FOR THOSE WITH BATTERY PROBLEMS:
1. After flashing your phone with a new ROM, install this software:

BATTERY CALIBRATOR - 47 KB size
2. Then, charge your phone to 100%.
3. IMPORTANT. Remove CHARGER first.
3. IMMEDIATELY hit "Battery Calibration" (1 or 2 seconds delay is fine, wait for BATTERY voltage to drop and be stable)
4. Use your phone normally (don't charge in between) till it hits 1%.
5. Then charge your phone UNINTERRUPTED (leave it for charging all night) till 100%.
6. Unplug and start using. You should be having as little as 2-3% battery drain for 6-8 hours of IDLING now. That's the optimization of a calibrated battery.
ENJOY! Hope this helps!
Even Google confirmed that deleting that one file has nothing to do with battery drain,its just place where phone saves battery using from apps.

Surprisingly this issue continues to be resolved by simply following this easy trick. Worked for me, hence I shared it. Worked for good many other people. I don't see the explanation for that. As long as it fixes someone's headache, it's helpful.
You should charge your phone as often as possible. That's good for the battery.

Letting Lithium Ion get to low charges then charging it will decrease battery life, you can leave them plugged in a charger and it will be fine, just like when you leave your laptop plugged in or leaving a UPS plugged in.

actually what battery calibration really do is it makes battery percentage display on status bar more "accurate".
when you flash a new rom, old battery data is not deleted so it will be inaccurate (ex: showing 52% on status bar when your battery is at 30%)
therefore, calibration doesn't improve battery life :laugh:
Ive heard of it before. keeping your battery level between 60% and 80% help prolong your battery's lifespan.

It kinda does improve your battery life, because for instance your phone is reading 10% while the phone actually have 30% then the phone may shut down anytime because it think it has low power.

I bought a new note 4 a month ago
I needed to root it badly but I cant find any proper way, so I flashed a prerooted custom rom called nameless rom v7. It is perfect in performance yet my battery charges to a maximum 87% and when it reaches 13% my device powers off...I tried calibration and clearing dalvik and reflashing rom abd buying a new battery but none had solved my problem. If your rooted, try battery calibration. Plenty of threads about, and varying methods.
If not, another battery, and if new, ensure charge fully, phone off, overnight, before first boot.

forgot to mention i'm running [Rom]Wanam v3.2 at that time, currently on v3.4, the dark extended areas is me at work where i turn airplane mode on due to serious bad reception at work... sync is on rest of the time for gmail/whatsapp/kakao other than that manual updates on twit and some news apps...
u can see the first jump in the first pic, that was due to me exchanging with 1st spare battery( got 4 + original batt= total of 5)
i dont know if its the phone and exchanging batteries thats causing such high battery losses at the end of the battery life...
plus yesterday and the day before battery goes crazy when it reaches 30-20% and when i go for a restart to freshen things up... the phone wont switch on thinking the battery is totally dead... i put in the new battery and its @ 100% ... switch back to the old battery to see where the 30-20% went... it wont start...
now im thinking... keeping 1 battery in the phone with a charge from 0-100% actually takes the phone all the way to 0% but exchanging the battery wont...
how am i supposed to use the full potential of the batteries...

been using this app since my old sgs, it sure works and have been using it ever since...
tho in the [Rom]Wanam ... install procedure says that its backing up the battery stats and this lead me to think that a batt calibration is not needed... or am i wrong to think so?
If you change batteries, all previous data will be irrelevant, and you need to calibrate each time. You can do things manually by installing battery monitor widget, charge to 100% AND until the mA reaches zero (Voltage spills be approx 4200mV). At this point, quickly delete battery stats (menu / stats /) and immediately unplug.

Thing is, what's the use of having spare batteries if this will happen on each battery swap and having to go thru calibration means having a charger nearby...
and by 0% i didnt actually mean 0 but till that 1% turned the phone off
if what u said is true, then i guess i need some kind of script to help and keep the batt data even after swapping.. based on 1 good calibrated file swapping batteries should start from a certain point even if the batteries do lose some of their charge but continue to moniter things as they were... i dunno if what i said makes sense... correct me if i'm wrong
Not really 100% sure, but sure I have not always calibrated after a battery swap in the dhd..The previous battery was calibrated and performing well, and the replacement would have been very close to 100% charge. I didn't notice any irregularities in the battery data, or battery drain.
So I suppose a good bat stats file should help the phone showing relatively "accurate" data after a battery swap, if they're both "conditioned" (gone through a number of charging cycles, not straight out of thre box)
Maybe I could be wrong, but based on past experience.

Have you tried different radios/modems for better reception? if your phone is struggling to get decent reception its going to use your battery.
You could try changing to 2G only in wireless settings. used to help me alot.

i'm already using it steve, thanx for the helpful info ^_^ , tho it has nothing to do with my strange problem... before going to work i switch to 2g coz i mainly use it for calls so after work is done, i wanna have fun with the phone so its back to 3g... i hardly have reception as i mentioned before is due to really thick walls and working underground in some rooms... its just common sense... plus im on latest modem and its actually performing better than other phones (nokia,BB,moto,iphones....) at where i work, 5 guys got convinced and got a sgs2 coz of mine lol
Just now 100% charging is completed and got the Beep but after unplugging the charger it showed 96% this is the 5th time I am getting like this..Any idea how to fix it? thought it is FW bug and changed to KI8 from KI3 still same

Do you have CWM? My battery went mad two days ago. All I needed to do was clearing the battery stats via CWM.

Even more interesting. If you phone freezes and you need to do a cold reboot (hold power until reboot) the battery level can drop like 20 or even up to 50% at a time. (it then slowly increases by itself).

I don't know if the stock recovery has this option, so you should check it. If it doesn't, you could consider rooting your phone.
It worked for me, after my battery went crazy. It dropped from 100% down to 86% in 5 seconds. And when I checked the stats in the menu, I saw three lines if which one made an upside down looping. The first moment I was like "wtf?".
But if you don't want to, you should go have your phone repaired/replaced.

i did had same problem but when ever my phone beeps of full charging, then i disconnect and following the entropy method. That is power off the phone and full charge it and when the power is on, i checked and it shows 100%
My phone drains the battery very quickly from 100% to 1% but after reaching 1% it can be used for hours.Last time after the full charge battery dropped from 100-1% in about 2 1/2 hours of use on WiFi but after that it lasted for more than 13 hours on 1% but the Network data, Bluetooth and WiFi was off.
Currently i am running CM7 stable (battery fix is also applied) i was also facing such issues on the stock 2.3.4.
maybe a battery re-calibration can solve this issue?

I have now reflashed stock sbf 2.3.4 still having the same problem.
My device settings
Network data and Bluetooth is always off.
WiFi is only on when being used rest of the time its also off.

Yes i have also applied the fix no battery is original it came with the phone and the phone is only two weeks used.

I don't know. I bought it, and unlocked it directly, then flash CM7 Rom, but noticed that the battery drain very fast. However, after the indicator becomes 1%, I can still use rather a long time. I thought it was an error on battery meter, but I can't make it display correctly through calibration.
Now if the battery is fully charged, I can still use rather a long time after the indicator becomes 1%. But after the battery drained, it can't be charged completely. It really disappoints me very much.

Ya that's the same problem i have i think its something to do with phone recognizing the mah capacity of the battery if u can see the charge-full-design in sys/class/power-supply/battery/charge-full-design u will notice it showing only 500 which should be 1880 that's why our phone drops and charge quickly according the capacity its getting from charge-full-design.
This value can be changed on other phone but for Motorola i have not found any tutorial or app to do so

Oh, thanks. The value in sys/class/power-supply/battery/charge-full-design is just a result, representing the battery statue. So the key is that the battery capacity can't be recognized correctly by the phone. I just test another battery, and the value 1880!
But the former battery doesn't look like a fake one. Actually, I bought them together. I can't understand.

Lately I've been suffering from a battery problem, I will explain what happens.
I charge my phone completely and then I start using it... when it hits 30% left, the next drop is 20 instead of 29%. For example... If it takes 3 minutes to go down from 84% to 83%... that's the same time it takes from 30% to 20%.
It also happens when it hits 14%, instead of dropping to 13% it drops to 4%.
How can I fix this? I've been told that it's an issue of flashing too many ROM's
Actual ROM; Carbon 1.7 Stable version
Previous ROM: D-WIZ JBX.
P.S: I've been facing this issue for months now, I think it started with D-WIZ.

I've had the same problem and I cannot seem to find a solution. My battery also INCREASES from about 80% to 100 when I'm charging an almost dead battery
Why don't you guys calibrate your battery once . Let me know if it works or not . If not then ill look out for something else.

How old is your phone.?
Its common for old batteries to incorrectly display battery data. This simply happens because the battd daemon uses the estimation based on checkpoints and voltage of the battery. When the battery gets old, the actual charge stored is less than the reported value and results in wrong calculation by battd.
If your device is pretty old, it is in a sense normal. However if its new then it might be some problem.
PS: The battery calibration is a myth! The /data/system/batterystats.bin file is not related to battery charge/life/status (exactly as Google devs stated earlier).
In case of our Razr, charge the battery to 100% and keep charging for few hours after that. Then disconnect it battd will display correct 99%. That's all you need when changing ROMs or batteries! Do not waste your time on "battery calibration"!

What I usually when I switch ROMs is I will both download battery calibration, and keep the charge at 100% for a couple of hours after. That way there is no doubt that it truly is at 100%, and Battery Calibration can do the job well hope this helps!

I wouldn't consider it very old. I think in your case it can be fixed. There were some files that needed to be replaced. don't remember it exactly but will look into it.
Mine does this to. Not sure if there are dead battery cells or if its associated with rom.
Having this issue also calibrate don't help me unless I'm doing it wrong..... RAZR maxx

Lithium-Ion batteries should not be drained everyday over a long period of time. Doing so WILL decrease the lifespan of your battery. Calibration may or may not be a placebo, however, it really depends on how you use and what type of battery you use. If it has no effect for you on the first "calibration", please do not continue to drain your battery everyday.

1) No. Until your battery is completely dead
2) Yes, I haven't tested but it is compatible.
If it works, your phone will abruptly shutdown after receiving the "Blocked Shutdown X times"
If it doesn't work, you will see the shutdown dialog with the spinning wheel before your phone shuts down.

Yea. Maybe more or less but long term usage will decrease your battery life. Only use it for calibration.

The side effect is allowing the battery to drain completely. Ususally used for calibration but if you use it everyday over a long period of time, it WILL decrease your battery life.

So, when did the right time to use it?
Tried it with SGS4 I9500 Android 4.3
Doesn't work.
It's not compatible with 4.3 mate?

Lithium-Ion batteries are NOT meant to be drained. You WILL decrease the life of your battery (since it weakens the anode bars physically). Draining works for Ni-Mh batteries. Android calibrates your battery between 80 and 90% so if you have Lithium ion batteries, calibration is a placebo. Correct me if I'm wrong. :good:

Actually, if the battery metering chip (also known as the 'fuel gauge') is giving inaccurate results, calibration will make a world of difference. Here's an example - on my (generic Chinese) tablet, the meter often goes down quite slowly during usage, while voltage goes down normally (according to BMW). When the meter hits ~35%, the battery starts going down abruptly (~1%/second), until it gets to 0 and the tablet shuts down.
This doesn't mean at all that I have a flawed battery, since I am getting the same usage time as when I bought it (battery was flawed from the start? :silly: ) - the battery meter chip is simply inaccurate.

Removing battery stats is different. On a battery with a terrible calibration, it will not prevent Android from shutting down when it (wrongly) detects a low battery. This module disables the shutdown when you reach 1% and below. Long term usage of draining to 0% WILL lower your battery life. So use only for calibration

Thanks. I recently purchased an extended battery with twice the mAh as the stock battery but I am still getting roughly the same amount of time out of a full charge. I am hoping this will fix that. :good:

My phone seems to have wonky battery life, it will jump from 14 to 12 to 10 to 3 percent then shut down.
This should help immensely for calibration if it does work.

Didn't seem to work for my Beanstalk 4.4.2 HTC One. I am 100% willing to beta test or provide any data if needed
(I installed and activated module, rebooted, let battery drain to 0 from 16, phone proceeded to shut off right away)
