looking for a solution.
Thanks
