I've stock rom on my S3 (rooted), and did an update from ICS to JB yesterday - since that my notification bar background is dark grey (instead of black as it was in ICS). I've a very clean "theme": solid black on all pages - I don't like colorful themes (maybe with moving bubbles ) - and my black start-screens don't look very nice now with an dark grey bar on top. I've searched a lot and didn't find anything - is there an easy way to set the background color of the notification bar to either transparent or to black? - without installing a theme (which I'm sure modifies things I don't want to be modified). Or is there a recommendation for a simple (!) app which can set this color? many thanks Gerald
You didn't search properly. There is a thread in the themes and apps section with a fix.

There is a reason why the status bar is grey and it's the same reason why you shouldn't have a black background on a amoled screen: screen burn.
In short dark colours corrode your beautiful and very expensive screen.
My suggestion: switch to a grey background!
Ps.Once you get used to the grey status bar, a black one looks odd!

Does this work with 2.2.6? This theme looks real good
Wow. That does look good!!
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Ok I just flashed this. And overall it looked really good. But the dealbreaker for me was that the teal blue stripe was in the notification bar. It did not match the rest of the blues in the theme. That bar was the reason I used the black froyo theme. Im not trying to be insulting... Just my 2 cents.
cant download theemed swipe
i could at first but i flashed the rom theeme and swipe all at once.......then i had no market.so i did one at i time now it says problem with line 3 system app when i try to flash the swipe...........any help or ideas

Agreed man I couldn't have said it better! Seems like blue and green themes are everywhere. I personally like black froyo sex panther and minimal matte by jface on trigger 1.5.
This theme is great.
Hi,
I have little problem with my background color. I use the standard background wallpaper "nexus". The strange thing is that on my homescreens (see pic 1) it is much more lighter as on ther applications screens (see pic 2) the screen is on the lowest light-level.
Why is the color not same??? and is it possible to make the color same?????
Thanks....
Its meant to be like that. Its meant to be a fading effect. If you don't like it try another launcher though that is all you can do. It is normal and not an issue.
so I can not have same color ? ? ? Strange - on my SGS it was 100% same color :-(
If anybody have an idea to get the same color - please tell me....
Samsung changed their touchwiz launcher so it fades the background. Nothing you can do but install a different launcher that doesn't do this.
i made only a black background, thats easy with the app colors.
I made a black background to. Thanks guys

Here is my modded SystemUI. This one is stock and only for Jelly Bean. No 15 toggles, or different colored icons, just transparent status bar and notifications, center clock, no battery icon for those of us who like to have the percentage instead (settings ->display ->show battery percentage)
Please read everything as the firmware you use is very important!!! Installation of the wrong file will cause strange things to happen on your phone, thanks to Samsung's changes in the framework-res.
These first ones are for any older firmware up to and including XXLQB only!!!
Installation of these on any firmware that came after the Russian XXLQB will cause anomalies in your phone like selecting default telling you headphones or phone instead of Always and One Time.
Transparent Mod Download
Stock Mod Download
Alt Toggle order Transparent download
Alt Toggle order Black download
Transparent and Blue Toggles Download
Black with Blue Toggles Download
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The following files are for the newer firmwares starting with the Indian DDULP8 and up to and including XXLQG. Installation of these on older firmwares cause the default program selection to read S Pen has been Detached and Go To Settings to show up instead of Always and One Time.
Transparent Mod Download for Newer Firmware
Stock Mod Download for Newer Firmware
Alt Toggle order Transparent download for Newer Firmware
Alt Toggle order Black download for Newer Firmware
Transparent and Blue Toggles Download for Newer Firmware

I am sorry for taking so long to get this done, but I hope this helps correct things for everyone. If you find anything strange after you have made sure you installed the right file, let me know. But make sure you have done it right before posting anything please. I might get cranky if you didn't take time to make sure you did things right (not likely tho lol)

Screenshots below show the way they look, hopefully the descriptions are self explanatory.
Thanks to shut_down for helping me with the decompiling and compiling of apk's and the ripple effect on the lockscreen. Also big thanks to joehanh88 for invaluable assistance with the coding of the systemui and xml's and stuff.
Install with CWM or TWRP. Make sure to backup your SystemUI.apk and Framework-res.apk in case you want to go back. These are deodexed files. If you are still odexed, just rename SystemUI.odex to SystemUI.odex.bkup. Should work for you
Hope you like it... was fun (most the time lol)
If you feel it is worthwhile to use in your rom or other mod, just give me credit please and link to this...
Should you want slight variations in these, I am sorry but I don't take requests. If you want them, do some searching and find the tutorials on how to do that yourself. A good place to start is HOW TO THEME SystemUI.apk for TOTALLY newbie! by joehanh88.
And as always, I am not responsible for anything that happens if your phone breaks, blows up, or just gets an attitude.. do this at your own risk.
Can you make a black version and with normal size clock and percentage numbers? This is the best statusbar but not everybody likes transparent look

It's sad The only problem is that 3G toogle is to far. Does Samsung really think that I use Bluetooth much often?
op updated with stock version.
Thanks man best statusbar!!!

Minor update coming tomorrow. Nothing special just a little more logic..
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
Op updated, with more logical order to the toggles
Op updated again, minor change, blue toggles in notifications for you
Made a couple of changes to the transparent mods. Changed the color of the clock and battery percentage to a very light gray so they will show up against a white background. Also changed the notifications to show up better in bright conditions. Download links updated. Try them and let me know what you think.
Re: [JB] Oh Boy, Another modded SystemUI LOL (updated now with stock and blue Toggles
In one of my friend's s3(4.2.2) I observed that the notification bar wasn't scrollable instead of that he had a button on the right top to show all toggles ..
Can you do it for our s advance....
If you didn't get the description the I'll upload a screen shot of the notification pull down ...
By the way it's recommended to keep the landscape mode untouched...

Yes I have seen that before too, am looking for a tutorial and source files for it, if I can find that will see what I can do... no promises tho hehe
Using of alt toggles is great But in my opinion centre clock is not looking the best with many notifications.
As for me, the best variant of statusbar would be your alt toggles with black background, black bar but with clock at right (as usual) and with battery image which is white, not green. And white toogles after activating! Could be great if you can do it but I don't know if it's possible and if you have a wish and time.

Maybe next week, will have to see if I have time...
In waiting process
I know the wallpapers that come with the phone are full screen (status bar included)
Can we download more of these types?
I notice when I try a Jelly Bean wallpaper it brings back the black status bar. it kind of makes the screen look a bit smaller that way
There is a mod here somewhere here that let's you use any wallpaper

depending on the launcher you use it may also have an option to turn on transparent status bar.
Any luck on this

Xperia z3v with prerooted 5.0.1. Using lolistat from xposed. When Im on my homescreen my status bar is staying solid blue and my nav bar is suppose to be transparent not black. Its really iritating and I cannot figure out how to fix it. Any help would be great!

Lolistat?
Lolistat makes your status and nav bars match the colors of other apps. Gives it a more android 5.0 look.

Try removing it and see if the bug goes away. Not all Xposed mods work perfectly, especially on our phones when it's considered an overall different device than the rest of the Xperias.
Tried it and it didnt work.

Your best chance is to just reflash the prerooted ROM and start clean there. You will still keep most of your data (phone logs and apps), and if there are apps you froze, it will stay frozen. What you will have to do is reflash the Xposed installer and framework and all the other mods to get back to where you want to be before you installed this mod bug.

Mine is also blue on the home screen (matches other apps fine). Very jarring appearance. Otherwise phone seems to be smooth and operational. Just enabled Advanced Calling 1.0 (assuming this is VoLTE/HD Voice).
I came from stock 4.4.4, no root.
EDIT 2: Further info - looks like you and I were both using Google Now Launcher. If you revert to default launcher, everything should look normal.
EDIT 1: I just changed my "Theme" from Xperia (changing colors) to white, and the notification bar is now grey/white. Seems like probably it's related to the changing color theme and the inability to have a color-changing notification bar. Too bad they didn't default it to black instead of bright baby blue. It's also coordinated with the color of your settings app, which is blue using Xperia theme.
